Interlock Metal Shingle Roof Review in Bay View, WI (Installed 2009)

Bay View, WI

TL;DR: Bay View Review Summary

Roofing installation in Bay View, Wisconsin: Interlock Metal Roofing installed a Red slate roof on the house 17 years ago and re-roofed the garage with the same slate five years ago. The homeowner reports they switched from an asphalt roof that lasted only 12 years and curled and cracked; since the Interlock Metal Roofing installations the roofs still look beautiful, required no maintenance, crews replaced rotted boards as needed and installed affordable gutters, and the homeowner is extremely happy and believes the metal roofs are worth the cost and will last a lifetime.

The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named “Tim’ but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously – priced “special” gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Top 10 Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Bay View

Homeowners researching metal roofing in Bay View often have several important questions before replacing their roof. Many people want to understand how metal roofing compares to traditional materials like asphalt shingles in terms of lifespan, durability, cost, and long-term value. Roofing decisions can also be influenced by local weather conditions. Homes in Bay View may experience environmental factors such as rain, wind, snow, heat, fire, or seasonal storms that can impact roof performance over time. The following frequently asked questions help explain what homeowners should know when evaluating metal roofing and why many people choose durable roofing systems designed for long-term protection.

Metal roofs in Bay View (Milwaukee) commonly last 50–75+ years, while asphalt shingles typically last much less (often 15–30 years depending on quality). Bay View’s humid continental climate brings cold, snowy winters, regular freeze–thaw cycles and seasonal snow loads that stress roof assemblies, and near‑Lake Michigan moisture can increase corrosion risk and roof-edge ice formation if details aren’t correct. Summers bring sun, occasional heat, storms and periodic hail/wind events that can shorten asphalt performance but have less effect on properly installed metal panels. Because of heavy snow, freeze–thaw cycles and lake‑moisture exposure, homeowners in Bay View often choose durable metal systems for longevity, lower maintenance, and better resistance to wind, hail and ice dams. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use heavy‑gauge aluminum and carry a lifetime limited 50‑year transferable warranty designed for long‑term protection.
Metal roofs in Bay View generally cost more upfront than asphalt shingles, but final price varies widely and is driven by roof size, slope, complexity, tear-off, flashing, skylights, and local labor rates. Bay View’s Lake Michigan setting brings humid-continental weather and lake-influenced moisture and winds that can accelerate wear and ice-dam risk—factors contractors price into materials and installation choices.Heavy winter snow is also a local concern (Milwaukee averages about 48.7 inches annually), so snow loads and freeze–thaw cycles make durable, well-sealed installations more valuable over time. Many homeowners compare options on lifetime value—metal’s higher upfront cost can mean fewer repairs and longer service life. Interlock Metal Roofing emphasizes long-term ownership value rather than competing as a low-cost option.
In Bay View, metal roofing is often worth the higher upfront cost for homeowners who prioritize durability and long-term protection. Winters are cold, snowy and subject to freeze–thaw cycles and lake‑effect moisture from Lake Michigan, so roofs face heavy snow loads, ice dams and seasonal expansion/contraction that stress materials. Lifespan: Metal roofing lasts over 50 years; quality asphalt shingles commonly last 20–30 years. Maintenance: metal needs less routine upkeep and resists rot, moss and ice-dam damage better; shingles require more inspections, occasional shingle replacement and attic/vent fixes. Durability: metal resists wind, hail and freeze–thaw fatigue better than asphalt. Long-term value: higher initial cost for metal often pays off via avoided replacements and insurance discounts, but asphalt is cheaper short-term. Homeowners in Bay View who want long-term protection and curb appeal often choose metal. Interlock Metal Roofing appeals because its interlocking panels deliver weather-tight performance, low maintenance and a clean architectural look that suits local conditions.
Q: Are metal roofs noisy in Bay View, WI? A: That’s a common myth. Modern residential metal roofs installed over solid decking do not sound like barn roofs—when paired with normal underlayment, attic space and insulation they produce rain noise similar to asphalt or tile. Sound depends on insulation, attic volume and the full roof assembly, and poor installation (exposed battens or loose fasteners) can increase noise. In Bay View, lake‑effect snow and coastal moisture from Lake Michigan, plus freeze–thaw cycles, influence insulation and underlayment choices that also reduce rain noise for properly built systems. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are installed as complete residential roofing systems designed for homes.
Yes—metal roofing can be energy efficient in Bay View. Metal reflects sunlight, lowering summer heat gain, and when paired with a properly designed roof assembly, adequate insulation, and good ventilation it reduces both cooling and heating demand. Bay View’s lake‑influenced humid continental climate brings cold, snowy winters and seasonal lake moisture that affect roof performance and heat loss. Significant snow and freeze–thaw cycles make durable, well‑insulated roofs especially important for year‑round efficiency and moisture control. Homeowners weigh energy efficiency to cut utility costs, improve comfort, and protect long‑term value when replacing roofs. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered to support long‑term home performance when installed with the right insulation and ventilation.
In Bay View, proximity to Lake Michigan brings lake‑effect snow, frequent winter freeze–thaw cycles that promote ice dams, and occasional severe summer storms with hail and damaging gusts. Metal roofing can perform very well in wind, hail and heavy weather if the system is engineered for local loads, the installer follows wind‑uplift and attachment best practices, and the metal alloy, thickness and finish resist impact and corrosion. Properly interlocked panels shed snow and limit water intrusion during melt‑freeze cycles; heavy‑gauge panels or hail‑rated coatings reduce denting. Homeowners compare weather resilience (snow shedding, ice‑dam control, wind uplift, hail resistance), longevity and cost when choosing materials. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered for durability, hail protection, and wind resistance, but real performance still depends on system design and installation quality.
FAQ — Corrosion and rust resistance of metal roofing in Bay View, WI: Bay View experiences substantial winter snow and freeze–thaw cycling (Milwaukee averages ~48.7 in. annual snowfall) and localized Lake Michigan moisture—both raise corrosion risk for some metals. Metal roofing performance depends on the metal: steel, zinc, copper and aluminum behave differently; some are far more corrosion‑resistant. Aluminum performs particularly well in wet, humid or lakeshore settings because it forms a protective oxide and won’t rust like steel. Homeowners should weigh corrosion resistance to maximize lifespan, lower maintenance and avoid fastener or edge failures in freeze–thaw and moist conditions. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use aluminum construction engineered for strong corrosion resistance and are protected further by the Alunar Coating System for extra protection.
Metal roofing is a durable, low‑maintenance choice for Bay View homeowners. Milwaukee averages about 48.7 inches of snow annually. Lake Michigan‑driven lake‑effect snow and frequent freeze‑thaw cycles increase snow load, ice‑dam and moisture exposure risks for any roof. Metal roofs resist rot and UV better than many materials and shed snow well, but no roof is maintenance‑free. Inspect spring and fall and after heavy snow or wind events; check for debris, clear gutters, and examine flashing and penetrations. Also check coatings, fasteners and sealants for corrosion or looseness—lake moisture and freeze‑thaw cycling can stress connections. Prompt removal of branches and repair of loose fasteners preserves performance and warranty.
Yes—metal roofing can increase home value in Bay View when compared with other materials. Buyers here prize durable, low‑maintenance roofs that stand up to Milwaukee’s significant annual snowfall (about 48.7 in) and freeze–thaw cycles driven by the humid continental climate and Lake Michigan influence. Because buyers value durability, premium materials boost curb appeal and long lifespans (often 40–70+ years) improve buyer confidence by lowering perceived maintenance and replacement risk. Architectural style matters in neighborhoods, so select a profile that fits local character. Interlock Metal Roofing systems offer slate, cedar‑shingle, Mediterranean tile, shake, and standing‑seam profiles in heavy‑gauge aluminum and solid copper, combining high‑end aesthetics with resilience that can help command a higher resale price.
Yes—Interlock Metal Roofing Systems can accommodate solar in Bay View. Interlock systems are solar compatible and designed to support solar mounting solutions, with custom solar brackets installed by Interlock Metal Roofing – Midwest. Bay View’s proximity to Lake Michigan brings lake‑effect snow, significant snow loads, and frequent freeze–thaw cycles plus coastal moisture that influence roofing performance and mounting details. Prioritize roof lifespan when adding PV: long‑lasting materials (like Interlock metal) reduce the chance of removing panels for a roof replacement. If you plan solar in the future, choose a durable roof now, confirm load and wind ratings, and use manufacturer‑approved brackets to protect warranties and watertightness.

Interlock Metal Roofing Review in Saint Paul, AB — 50-Year Warranty (Installed 2025)

April 14, 2026

We recently installed a new Interlock Roofing System, and we couldn’t be happier with the decision. Knowing it’s backed by a limited lifetime, non-prorated, fully transferable 50-year warranty gives us real peace of mind—it truly feels like a smart long-term investment. Mr. Yorman and his crew were outstanding from start to finish. Their commitment to customer service is second to none. They showed up exactly when they said they would and worked diligently until the job was completed. The finished product looks fantastic, and the cleanup was so thorough that our property actually looked better than before they arrived. A special mention to Tyler, who did an excellent job walking us through the benefits and helping us feel confident in choosing this system. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended!

Interlock Metal Shingle Roof & Snow Guards Review — Owen Sound, ON (Installed 2017)

April 13, 2026

We installed an Interlock roof in 2017. The roof is still like new. Due to an insulation issue and snow depth of over 4 feet, we had an ice build up problem. Ken, Greg and Cheri provided consultation and prompt service in addressing the addition of snow guards. Their knowledgable and friendly service was greatly appreciated. We highly recommend both the product and the team.

Interlock Metal Roof Review - Burnaby, BC Metal Roofing (Installed 2024)

April 13, 2026

I recently had my 25 year old asphalt roof replaced with an Interlock Metal roof. I'm so very happy with my decision. In fact, best decision ever to have Interlock Industries install. The metal roof is manufactured in Delta, BC and they have their own installers. It's not panels! It looks very much like a cedar roof! Colour is awesome as well! My home is located in Victoria on Vancouver Island and looks great with my new roof! Interlock is a very professional business from contract signing to installation. Amazing crew that gets the job done in a timely manner. My roof looks fabulous. It's a work of art!!

Aurora, ON Metal Roofing Review — Interlock Installation (2016)

April 12, 2026

We moved into our new house in 1984. Our new house came with new 25 year shingles. In 2004, 20 years later we noticed that our roof shingles needed to be redone. Now, back in 1984 they used asbestos in the roof shingles and although at the time they said they were 25 year shingles, we were still happy to get 20 years out of them. So, in 2004 we got a quote and had the roof re-shingled. We paid extra for the 25 year shingles as we had such a good result with the original shingles. In 2016 (i.e. 12 years later) my neighbour told us that our shingles on the south side of the house were cracked with rolled up edges and needed to be replaced. (We can't see the south roof of our house unless we are visiting the neighbours.) The shingles on the north side were still ok, but since you can't really shingle half a roof we knew that we had to have the whole roof done...after just 12 years. We were a little upset about this and decided to go to the National Home Show in Toronto to look at alternatives. We met Tom Watson at the Interlock Metal Roofing booth and he took a lot of time and explained the complete roofing system to us. We liked what we saw and what was explained to us and we arranged to have a home visit from Interlock and to give us a quote. The metal roof was certainly a lot more expensive than a regular asphalt shingle roof, but we decided to get the metal roof anyways because we did not want the hassle of having to re-shingle every 10 or 11 years...and there are also some other unforeseen benefits detailed below that we did not know about at the time. The metal roof comes with a Lifetime Limited Warranty, 50 year transferable, not prorated so even though more expensive it adds value to lyour home because if in the future you are looking to sell, the buyer knows he won't have any roof problems for the 50 year life of the roof. Your roof becomes an asset instead of a liability. The installation happened over 4-5 days. I paid a lot of attention to what they were doing and how they were doing it. The roof vents were removed. These are the same roof vents that raccoons like to rip off for access to your attic, so that potential problem went away. A ridge vent (google it) was installed on the top of the roof and it is low profile and fits in so you would not know that it is there. Raccoons have been known to chew a hole in asphalt shingles and roofing plywood to get into your attic. With a metal roof, it isn't happening. That mode of access is eliminated. Now, with our previous asphalt shingles we had constant problems with raccoons pooping on our roof (sound familiar?) and for some reason, at least for the last 10 years that we have had the metal roof, that has not happened. I don't know why, but I can speculate that the raccoons find the metal roof very slippery and they are not comfortable being up there and doing their business while trying not to slide off the roof. Also, in the past we have had squirrels occasionally make their way through, under, beside our asphalt shingles and get into our attic. That will never happen with a metal roof because the whole roof is sealed and northing is getting that way. If you are concerned about high winds ripping off your shingles you don't have to worry with a metal roof. Each and every metal shingle is fastened to the roof with aluminum screws (note the metal roof shingles are painted and baked to a tough finish) and they are interlocked with each other, so you may lose your entire roof in a hurricane, but the metal shingles will still be attached to it. We moved into our new house in 1984. After about 2 years of sweating through humid summers, we installed an A/C system. Our new A/C system worked ok in that it removed the humidity and cooled the house, but with the high 37 deg C temperatures it was struggling. The A/C would run continuously and never stopped on those hot days, but once the metal roof was installed it cycled on and off as designed. We highly recommend Interlock Metal Roofing.

Willowbrook, IL Metal Roof Review — Interlock Roofing (Installed 2016)

April 11, 2026

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!
