Everett, WA Metal Roofing: Interlock Aluminum Shake Roof Review After 3 Weeks of Cooler, More Beautiful Curb Appeal

Everett, WA

James W.

Our Interlock Roof has now been installed three weeks and we couldn’t be more pleased. Suffice to say we haven’t yet experienced the winds and rains of winter, but we are enjoying a much cooler home interior, as advertised. Certainly the  compliments we have been receiving from neighbors and passersby have been most positive and rewarding. Our cul-de-sac has five homes, each with a different roof; <a class="wpil_keyword_link" title="shake" href="” data-wpil-keyword-link=”linked”>shake, tile, wood shingle, comp, and Interlock Aluminum, and needless to say which one stands out the most. Several have even asked if it’s a “<a class="wpil_keyword_link" title="slate" href="” data-wpil-keyword-link=”linked”>slate roof. We’ve had so many ask about it that I now carry three of the shake shingles around in my car to show people we visit what InterlLock is all about. Needless to say we’ve become quite an expert at “locking” them together.

The installation process was most impressive. We had two neighborhood homes, receive “comp” roofs while ours was being installed. They took about 3 days each to complete. Your installation team of Alex and Viktor Drigailo were here 11 days and what a pleasure and experience it was to observe their work. Just watching the time and care they exercised was sufficient to all that Interlock was a “different” roof. Their work ethic was something to behold and it was indeed our pleasure to have them with us for that period. We’ve even taken their photographs to remember them by.

Thank you all for making our new Interlock roof possible.

Top 10 Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Everett

Homeowners researching metal roofing in Everett often have several important questions before replacing their roof. Many people want to understand how metal roofing compares to traditional materials like asphalt shingles in terms of lifespan, durability, cost, and long-term value. Roofing decisions can also be influenced by local weather conditions. Homes in Everett may experience environmental factors such as rain, wind, snow, heat, fire, or seasonal storms that can impact roof performance over time. The following frequently asked questions help explain what homeowners should know when evaluating metal roofing and why many people choose durable roofing systems designed for long-term protection.

Metal roofs commonly last 40–70+ years, while typical asphalt shingles usually last 15–30 years depending on quality and maintenance. In Everett, annual precipitation is about 36–41 inches and persistent coastal moisture/humidity encourage moss, algae growth, and longer wet exposure—conditions that can accelerate wear on less durable roofing materials. Wind storms in Puget Sound also make wind-uplift resistance a local concern. Metal roofs shed rain and snow, resist rot and moss when properly coated/installed, and hold up better to wind than many asphalt systems, which is why homeowners choose durable metal systems for long-term protection. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use heavy-gauge aluminum and a lifetime limited 50-year transferable warranty designed for long-term protection.
Metal roofs in Everett typically cost more upfront than asphalt shingles, but exact pricing varies. Installers price jobs based on roof size, slope and complexity, required tear-off, flashing and skylight work, and local labor, permit and material conditions. Everett-area construction factors — seasonal demand, local labor rates and building permit requirements — can shift final cost compared with other markets. Many homeowners compare options on lifetime value rather than initial price: metal roofing’s greater durability, energy performance, and lower long-term maintenance can reduce future repair and replacement expenses. When evaluating bids, ask for expected service life, warranty terms, and lifecycle cost comparisons. Interlock Metal Roofing prioritizes long-term ownership value and durable performance rather than positioning as the lowest-cost option. We provide detailed, local quotes and lifecycle comparisons to help Everett homeowners make informed choices.
For Everett homeowners: metal roofing generally offers a much longer lifespan (40–70 years) versus asphalt shingles (15–30 years), lower routine maintenance, and superior resistance to rot, moss, and moisture-driven deterioration. Asphalt needs more frequent inspections, moss/algae cleaning and periodic replacement; metal is low‑maintenance and more impact-, wind-, and moisture‑resistant. Upfront cost for metal is higher, but long‑term value often wins for those prioritizing durability, lower replacement frequency, and energy savings. Local conditions matter: Everett’s rainy, maritime climate with frequent wet days and persistent humidity encourages moss and organic growth on shingles, and increases moisture exposure for roof systems. Homeowners who prioritize long‑term protection and curb appeal often choose metal. Interlock Metal Roofing systems appeal because they combine durable, weather‑resistant performance with strong architectural aesthetics and long service life.
No — that’s a common myth. Modern residential metal roofs installed over solid decking do not sound like barn roofs. When properly built, a metal roof sits on a continuous substrate and is often paired with underlayment, insulation, and attic space that significantly dampen rain noise. Factors such as insulation, roof assembly, and the presence of an air-filled attic cavity affect sound more than the metal itself. Quality installation—fastening, spacing, and ventilation—also matters. Properly installed residential metal roofs are typically similar in noise level to asphalt shingle or tile roofs. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are installed as complete roofing systems engineered for residential homes to minimize noise and maximize performance.
In Everett, WA, a metal roof can be energy efficient because its reflective surfaces reduce solar heat gain on sunny days. Actual savings depend on the full roof assembly—insulation levels, underlayment, and attic ventilation all influence thermal performance and moisture control. Everett’s cool, maritime climate means heating needs often dominate, so reflective benefits are smaller than in hot inland areas, but improved insulation and ventilation still cut heating costs and improve comfort. Homeowners researching roof replacement consider energy efficiency to lower utility bills, increase year‑round comfort, extend roof and HVAC lifespan, and boost resale appeal. Choose coatings, insulation, and ventilation holistically for best results. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are designed to support long-term home performance.
In Everett, WA, roofs face heavy rain, frequent wind gusts (often reaching 30+ mph) and periodic localized storms—including occasional hail from convergence‑zone events—so drainage, wind uplift, and impact resistance matter, and occasional snow/ice adds load in winter. Metal roofing sheds water, offers strong wind performance, and generally resists hail better than asphalt, but actual performance depends on roofing system design, installation quality, and material durability. Proper underlayment, fastening patterns, edges and flashings control leakage and wind uplift; thicker, impact‑rated panels and coatings increase hail protection. Homeowners prioritize weather resilience to avoid leaks, limit interior damage, reduce insurance claims, and preserve home value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered for durability, enhanced hail protection, and high wind resistance when correctly specified and installed.
Corrosion and rust resistance are key for metal roofing in Everett, WA. Metal roofing performance depends on the type of metal: steel, zinc, copper, and aluminum behave differently over time. Some materials (like galvanized or weathering steel) may corrode faster in salty or persistently wet conditions, while aluminum and zinc alloys are more corrosion-resistant. Aluminum performs especially well in wet or coastal environments because it naturally forms a protective oxide layer. Homeowners should prioritize corrosion resistance to avoid leaks, reduced lifespan, higher maintenance, and premature replacement. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use aluminum construction designed for strong corrosion resistance and are further protected by the Alunar Coating System for extra protection, offering long-term performance suited to Everett’s maritime, rainy climate.
Metal roofing in Everett, Washington, is generally low maintenance and highly durable, resisting rot, insects, and many weather effects. No roof is completely maintenance-free, so homeowners should inspect their metal roofs periodically—at least annually and after major storms. Check for accumulated debris, blocked gutters, loose or damaged flashing, and penetrations (vents, chimneys, skylights), and ensure fasteners and sealants remain intact. Seasonal heavy rain, wind, blowing branches, and occasional salt spray from Puget Sound can increase wear or cause debris buildup. Promptly clearing gutters and removing debris and addressing damaged flashings or seals helps extend service life. Overall, metal roofing remains a long-lasting, low-maintenance choice well suited to Everett’s climate.
In Everett, WA, metal roofing can increase home value because buyers prioritize durable, low‑maintenance roofs that lower long‑term costs and reduce maintenance concerns. Premium roofing materials also boost curb appeal, helping homes stand out in local markets. A long lifespan and strong performance in rain, wind and salt‑air environments common to Puget Sound improve buyer confidence at sale. Architectural style matters — a metal roof that complements neighborhood character and historic or modern styles is more likely to add perceived value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems offer multiple architectural profiles such as slate, cedar shingle, Mediterranean tile, shake, and standing seam available in heavy gauge aluminum and solid copper, letting homeowners match aesthetics while providing premium durability and longevity.
As a homeowner in Everett comparing roofs, prioritize materials that handle persistent coastal moisture, high rainfall and moss growth—the area has many wet days and high humidity that promote moss and algae on roofs. Interlock Metal Roofing Systems are compatible with solar installation with the installation of custom solar brackets installed by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. Roof lifespan matters when adding panels: long‑lasting materials (like metal) are often preferred because they reduce the chance of reroofing under arrays. If you plan solar later, specify it when replacing the roof so mounts and warranties are coordinated; Interlock systems are designed to support solar mounting solutions and lower maintenance in Everett’s wet, moss‑prone climate.
