Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Park Knoll, Wisconsin
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI
I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.
One and Done! Roof should be good for our lifetime and our kids lifetime and possibly our grandkids. Keep the farm in the family :)
Resident at the home was dissatisfied with the clean up as a mess was left on the deck area.
It's too early to tell. The roof looks good and has held up against rain for one month. Scheduling the project was very challenging. It took lots of pushing and back and forth to establish a two week window, months out, for the installation. It took from October until August the next year from start to finish. This most likely wouldn't be an issue for most people, but my roof was already leaking and my work schedule is abnormal. The installation team was excellent. Nice people, clear interactions and expectations.
The crew did a very good job. They were very cordial and answered all my questions very well. The timeframe for when it was going to be completed fell short of my expectations. I don't know if they can do anything about it, but we are still getting remnants from when they cut. I just picked up another piece today. When they are cutting, they are probably leaving those things on the roof somewhere, and eventually they blow down and are sharp. I worry about people walking on them.
The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.
They can improve their communication after signing the contract with a salesperson. There were a few months where I didn't have a direct contact to check in for materials during the timeframe of the project because I had a couple of projects going on at the same time with the solar panels being installed. It all worked out, but I think that would be an area to improve in. It looks beautiful, and I love it!
The communication could be improved, as well as the follow-up. I wonder how responsive they will be in the future. Their work was amazing but the communication wasn't. Communication was very poor, but the roof is amazing and its quality good.
Better communication around delays in start date. I would have been find with delays if they were transparent and kept to date as we passed what we were told multiple times.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Park Knoll
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Park Knoll, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Park Knoll.
Will a metal roof handle Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles better than asphalt?
Yes—aluminum's crystalline structure doesn't absorb water, so it won't crack, curl, or degrade through the roughly 79 freeze-thaw days Park Knoll experiences annually. Asphalt absorbs moisture; when that water freezes and expands, it splits the shingles from within. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, and the 3105-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) has been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctica since 1998, proving its durability through extreme thermal stress. Your roof won't deteriorate from repeated freezing—it'll outlast several generations of traditional shingles.
How does a metal roof perform under Park Knoll's snow load?
Metal roofing handles snow exceptionally well because it sheds weight rather than accumulating it. Park Knoll receives roughly 88 cm of snow annually, and the Interlock Slate or Shake profiles install at just 0.41–0.58 lb per square foot—so even a full snow load places minimal stress on your structure. The four-way interlocking panels prevent wind-driven snow from infiltrating seams, and because aluminum conducts heat differently than asphalt, ice dams form less readily. If you want additional snow retention, snow guards mount easily to the standing-seam profile without compromising the roof's integrity.
Can metal roofing withstand Park Knoll's wind gusts and storms?
The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification—well above the typical daily gusts of about 22 km/h that Park Knoll experiences, and even the extreme gusts reaching 96 km/h. Each panel locks on all four sides, so wind cannot peel or lift them. The warranty covers wind resistance explicitly, and because the panels weigh only 0.41–0.59 lb per square foot depending on profile, they experience less wind load than heavier materials. In a region where seasonal storms are common, this design means your roof stays secure without the vulnerability of traditional shingles.
Will hail damage a metal roof, and could I save on insurance?
No—Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible aluminum construction often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because claims for hail, wind, or impact damage are dramatically lower than with asphalt or traditional tile. Many insurers recognize that metal roofs reduce risk; contact your provider with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating to ask about premium reductions. Over a 40-year roof life in a region with unpredictable severe weather, these savings can offset a significant portion of installation costs.
What makes the Guardian Warranty different from a typical roof warranty?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance without declining payouts as the roof ages. When you sell, it transfers to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding genuine resale value. Most asphalt warranties are prorated and last only 15–25 years; by contrast, this aluminum roof could be the last roof you install. Because Park Knoll's freeze-thaw cycling (about 79 days annually) and 822 mm of rain create relentless conditions, having a truly non-prorated lifetime backstop means you're protected against the material failures that typically end a roof's life.
Can you install a metal roof directly over my existing shingles?
Yes—because the Interlock Mediterranean Tile, Shake, and Shingle profiles weigh only 0.41–0.59 lb per square foot (about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile), they install over most existing roofs without structural reinforcement. This saves thousands in tear-off and disposal costs. Interlock Metal Roofing, serving the region since 2001, handles the assessment during your consultation to confirm your existing structure can support the overlay. The installation is straightforward: fasteners are driven through the old shingles into the roof deck, and the four-way interlocking panels begin locking together immediately. A typical residential roof in Park Knoll completes in 2–4 days, minimizing disruption.
How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or tile?
Metal roofing requires minimal maintenance: an occasional gentle rinse to remove debris, especially after Park Knoll's roughly 88 cm annual snowfall. Unlike asphalt, which requires regular inspection for cracking, curling, and granule loss, aluminum won't split, rot, or deteriorate from moisture or freeze-thaw cycles. Unlike wood or cedar shingles, it needs no staining, sealing, or insect treatment. Unlike tile, it won't crack from impact or settlement. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation (reissued 2025) certifies this roof as CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Over 40 years, the time and money you save on repairs, replacements, and preventive treatments vastly exceed what you'd spend on asphalt or traditional materials.
Can a metal roof actually help lower my cooling costs?
Yes—energy-efficient Interlock colors have thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance reaching 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. Park Knoll receives about 3,128 sunshine hours annually, so even moderate reflectance compounds over time. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms this effect under real-world conditions. In summer, a reflective metal roof can reduce attic temperature by 20–30°F compared to dark asphalt, lowering your cooling load and air-conditioning runtime. Combined with proper attic ventilation, this translates to measurable savings on your energy bills, especially during the region's warmer months.
What roof styles are available, and do they look like real slate or cedar shake?
Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—each engineered to replicate the visual depth and texture of the traditional material it represents. The Slate profile mimics dimensional roofing stone; the Cedar Shingle and Shake profiles capture the irregular butt lines and shadow play of wood; the Tile profile echoes curved clay barrel tiles; and Standing Seam delivers clean, modern lines. Because these are aluminum panels with precision stamping and a 30-year fade-resistant Alunar finish, they hold their appearance far longer than wood, which weathers and grays. From street view, the authenticity of these profiles makes a genuine visual statement about your home's character—and they perform with metal's durability, not wood's vulnerability to rot, insects, or fire.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Park Knoll, and what experience do they have?
Interlock Metal Roofing has served the Park Knoll and Milwaukee County region since 2001, installing these four-way interlocking aluminum panels across residential and commercial properties. The company knows local weather patterns—the roughly 79 freeze-thaw days, 822 mm of annual rainfall, and gusts reaching 96 km/h—and designs installations accordingly. Their familiarity with building codes (ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance) and local permitting streamlines your project. They perform on-site assessments to confirm overlay feasibility, handle fastening and interlocking precisely to achieve the 120 mph wind warranty, and stand behind workmanship. For a 40-year investment, having a local, established installer who understands your climate and will service the roof for decades is invaluable.
