EPDM rubber

Home / Glossary

EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber is a type of synthetic rubber commonly used in roofing. EPDM rubber roofing membranes are made from a single, large sheet of rubber that is rolled out over the roof deck, and then sealed at the edges to create a watertight barrier. EPDM roofing is often used in low-slope or flat roof applications, such as on commercial or industrial buildings.

EPDM rubber roofing has a number of advantages, including its durability, weather resistance, and ease of installation. It is also resistant to UV light, ozone, and extreme temperatures, making it a good choice for harsh climates. EPDM roofing is also low-maintenance, and can last up to 20-30 years with proper care.

Additionally, EPDM rubber roofing is environmentally friendly and energy efficient, as it can help reduce cooling costs by reflecting sunlight. It is also flexible, allowing it to move with the building and resist damage from wind and other elements. Overall, EPDM rubber roofing is a versatile and cost-effective roofing option that provides many benefits over other roofing materials.
