Aluminum Cedar-Shake Roof with Solar Tubes Review — Lincoln City OR (2021)

Lincoln City, OR

TL;DR: Lincoln City Review Summary

Roof installation in Lincoln City: scheduling was a real bear, with the project delayed and taking nine months from deposit to installation. Installers were top-notch—quick, clean, polite, and responsive—and the homeowner loves the charcoal‑gray metal “cedar shake” roof and two solar tubes; neighbors rave about the look, and the reviewer would definitely recommend them but advises patience with scheduling.
Chad O.

Scheduling the installation was a real bear; it kept getting delayed. Ultimately, it took 9 months from when we put our deposit down to when the roof was installed. That said, the installers were top-notch. They were quick, clean, polite, and answered all our questions. We absolutely love the roof and the two solar tubes they installed. Our neighbors all rave about how nice the house looks. They can’t believe it is a metal roof. (We had the metal “cedar shake” style installed in charcoal gray.) I would definitely recommend them, but be patient with scheduling.PositiveQuality, ProfessionalismServicesAttic venting repairs, Roof installation, Skylight installation

Top 10 Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lincoln City

Homeowners researching metal roofing in Lincoln City often have several important questions before replacing their roof. Many people want to understand how metal roofing compares to traditional materials like asphalt shingles in terms of lifespan, durability, cost, and long-term value. Roofing decisions can also be influenced by local weather conditions. Homes in Lincoln City may experience environmental factors such as rain, wind, snow, heat, fire, or seasonal storms that can impact roof performance over time. The following frequently asked questions help explain what homeowners should know when evaluating metal roofing and why many people choose durable roofing systems designed for long-term protection.

Metal roofing in Lincoln City commonly lasts at least 50–75+ years, while asphalt shingles usually last much less (often 15–30 years depending on quality). Local conditions—heavy maritime rainfall and persistent coastal moisture plus frequent windy storms—drive that difference. Lincoln City averages roughly 76 inches of precipitation annually and has notable onshore winds, so continuous wetting, salt spray and gusty uplift are the main stressors for roofs. Metal panels resist rot, moss and wind damage better than asphalt and require less maintenance, which is why many local homeowners pick durable metal systems despite higher upfront cost. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use heavy-gauge aluminum and carry a lifetime limited 50-year transferable warranty designed for long-term protection in coastal, rainy environments.
Metal roofs in Lincoln City, OR typically cost more upfront than asphalt shingles. Total cost varies by roof size, slope, complexity (multiple planes, hips and valleys), tear‑off and disposal, flashing and underlayment upgrades, skylights or chimneys, and local labor and permit fees. Coastal factors such as site access, wind and salt‑air exposure, and contractor availability can raise prices locally. Many homeowners compare roofing options by lifetime value rather than initial price: durable metal systems offer longer service life, lower routine maintenance, and better resistance to weather, which can reduce future repair and replacement expenses. When comparing bids, review warranties, expected lifespan, and potential energy or insurance savings. Interlock Metal Roofing emphasizes long‑term ownership value and durable systems designed to lower lifetime cost, not competing as the lowest‑cost roofing option.
Short answer: for many Lincoln City homeowners who prioritize durability and long-term protection, metal roofing is worth the extra upfront cost—but not always the right choice for every budget or aesthetic. Lincoln City sees heavy coastal rainfall (≈76 in./yr), high humidity and salt‑laden air, plus periodic strong coastal winds—conditions that speed shingle wear and promote moss/algae growth. Lifespan: metal 40–70+ years vs asphalt 15–30 years. Maintenance: metal needs occasional seal/fastener checks; asphalt needs more frequent repairs, moss removal, and replacement. Durability: metal resists wind, rot, and moss better in coastal, wet climates; asphalt is more vulnerable to moisture, UV and wind uplift. Long‑term value: higher initial cost for metal often pays off via longer life, lower replacement frequency, and higher resale value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems appeal in Lincoln City by combining superior performance against coastal moisture and winds with lasting curb appeal for homeowners seeking long‑term protection.
It’s a common myth that metal roofs are noisy in rain in Lincoln City, OR. Modern residential metal roofs installed over solid decking don’t echo like old barn roofs. Sound depends on the roof assembly—insulation, attic space, underlayment and sheathing all dampen rain noise. Quality installation and secure fastening reduce vibration and prevent flapping. When designed and installed as a complete system, metal roofing typically sounds similar to asphalt or tile roofs under rainfall. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are installed as complete residential roofing systems, combining decking, underlayments and profiles engineered to control noise and weather performance. In Lincoln City’s coastal climate, proper ventilation and insulation are especially beneficial.
In Lincoln City, OR, metal roofing can be energy efficient because its reflective surface reduces solar heat gain and can lower cooling demand. Energy performance also depends on roof assembly—underlayment, insulation level—and attic ventilation, which together control heat flow and moisture. Roof color, finish, and reflective coatings influence how much sunlight is reflected versus absorbed. Lincoln City’s coastal climate means solar reflection may give modest cooling savings, while improved insulation, ventilation, and tight installation provide greater year‑round comfort and lower heating costs in cool, damp months. Homeowners researching roof replacement often prioritize energy efficiency to reduce utility bills, improve indoor comfort, lengthen HVAC and roof life, and reduce environmental impact, which also helps resale appeal. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are designed to support long-term home performance.
Lincoln City on the Oregon coast experiences heavy rain, strong winter storms, coastal wind events and occasional hail. Local hazard guidance also highlights wind-driven storm impacts, flooding and bluff/beach erosion during winter storms. Properly designed and installed metal roofing sheds rain and snow, resists rot and fire, and—when using interlocking profiles and secure fastenings—can meet high wind ratings. Hail resistance varies by profile, thickness and coatings; heavier gauges and impact-rated finishes reduce denting and leaks. Overall performance depends on system design, installation quality and material durability. In Lincoln City, frequent coastal storms make proper flashing, sealed seams and good drainage critical to avoid water intrusion. Choose impact-rated panels, corrosion-resistant coatings and verified wind-load ratings for best results. Homeowners weigh weather resilience for lower maintenance, longer life, safety and insurance considerations. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered for durability, hail protection and wind resistance.
Corrosion and rust resistance in metal roofing in Lincoln City, OR: Metal roofing performance depends on the metal selected—steel, zinc, copper and aluminum each behave differently. Some materials (e.g., stainless steel, aluminum, properly coated steels) resist corrosion better than untreated steel. Aluminum performs especially well in wet, salty coastal environments because it naturally forms a protective oxide layer and won’t rust. Homeowners should prioritize corrosion resistance to extend roof lifespan, reduce maintenance and repair costs, prevent leaks and protect home value in Lincoln City’s coastal climate. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use aluminum construction engineered for strong corrosion resistance and are further protected by the proprietary Alunar Coating System for extra durability and weather protection.
Metal roofing is generally a low‑maintenance choice for Lincoln City, Oregon, thanks to durability and resistance to rot and insect damage. That said, no roof is completely maintenance‑free. Homeowners should inspect their metal roof periodically—after storms and seasonally—for loose fasteners, damaged panels, worn sealant, and compromised flashing. Clear coastal and fall debris from panels and valleys, keep gutters free of leaves and sand, and check penetrations (vents, chimneys, skylights) for secure seals. Heavy wind, salt spray, fallen branches, or winter storms can cause localized damage or accelerate wear. With routine inspections and prompt attention to problems, metal roofs provide long service life and lower ongoing upkeep compared with many other roofing materials.
In Lincoln City, OR, metal roofing can increase a home’s resale value. Buyers often prioritize durable, low‑maintenance roofs because they reduce future repair costs and offer peace of mind. Premium materials also enhance curb appeal, which can attract more interest at listing time. A metal roof’s long lifespan further boosts buyer confidence, as it signals fewer near‑term replacements. Keep in mind neighborhood architectural style matters—buyers in historic or coastal districts may prefer profiles that match local character. Interlock Metal Roofing systems offer multiple architectural profiles—slate, cedar shingle, Mediterranean tile, shake, and standing seam—available in heavy-gauge aluminum and solid copper, so you can choose a durable, attractive option that complements Lincoln City’s streetscapes.
Yes—Interlock Metal Roofing Systems are compatible with solar installations when fitted with custom solar brackets installed by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. In Lincoln City’s high‑rain, coastal environment—with over 70 inches of annual precipitation—plus persistent coastal humidity and moss pressure, choose corrosion‑resistant, long‑life roofing before mounting panels. Because Lincoln City also sees windy, salt‑laden air, secure, corrosion‑resistant mounts are essential. Roof lifespan matters because panels add weight and are costly to remove; plan solar when re‑roofing and prefer durable materials. Interlock systems are designed to support solar mounting solutions and are often preferred for long‑lasting installations in wet, windy coastal climates.

I’ve had my interlock roof for 14 yrs and have had no issues with it until this last winter. We had heavier than normal snow and a lot of freeze thaw conditions. Several of the snow deflectors were pushed forward and lifted some of the roof. I emailed Dave and Tyler and repairs were made quickly . You can’t tell there was any concerns at all.

Metal Shingle Roof Review in Sudbury, ON (Interlock - Installed 2017)

Review: April 25, 2026

Completion: June 7, 2018

We had our roof replaced in 2017 with an aluminum roof by Interlock Metal Roofing. We live on the lake, and prior to the replacement, we were spending thousands of dollars every year because shingles would fly off in the wind.

We haven’t had any issues in the past 7 years. Our experience with Interlock Metal Roofing was excellent — they were very professional and did a beautiful job, even though our roof is quite high and challenging.

Our roof still looks beautiful, and we haven’t had to worry about it at all in the past 9 years.

I love my Interlock roof! No more climbing up to clean it, and no more gritty debris falling into my garden after a few years. It looks fantastic and performs exactly as it should.

The installers were excellent—knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and personable. Ivan is a gem! He handled a small flashing addition efficiently and cleaned the entire roof with a blower in no time.

After almost ten years, it’s still the only roof I would choose.

Interlock Metal Roof Review - Ramara, ON (Installed 2019)

Completion: April 23, 2026

We are so happy with our interlock roof from Bruce. We had shopped around because we live on the lake with strong winds and we wanted a quality, long lasting product. Our roof has never changed colour and looks just as good now as the day it was installed. We also love the lifetime transferable warranty. We also love that it is made in Canada so there are no tariffs. Bruce was our sales person. He came right away, explained everything to us. We made the right decision not choosing shingles because of the environment and quality of the product. This was an affordable investment that was worth it. The crew was professional in every aspect. If I move, I will definitely be contacting Bruce again for another interlock roof.

Portland, OR Metal Shingles Review — Safety Anchors Installed 2019

Review: April 20, 2026

Completion: June 20, 2019

We’ve had our roof for about 7 years and have been very pleased with it. Recently, I scheduled gutter cleaning which was complicated by a run of wet weather which makes the roof very slippery. The gutter contractor asked if we had ever considered installing safety anchors. I didn’t know there was such a thing. I called Interlock and Ivan came by to take a look. He quickly determined appropriate locations for the anchors that the gutter cleaners could clip their safety harnesses to and showed me an example of the anchor itself. He also offered to paint them black to make them more inconspicuous on our dark roof. He returned about a week later for the install and afterwards showed us pictures of the anchors from the roof and pointed them out from the ground. Overall very professional, prompt, excellent service.

Interlock Metal Shingle Roof Review in Bay View, WI (Installed 2009)

Review: April 16, 2026

Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Interlock Metal Roofing Review in Saint Paul, AB — 50-Year Warranty (Installed 2025)

Review: April 15, 2026

Completion: August 31, 2025

We recently installed a new Interlock Roofing System, and we couldn’t be happier with the decision. Knowing it’s backed by a limited lifetime, non-prorated, fully transferable 50-year warranty gives us real peace of mind—it truly feels like a smart long-term investment. Mr. Yorman and his crew were outstanding from start to finish. Their commitment to customer service is second to none. They showed up exactly when they said they would and worked diligently until the job was completed. The finished product looks fantastic, and the cleanup was so thorough that our property actually looked better than before they arrived. A special mention to Tyler, who did an excellent job walking us through the benefits and helping us feel confident in choosing this system. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended!

I recently had my 25 year old asphalt roof replaced with an Interlock Metal roof. I'm so very happy with my decision. In fact, best decision ever to have Interlock Industries install. The metal roof is manufactured in Delta, BC and they have their own installers. It's not panels! It looks very much like a cedar roof! Colour is awesome as well! My home is located in Victoria on Vancouver Island and looks great with my new roof! Interlock is a very professional business from contract signing to installation. Amazing crew that gets the job done in a timely manner. My roof looks fabulous. It's a work of art!!

Aurora, ON Metal Roofing Review — Interlock Installation (2016)

Review: April 13, 2026

Completion: May 3, 2016

We moved into our new house in 1984. Our new house came with new 25 year shingles. In 2004, 20 years later we noticed that our roof shingles needed to be redone. Now, back in 1984 they used asbestos in the roof shingles and although at the time they said they were 25 year shingles, we were still happy to get 20 years out of them. So, in 2004 we got a quote and had the roof re-shingled. We paid extra for the 25 year shingles as we had such a good result with the original shingles. In 2016 (i.e. 12 years later) my neighbour told us that our shingles on the south side of the house were cracked with rolled up edges and needed to be replaced. (We can't see the south roof of our house unless we are visiting the neighbours.) The shingles on the north side were still ok, but since you can't really shingle half a roof we knew that we had to have the whole roof done...after just 12 years. We were a little upset about this and decided to go to the National Home Show in Toronto to look at alternatives. We met Tom Watson at the Interlock Metal Roofing booth and he took a lot of time and explained the complete roofing system to us. We liked what we saw and what was explained to us and we arranged to have a home visit from Interlock and to give us a quote. The metal roof was certainly a lot more expensive than a regular asphalt shingle roof, but we decided to get the metal roof anyways because we did not want the hassle of having to re-shingle every 10 or 11 years...and there are also some other unforeseen benefits detailed below that we did not know about at the time. The metal roof comes with a Lifetime Limited Warranty, 50 year transferable, not prorated so even though more expensive it adds value to lyour home because if in the future you are looking to sell, the buyer knows he won't have any roof problems for the 50 year life of the roof. Your roof becomes an asset instead of a liability. The installation happened over 4-5 days. I paid a lot of attention to what they were doing and how they were doing it. The roof vents were removed. These are the same roof vents that raccoons like to rip off for access to your attic, so that potential problem went away. A ridge vent (google it) was installed on the top of the roof and it is low profile and fits in so you would not know that it is there. Raccoons have been known to chew a hole in asphalt shingles and roofing plywood to get into your attic. With a metal roof, it isn't happening. That mode of access is eliminated. Now, with our previous asphalt shingles we had constant problems with raccoons pooping on our roof (sound familiar?) and for some reason, at least for the last 10 years that we have had the metal roof, that has not happened. I don't know why, but I can speculate that the raccoons find the metal roof very slippery and they are not comfortable being up there and doing their business while trying not to slide off the roof. Also, in the past we have had squirrels occasionally make their way through, under, beside our asphalt shingles and get into our attic. That will never happen with a metal roof because the whole roof is sealed and northing is getting that way. If you are concerned about high winds ripping off your shingles you don't have to worry with a metal roof. Each and every metal shingle is fastened to the roof with aluminum screws (note the metal roof shingles are painted and baked to a tough finish) and they are interlocked with each other, so you may lose your entire roof in a hurricane, but the metal shingles will still be attached to it. We moved into our new house in 1984. After about 2 years of sweating through humid summers, we installed an A/C system. Our new A/C system worked ok in that it removed the humidity and cooled the house, but with the high 37 deg C temperatures it was struggling. The A/C would run continuously and never stopped on those hot days, but once the metal roof was installed it cycled on and off as designed. We highly recommend Interlock Metal Roofing.

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!
