Why choose an Interlock® lifetime roof?

Interlock® roofing systems are built to last — strong, lightweight, environmentally friendly and solar compatible. For most homeowners, an Interlock roof is the last roof they will ever need.

  • Performance & durability — tested to withstand severe weather and naturally resistant to fire.
  • Energy efficient — lowers inside temperatures and cooling costs (per Cool Roof Rating Council and Oak Ridge National Laboratory testing).
  • Lifetime limited warranty — one-time transferable (50-year coverage on transfer).
  • Environmentally conscious — solar compatible, made with recyclable aluminum, helping end the landfill cycle of failed roofing.

Brochure — frequently asked questions

What is Interlock metal roofing, and what styles does it come in?

Interlock is a premium aluminum metal roofing system engineered and tested to last a lifetime — the basis of its "Never Re-Roof Again.®" promise. It comes in five architectural profiles — Slate, Cedar Shingle, Cedar Shake, Mediterranean Tile and Standing Seam — plus solid copper, each finished with the low-gloss Alunar® Coating System, giving the look of slate, cedar or tile without the weight, maintenance or limited lifespan.

How long does an Interlock metal roof last?

Interlock aluminum roofing is engineered to last a lifetime — for most homeowners it is the last roof they will ever install. Asphalt shingles typically last only 15–25 years, so a homeowner often replaces asphalt two to four times over the life of a single Interlock roof. Aluminum does not rot, rust, crack or burn, and the Alunar® finish resists fading.

How much does a metal roof cost, and is it worth it?

A premium aluminum roof costs more upfront than asphalt but is designed to pay for itself by eliminating repeated tear-offs, lowering energy bills, and often reducing insurance premiums. Because asphalt must be replaced every 15–25 years, the lifetime cost of one Interlock roof is frequently lower than several asphalt roofs. Request a free quote for figures specific to your home.

How does Interlock compare to asphalt shingles?

Asphalt is inexpensive upfront but degrades under UV, thermal cycling and storms, usually needing replacement within 15–25 years. Interlock’s interlocking aluminum panels won’t crack, curl, rot or shed granules, hold a UL 2218 Class 4 (highest) impact rating, and are backed by a transferable lifetime limited warranty — with slate, shake, tile or standing-seam styling asphalt can only imitate.

Is the warranty transferable if I sell my home?

Yes — Interlock’s Guardian lifetime limited material warranty is one-time transferable to the next homeowner, with 50-year coverage extended on transfer. A transferable lifetime roof is a documented selling feature that can strengthen resale value. Full terms are in the Guardian Warranty document.

Is a metal roof energy efficient, and can it lower my bills?

Yes — Interlock roofs are Cool Roof rated (verified under the CRRC program and ORNL testing), reflecting solar heat to reduce attic temperatures and cooling demand. Reflective colors may qualify for ENERGY STAR or local energy-code credits; specific solar-reflectance and emittance values are published in Interlock’s reflectance data sheet.

Can I add solar panels to an Interlock roof?

Yes — Interlock is engineered as a practical platform for solar. Because the roof itself lasts a lifetime, you avoid removing and reinstalling a solar array to replace a failing asphalt roof beneath it, making lifetime aluminum roofing a natural long-term pairing with a solar investment.

Are metal roofs noisy in the rain, or do they attract lightning?

No to both myths. Installed over solid sheathing and synthetic underlayment as Interlock specifies, an aluminum roof is no louder in rain than asphalt. Metal roofing does not attract lightning, and because aluminum is non-combustible, a metal roof is a safer surface than wood or asphalt in the rare event of a strike or nearby fire.
