Aluminum Roofing in Tigard, OR — Interlock Replaced Rotting Deck & Trusses Installed 2017

Tigard, OR

TL;DR: Tigard Review Summary

Roofing installation in Tigard, Oregon. The homeowner discovered rotting plywood that couldn’t support nails for the new metal roof and also found rotting, cracking roof truss pieces, all of which were removed and replaced. Interlock performed the additional work at a reasonable price, worked hard and efficiently to complete the job before it began raining seriously, and the homeowner says they are thankful and enjoy the new roof.
Philip T.

We live in Tigard Oregon. We were able to schedule the installation of the new roof just before the Rainy season began. We had the old shingles removed and found that our plywood was rotting and that it could not support the nails for the new metal roof. Interlock removed the rotting plywood and then we found that some of the supporting roof truss pieces were also rotting and cracking. So Interlock also replaced them. The price for the additional work was reasonable and though it all took longer to accomplish the goal, they worked hard and efficiently and it was completed before it began raining seriously. We continue to be thankful and we enjoy our new roof!

Top 10 Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Tigard

Homeowners researching metal roofing in Tigard often have several important questions before replacing their roof. Many people want to understand how metal roofing compares to traditional materials like asphalt shingles in terms of lifespan, durability, cost, and long-term value. Roofing decisions can also be influenced by local weather conditions. Homes in Tigard may experience environmental factors such as rain, wind, snow, heat, fire, or seasonal storms that can impact roof performance over time. The following frequently asked questions help explain what homeowners should know when evaluating metal roofing and why many people choose durable roofing systems designed for long-term protection.

Metal roofs commonly last at least 50–75+ years, while asphalt shingles typically last 15–30 years depending on quality and maintenance. Tigard sees roughly 41–42 inches of rain annually with very little snow, and cool, damp winters that encourage moss and algae growth—two local factors that affect roof longevity and performance. Heavy rainfall and persistent moisture accelerate rot and biological growth on asphalt, but promote corrosion only on uncoated metals. That’s why homeowners choose durable metal systems: they shed water, resist moss and algae, and withstand Pacific Northwest wet winters. For long-term protection, Interlock Metal Roofing systems use heavy-gauge aluminum and include a lifetime limited 50-year transferable warranty designed specifically for lasting performance in climates like Tigard’s.
Metal roofs in Tigard typically cost more upfront than asphalt shingles, but final pricing depends on roof size, slope, complexity (ridges, valleys, skylights), tear-off, flashing, and labor. Tigard’s wet, mild climate—with roughly 40–50 inches of annual precipitation—plus frequent overcast conditions promotes moss and algae growth that shortens some roofing materials’ service life, making durability and low-maintenance finishes important local considerations. Many homeowners weigh lifetime value (longer warranty, lower maintenance, fewer repairs) rather than initial price alone because durable metal systems can reduce future repair and replacement costs. Interlock Metal Roofing positions its products and installation around long-term ownership value—not as the lowest-cost bid—so homeowners seeking durability in Tigard’s rainy, moss-prone environment often find better overall value despite higher upfront cost.
Tigard has wet, mild Pacific Northwest winters—about 40–45 inches of precipitation annually. Persistent humidity and shaded yards encourage moss and algae on roofs, while snow loads are usually minor. Metal roofing typically lasts 40–70 years versus 15–30 for asphalt shingles. Maintenance for shingles includes periodic moss/algae removal, spot repairs, and earlier replacement; metal needs less frequent cleaning and paint touch-ups. Durability: metal resists rot, moss, and wind uplift better; shingles are more vulnerable to moisture-related decay and granule loss. Long-term value: metal’s higher upfront cost can pay off with longer service life and lower maintenance in Tigard’s wet climate. Homeowners who prioritize durability and long-term protection often choose metal; others may prefer shingles for lower initial cost or specific aesthetics. Interlock Metal Roofing appeals in Tigard because interlocking panels improve watertightness and offer lasting performance plus strong architectural curb appeal.
This is a common myth: metal roofs are noisy when it rains in Tigard, OR. Modern residential metal roofs installed over solid decking do not sound like barn roofs. Sound levels depend on the roof assembly—insulation, attic space and underlayment all reduce impact noise—so a well-insulated home with proper roof deck and sheathing will sound similar to other roofing materials. Installation quality matters: secure fastenings, continuous deck and appropriate underlayment minimize flapping or amplification. Properly installed residential metal roofs are typically similar in sound to asphalt, tile or shake. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are installed as complete roofing systems designed for residential homes, including the components that help control noise.
In Tigard, OR, a metal roof can be energy efficient because reflective coatings and light-colored finishes reduce solar heat gain by reflecting sunlight. That’s only part of the story: the roof assembly, insulation level, and attic ventilation strongly influence net energy performance by limiting conductive and convective heat transfer. Climate matters too—Tigard’s Pacific Northwest climate with mild summers and cool, wet winters yields more modest cooling savings than hot regions but still benefits from metal’s durability and moisture shedding. Homeowners researching roof replacement often consider energy efficiency to lower utility bills, improve year‑round comfort, qualify for incentives, and increase resale value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are designed to work with proper assemblies and ventilation to support long‑term home performance.
In Tigard, OR, roofs routinely face heavy seasonal rain, episodic high winds, falling branches, and occasional hail during Pacific Northwest storms. Metal roofing performs well in wind when engineered with interlocking panels and secure fastenings to resist uplift; it sheds heavy rain and, depending on gauge and finish, offers strong impact resistance to hail. Performance, however, depends on system design, installer workmanship, and material durability — even metal roofs need proper underlayment, fastening patterns, and trims. Homeowners weigh weather resilience to protect structure, lower long‑term repair costs, meet insurance or code needs, and preserve resale value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered specifically for durability, enhanced hail protection, and tested wind resistance to address Tigard’s weather challenges. Very large hail can dent lighter gauges, so selecting a heavier gauge or impact‑rated finish matters; regular inspections after storms preserve performance.
Corrosion and rust resistance are key considerations for metal roofing in Tigard, OR. Metal roofing performance depends on the base metal—steel, aluminum, copper, and zinc behave differently over time. Some materials (for example, aluminum and zinc) are inherently more resistant to corrosion than bare steel, especially in wet Pacific Northwest conditions. Aluminum performs particularly well in wet or coastal environments because it naturally forms a protective oxide layer. Homeowners should weigh corrosion resistance when selecting roofing materials to maximize lifespan, reduce maintenance and avoid premature staining or failure. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use aluminum construction designed for strong corrosion resistance, and their panels are further protected by the proprietary Alunar Coating System for extra protection.
Metal roofing in Tigard, OR is generally low maintenance: durable panels resist rot, insects and many weather effects. However, no roof is completely maintenance‑free. Homeowners should inspect their metal roofs periodically—after storms and seasonally—for accumulated debris, loose fasteners, damaged flashing, clogged gutters and compromised penetrations (vents, chimneys, skylights). Remove leaves and branches, clear gutters to prevent standing water, and check sealants around flashings and penetrations. Heavy winter storms, wind, hail or falling branches can cause localized damage; salt or acidic runoff from nearby landscaping can affect finishes over time. With routine inspections and prompt minor repairs, metal roofing remains a long‑lasting, low‑maintenance choice for Tigard homes.
In Tigard, OR, metal roofing can increase home value. Buyers often prioritize durable, low-maintenance roofs that reduce future repair costs and insurance concerns. Premium metal materials also enhance curb appeal, helping a home stand out in local listings. A long lifespan — often decades longer than asphalt — improves buyer confidence in the investment. Still, architectural style matters: homes in established Tigard neighborhoods may benefit most when the roof complements surrounding styles. Interlock Metal Roofing systems provide multiple architectural profiles—slate, cedar shingle, Mediterranean tile, shake, and standing seam—available in heavy-gauge aluminum and solid copper, allowing you to match traditional or contemporary aesthetics while delivering resilience and longevity. Consult local appraisers or real estate agents in Tigard to gauge the expected premium for your neighborhood.
Yes. Tigard’s climate features wet, mild winters and about 40–45 inches of annual precipitation, increasing roof moisture exposure and freeze–thaw cycles. The Pacific Northwest’s persistent dampness also promotes moss and algae on susceptible roofing materials, so durable, low‑maintenance roofs are preferred. Interlock Metal Roofing Systems are solar‑compatible: Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc installs custom solar brackets and their systems are designed to accept solar mounting solutions. When comparing materials, metal roofs like Interlock resist moss, shed rain, and typically offer decades of service, reducing the chance you’ll need to remove panels for a premature re‑roof. Plan for future solar when replacing your roof; roof lifespan is a key factor when adding panels.

I’ve had my interlock roof for 14 yrs and have had no issues with it until this last winter. We had heavier than normal snow and a lot of freeze thaw conditions. Several of the snow deflectors were pushed forward and lifted some of the roof. I emailed Dave and Tyler and repairs were made quickly . You can’t tell there was any concerns at all.

Metal Shingle Roof Review in Sudbury, ON (Interlock - Installed 2017)

Review: April 25, 2026

Completion: June 7, 2018

We had our roof replaced in 2017 with an aluminum roof by Interlock Metal Roofing. We live on the lake, and prior to the replacement, we were spending thousands of dollars every year because shingles would fly off in the wind.

We haven’t had any issues in the past 7 years. Our experience with Interlock Metal Roofing was excellent — they were very professional and did a beautiful job, even though our roof is quite high and challenging.

Our roof still looks beautiful, and we haven’t had to worry about it at all in the past 9 years.

I love my Interlock roof! No more climbing up to clean it, and no more gritty debris falling into my garden after a few years. It looks fantastic and performs exactly as it should.

The installers were excellent—knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and personable. Ivan is a gem! He handled a small flashing addition efficiently and cleaned the entire roof with a blower in no time.

After almost ten years, it’s still the only roof I would choose.

We are so happy with our interlock roof from Bruce. We had shopped around because we live on the lake with strong winds and we wanted a quality, long lasting product. Our roof has never changed colour and looks just as good now as the day it was installed. We also love the lifetime transferable warranty. We also love that it is made in Canada so there are no tariffs. Bruce was our sales person. He came right away, explained everything to us. We made the right decision not choosing shingles because of the environment and quality of the product. This was an affordable investment that was worth it. The crew was professional in every aspect. If I move, I will definitely be contacting Bruce again for another interlock roof.

Portland, OR Metal Shingles Review — Safety Anchors Installed 2019

Review: April 20, 2026

Completion: June 20, 2019

We’ve had our roof for about 7 years and have been very pleased with it. Recently, I scheduled gutter cleaning which was complicated by a run of wet weather which makes the roof very slippery. The gutter contractor asked if we had ever considered installing safety anchors. I didn’t know there was such a thing. I called Interlock and Ivan came by to take a look. He quickly determined appropriate locations for the anchors that the gutter cleaners could clip their safety harnesses to and showed me an example of the anchor itself. He also offered to paint them black to make them more inconspicuous on our dark roof. He returned about a week later for the install and afterwards showed us pictures of the anchors from the roof and pointed them out from the ground. Overall very professional, prompt, excellent service.

Interlock Metal Shingle Roof Review in Bay View, WI (Installed 2009)

Review: April 16, 2026

Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Interlock Metal Roofing Review in Saint Paul, AB — 50-Year Warranty (Installed 2025)

Review: April 15, 2026

Completion: August 31, 2025

We recently installed a new Interlock Roofing System, and we couldn’t be happier with the decision. Knowing it’s backed by a limited lifetime, non-prorated, fully transferable 50-year warranty gives us real peace of mind—it truly feels like a smart long-term investment. Mr. Yorman and his crew were outstanding from start to finish. Their commitment to customer service is second to none. They showed up exactly when they said they would and worked diligently until the job was completed. The finished product looks fantastic, and the cleanup was so thorough that our property actually looked better than before they arrived. A special mention to Tyler, who did an excellent job walking us through the benefits and helping us feel confident in choosing this system. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended!

I recently had my 25 year old asphalt roof replaced with an Interlock Metal roof. I'm so very happy with my decision. In fact, best decision ever to have Interlock Industries install. The metal roof is manufactured in Delta, BC and they have their own installers. It's not panels! It looks very much like a cedar roof! Colour is awesome as well! My home is located in Victoria on Vancouver Island and looks great with my new roof! Interlock is a very professional business from contract signing to installation. Amazing crew that gets the job done in a timely manner. My roof looks fabulous. It's a work of art!!

Aurora, ON Metal Roofing Review — Interlock Installation (2016)

Review: April 13, 2026

Completion: May 3, 2016

We moved into our new house in 1984. Our new house came with new 25 year shingles. In 2004, 20 years later we noticed that our roof shingles needed to be redone. Now, back in 1984 they used asbestos in the roof shingles and although at the time they said they were 25 year shingles, we were still happy to get 20 years out of them. So, in 2004 we got a quote and had the roof re-shingled. We paid extra for the 25 year shingles as we had such a good result with the original shingles. In 2016 (i.e. 12 years later) my neighbour told us that our shingles on the south side of the house were cracked with rolled up edges and needed to be replaced. (We can't see the south roof of our house unless we are visiting the neighbours.) The shingles on the north side were still ok, but since you can't really shingle half a roof we knew that we had to have the whole roof done...after just 12 years. We were a little upset about this and decided to go to the National Home Show in Toronto to look at alternatives. We met Tom Watson at the Interlock Metal Roofing booth and he took a lot of time and explained the complete roofing system to us. We liked what we saw and what was explained to us and we arranged to have a home visit from Interlock and to give us a quote. The metal roof was certainly a lot more expensive than a regular asphalt shingle roof, but we decided to get the metal roof anyways because we did not want the hassle of having to re-shingle every 10 or 11 years...and there are also some other unforeseen benefits detailed below that we did not know about at the time. The metal roof comes with a Lifetime Limited Warranty, 50 year transferable, not prorated so even though more expensive it adds value to lyour home because if in the future you are looking to sell, the buyer knows he won't have any roof problems for the 50 year life of the roof. Your roof becomes an asset instead of a liability. The installation happened over 4-5 days. I paid a lot of attention to what they were doing and how they were doing it. The roof vents were removed. These are the same roof vents that raccoons like to rip off for access to your attic, so that potential problem went away. A ridge vent (google it) was installed on the top of the roof and it is low profile and fits in so you would not know that it is there. Raccoons have been known to chew a hole in asphalt shingles and roofing plywood to get into your attic. With a metal roof, it isn't happening. That mode of access is eliminated. Now, with our previous asphalt shingles we had constant problems with raccoons pooping on our roof (sound familiar?) and for some reason, at least for the last 10 years that we have had the metal roof, that has not happened. I don't know why, but I can speculate that the raccoons find the metal roof very slippery and they are not comfortable being up there and doing their business while trying not to slide off the roof. Also, in the past we have had squirrels occasionally make their way through, under, beside our asphalt shingles and get into our attic. That will never happen with a metal roof because the whole roof is sealed and northing is getting that way. If you are concerned about high winds ripping off your shingles you don't have to worry with a metal roof. Each and every metal shingle is fastened to the roof with aluminum screws (note the metal roof shingles are painted and baked to a tough finish) and they are interlocked with each other, so you may lose your entire roof in a hurricane, but the metal shingles will still be attached to it. We moved into our new house in 1984. After about 2 years of sweating through humid summers, we installed an A/C system. Our new A/C system worked ok in that it removed the humidity and cooled the house, but with the high 37 deg C temperatures it was struggling. The A/C would run continuously and never stopped on those hot days, but once the metal roof was installed it cycled on and off as designed. We highly recommend Interlock Metal Roofing.

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!
