We had to replace our shingles after the 2022 hurricane
We had to replace our shingles after the 2022 hurricane in our area. We chose a metal roof (aluminum) because of its durability and wind damage guarantee. We have a large, steep roof with dormers. We got 4 estimates and Ontario Roofing was the most reasonable and professional to deal with at that stage. As we awaited installation, it was easy to get in touch with the company and the production manager for updates. We are very happy with the new roof and the quality of the installation. The 2-person crew worked steadily over 2 weeks. They were friendly, quiet, and hard-working. We would definitely recommend Ontario Roofing.

The future of roofing
Bruce was completely thorough in his presentation of why metal shingles were the future of roofing. Product selection was great, and Bruce was pleasant and friendly. The process was longer than expected, but the results were fantastic. Having the neighbours come by and ask questions definitely means we made the right choice. The compliments were many. Thank you to Interlock roofing and the team for their service and workmanship.

If the VP of a company gives you his personal cell phone number that speaks volumes to the confidence he has in his products
From our initial consultation at our home with Carter and Brian (VP) to the installation we couldn’t be happier. When Brian gave us his personal cell phone number that did it for me. If the VP of a company gives you his personal cell phone number, that speaks volumes to the confidence he has in his products. Carter came back a second time to put our minds at ease with our colour selection. Our installation crew was amazing! Maurice and Brian are top-notch gentlemen who did an amazing job. Having a pool, I was concerned about nails and other debris ending up in it. Well, there was absolutely nothing in my pool. You could tell they took pride in the work they did because they took pictures of themselves in front of our home when it was complete. They seemed proud of the job they did. Maurice kept saying it has to be done right the first time because they don’t want to come back (although they are always welcome to stop by for a visit if they are in the area). We were initially concerned that the roof might be louder when it rains, but it’s actually quieter. Our daughter used to wake up through the night when it rained but now she sleeps right through. It could be because they were able to go right over the existing asphalt shingles which also reduces landfill waste. I never thought I would get compliments on a roof. People walk by and say it looks great. When I pull up to my home I say wow that roof looks good! It’s a premium roof at a premium price, but one shot and you are done.

This roof was one of the best decisions we made on the house
We had our roof installed in 2006. Since then, we have added some more snow guards. Today Brad Cook installed more snow guards to protect our new deck. He was professional and efficient. He was impressed with the appearance of our roof. Said it looked new. I said this roof was one of the best decisions we made on the house. Very happy.

The three-person crew was very courteous
My wife and I are very impressed with the looks of the INTERLOCK black slate roofing system that was just installed on our home in the Huntclub Road / Conroy Road area in Ottawa. The crew that installed the roofing material during the 3rd and 4th weeks of January 2019 worked through and around temperatures between +.5°C to -25.°C, two weather events that dropped 46 cm of snow and 6 mm of rain and freezing rain plus the occasional days of lite snow flurries. The lead installer told me that a normal installation for the size of our roof could take 2 to 3 days in the spring, summer and fall but with the unpredictable weather doing winter jobs, it can take longer as some days with the extreme cold and dumps of snow it’s just too dangerous to work outside let alone on a roof. The three-person crew was very courteous and answered any and all questions my wife and I had during the installation process, and they made sure the work site was clean and tidy before leaving for home.
Thank you, Anna and Randy

We need more people like them and the customer service they provided was exemplary
My husband and I just wanted to let you know how pleased we are with our new roof and to give you a bit of feedback on your installers. Jeremy and Alex showed up when they said they would and worked very hard every day they were here. They had to deal with very high temperatures and humidity, but it didn’t slow them down. They are very dedicated individuals, friendly, polite, and very knowledgeable about what they were doing. We need more people like them and the customer service they provided was exemplary. They are both truly an asset to your organization and we just wanted to say well done and to let management know what terrific people they have hired. We will definitely recommend your company if we hear of anyone needing to replace their roof.

We are pleased with our decision to purchase Interlock
Hi Barry, We have been meaning to send you feedback with respect to the purchase and installation of our new roof. The installation went well and was done with little interference in our daily routine. As you may well know, the installers are completely self-sufficient, including washroom facilities. The workmen kept the job safe, secured each day, and cleaned up well afterward. We are pleased with our decision to purchase Interlock and comforted by the professional way in which you and the entire team interacted with us. Our neighbours are showing interest and see the apparent craftsmanship and benefits. Thank you for helping us along the way with your personal commitment to seeing that our questions and concerns were always answered promptly. P.S. Please let us know whom to contact to have the lawn sign removed or arrange to remove it. The 10-week period is approaching fast, 5 September.
Kind regards, David and Jacquie G.

We are the owners of a very charming rustic log home
Our new Interlock aluminum roof is stunning, and the house is as charming as ever. We are the owners of a very charming rustic log home. The high-pitch roof, dormers and original cedar shake shingles were very pretty, and the crowning touches to the log cabin look. Consequently, when it was time to replace the roof, I was very nervous about going with metal despite the superior longevity of a metal roof. However, I am very happy to report that our new Interlock aluminum roof is stunning, and the house is as charming as ever. My husband is pleased with the rust resistance of aluminum and the wrap-around edging of the shingles while I am in raptures about the roof's look. The Interlock installers were absolutely fabulous. Nicholas and his crew from Gatineau are a wonderful group of young men. They were professional, knowledgeable, careful, and did excellent work. They were very accommodating; they took the time to explain things to us, address our every concern, were careful with our grounds and property, and left a clean work site every night. They worked weekends to beat the rain and never left the roof exposed to the elements. They were also careful about workplace safety and used their ropes and harnesses at all times. Our roof-line is challenging with its steep pitch (12×12 on the main roof and 18×12 on the central dormer) and multiple dormers. It takes a very skilled crew to do a good job on a roof like that, and Nick’s crew did an excellent job. I have only the highest of praises for Nicholas and his Gatineau crew.

Its totally changed the way people view my home. I'm getting all kinds of compliments
I saw a home on my street that looked so striking; I knocked on the door to ask where they got their roof. The homeowner, Sebastian, said that he had researched for years to pick a roof that was a good fit for his family. He chose Interlock. I called Interlock and was contacted by a salesperson – John. We had a wonderful experience with John’s visit. He was very knowledgeable about the product and was very thorough in his explanation of how the roofing system would be installed. The installers were very good. They were polite, courteous, and respectful of our property. They kept it very clean. They answered all my questions about what they were doing throughout the installation process. We are so happy that they were able to fix the sag in the roof. I will install another Interlock roof in a heartbeat on any home I own. Interlock is a great organization – the people are wonderful. I only wish I had done it earlier. My house looks so nice now. It’s totally changed the way people view my home. I’m getting all kinds of compliments.

Very pleased with their work and our new roof
Good morning Dave, As you probably know, Moses and Fred finished our installation on Sunday. We are very pleased with their work and our new roof. Moses mentioned that someone from Interlock would be stopping by to inspect their work this morning. Could that person also pick up the Interlock lawn sign? It will either be on the lawn or by the side garage door. Moses said this sign was for us to keep, but we will not have any use for it, while you can recycle it for another project.
Thanks Mark and Pat

The noise of the rain on the aluminum roof is not much different from that of the asphalt shingles
Dear Interlock, My asphalt shingle roof was starting to curl and disintegrate after just ten years. Although I had considered metal the last time around, the cost seemed too high. This experience suddenly made it seem like the better choice. Barry arrived on June 16 and delivered a wonderful presentation on the merits of Interlock aluminum products, reaffirming much of the information available on the internet. The price quoted was more or less as expected, although he did talk me out of the more expensive shake profile which featured in my plans. The one surprise was that my preferred colour, the aged copper, came at an added cost. It would have been helpful had the website indicated that it commanded a premium price. The timeline was for installation anywhere from 2 to 7 weeks from signing. Provincial Foreman Tony advised me that the boxes of metal shingles and other materials would be delivered on June 27, but they actually arrived early the following morning. Kelly headed up the crew who did the actual installation. He kept me advised about timing and let me know when illness delayed their arrival by a few days. They showed up as promised on July 7 and had about half the house done before noon, working very smoothly together as a team, with the underlayment completed. Note that the underlayment comes with its own 50-year warranty and claims that it can cover a roof for up to six months without protection. This may be standard but seems like good quality to me. Cleanup was very good. The roof was completed on their second day of work, July 11, with a weekend of rain intervening. They also managed to do the entire garage roof (a separate building) the same day. The house roof is 17 squares, with the garage being another 7. Both are hip roof style. Cleanup was again quite good – I followed around for the final look and didn’t spot anything. However, the next day a closer look around found several strips of the cut asphalt shingles on top of a hedge and in a flower bed (well hidden, in all fairness), along with a few small pieces of cut aluminum which might pose a hazard for some of the younger children who routinely pass through my yard. Yesterday I found two aluminum nails which came to light only after a decent rainfall. Disappointingly, some cut shingles were also left in the gutters which is a much greater problem for an older person, meaning me, to resolve. Note that the noise of the rain on the aluminum roof is not much different from that of the asphalt shingles. Perhaps a slightly higher pitch, but the insulation in the attic and the fact that the old shingles were left on the roof under the aluminum perhaps helped to make it almost unnoticeable. Two days was quite a bit less than the estimated five for the installation. No complaints on this front. From signing the contract to completion was less than four weeks, which ranks as excellent service. Neighbours have been very complimentary about the appearance, with one opining that it’s the best-looking roof in the area. At the end of the day, my house and garage have great looking roofs which should add value when the house is sold (not anytime soon) and will not require replacement for the remainder of my ownership. Interlock personnel all performed admirably, and I am pleased with the final result.
Thank you. Stephen

We got exactly what we wanted, which was a sharp looking profile that would blend in with the architecture of the house
Our roof has been completed for about a month now and we’re starting to feel settled in our new house. We are very happy with the results and the process taken to get there. First of all, the crew was great. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these guys to anyone. They were really friendly and very hard working. The temperatures were in the low 30s for the entire week, but these guys were troopers and were very committed to the job. I was very impressed with their focus while enduring extreme heat, on a black roof with no escape from the sun. They did a great job and the work site was kept clean and tidy. Boxes and trash were removed daily and our home functioned as normal when work was completed for the day. Most importantly, we are very impressed with the roof itself. We got exactly what we wanted, which was a sharp looking profile that would blend in with the architecture of the house. We didn’t want something flashy that would be the focal point of our property; however, since we started the process of educating ourselves on roofs, we’ve come to better appreciate this feature of a home. The Interlock slate shingles we chose are quite subtle and look much like a traditional roof, but a closer inspection reveals a sleek and attractive finish with well-integrated flashing’s and vents. The ridge vents are essentially invisible. The biggest selling feature for us was the longevity of the roof. We hope this investment will truly mean that this is our “last roof”. So far, Interlock has delivered on all its promises and we are very pleased with the choice we made. Thanks to you and your colleagues for the work you have done. The roof is a great addition to our home and we’re looking forward to many years of living under it.

Decision in going with an aluminum roof
Loving the roof. Sorry, it had to take a lot of your emails, but I'm really happy it is done. John (never got his last name) from Cornwall was great and had a great crew with him. They did an amazing job and was a pleasure to see their work on my house. Thank Dave Brown for me too, both his visits were pleasant and fun. I learned a lot from him, and we had great conversations, and without him, I would not have gotten my roof done. And also a thank you to you too. That long first conversation I had with you at the home show went a long way in my decision in going with an aluminum roof and with your company. Thanks, and I hope I never have to think about my roof again.
Cheers, Rino Z.

It looks simply great
Hi Dave, Just a quick word to let you know the roof is completed. We could not see much when we got in at 2340 on Saturday, but we got a great look at it the next day. It looks simply great, and Sylvie is very happy with her choice of the pattern of the new shingles. I have some minor questions regarding the ice guards over the dining area. I will take a picture and send it to you so it will be easier to explain.

Top-notch
Hi Dave, I just wanted to pass along how happy Karen and I are with Nicolas and the crew regarding our roof installation. They should finish up tomorrow, and the roof looks great. The guys did a great job of installing it. They were here early every morning and worked a full day; they did a great job cleaning up at the end of each day. They are great at keeping me up to speed as to where they are and what they are doing. Top-notch, so please pass along some kudos to whoever is in charge of keeping these guys going. There are only 2 of them, but they are doing a great job, and they are both great guys!

St Georges Anglican Church
The contract between St. George’s Church and Interlock Industries (Ont.) Inc. for the restoration of the Church roof, including new vapour barrier, insulation, ventilation and slate-pattern aluminum shingles, is now complete, and I wanted to express to you our satisfaction with the entire project. Interlock finished the work ahead of schedule and under budget, which is much appreciated. The staff from Interlock, with whom we were associated, were very professional and competent. John Reeves, your sales representative who responded to our RFP, was well informed as to our requirements and provided us with a very comprehensive and competitive quotation. Your site representatives, Sheldon Maddox, Supervisor; Tony Lupton, Site Superintendent and Toma Gravelle, Lead Installer, were all very accommodating and proficient. They provided us with good advice and were very responsive to our various requests. Interlock is very fortunate to have a staff of their calibre. The materials that you used were of the highest quality. I recognize that the ventilated, insulated plywood used for the insulation of the roof and the slate-pattern aluminum shingles were the materials that were specified in the original quotation, and we are very satisfied with this material. However, what particularly impressed me was your voluntary use of the high-quality RoofTopGuard II vapour barrier that your staff felt would give us a better end product, given the site conditions. This material upgrade clearly demonstrated the concern that Interlock has for the quality of work they do, and your dedication is sincerely appreciated. I would not hesitate to recommend Interlock to any person or organization investigating the restoration of their roof with a high-quality product installed by professionals. Thank you!
Very truly, R.J. Henderson.

You only get what you pay for
Dear Barry, I take great pleasure in writing this letter to you and Interlock. For the last couple of years, I’ve been collecting and keeping all the brochures I would get in the mail about new roofing products. Last fall, when I cut the little ad out of the Renfrew paper, I did not know that it would lead to me having the most beautiful and outstanding roof in the neighbourhood. I had so many compliments. About it, even before it was finished. I’m sure we’ve all heard the expression, “you only get what you pay for” I’m a firm believer in this saying. My new Interlock Roofing is second to “none.” The colour of my roof is delicious, like a big chocolate fudge cake. The design and profile of these shingles give my roof a beautiful, sleek appearance. We like the fact that we never have to roof again since Jerry is retiring in a few years. Not only do we love our new roof, but we were also so pleased with the two young men you sent to do this project for us, John and Ryan. They handled themselves professionally; they took great pride in their work and graciously answered every question we asked them. They were very polite and always tapped on the door to use the washroom. They showed respect for Jerry and I, my home and my property. They cleaned up the yard every night before they went home. Jerry and I highly recommend these two young men to do roofing for anyone, anywhere. Last but not least, you promised our new roof in two to eight weeks. We got our new roof in two weeks. The service was great. Thank you so much for that. In closing, I honestly believe I made the right decision by purchasing this roofing system, “INTERLOCK.” On behalf of Jerry and myself, thank you so much for this beautiful roof. It’s the talk of White Lake Village.
Sincerely, Nancy V.

Thanks for giving us the best looking roof in the neighbourhood
To whom it may concern; In 2003 we had 25-year asphalt shingles installed on our roof. Recently we noted that our roofing shingles were beginning to curl and deteriorate on the corners and edges and presented an overall unpleasant sight from the curb. Although there was no leakage, we decided that at the rate of current deterioration, we might be lucky to get another 1-2 years before leaking occurred. The decision we faced was: Wait another year or so and replace the roof once it starts leaking and tolerate the increasingly unsightly view from the curb; Deal with the original installer (who is out of business) and use the manufacturer’s 50% asphalt shingle warranty, which just covers 50% of the cost of replacing the faulty shingles (not the whole roof) and which we are not even sure would cover the labour costs (which we doubt); or Swallow our losses and shop for a new, longer-lasting metal roof. After a few weeks of researching, we chose Interlock Industries because they were not only a 100% Canadian company but also because they manufactured and installed their own roofing systems. Also, we noted that they had been in business for over 25 years and had every appearance of remaining in business for some time into the future. Long enough, we felt, to cover their 50-year lifetime roofing warranty. Would it cost more than a new asphalt shingle roof? Absolutely, but in our opinion, the increased cost seemed to more than offset the obvious benefits and life expectancy of an aluminum metal roof. Therefore, over the period of 08 to 14 September 2014, we had the Interlock aluminum roof installed on our home. The installation took a little longer than anticipated due to the weather, over which, of course, the workers had absolutely no control. We watched the installation closely and were very impressed, not only with the care that was taken by the installers but also with the way they constantly kept us informed as to what they were doing. Needless to say the installers were polite and very professional and when they departed, they made sure that our lawn and flower beds were cleaned up and looked the same as before work had commenced. As for the finished product – in our opinion our roof is the best looking roof in our neighbourhood. We did not write this note immediately after the installation was completed but waited to find out how the roof would fare under different weather conditions. There were a few items which were pointed out to us while we were doing our research. We had heard that a metal roof would add considerably more weight to the roof, that there was increased noise when it rained, that the metal made the temperature inside the house rise a few degrees over the normal and, finally, that the colours and textures of metal roofs were very limited. We can now discount all of these allegations. We did not notice any more noise from rain than when we had asphalt shingles, nor did we notice any change in the house's interior temperature. As for the increased weight and selection of colours and textures, we found that the choices were just as numerous as for asphalt shingles and, of course, the weight on the roof was increased, but because the metal is aluminum, the additional weight would be less than the worst winter snowfall and, therefore, insignificant since snow should no longer collect on the roof but slide off the metal surface. One of the final aspects we found with the installation of the Interlock aluminum roof was that it was installed over the existing asphalt shingles, which made the installation more environmentally friendly by reducing the amount of waste being trucked to a landfill. The way the roof was installed was by covering the existing shingles with a waterproof membrane and then nailing the Interlock aluminum roof over the existing shingles, which might also explain why there was no noticeable increases in rain noise nor inside temperatures. Are we pleased with our new Interlock aluminum roof? Barry Brinson promised us a roof that would be to our complete satisfaction – and he delivered in spades. Thanks for giving us the best-looking roof in the neighbourhood.
Sincerely, Robert & Andrée F.

The roof looks beautiful
I would like to thank you for the excellent customer service and installation that you provided to us. Barry Brinson spent several hours explaining how your product works, how it would be installed and how your company would support any problems if/when it happens for the next 50 years. We had specific requests, water/ice shield, snow/ice guards, photos and the installation of 2 skylights. Also, before the work began, we asked that the old shingles be removed. Barry was more than willing to fit that into the project. Our home is not a simple roof… the incline is extremely steep, and there are a couple of round roof areas (sorry, I do not know the correct words here), five existing skylights to outfit as well the installation of 2 additional skylights. When you factor in the distance to our home (travel time), the type of roof we have and the weather (we are right on the Ottawa River)…. it poses a significant challenge. The installers were very accommodating and friendly. They explained what they were doing step by step and took pictures of everything. They replaced all the damaged parts of the roof and cleaned up their work environment daily. Unfortunately, the only thing that caused the work to take five weeks was the amount of bad weather we had. In the end, the roof looks beautiful, and we have received many compliments from our neighbours and townspeople. Barry has even mentioned that he might have a sale due to the work done on our home. Thank you very much for a great job.

Best value available
We looked at different alternatives to re-roof our house, and we chose the Interlock roofing system because it represented the best value available. Barry Brinson answered all our questions when we met him on the Saturday afternoon of a long weekend. Shortly after the materials were delivered, John Caverley arrived with his crew and promptly proceeded to install the roof. He and his crew were thoroughly professional, and their use of safety equipment was reassuring. The team was well-integrated; they showed that they knew what they were doing, and all proceeded without a hitch. They worked tirelessly and were done in one day. When they left, there were no nails, scrap or cigarette butts behind, only a brand-new roof that was the envy of the neighbourhood. After a few weeks, we can say that the roof is quiet, even with heavy rain, and the upstairs rooms are cooler on a hot day than was the case in the past. We would not hesitate to recommend an Interlock roof for its value and looks. Barry and John went out of their way to make it all happen to our complete satisfaction.
Sincerely, Nina and Régent G.
