Tyngsborough, MA has cold, snowy winters with regular freeze–thaw cycles that increase the risk of ice dams and require proper snow guards and durable flashing. Annual precipitation (rain + snow) is roughly 47 inches, and Nor'easters can create heavy snow loads and wind-driven moisture that affect roofing performance. Excerpt: Happy with the Metal Shingles product and installers from Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. in Tyngsborough, MA, but frustrated by poor communication and an unclear contract—no homeowner plan was provided to confirm shingle placement, snow guard locations, or work on bay windows and the front porch. The crew installed only three snow guards instead of the ten shown in my expectations, and scheduling/notification failures began with the salesperson; despite this, the roof looks good so far. Clearer written plans and explicit contract details (materials, snow guards, exact roof areas) would prevent miscommunication and better protect against New England’s heavy snow loads and freeze–thaw issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Direct answers to the questions homeowners ask most.

How long does an Interlock metal roof last?

An Interlock roof is engineered as a lifetime system — designed for 50+ years of service and backed by a transferable 50-year limited warranty. Most homeowners never roof again.

How much does an Interlock metal roofing system cost?

Pricing depends on your roof’s size, pitch, complexity, and the profile and color you choose. An Interlock roof costs more upfront than asphalt but never needs replacing — paying for itself through decades of zero re-roofing costs and lower energy bills. Request a free, no-obligation quote for exact pricing.

Is the warranty transferable if I sell my home?

Yes. Every Interlock roof includes a 50-year limited material warranty that transfers to the new owner — a documented selling point when your home goes to market.

Do Interlock metal roofs protect against hail?

Yes. Interlock systems carry the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest hail-resistance rating available — withstanding a 2-inch steel ball dropped from 20 feet without cracking or splitting.

Are metal roofs hot in summer?

No — the opposite. The Alunar® Coating System uses Cool Roof ceramic IR-reflective pigments that reflect solar energy, and Interlock roofs are CRRC rated, helping reduce attic temperatures and summer cooling costs by up to 25%.

Are metal roofs loud when it rains?

No. Interlock roofs install over your existing deck and underlayment, so rain noise is comparable to — often quieter than — an asphalt roof.

Does metal roofing work in extreme cold and heavy snow?

Yes. Aluminum doesn’t crack, split, or lose impact resistance through freeze-thaw cycling, and the interlocked panels shed snow and resist ice damming. The same Interlock aluminum construction was selected for a research station in Antarctica.

Is Interlock approved for Florida building codes?

Yes. Interlock systems carry Florida Product Approval FL7263-R7 under the Florida Building Code, are tested to UL 580 / TAS 125 wind uplift standards, and are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph.
