To Whom It May Concern:

We wanted a new roof put on our home before the winter season really sets in. We did a lot of research and it took time but wanted a good roof that would last a long time on our home. We saw an advertisement for Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems and gave them a call.

After contacting a very professional representative on the phone from Interlock Roofing and explained our roofing wants they sent out their sales representatives to our home. We were very impressed with the sales staff and they explained to us their roofing product in detail and their Lifetime Limited <a class="wpil_keyword_link" title="Warranty" href="” data-wpil-keyword-link=”linked”>Warranty, and that was impressive. Along with an up to date computer tablet showing a video of their company and their roofing products.

They would put a lifetime roof on even in the winter conditions and to which they did. The roofing installers were very professional and well trained for their product installation and they had our roof on in one day. WOW! That was very impressive too and the roof looks fantastic and the installer crew did a great clean-up before they left.

The telephone communication with us also was very informative when the material was to be delivered and when the job was to be started and completed. Also, Interlock Roofing called back to us after the job was completed and asked how we like our new roof. We answered back a beautiful roof.

We would recommend Interlock Lifetime Roofing System to anyone in our neighbourhood that is looking for a new roof. Also, we have had many, people walking and driving by our home this winter looking and admiring our new roof.

Interlock Roofing System you met our roofing needs and our roof looks beautiful and it’s a good investment for our home. Thank you from us both to all of your professional associates and a great job well done.

Top 10 Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Edmonton

Homeowners researching metal roofing in Edmonton often have several important questions before replacing their roof. Many people want to understand how metal roofing compares to traditional materials like asphalt shingles in terms of lifespan, durability, cost, and long-term value. Roofing decisions can also be influenced by local weather conditions. Homes in Edmonton may experience environmental factors such as rain, wind, snow, heat, fire, or seasonal storms that can impact roof performance over time. The following frequently asked questions help explain what homeowners should know when evaluating metal roofing and why many people choose durable roofing systems designed for long-term protection.

Metal roofing in Edmonton commonly lasts 40–70+ years, while asphalt shingle roofs typically have shorter lifespans (often 15–30 years). Edmonton’s continental climate brings long, cold winters with significant snowfall and a fairly dry overall precipitation pattern, which increases snow-load and freeze–thaw stresses on roofs. Repeated freeze–thaw cycles and occasional hail or high winds can accelerate wear on less durable materials, so homeowners choose metal for its resistance to snow loads, ice damming and impact damage. Metal’s low maintenance, longevity and better performance under Edmonton’s freeze–thaw and snow conditions explain its popularity. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use heavy‑gauge aluminium and come with a lifetime limited 50‑year transferable warranty designed for long‑term protection.
Metal roofs typically cost more upfront than asphalt shingles, but final price in Edmonton depends on roof size, slope, complexity, tear‑off, flashing, skylights and labour. Local construction factors — like required snow‑load design and extra ice‑dam/flashings because Edmonton averages about 125 cm of snow annually — can raise material and labour needs. Freeze–thaw cycles and long, cold winters also stress seals and fasteners, influencing workmanship and warranty choices. Many homeowners compare options by lifetime value (longer warranties, lower maintenance and fewer replacements) rather than initial price; durable metal systems often reduce future repair and replacement costs. Interlock Metal Roofing positions itself on long‑term ownership value and durability rather than as the low‑cost roofing option.
Short answer: In Edmonton, metal roofing is often worth the higher upfront cost for homeowners who prioritise durability and long‑term protection, though asphalt shingles remain a lower‑cost option for tighter budgets. Lifespan: metal 40–70 years vs asphalt shingles 15–25 years. Maintenance: metal needs less routine care; shingles need more frequent inspections, patching and eventual replacement. Durability: metal sheds heavy snow better and tolerates repeated freeze–thaw cycles that accelerate shingle wear. Long‑term value: higher initial cost for metal but lower lifetime expenses and fewer roof replacements. Edmonton’s cold, snowy winters with frequent freeze–thaw swings increase risk of ice dams and shingle degradation, making snow‑shedding, low‑maintenance roofs attractive to many local homeowners. Interlock Metal Roofing appeals because interlocking panels and concealed fasteners offer lasting weather protection plus architectural curb appeal for those seeking long‑term performance.
This is a common myth: metal roofs aren’t inherently loud in rain in Edmonton, AB. Modern residential metal roofs installed over solid decking and fastening systems do not sound like old barn roofs. Sound during rain depends on insulation, attic space, underlayment and overall roof assembly, as well as installation quality and fastening detail. Poorly installed panels or gaps can increase noise, while proper underlayment, insulation and a ventilated attic greatly reduce sound transmission. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are installed as complete roofing systems designed for residential homes and include components that help control noise. Properly installed residential metal roofs are typically similar in sound to other roofing materials.
Yes — metal roofing can be energy efficient in Edmonton. Metal roofs often have reflective coatings and lighter colours that reflect sunlight, reducing summer heat gain. Overall performance depends on the whole roof assembly: underlayment, insulation levels and attic ventilation control heat transfer and prevent winter heat loss. Edmonton’s climate — cold, sunny winters and warm summers — means potential benefits vary by design: reflective finishes help cooling, while proper insulation and ventilation are essential for winter performance. Homeowners replace roofs considering energy efficiency to lower utility bills, improve comfort, reduce environmental impact and boost resale value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are designed to work with roof assemblies to support long-term home performance.
Edmonton roofs face heavy snow, freeze–thaw cycles, strong winds and periodic severe hail and storms that can crack shingles, dent materials and drive moisture under edges. Metal roofing can perform very well: standing‑seam panels shed snow and ice, continuous panels reduce leak points, and thicker gauges or coated metals resist dents from hail. Actual performance depends on roofing system design (profile, gauge, underlayment and attachments), installation quality (flashing, fastening, sealing) and material durability (steel/aluminium grade and coating). Homeowners prioritise weather resilience to protect structure, lower repair and insurance risk, and extend service life. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered for durability, hail protection and wind resistance—request specific wind and hail ratings, gauge and warranty to ensure suitability for Edmonton’s climate.
Metal roofing performance depends on the type of metal used; steel, zinc, copper and aluminium offer different corrosion profiles. Some materials—such as aluminium and zinc—are naturally more resistant to corrosion, while untreated steels will rust faster without protective coatings. Aluminium performs particularly well in wet or coastal environments because it forms a stable oxide layer that resists corrosion. Homeowners should consider corrosion resistance to ensure long-term durability, reduce maintenance and avoid premature failure that can lead to leaks and higher replacement costs, especially in Edmonton, AB’s seasonal conditions. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use aluminium construction for strong corrosion resistance and are further protected by the Alunar Coating System for extra protection.
Metal roofing is generally considered a low-maintenance, durable option for Edmonton’s climate. However, no roof is completely maintenance-free. Homeowners should inspect their metal roof periodically—after severe weather and seasonally—to spot loose fasteners, damaged panels, deteriorated sealant, or corrosion. Check for accumulated debris on the roof and in gutters, ensure flashing around valleys and chimneys is intact, and inspect penetrations such as vents, skylights and pipe collars for proper seals. Promptly remove branches, leaves and ice dams to prevent water backup and abrasion. Heavy wind, hail, freeze–thaw cycles and spring/summer debris can affect performance. With routine visual checks and minor upkeep, a metal roof will deliver long service with minimal labour and expense.
Metal roofing can increase a home’s value in Edmonton, AB. Buyers often prioritise durable, low‑maintenance roofs that reduce future repair costs, and premium materials improve curb appeal—important in resale. A long lifespan and strong warranty also boost buyer confidence and can justify a higher asking price. However, architectural style and neighbourhood context matter: a material that suits surrounding homes and the home’s design will sell better than one that looks out of place. Interlock Metal Roofing systems offer multiple architectural profiles—slate, cedar shingle, Mediterranean tile, shake and standing seam—available in heavy‑gauge aluminium and solid copper, so you can choose a look that matches local character while delivering lasting performance. This can translate into stronger offers and faster sales in Edmonton’s market.
Edmonton’s cold, snowy winters with significant snow loads and frequent freeze–thaw cycles can affect roof performance and mounting longevity. Yes — Interlock Metal Roofing Systems are compatible with solar panels when custom solar brackets are installed by Interlock Metal Roofing (Alberta) Ltd. Because panels add weight and attachment points, roof lifespan matters: longer‑lasting materials reduce the chance you’ll need roof replacement under panels. If you’re comparing roofs in Edmonton, favour durable, low‑maintenance systems and plan for future solar when replacing your roof. Interlock systems are solar‑compatible and designed to support approved solar mounting solutions.
