Aluminum vs. Steel
Your aluminum roof will not rust like steel roofing
Is it noisy when it rains?
No. The aluminum panel forming process provides not only strength but also reduces any potential noise transfer when coupled with high-density standard attic insulation.
“We had a tremendous thunderstorm come through and a downpour that was second to none. The noise from the rain hitting the roof was quieter than on the old shingle roof.’
Mark and Nancy S. / Batavia, IL
Will it make our home hot in the summer?
No. Unlike concrete tile or asphalt shingle, which store and transfer heat, metal absorbs and dissipates heat quickly. Airflow under the roof helps prevent the transfer of cold air and reduces freeze thaw cycles in the winter. Results include lower air conditioning and heating costs for your home.
Will hail damage my Interlock Roof?
Excessively large hail can damage almost anything, but Interlock Roofs have a UL 2218 Class 4-hail resistance rating, the highest rating available. In some states, the class 4 rating entitles homeowners to as much as a 35% reduction on homeowners insurance.
What about fire?
Naturally Resistant to Fire, with Class A Rating available. Interlock is fire resistant
Should I be worried about rust?
No. All our roofs and trims are made from heavy gauge aluminum that will not rust. In addition the heavily layered aluminum is coated with a warranted and quality Alunar® Coating System embedded with Teflon™ Surface Protector.
How long can I expect for my Interlock Roof to last?
An aluminum roof is a permanent roof system. With little maintenance, it will last as long as your home.
What can I expect of my Interlock Roof during high winds?
Interlock Metal Roofing Systems are tested and will resist wind speeds of up to one hundred and twenty (120) mph (193kph) .
How does my Interlock Roof rate on earthquake safety?
Interlock Roof panels are lightweight, flexible and structurally sound, making them one of the safest, most durable roof coverings available in earthquake – prone regions. Compare this to the “the top heavy affect” of 15 tons of concrete tile on your roof.
Is it safe to walk on my Interlock Roof?
While it is safe to walk on, in accordance to manufacturers’ instructions, the low-maintenance Interlock Roof almost eliminates that need. With Interlock Roofs, it is no longer necessary to replace trim and shingles that have blown off or to patch leaks in badly worn areas.
Will moss, leaves, dirt and debris damage or leave impressions on my Interlock Roof?
No. Interlock Roof’s smooth surface allows moss, leaves, dirt, and debris to wash off the roof naturally when it rains.
