I was in the need for a new roof on my old home which was built in 1876
Last summer I realized I was in the need of a new roof on my old home which was built in 1876. I was hoping I could find a roof that accentuated the uniqueness and beauty of my old farm-style house. I always dreamed of owning a home with a metal roof, so I thought, well, let’s give this a look and see if it is an option. After searching for roofers and making some calls I found no one in my area offering metal roofs, needless to say, I became discouraged. Then, one day, on Facebook, I happened to see an ad with Midwest Roofing/Interlock Roofing showing the exact type of roof I was looking for!! I was so excited and called the number and was able to have an appointment arranged that very weekend. John came out, did some measuring, got up in my attic, then we sat and had a long, very informative discussion. John was extremely patient with my numerous questions and was able to explain things to me in layman’s terms, as I am not adept in the construction business, at all. So, the nitty gritty…I was originally thinking standing seam going into this whole project but then out came the slate look and oh my, that was it…The roof I had been looking for. It was exactly what needed to be on top of my house!!! And the black color just spoke to me…. John agreed!! Nowhere else had I ever seen a roof like the one I was about to have put on my beloved home. So, the price, while I knew a metal roof was going to cost more, I was looking more for security and peace of mind. I am a single parent of a child on the autism spectrum. I knew that I did not want to deal with roof issues in the future, the struggle to get a roofer to come to fix their problem, and the thought of having to replace it all over again just a few years down the road. Nope, the extra cost of this one-and-done roof was well worth it to me…after all, how do you put a price tag on peace of mind? And there aren’t many things in this world nowadays that can give you that. So, I signed the contract… The delivery…. how exciting…all these boxes lined up in my driveway…it was getting real!! Installation begins. Never in my lifetime have I met such an amazing installation crew, headed by Jesse. These guys worked tirelessly on transforming my average-looking home into the WOW home on the block. They took great care in working around my cupola and rock chimney, making sure everything was sealed where it needed to be, even reinforcing the cupola as it had been up there for so many years. These guys are not just installers, they are truly artists, and the pride in what they do shines in their workmanship. Even the care in the cleanup was amazing…very impressed. Any company can put out an amazing product, but for that product to remain amazing, that company has to have professional team members working with the customers…that is what you will get if you go with Interlock. Not just a stand-out product but a stand-out crew from sales, scheduling, and installation…it’s the whole package.
Sincerely, Megan R.
The metal roof looks great on my historic house
I cannot rave highly enough about the best experience I’ve ever had with a company and their employees. Their professionalism and workmanship were amazing. Interlock Metal Roofing did an exceptional job. The metal roof looks great on my historic house, and I continue to get compliments from the neighbors on how nicely the roof adds the finishing touch to the “1903 old lady. The roofers were incredible, arriving promptly first thing in the morning (7:30 am) and working every day until it was dark (8:30 pm). They would have finished the roof in the two-week period they had scheduled, but to our surprise, it was discovered that they had to remove four roofs installed on top of each other before they could install the new roof. There were no complaints, even though it added two extra work days to their schedule. They obviously left the place better than they found it, and I couldn’t be happier.
Sincerely, Christine C.

I love my Interlock Metal Roof!
I love my Interlock Metal Roof! It makes my whole house look more beautiful. I was so impressed by how quickly and efficiently the roof was installed. It will be a while before I retire, but when I do I want to spend my time and money on travel and other fun things. I am so glad I never have to worry about re-roofing then or ever again! Not only that, but my roof will be just as beautiful then as it is now. If you are thinking about re-roofing, give Interlock a look.
Sincerely, Louisa H.
The materials that you used were of the highest quality
The materials that you used were of the highest quality. I recognize that the ventilated, insulated plywood used for the insulation of the roof, and the slate-pattern aluminum shingles were the materials that were specified in the original quotation and we are very satisfied with this material. However, what particularly impressed me was your voluntary use of the high quality RoofTopGuard II vapour barrier that your staff felt would give us a better end product, given the site conditions. This material upgrade clearly demonstrated the concern that you have for the quality of work you do.
The install crew was punctual and professional in all phases of the contracted work
We contracted in late December for Interlock Roofing to install a new Interlocking Roof. Once we finalized the deal it took about 2 weeks to have the materials delivered and work to begin. On the first day of the project, the front of the house was stripped of the old roof material and about 1/4 of the new roof installed. We were impressed that there was very little refuse in the yard and the amount of work that was accomplished on the first day. Of course, everything can’t go right with any project, in conversing with the crew chief I did not mention that we live about 14 miles from everywhere. Also, the salesman did not inform him either. We were unable to be here for the first day and when we did speak with the crew chief, he said that they nearly ran out of gas and did not have lunch the first day. We felt really bad about that but that set back did not affect the professionalism or diligence of the crew. On the second day, they completed the installation of the front roof, removed the old roof on the rear and prepared the bare underlayment to weather the rain due the next day. We weathered the storm with no leaks. Thursday brought the sun and our new roof. It looks great and the craftsmanship is excellent. I would recommend the Interlock roof for anyone that is looking for a roof that will last a lifetime.
Beautiful and functional Interlock roof that is quiet when it rains
Just a few days ago my husband and I were excited to see our new Interlock aluminum roof completed in the gorgeous eye popping finish of copper penny shake topping our newly purchased log home in Bellingham WA. We are so thankful for the signage that the company uses when completing new roofs because when we were first looking at our home and considering a purchase we happened to drive by a house just down the road that had the same copper finish aluminum Interlock roof that we eventually decided on. Seeing this roof installed on another house was the impetus that we needed to call the company and begin our inquiry well before we even purchased our home. We did our homework and considered other roofing materials and companies, but Interlock stood out in our minds as our top choice. The Interlock salesmen, Ross and Paul also went out of their way to come and look at the home and the roofing and bring samples to put on the roof for us to see during our inspection period. They also met with us immediately after closing on a Sunday as we wanted to lock in on a date for installation as soon as we could. We have a very large square footage of roofing, as well as a roof line that is very prominent on the house and we wanted to do something to enhance the stately character for what is definitely a very magical house and property. We have only now owned our house for less than two months, and already have our beautiful new roof completely installed. As we closed on our house in mid-October and we live in the Pacific NW near the Canadian border, this is already a feat. The team of roofers who were sent by Interlock to do our installation were some of the hardest working, most focused, and skilled labor crew we have had the pleasure of coming across. They completed the job in 2.5 weeks, working weekdays and Saturdays, arriving at 7:30 AM and working until 6 PM into the darkness with headlamps on. They worked in rain, cold, and very windy conditions, removing 90,000 lbs. of clay tile roofing and replacing it with the Interlock 100 year warrantied high quality roofing. The team was extremely respectful, also replacing a skylight that we added to the job mid-way and reinforcing roofing around other skylights that appeared to be leaking. All members of the Interlock company that we have spoken with or had contact with otherwise have been friendly and personable, respectful, and quickly and effectively addressed any questions or issues that we have brought to their attention. We feel safe and secure under our beautiful and functional Interlock roof that is quiet when it rains and lets the water run off in rivulets into the eaves. We thank everyone at Interlock and hope to have a long and successful relationship with Interlock and our new roof.

We are very satisfied with the roof and very glad we will never have to purchase another roof again
In 2004 my wife and I decided to purchase the lifetime Interlock Roof. I was fifty at the time and had been called over to my Father In Laws house several times to clean out his gutters and clean off his roof with a pressure washer. I told my wife I did not want our kids to have to do that for us in our later years. The situation with my in-laws provided the motivation to start the search for a permanent roof. We landed on the Interlock Roof at the Western Washington Fair in 2004. The roof was installed and have not had any problems afterwards. There are some idiosyncrasies with this type of roof:
- The roof is not made to be walked on
- When it snows the snow builds up for a 1 to 3-inch amount and then slides off the roof and onto the ground below
- The roof keeps its original look, never needs to be pressure washed off or any other maintenance.
We are very satisfied with the roof and very glad we will never have to purchase another roof again.
The temperature inside our garage was approximately 20 degrees cooler than before the roof
We had the Interlock Roof put on our home this month and I am satisfied with the look and performance of the roof so far. The crew completed the roof in a timely fashion, and was very professional! Our neighbors have paid us compliments about the roof. I really look forward to the longevity of the roof. The temperature the week following the installation was in the 80’s, and the roof kept the temperature inside our house at 75. We did not have to run the air conditioning until we reached the 90’s. The temperature inside our garage was approximately 20 degrees cooler than before the roof. To anyone looking to replace his or her roof, I would recommend the Interlock Roofing System!
Sincerely, Doug J.
The performance of the new roof has been exceptional
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home.

At the recommendation of a neighbor, we chose Interlock Roofing and we couldn’t be happier
At the recommendation of a neighbor, we chose Interlock Roofing and we couldn’t be happier. We’ve been homeowners for 40+ years and fortunately have never had to worry about a roof, as our houses were new, and we moved somewhat frequently. Then two years ago we bought a second home on the Oregon Coast and knew we would have to replace the roof within a few years. Until finding out about Interlock, I fretted about having it replaced. So, after having our second home’s roof replaced, I asked Damon to inspect our main, 16-year old house in Portland. He thought it had anywhere from 2 to 5 years life in it, but we opted to have it replaced for three reasons. First, why wait for a leak, second, because the warranty is going to outlive me and finally…it will never be cheaper. The roof is absolutely beautiful and is the envy of the neighborhood. Dealing with Interlock has been such a pleasure on ALL fronts. The communication throughout the process was flawless. They did everything and more that was promised. Very few products and services have ever impressed me more.
Sincerely, Steve G.
Upgrade our 100-year-old Chicago bungalow
The investment we made in a new aluminum slate style shingle roof was much more than we wanted to spend, but when we analyzed the pros and cons, including the cost, it came out ahead. We wanted to upgrade our 100-year-old Chicago bungalow and, in particular, rejuvenate the attic and basement spaces. We also want to install a solar panel array on the roof while the current incentives with the IRS, the state and the utility net metering system are still in effect. We wanted to reduce the massive composite shingle tonnage that is covering the incredible sea of roofs across the land. This is undoubtedly a rather large carbon footprint and the short lifespan of many roofs (10-15 years) are causing us to fill and foul unsustainable dumpsites. The weight of our aluminum roof is less than 850 lbs., compared to 3-4 tons of architectural composite shingles. The Interlock roof is a lifetime roof warrantied for 50 years. When/if it is ever replaced, it will be completely recycle-able. Much of the heat captured by composite shingle roofs is reflected by the aluminum. Previously, our attic could reach temperatures near 130°F. We have seen a significant reduction in afternoon attic temps, 10-20 degrees. The installers, Jesse, Sal and Ben were very professional, safe and kind to us. They took the extra time to do it right and solve problems rather than take an easier route. They maintained social distancing and wore masks when necessary. They screwed down OSB sheathing on the existing 100-year-old deck boards which are stamped Sterling Lumber and Supply Co. "The Yards with the Stock". This company was located two blocks from our house in the early 1900s. Interlock continues a tradition from Sterling Lumber to build to last a lifetime. The original 1919 roof rafters were 2"x4"x16' and held up under numerous Chicago blizzards and storms. Prior to the project, we augmented the rafters with 2"x6"x16' #1 southern yellow pine. Hopefully, the roof will bear another century of Chicago climate change. The Interlock Industries' workers installed 95 snow guards to breakup snow slides off the roof. The roof is very attractive and my neighbors have complemented the looks of it. The siding on the dormers were also replaced with the aluminum shingles. We had a choice of several shingle colors and chose one called gunflint. The shingles have a slate-like surface that is embossed on the aluminum to give it a textured appearance and perhaps breakup wind and water flows. The Interlock installers removed and sheathed over the chimney and vent caps and added a ridge vent. They installed soffit vents which apparently were never a feature of the house. They removed the gutters and reinstalled them in order to fit the drip edge flashing and lock down the shingles. Everything is fastened with screws powered by cordless screw guns. They did not use air compressors. They had safety lanyards attached to the ridge and foot boards around the perimeter of the roof throughout the installation. We are very satisfied with the look of our new roof and ready to install solar panels which won't have to be removed to re-roof because the roof will probably last longer than the solar panels. We are not young anymore and the long-term value of this project will most likely benefit others and the neighborhood more than us, but for the time being, we are happy customers.
Nice to not have snow building up over time
Positive: Professionalism, Quality Showed up early on the agreed upon date and completed the job quickly in a professional manner. We are happy with our new shingles. Took a bit to get used to snow coming off of the roof. (Nice to not have snow building up over time.)
Stunning roof in three days that would last our lifetime
Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value We are delighted with our new metal roof. We frequently receive compliments about how well it suits the style of our house. We were very impressed with every aspect of the contract, from the first contact with the salesperson to the completion, clean-up of the site and quality control follow-up. The salesperson was very fair in the negotiations over price, the work crew was outstanding, and we had a stunning roof in three days that would last our lifetime. I Totally recommend these people - you won’t be disappointed.
No longer having to worry about the roof during periods of heavy wind!
We love our new roof and have no regrets. The installers were professional, conscientious, and didn’t leave any mess behind. We love the look of the new roof and have had many compliments from neighbours. But the best part is no longer having to worry about the roof during periods of heavy wind!
Original from 2012 looks identical to the new one
Positive: Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value Completed a new roof on major part of my house in 2012, was undecided if i would remove the add on.... 2019 decided to complete the roof on the add on ....WOW, was able to get the same roof featuring a slate look. Original from 2012 looks identical to the new one. Both look like they are brand new... Could not be happier with this company.
A metal roof was the best option for our needs
My wife recently purchased our home, and we were aware that the roof was getting close to end of life. We researched a few different options and came across Interlock Metal Roof. After meeting with John from InterLock, it became clear to us that a metal roof was the best option for our needs. We plan to live in our home for 30+ years, and while a metal roof is more expensive than a traditional roof, it will be more than worth it over that period of time. We will never have to replace our roof again! It was also great to know that the roof could be installed over the existing shingles, reducing both the mess of the project and the waste created by the old shingles. Jesse and his crew did a great job installing the new roof, and we could not be happier with both the look and the quality of the aluminum shingles. We would recommend InterLock to anyone considering replacing their roof.
Thank you Interlock for a great experience and a fantastic roof! Steve and Claire
The roof looks exceptional!
Dear John, We were in the market and knew we wanted a metal roof. I came across Interlock while doing some research and contacted them immediately. While it is on the pricey side, knowing that this roof will last a lifetime is very comforting. At the time of this review, we’ve only had it for a week. The weather hasn’t been terribly hot to determine if it's cooler. Other than that, the roof looks exceptional! Plenty of materials for the roof were delivered a day prior to installation, and quite a few materials were even left over. The existing roof didn’t require removal before installation, which made it possible to install over it and complete it in five days. There was a rainstorm one of the days; otherwise, they would’ve completed the installation in four days. The three-man crew (Salvador, Esteban & Humberto) were very courteous, knowledgeable professionals and took pride in their work. Under the supervision of Jesse and the young man (Benjamin), cleaning up the area made the installation run quickly and smoothly. The entire team was a pleasure to work with!
Highly recommend Interlock! Bradley Family
Another perfect installation!
Nov 1, 2019 — Posted on HomeStars.com Maritime Permanent Roofing used a sub contractor from Edmonton, Alberta. It became obvious why this company was selected for this job. Our 3500 sq. foot roof was installed in two days and as promised, another perfect installation! These guys know what they are doing and it shows in their work . I will insist on using this particular company when our other building need to be re-roofed . Nov 9, 2022 — Posted on Google Critical: Responsiveness Roof started 2019 and not completed as of November 2022. Damaged roof due to not installing snow guards on second story. Will not use this company to do our other building. Service: Roof installation
What a great install team, polite, good quality work
We just had our interlock slate roof installed. What a great install team, polite, good quality work, had people there only to do clean up all day long, and fast. They answered any questions we had on the installation and addressed things right away we wanted to be changed. We are so happy with the product, and the installation left our porch cleaner than when they started! So happy with it and highly recommend the company. Quality product and installation team.
The price value is worth it in the end
Dear John, Thanks for doing such a great job on our roof! We initially found out about Interlock from looking at a neighbors roof and seeing how nice it looked. We were in the market for a roof, so we asked for a referral and then contacted Interlock. John was very knowledgeable and offered some great options. We were a bit hesitant at first for two main reasons. First, we got a little sticker shock because the price was so much higher than an average roof, and Second, because we were scared the roof would be noisy when it was raining since it was metal. For one, the price value is worth it in the end. You know you received a quality roof that will be the last roof you’ll buy on that property. Comparing it to others that you’ll almost always replace in 7-10 years, this one is worth it. It also looks much more beautiful, and as far as the noise, there really is no difference. We’re happy with how the roof looks, the installation was easy, all crew members were courteous, and there have been zero issues with the roof. We already had it for a year when writing this testimonial, and we are still happy with our decision.
Thanks Nick S.
Our Interlock Metal roof is all we had hoped it would be!
Our Interlock Metal roof is all we had hoped it would be! Folks often stop by and ask about it. We direct them to the company with complete assurance that they will be as happy as we are. My photo doesn't capture the bright blue color. When locals give directions that include our home, it is referred to as the "happy house." Every season looks even more beautiful surrounding our home. The men who worked on it could not have been nicer, more thorough, or more patient with us! Service: Roof installation
My only disappointment is that I anticipated listening to the rain hitting the metal roof - but it's actually very quiet.
Dear John, Several years ago, I became fascinated with the idea of a metal roof. Tired of constantly looking at my roof for signs of deterioration, I wondered if a metal roof was a realistic option for a home, as I only noticed them on barns and businesses. A few months ago, you and Mike Rasmussen visited my home to provide an estimate. I was shocked at the number of options for beautiful metal roofs that were not just functional but very attractive. Now, with the job complete – I couldn’t be more pleased. Neighbors and friends all have the same response, wondering if this is really a metal roof and commenting on how attractive it is. One of my concerns in deciding upon a new roof related to my previous experience with roofers. A twenty-year warranty for a roofing company that went out of business, asphalt shingles that began deteriorating less than ten years after installation, with manufacturers blaming the installer and the installer blaming the manufacturer, made warranties meaningless. My experience with Interlock has been excellent from beginning to end. Knowing that Interlock both manufactures and installs its roofs eliminated my concern about responsibility. A lifetime warranty (limited to 50 years when I sell my house) means I no longer have to worry about replacing my roof. It’s such a relief to know I am done with such concerns. You and Mike assured me that the installers would be meticulous and clean the area around my house every night; however, they did far more than that. I have seen many roofs installed, and it is usually a quick installation. Under the careful supervision of Jessie, the installers tediously worked to cut and detail each section. Working around the chimneys, they worked to be sure every detail was perfect, spending several hours in one small area. Preparing the areas around the eaves and valleys (not sure how to describe things) was very time-consuming as they wanted everything to be perfect. This is something else my neighbors noticed. The pride they took in their work was apparent at every turn as they answered all my questions and explained why they were doing various things. When they began working on the addition, one of the workers asked me if that room was cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I thought he was clairvoyant because it has always been the most uncomfortable room in the house. He explained there was no vent on that part of the roof, which impedes airflow. They added a vent, at no extra cost, once more, an indication of their commitment to excellence. I’m looking forward to seeing the difference in the winter – hoping I can remove the space heater. There was one young man who spent each day making sure everything was cleaned up. None of my trees, plants, or flowerpots were damaged. I’m not sure they were even touched. After each of the four days, the only indication that work was being done was the dumpster in my driveway, as everything was meticulously cleaned. Concern for the environment is very important to me, and knowing that my roof eliminates additional landfill waste is definitely an additional benefit. Thank you for living up to every promise you made when you first visited. I couldn’t be more pleased with my investment. A few neighbors who recently got new roofs were sorry they hadn’t known about how attractive, and permanent metal roofs are. A few others have said they will seriously consider metal roofs when it’s time to replace their existing roofs. So my years-long dream of a metal roof is complete; far more attractive than I ever imagined, highly functional and permanent. My only disappointment is that I anticipated listening to the rain hitting the metal roof – but it’s actually very quiet. For most, I guess that is another plus. I would be happy to answer any questions potential metal roof owners might have, as I am so pleased with my purchase (investment).
Best Wishes, Patti Marino

The three-person crew was very courteous
My wife and I are very impressed with the looks of the INTERLOCK black slate roofing system that was just installed on our home in the Huntclub Road / Conroy Road area in Ottawa. The crew that installed the roofing material during the 3rd and 4th weeks of January 2019 worked through and around temperatures between +.5°C to -25.°C, two weather events that dropped 46 cm of snow and 6 mm of rain and freezing rain plus the occasional days of lite snow flurries. The lead installer told me that a normal installation for the size of our roof could take 2 to 3 days in the spring, summer and fall but with the unpredictable weather doing winter jobs, it can take longer as some days with the extreme cold and dumps of snow it’s just too dangerous to work outside let alone on a roof. The three-person crew was very courteous and answered any and all questions my wife and I had during the installation process, and they made sure the work site was clean and tidy before leaving for home.
Thank you, Anna and Randy
Interlock Metal Roofing Illinois was very professional and did a great job
Interlock Metal Roofing - Illinois was very professional and did a great job.
We couldn’t be happier with the service and the product
We are very pleased with our new roof installed by Interlock Metal Roofing. The house looks beautiful, more than I imagined. You Paul Wright, as our salesman, are appreciated for all the information about the product and the no pressure approach you do. The installers were wonderful. They were great to work with—cleaned the area around the house each night. Our house was three days from start to finish …amazing to watch. We couldn’t be happier with the service and the product.
Thank you, Mike and Elaine D.
