Review: June 9, 2026 Completion: June 10, 2026

Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: April 16, 2026 Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Resident at the home was dissatisfied with the clean up as a mess was left on the deck area.

Review: September 27, 2023 Completion: August 29, 2023

It's too early to tell. The roof looks good and has held up against rain for one month. Scheduling the project was very challenging. It took lots of pushing and back and forth to establish a two week window, months out, for the installation. It took from October until August the next year from start to finish. This most likely wouldn't be an issue for most people, but my roof was already leaking and my work schedule is abnormal. The installation team was excellent. Nice people, clear interactions and expectations.

Review: July 27, 2023 Completion: May 22, 2023

The crew did a very good job. They were very cordial and answered all my questions very well. The timeframe for when it was going to be completed fell short of my expectations. I don't know if they can do anything about it, but we are still getting remnants from when they cut. I just picked up another piece today. When they are cutting, they are probably leaving those things on the roof somewhere, and eventually they blow down and are sharp. I worry about people walking on them.

Review: June 8, 2023 Completion: April 30, 2023

The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Review: May 9, 2023 Completion: March 24, 2023

They can improve their communication after signing the contract with a salesperson. There were a few months where I didn't have a direct contact to check in for materials during the timeframe of the project because I had a couple of projects going on at the same time with the solar panels being installed. It all worked out, but I think that would be an area to improve in. It looks beautiful, and I love it!

Review: October 26, 2022 Completion: October 17, 2022

The communication could be improved, as well as the follow-up. I wonder how responsive they will be in the future. Their work was amazing but the communication wasn't. Communication was very poor, but the roof is amazing and its quality good.

Better communication around delays in start date. I would have been find with delays if they were transparent and kept to date as we passed what we were told multiple times.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Capitol Heights

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Capitol Heights, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Capitol Heights.

Will metal roofing hold up through Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions. Capitol Heights experiences about 79 freeze-thaw days per year, which destroys asphalt (it cracks and curls) and weakens wood shakes. Aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings but doesn't crack, split, or lose structural integrity. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered for this cycling. The oxide layer that forms on aluminum self-heals when scratched, so freeze-thaw damage doesn't expose bare metal to corrosion. That's why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station—extreme temperature swings are handled by design.

How does metal roofing handle Capitol Heights' snow and ice load?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice efficiently because the smooth, interlocked surface prevents buildup that traps water underneath. With about 88 cm of snow per year in this area, proper shedding is critical to preventing ice dams that cause leaks and soffit damage. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels create a unified surface with no gaps for water to penetrate. If you need snow guards for steep pitches or to protect walkways, they install easily on the standing seam or slate profiles. The material's light weight—the Slate profile at roughly 0.41 lb/sq ft—means your structure handles snow load without reinforcement, unlike concrete tile roofs that require expensive framing upgrades.

Why doesn't aluminum roofing rust like steel does?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust is iron oxide, and there's no iron to oxidize. Instead, aluminum forms a transparent oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath. When that layer gets scratched, it self-heals automatically by reacting with oxygen in the air. In Capitol Heights, where you get about 822 mm of rain annually, this self-healing property is invaluable. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214) is applied to both sides of every panel—extra insurance in damp climates. Steel roofs rust through; aluminum roofs don't. Your roof will outlive the house before corrosion becomes an issue.

Can metal roofing stand up to Wisconsin wind and ice storms?

Yes. Capitol Heights sees typical wind gusts around 96 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way system—each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides—creates a unified, rigid surface that doesn't lift or separate in gusts. UL 2218 Class 4 impact testing confirms that even hailstones up to 1.5 inches don't puncture the panels, so wind-driven ice and debris won't either. The standing seam profile offers additional wind resistance for high-exposure sites. Unlike asphalt shingles, which get torn off in storms and leave your house vulnerable, this roof gets stronger the harder the wind blows.

What's the actual warranty on Interlock metal roofing, and how long will it really last?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, which adds real resale value. In practical terms, the roofing-grade aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24, ASTM B209) and Alunar® 70% PVDF coating (30-year fade warranty) last well beyond 50 years in normal conditions. Interlock has manufactured panels since 1998, and installed roofs from that era are still performing. Freeze-thaw cycling in Capitol Heights at 79 days per year doesn't degrade aluminum—it's the material that withstands it best. This is the last roof you buy.

Is metal roofing light enough to install over my existing roof?

Yes, in most cases. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than real concrete or clay tile—so it installs over most existing roofs with no structural reinforcement needed. The Shake profile runs about 0.58 lb/sq ft, and the Slate is even lighter at 0.41 lb/sq ft. Compare that to asphalt shingles (around 2–3 lb/sq ft when layered) and you're often removing less weight than you're adding. A structural engineer can confirm your specific framing, but the aluminum's light weight solves the expensive-upgrade problem that keeps most homeowners from considering real slate or tile. In Capitol Heights, where snow loads reach about 88 cm per year, having a roof that's strong but light is a real advantage for both structure and energy efficiency.

Will a metal roof keep my house cooler and lower energy bills?

energy-efficient colors reflect more solar heat than asphalt absorbs. Interlock's rated reflectance reaches up to 0.55 for Aged Copper Penny, with thermal emissivity of 0.84—meaning the roof reflects heat rather than trapping it. Capitol Heights gets about 3128 sunshine hours per year, so summertime cooling savings add up. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms the performance. In winter, when you're heating, the reflective surface doesn't hurt because the sun's angle is low and most heat is generated indoors anyway. Metal roofing paired with proper attic ventilation and insulation typically shows measurable summer cooling reduction without winter heating penalty. The lighter weight also means less thermal mass to heat and cool, improving efficiency year-round.

How much maintenance does metal roofing really need?

Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles that degrade in sun and cold, wood shakes that split and rot, or tile that cracks and leaks around fasteners, aluminum roofing doesn't require regular maintenance. You don't seal it, don't re-nail it, and don't replace damaged sections. Rain rinses away debris; snow and ice shed naturally. In Capitol Heights, with about 822 mm of rain annually and 79 freeze-thaw days per year, asphalt shingles need frequent attention—moss treatment, debris removal, sealing. Metal roofing in the same climate runs unattended. The only task: inspect gutters and downspouts annually (standard for any roof). The Alunar® 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty against chalking and fading) ensures the finish stays bright and protective with zero intervention. That's the whole maintenance plan.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in the Capitol Heights area?

Interlock Metal Roofing, the manufacturer, has been serving the region since 2001. That's not a contractor who stocks the product—it's the company that engineered and built it, installing it directly. You're working with people who understand the ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025), the UL 2218 Class 4 rating, the four-way interlocking system, and how to handle freeze-thaw cycles specific to Milwaukee County. They've installed thousands of roofs from this plant in Delta, BC, across North America. Local service means no middleman markup, direct warranty support, and installers who know what they're doing on Wisconsin freeze-thaw roofs. Call them directly for a site visit and honest assessment of your home's needs.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes, significantly. Aluminum is about 95% recyclable—when your roof finally needs replacement (likely 50+ years from now), the entire thing goes back to the aluminum mill as raw material, not a landfill. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are torn off every 15–20 years and sent to the dump, where they sit for decades. Over a 50-year period, a Capitol Heights home might generate four asphalt tear-offs versus zero metal tear-offs. That's four truckloads to landfill avoided. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is energy-efficient to produce compared to virgin aluminum, and its durability—no replacement, no maintenance chemicals, no re-roofing cycles—saves resources across your home's life. CALGreen verification confirms the reduced-maintenance profile. Choosing metal ends the asphalt cycle.
