What our customers are saying:

★★★★★
Review: April 16, 2026Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Bay View

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Bay View, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Bay View.

How does a metal roof handle Wisconsin's heavy snow and ice buildup?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, reducing ice dam risk in Bay View's climate of about 107 cm annual snowfall and roughly 74 freeze-thaw cycles per year. The four-way interlocking panels create a rigid, continuous plane that won't sag under snow load the way aged shingles do. Aluminum weighs only 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile, so no structural reinforcement is needed even though it performs like a permanent roof. Optional snow guards can be installed if you prefer to manage runoff strategically rather than let it slide freely.

Will freeze-thaw cycling damage an aluminum metal roof?

No. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, and it contains no iron, so it cannot rust even through repeated freeze-thaw stress. Bay View experiences about 74 freeze-thaw days annually with average temperatures near 8.4°C and 107 cm of snow, yet aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without cracking, splitting, or curling—problems that plague wood shakes and asphalt in the same conditions. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, stays bonded through these cycles because it's applied to both sides of every panel, protecting the material during Wisconsin's winter-to-spring transitions.

Why don't aluminum roofs rust like steel ones do in wet climates?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it forms an invisible, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal naturally. Milwaukee County's 724 mm of annual rainfall would corrode steel within years, but aluminum actually becomes more resilient with exposure. Interlock panels are 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 roofing-grade aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), and the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish adds a 30-year warranty against degradation, with coating applied to both sides for extra protection. This makes aluminum ideal for Bay View's wet, freeze-thaw environment where steel would fail and wood would rot.

Can a metal roof survive Bay View's wind gusts and storms?

Yes—the four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Bay View's typical daily-max winds average 23 km/h with gusts reaching about 107 km/h, well below the roof's rated capacity. The mechanical lock-and-overlap design means wind cannot lift or separate panels; they move as one rigid assembly. Interlock Metal Roofing has installed systems from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctica since 1998, proof that the interlocking geometry performs under extreme conditions. With proper installation, your roof will outlast any storm Wisconsin sends.

Do metal roofs help lower cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat rather than absorb it, with thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance as high as 0.55 on Aged Copper Penny. While Bay View's 3165 annual sunshine hours and mean temperature of 8.4°C mean summer cooling is secondary to winter durability, the reflective coating still reduces attic heat gain on warm days, cutting air-conditioning load. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms measured performance. Over a 50+ year lifespan, even modest summer cooling savings compound alongside the elimination of tear-off landfill costs and the transfer of your warranty to the next owner, making energy efficiency part of aluminum's total value story.

What exactly does Interlock's lifetime warranty cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, a rare benefit that protects your investment and adds resale appeal. Unlike prorated warranties that shrink year by year, this coverage remains full-strength for your entire ownership. In Bay View's challenging 107 cm snow, 724 mm rain, and 74 freeze-thaw cycle environment, this protection means you buy once and never worry about material failure—your roof becomes the last one you'll ever install.

How much upkeep does an aluminum metal roof require?

Virtually none compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. Aluminum won't rot, split, curl, or degrade the way cedar shakes do after 74 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 107 cm of snow. It doesn't require re-sealing, re-coating, or moss treatment. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, and occasional rinsing removes dirt and pollen from Bay View's 724 mm annual rainfall. Interlock's CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden. Most homeowners simply enjoy their roof; no gutter cleaning or leak repairs. This simplicity is one reason the warranty transfers to the next owner—the roof's integrity doesn't depend on constant upkeep.

Can an aluminum metal roof be installed over my existing roof?

Yes. Interlock's extraordinary light weight—the Mediterranean Tile profile is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—allows installation over most existing roofs without structural reinforcement. A solid deck and underlayment create an asphalt-quiet interior (metal roof noise is a myth), while the existing roof stays in place, saving tear-off costs and landfill impact. Interlock Metal Roofing has served the region since 2001 and knows Bay View's homes well. Installation timeline depends on your roof's size and complexity, but the process is straightforward: no major construction, no temporary exposure to weather, no weeks of disruption. Your roof can be completed in days to a few weeks depending on scope.

How is aluminum roofing better for the environment?

Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, compared to asphalt's journey to the landfill. In Bay View's damp climate with 724 mm annual rainfall and aggressive freeze-thaw stress, asphalt shingles fail in 15–20 years, and your roof becomes construction waste. Interlock's lifetime warranty means one roof lasts 50+ years with minimal replacement, and when it does reach end of life, the aluminum goes back into the recycling stream indefinitely. Over three to four asphalt tear-and-replace cycles, the environmental cost—hauling, landfill methane, new manufacturing—is staggering. Choosing aluminum ends that waste cycle and leaves a smaller footprint for the next owner, who inherits your 50-year transferable warranty.

What roof styles does Interlock offer for a Bay View home?

Five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—each delivering authentic visual character in roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum (ASTM B209). Whether your home's architecture calls for traditional wood shake charm, modern standing seam lines, or European tile aesthetics, the four-way interlocking panels provide the same uncompromising durability, Class 4 hail rating, and lifetime warranty. The aluminum's hard, smooth surface resists the moss, rot, and weathering that plague wood or real tile in Bay View's 107 cm annual snow and freeze-thaw cycles. Your choice of style is purely aesthetic; the engineering beneath is identical—engineered to outlast the home itself.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Bay View’s climate?

Yes. Bay View averages about 107 cm of snow, 724 mm of rain, roughly 74 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 107 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
