The roof qualified for federal energy credits and meets “Energy Star” ratings, so I saved money on taxes

Portsmouth, Rhode Island

5/5

It has been a year since I had my Interlock roof installed and I have meant to write this letter. I am glad I waited because I discovered additional advantages to the roof system by Interlock. I initially was impressed by the planning. Mr. Baldassari explained roof, brought samples, how it would be installed on my house and interface with existing gutters. He also provided local addresses of Interlock roofs that I could view which was very helpful.  During the planning process, he recommended changes I may not have thought of but would eliminate future costs and problems.  In my case, he recommended the replacement of several failing skylights which I would purchase but be installed at no charge.

The job went smoothly. The crew showed up early and stayed late, answered all my questions, leaving a clean, organized job site at the end of each day. The attention to detail was impressive. The house was a complex roof with several skylights, vents, and a masonry chimney. There was also a large barn and outbuilding, Demetri, one of the crew, reinstalled a large weathervane on the barn assuring me if he installed it, it would never come off. I was happy with the roof install.

Since the install, I have found additional benefits.  Because my roof had not failed completely the Interlock roof was able to be installed over the existing roof eliminating the cost of strip off and keeping all the asphalt shingles out of the landfill. I also reduced my insurance risk; one of the considerations was the high wind rating. I live in a hurricane high wind zone for insurance coverage. The deductible was about equal to a new asphalt roof if I put a new conventional roof on replacement cost is not covered, and they prorate it and give you even less as the roof ages, so you basically have no roof insurance. I feel I do not have that problem now with the Interlock roof due to the high wind rating and warranty. I have just retired, and this gives me a great piece of mind, a lifetime durable roof.  I also lowered my insurance cost as now all buildings have a class “A” fire rating on the roof. The roof qualified for federal energy credits and meets “Energy Star” ratings, so I saved money on taxes.  My energy costs are lower; the roof reflects summer heat keeping the attic cooler reducing air conditioning costs. My attic is vented to outside and uninsulated, so there is no advantage to heating. This roof also eliminates ice dams due to its design, and while many homes had ice dams and water damage to the interior of the house last winter, I had no formation of ice dams and no damage at all, an unexpected bonus. I do not notice any noise from rain or weather an initial concern I had.  I live on a busy street and have people stop to compliment on the roof (aged copper) and get information which I am happy to give.  I have a more beautiful home, peace of mind, and will never have to re-roof.

Thanks,
David R.

The roof has been fine; we have no issues

Critical: Professionalism, Responsiveness

My husband and I purchased a home with an existing Interlock roof from his parents this past year. The roof has been fine, we have no issues. However, we are looking to add an addition to our home and because interlock requires their staff to perform all work on the roof because of the warranty we contacted them regarding this. My husband has attempted to reach Interlock for the past 1-2 months with out any call back from anyone. He just keeps getting the front desk secretary that answers the phone and takes the message. He has even requested to speak with the supervisor of the Sharon branch, but again with no call back. I have never experienced such a terrible customer service experience from a company. I do not recommend pursuing a metal roof with Interlock for the fear that if you had a problem with your roof, you may not get in touch with anyone to repair it. If you do proceed with Interlock, prepare yourself to have to call them multiple times per day every day.

Update: I received a call back from Interlock today after receiving my google review. Thankfully, they have begun to work on my outstanding issue.

I can't tell you how happy I am I made this investment

5/5

Even though I have only had my new roof for one week, I don’t feel it’s too soon to tell you how much I love it. It looks so neat and professional. My neighbors are all going crazy over it! It has made a big hit in my neighborhood.
The workers who installed the roof were professional, courteous, hard workers, and extremely neat. Sometimes big home improvements can be very stressful. This was stress-free.

Also, I have to say last night it rained so hard, but I did not hear a thing. I can’t tell you how happy I am I made this investment,
Paul Curtis was a pleasure to work with, a true professional. I would definitely recommend your company and Paul to others. In addition, I had the pleasure of speaking with Paul McAllister. Who was also professional and courteous.

Some severe weather has shown that noise is not a problem

Portsmouth, Rhode Island

5/5

Dear Interlock:

It has been a couple of months since the installation of my Interlock roof was completed, and two neighborhood endorsements have been forthcoming in that period. First, neighbors have commented about how good it looks, and second, they have commented on the daily cleanup done by the installation crew. I heartily endorse my neighbors’ comments. The cleanup factor really became evident shortly after when a conventional shingle roof was installed a few houses away by a local contractor. Materials were staged in front of the house rather than out of sight in the rear, and the place looked like a mess until the job was completed.

As you are aware, the design of my house coupled with the prior construction of an addition across the length of the rear presented unusual challenges. While aluminum shingles could be used on the front, the slope of the back required an installation of Interlock’s membrane roof product. Further complicating the matter was a double roof in the rear with no ventilation of the void between the two roofs. Although you built a ventilation solution into the contract price, hidden construction issues once the work commenced on the rear necessitated redesigning the proposed ventilation solution. This could easily have been an opportunity for Interlock to take advantage of the situation, but the pricing of the change was handled by you and your office staff in a very fair manner. The extensive carpentry that became necessary did, I suspect, add the better part of a day to the job, yet the additional cost was nominal for the effort involved. As important as the pricing was to me, it was just as important and most gratifying to see the carpentry skills employed by the installation crew as they implemented the changes.

The one concern my wife had in going with a metal roof was noise during a rainstorm, and some severe weather has shown that noise is not a problem. Also, as everyone is aware, July broke heat records, yet my home’s interior has been more comfortable thanks to the reflectivity of the roof. In conclusion, I am very pleased with the outcome.

Sincerely,
Jeffrey Belden

Lowered the temperature of the second floor during the hot summer months

5/5

The Interlock Roofing System installed on our home has changed the entire look of the building. It has made the house stand out from the other homes on the street.

I am happy to say that the new roof has met or surpassed all that we had hoped for. Not only has it improved the look of the house, but, as you mentioned, it has lowered the temperature of the second floor during the hot summer months. The snow catchers placed on the front porch look as decorative as well as functional.

It is comforting to know as I approach retirement age, that I will never have the expense of replacing the roof again, nor will I have to worry about leaks in the future.

I would also like to comment on the work team that did the installation. I have never had a contractor come in and work as hard as they did. They basically worked from dawn to dusk. I was amazed that they were able to complete the job in about two and a half days, especially considering that they had to redo all the sheathing on our roof.

I thank you and your workers for a job well done.

Top 10 FAQS for Pawtucket, Rhode Island Homeowners Considering a New Roof

How do I know when to replace my roof in Pawtucket?

Look for warning signs such as curling or missing shingles, granules in gutters, visible leaks or water stains on ceilings, daylight showing through roof boards, or a roof that’s 15- 20+ years old. These issues can accelerate in Pawtucket’s climate, especially after harsh winters with heavy snow and ice dams. Interlock Metal Roofing offers free roof inspections to help determine if it’s time for a replacement with our “Never Re-Roof Again” solution.

While traditional asphalt shingles are standard in Pawtucket, they typically only last 15-20 years in our climate due to extreme temperature fluctuations, heavy snow loads, and humidity. In contrast, Interlock Metal Roofing’s heavy-gauge aluminum systems are designed to thrive in Pawtucket’s conditions. They resist rust in our occasionally salt-laden air, prevent ice dam formation, effectively shed snow, and withstand seasonal weather extremes. Their 4-way interlocking design provides unparalleled protection against the strong winds we sometimes experience during coastal storms.

While the initial investment for an Interlock Metal Roofing system is higher than asphalt shingles, the long-term savings make it the more economical choice for Pawtucket homes. When you factor in the cost of replacing an asphalt roof 2-3 times over the same period, plus repair and maintenance expenses, our aluminum roofing systems typically save homeowners money. Additionally, many Pawtucket homeowners see reduced energy costs due to our roofing system’s superior insulating properties and potential insurance premium discounts.
These are common misconceptions. Interlock Metal Roofing systems reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it, which can reduce cooling costs by up to 25% during Pawtucket’s warm summer months. As for noise, our roofing systems are installed with solid sheathing and proper insulation, making them no louder than traditional roofing during rain or storms. Many of our Pawtucket customers report their homes are quieter after installation.
Installing an Interlock Metal Roof typically increases your Pawtucket home’s resale value. Local real estate professionals often highlight premium metal roofing as a significant selling point, especially with our transferable lifetime limited warranty. In Pawtucket’s competitive housing market, homes with metal roofs often sell faster and at higher prices because buyers understand they won’t face roofing expenses for decades. When selling your home, your investment in New England’s Best Roof becomes a marketable asset.
Interlock Metal Roofing systems are designed to excel in Pawtucket’s winter conditions. The smooth surface allows snow to slide off more easily than asphalt shingles, reducing dangerous snow loads. More importantly, our aluminum roofing systems resist ice dam formation – a common and destructive problem with traditional roofs in Pawtucket. The interlocking design also prevents wind-driven snow from infiltrating your roof system, providing superior protection throughout our challenging winter months.
One of the most significant benefits of choosing Interlock Metal Roofing is the minimal maintenance required. Unlike asphalt or wood roofing that needs regular attention in Pawtucket’s climate, our aluminum roofing systems typically only need occasional rinsing with a garden hose to remove leaves or debris. You won’t need to worry about replacing missing shingles after storms, treating for moss and algae growth (common in our humid environment), or making repairs due to sun damage and deterioration. This minimal maintenance will make you feel relieved and free from the usual roofing chores.
While every Pawtucket home is unique, most Interlock Metal Roofing installations are completed in 3-5 days, depending on your home’s size and roof complexity. Our efficient installation teams are trained specifically for our premium aluminum systems and work diligently to minimize disruption to your household. Our Pawtucket customers, like Catherine, who left a 5-star review praising our “friendly, efficient, great service,” appreciate our professional approach to completing projects promptly and with excellent craftsmanship.
Interlock Metal Roofing offers various colors and styles that complement Pawtucket’s diverse architecture, from historic homes to contemporary designs. Our aluminum roofing systems are available in profiles that mimic traditional shingles, slate, shake, or tile, allowing you to maintain your home’s character while upgrading to superior protection. All color options are designed to maintain appearance without fading in Pawtucket’s climate, ensuring your home looks beautiful for decades.
Interlock Metal Roofing systems have a comprehensive lifetime limited warranty supporting our promise to “Never Re-Roof Again.” This warranty covers manufacturing defects, material failure, and specific weather-related damages – far more extensive than the limited coverage offered with traditional roofing materials. The warranty is transferable to new owners if you sell your Pawtucket home, adding significant value to your property. Unlike typical Pawtucket roofing companies, we back our superior product with superior protection for your peace of mind. This warranty advantage will make you feel secure and confident in your roofing investment.

Top 10 FAQS for Bradford, Rhode Island Homeowners Considering a New Roof

How long will my roof last in Bradford's coastal climate?

Due to salt air exposure, traditional asphalt shingles typically last 15-20 years in coastal areas like Bradford. Wood shingles may last 20-25 years with proper maintenance. In contrast, Interlock Metal Roofing systems are made of heavy-gauge aluminum that won’t rust near the ocean and come with a lifetime limited warranty, allowing you to “Never Re-Roof Again.”

Interlock Metal Roofing systems are specifically designed for New England’s varied climate. The 4-way interlocking design protects against high winds common during coastal storms. The aluminum material withstands heavy snow loads and won’t deteriorate from salt air exposure like traditional roofing materials.

This is a common misconception. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are installed with solid sheathing and proper insulation, which makes them no louder than traditional roofing materials. Many homeowners report that their metal roof is quieter than their previous roof during rainstorms.

Yes! Metal roofs reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it, which can reduce cooling costs by up to 25% during Rhode Island summers. For instance, a homeowner with a 2000 square foot house in Bradford could save approximately $ 500 per year on cooling costs. They also provide excellent insulation during winter months. This energy efficiency makes Interlock Metal Roofing an environmentally friendly and cost-effective choice for Bradford homeowners.

While the initial investment for an Interlock Metal Roof is higher than that of asphalt shingles, it’s essential to consider the lifetime value. When you factor in the elimination of replacement costs, reduced maintenance expenses, potential energy savings, and increased home value, an Interlock Metal Roof typically provides better long-term value. Plus, you’ll “Never Re-Roof Again.”

Installing an Interlock Metal Roof can significantly increase your Bradford home’s resale value. Due to their durability and longevity, metal roofs are increasingly desirable in coastal areas. Real estate professionals often highlight premium metal roofing as a selling point, noting the transferable warranty and elimination of future roofing costs for new owners.

Interlock Metal Roofing systems require minimal maintenance compared to traditional roofing materials. For instance, while asphalt or wood shingles may require regular inspections, treatments for moss or algae, and repairs after storms, an Interlock Metal Roof typically only needs an occasional rinsing with a garden hose to remove salt build-up and debris. This means less time and money spent on roof maintenance, allowing you to focus on enjoying your home.

Interlock Metal Roofing systems excel in winter weather. The smooth surface allows snow to slide off more easily than textured roofing materials. The aluminum material and interlocking design also prevent ice dam formation, a common problem with traditional roofs in New England that can cause significant damage and leaks.

Interlock Metal Roofing offers a wide range of colors and styles to suit any Bradford home’s architecture. Whether you prefer the look of traditional shingles, slate, or shake, a metal roofing profile will enhance your home’s appearance while providing superior protection. The color options are designed to maintain their appearance without fading, even with exposure to salt air and intense sunlight, giving you exciting aesthetic possibilities.

Interlock Metal Roofing comes with a comprehensive lifetime limited warranty that provides peace of mind. It protects against manufacturing defects, material failure, and even weather-related damages. This warranty is significantly more extensive than those offered for traditional roofing materials. It can be transferred to new homeowners if you sell your Bradford property, adding substantial value to your investment.

Finally we do not have to worry about the roof any more

5/5

We just had the completion of our new roof. We are happy at how professional the job looks, and how the Interlock material gives the house a different look.

It’s a very good looking rich roof, we love the way the aluminum pieces interlock each other and make the house look so different than the other roofs. Many of the neighbors have stopped to look at the roof all are impressed how good and nice it looks.

The workers were professional, hard workers and fast, and they cleaned up every night. We are very happy and pleased with the decision we made. Finally we do not have to worry about the roof any more.

And, no, we don't hear "pitter patter" when it rains!

5/5

Addressed to: Popular Mechanics

I have read your recent issue which included a section about roofing materials. I was surprised your excellent publication did not include information about aluminum metal roofs in that section. We recently had one installed and are quite pleased with the appearance. Our roof was installed by Interlock Industries, based in Vancouver. Their shingles come in many colors and somewhat resemble the look of an asphalt shingle roof.

However, unlike asphalt shingle and other roofing types, our roof has a lifetime, non-prorated, fully transferable factory warranty. It is fireproof, rot proof, energy efficient and can withstand winds in excess of 100mph.
The cost per square foot is more expensive than asphalt shingle but not much more expensive than a 30 year warranted asphalt roof.

Much has been written concerning the rapid deterioration of today’s asphalt roofs and I would suspect your readers would be interested in learning more. And, no, we don’t hear “pitter patter” when it rains!
