Lewiston, ME Metal Roofing – Lifetime Roof Installation, Storm-Proof Shingles & Happy Homeowner Testimonial

Lewiston, ME

Jenni-Lynn and Levi G.

I just wanted to write this note to thank you for our new roof. When we first bought this house 3 years ago we knew that we would need a new roof soon. When we got in touch with Interlock Industries our roofing problems were solved. We were tired of going up on the roof year after year trying to repair the old shingles. After every storm shingles would blow off and end up scattered all over the yard. Now our troubles are over for LIFE!  The high cost is worth not having to go up there and try to make repairs that would just blow away with the next high winds, I also love the fact that the snow just falls right off with out any effort from us having to push it off.  I was a little worried about the rain and how loud it would be but I haven’t been able to notice any big difference in sound at all.

I wanted to thank the crew that installed the roof as well. They did a great job and they were very personable people that knew what they were doing. The job was done in a very timely manner. I was actually shocked at how soon toe product was delivered and then installed.

Thank you Interlock Industries for this roof of a lifetime!  We are very happy with the outcome and if we do end up buying another house we would definitely have one of these roots installed on it as well.

Top 10 Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lewiston

Homeowners researching metal roofing in Lewiston often have several important questions before replacing their roof. Many people want to understand how metal roofing compares to traditional materials like asphalt shingles in terms of lifespan, durability, cost, and long-term value. Roofing decisions can also be influenced by local weather conditions. Homes in Lewiston may experience environmental factors such as rain, wind, snow, heat, fire, or seasonal storms that can impact roof performance over time. The following frequently asked questions help explain what homeowners should know when evaluating metal roofing and why many people choose durable roofing systems designed for long-term protection.

Metal roofs commonly last 40–70+ years, while asphalt shingles typically last 15–30 years. Lewiston experiences cold winters with significant snowfall and frequent freeze–thaw cycles, which increase roof stress from heavy snow loads and ice-damming and can shorten the life of less durable materials. Because of those local factors, homeowners often choose metal for its high snow-shedding ability, resistance to freeze–thaw damage, and lower long‑term maintenance compared with asphalt. Metal also resists rot and wind uplift better in Maine’s variable seasons, helping extend service life. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use heavy‑gauge aluminum and include a lifetime limited 50‑year transferable warranty designed for long‑term protection.
Metal roofs typically cost more upfront than asphalt shingles, but offer greater durability. In Lewiston, heavy winter snowfall (roughly 70–75 inches annually) and frequent freeze–thaw cycles increase demands on flashing, underlayment, and snow/ice‑management details—these local factors can raise installation time and costs. Final installed price depends on roof size, slope, complexity (ridges, valleys, skylights), tear‑off, flashing, and local labor rates. Many homeowners therefore compare options by lifetime value rather than initial price: durable metal systems often reduce future repair and replacement costs. Interlock Metal Roofing emphasizes long‑term ownership value and premium performance—positioning its products as an investment in reduced maintenance and longer service life rather than competing as the lowest‑cost roofing option.
Lewiston’s climate—cold, snowy winters with heavy annual snowfall and pronounced freeze–thaw cycles—matters: roofs face significant snow loads and repeated thawing that worsen wear and ice-dam risk. Lifespan: metal roofs typically last 40–70+ years; asphalt shingles 15–30 years. Maintenance: metal needs less routine care (cleaning, fastener checks); asphalt requires more frequent inspections, moss/algae cleaning and periodic replacement. Durability: metal better resists heavy snow, freeze–thaw damage and wind; asphalt is more vulnerable to granule loss and ice-dam related leaks. Long-term value: metal’s higher upfront cost is offset by longer service life and lower life-cycle costs for homeowners prioritizing durability and long-term protection; asphalt can be economical short-term. Interlock Metal Roofing systems appeal in Lewiston because their interlocking profiles improve leak resistance under snow and ice, offer long-term performance, and provide architectural curb appeal for homeowners seeking lasting protection.
Many people think metal roofs are noisy in rain, but that’s a common myth. Modern residential metal roofs installed over solid decking and proper underlayment do not sound like open‑framed barn roofs. Sound depends on the full roof assembly: insulation, attic airspace, underlayment, and interior finishes all reduce impact noise. Installation quality matters—correct fasteners, clips, flashing, and ventilation minimize rattling. Properly designed and installed residential metal roofs typically sound similar to asphalt shingle or tile roofs in normal rainfall. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are supplied and installed as complete roofing systems specifically for residential homes, with components chosen to control weather and sound.
In Lewiston, ME, a metal roof can be energy efficient because reflective finishes reduce solar heat gain in summer, lowering cooling needs. Overall energy performance also depends on the roof assembly, insulation levels and attic ventilation—proper insulation and ventilation limit winter heat loss and reduce ice dams. Because Maine has cold, snowy winters and warm summers, climate conditions affect benefits: reflective coatings help in summer but winter heating needs may offset some gains. Homeowners researching roof replacement often prioritize energy efficiency to lower utility bills, improve year‑round comfort, prevent moisture issues, qualify for incentives, and boost resale value. Choose colors and coatings suited to Lewiston’s climate for the best results. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are designed to support long-term home performance.
Lewiston, ME experiences significant precipitation and heavy snow—about 48 inches of rain and roughly 74 inches of snow annually—plus occasional severe storms and higher wind events that can stress roofs. Wind and storm exposure locally has increased, raising risk from high gusts and tropical-storm–related winds. Metal roofing performs well in wind, sheds snow quickly, resists water intrusion, and can tolerate hail better than many materials when engineered for impact resistance. Actual performance depends on roofing system design, installation quality, and material durability. Homeowners consider weather resilience to protect structure, prevent leaks and ice-dam damage, and reduce repair or replacement costs. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered for durability, hail protection, and wind resistance, and when properly specified and installed offer strong performance in Lewiston’s climate.
Metal roofing performance in Lewiston, ME depends largely on the metal chosen. Different metals resist corrosion and rust to varying degrees—galvanized steel, galvalume, and aluminum each behave differently—while some materials offer superior resistance. Aluminum performs particularly well in wet or coastal environments because it forms a stable oxide layer that prevents further corrosion. Homeowners should prioritize corrosion resistance to extend roof lifespan, reduce maintenance and leak risk, protect warranties, and maintain property value in Maine’s damp climate. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use aluminum construction engineered for strong corrosion resistance and are further protected by the Alunar Coating System for extra defense against moisture and environmental wear. This combination makes Interlock a durable, low‑maintenance choice for Lewiston homeowners seeking long-term protection.
Metal roofs in Lewiston, Maine are generally considered low-maintenance due to their durability and resistance to rot and insect damage. That said, no roof is completely maintenance-free: homeowners should perform periodic inspections—after storms and seasonally—to spot problems early. Clear leaves, needles and ice from roof surfaces and gutters to prevent standing water and abrasion; check flashing, sealant, fasteners and all penetrations (vents, chimneys, skylights) for looseness, corrosion, or gaps. Heavy snow loads, freeze–thaw cycles, ice dams and wind-driven debris common in Maine can affect performance, so address damage promptly. With routine checks and minor upkeep, metal roofing offers a long-lasting, low-maintenance option well suited to Lewiston’s climate.
In Lewiston, ME, metal roofing can increase home value because buyers often prioritize durable, low‑maintenance roofs that reduce future maintenance concerns. Premium roofing materials also boost curb appeal—an important factor in resale—and a long lifespan gives buyers added confidence when considering an older property. In Lewiston’s seasonal climate, metal’s resistance to snow, ice and wind is especially appealing. Many buyers are willing to pay a premium for proven materials and reduced upkeep, so metal can be a sound investment when selling. Architectural style matters; a metal roof that fits neighborhood character preserves value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems offer multiple architectural profiles—slate, cedar shingle, Mediterranean tile, shake, and standing seam—and are available in heavy‑gauge aluminum and solid copper, letting homeowners match historic or modern aesthetics while delivering longevity and low upkeep.
As a Lewiston homeowner comparing roofing materials: Interlock Metal Roofing Systems are compatible with solar when fitted with custom solar brackets installed by Interlock Metal Roofing – New England. Lewiston experiences heavy winter snow and pronounced freeze–thaw cycles, which increase snow load and thermal movement on roofs. Roof lifespan matters when adding panels—long‑lasting materials reduce the need to remove panels for reroofing. Consider future solar plans when replacing a roof: durable metal systems are often preferred because they support engineered solar mounts. Interlock systems are solar‑compatible and designed to accept custom brackets and mounting solutions, helping protect your investment in Lewiston’s climate.
