Interlock Roofing Metal Roof Review — Westfield, NC (Installed 2021)

Westfield, NC

TL;DR: Westfield Review Summary

Roofing installation in Westfield, North Carolina. Homeowner contracted Interlock Roofing in late December for a new interlocking roof; materials arrived in about two weeks and the crew stripped the front and installed roughly one-quarter on day one with very little yard refuse. Despite nearly running out of gas and missing lunch on day one, the crew remained professional, completed the front and rear, weatherproofed the underlayment before rain with no leaks, the finished roof looks great with excellent craftsmanship, and the homeowner recommends Interlock for a long-lasting roof.
Michael M.

We contracted in late December for Interlock Roofing to install a new Interlocking Roof. Once we finalized the deal it took about 2 weeks to have the materials delivered and work to begin. On the first day of the project, the front of the house was stripped of the old roof material and about 1/4 of the new roof installed. We were impressed that there was very little refuse in the yard and the amount of work that was accomplished on the first day. Of course, everything can’t go right with any project, in conversing with the crew chief I did not mention that we live about 14 miles from everywhere. Also, the salesman did not inform him either.

We were unable to be here for the first day and when we did speak with the crew chief, he said that they nearly ran out of gas and did not have lunch the first day. We felt really bad about that but that set back did not affect the professionalism or diligence of the crew.

On the second day, they completed the installation of the front roof, removed the old roof on the rear and prepared the bare underlayment to weather the rain due the next day. We weathered the storm with no leaks.

Thursday brought the sun and our new roof. It looks great and the craftsmanship is excellent.

I would recommend the Interlock roof for anyone that is looking for a roof that will last a lifetime.

Top 10 Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Westfield

Homeowners researching metal roofing in Westfield often have several important questions before replacing their roof. Many people want to understand how metal roofing compares to traditional materials like asphalt shingles in terms of lifespan, durability, cost, and long-term value. Roofing decisions can also be influenced by local weather conditions. Homes in Westfield may experience environmental factors such as rain, wind, snow, heat, fire, or seasonal storms that can impact roof performance over time. The following frequently asked questions help explain what homeowners should know when evaluating metal roofing and why many people choose durable roofing systems designed for long-term protection.

In Westfield, NC, a well-installed metal roof commonly lasts 50–75+ years, while asphalt shingles typically last 15–30 years. Westfield has a humid subtropical climate—hot, humid summers, mild winters, and roughly 45–51 inches of annual precipitation—which stresses roofing with heavy summer heat, humidity, and frequent rain. Local factors that affect longevity here are consistent rainfall (promotes moisture-related fade, underlayment wear, and occasional moss in shaded areas) and seasonal freeze–thaw plus occasional light snow (can accelerate minor seam movement). Metal stands up better to wet, humid summers, UV exposure, and freeze–thaw cycling, and resists rot and wind/hail damage that shorten asphalt life. That’s why homeowners in this area often choose durable metal systems for lower long-term maintenance and longer service life. Interlock Metal Roofing uses heavy-gauge aluminum and carries a lifetime limited 50-year transferable warranty for long-term protection.
A metal roof in Westfield will typically cost more up front than asphalt shingles, but exact pricing varies widely by roof size, slope, complexity (hips, valleys), tear-off, flashing, skylights, attic ventilation, and local labor rates. Westfield’s humid summers, regular rainfall, and occasional strong storms/wind can accelerate wear on lower-grade materials, making metal’s durability more valuable locally. Local construction factors (access, code requirements, roof pitch, and contractor availability) also influence installed cost. Many homeowners compare lifetime value — higher initial cost for metal often means fewer repairs, lower maintenance, and longer replacement intervals, reducing long‑term expense. Durable metal systems can cut future repair/replacement costs versus cheaper options. Interlock Metal Roofing focuses on long‑term ownership value and system durability rather than competing solely on being the lowest‑price option.
Westfield’s climate is humid subtropical: warm, humid summers with strong sun and about 48 in. of annual rainfall, and mild winters with occasional freezes—conditions that promote algae/moss on shaded roofs and add UV/heat stress to roofing materials. Metal vs. asphalt: metal roofs typically last 40–70+ years versus 15–30 years for asphalt shingles. Metal needs less routine repair (resists rot, moss, and UV degradation) while shingles require more frequent inspection, granule replacement, and eventual reroofing. Durability: metal better handles heavy rain, wind and UV; shingles are more vulnerable to heat cycling and algae growth in humid conditions. Long-term value: higher upfront cost for metal often pays off via longer service life and lower maintenance. Homeowners prioritizing durability and long-term protection in Westfield’s humid, sun-intense climate often choose metal. Interlock Metal Roofing systems appeal for lasting performance and strong architectural curb appeal.
Many people in Westfield, NC, worry that metal roofs are noisy in rain, but this is a common myth. Modern residential metal roofs installed over solid roof decking don’t sound like thin barn panels. Sound levels depend on the roof assembly: insulation, attic volume, underlayment, and roof deck all dampen rain noise. Proper fastening, flashings, and installation techniques also reduce vibration and noise—poorly installed systems are more likely to ring. When installed as intended, residential metal roofs typically sound similar to asphalt shingle or tile roofs during rain. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are supplied and installed as complete residential roofing systems engineered to meet those performance and acoustic expectations.
In Westfield, NC, a metal roof can be energy-efficient because metal roofing often reflects sunlight, reducing summer heat gain. Actual savings depend on the full roof assembly: underlayment, insulation levels, and attic ventilation strongly influence heat flow and moisture control. Climate matters too — North Carolina’s hot, humid summers make reflective metal roofs more helpful for cooling savings, while effective insulation is key during cooler periods. Homeowners researching roof replacement often consider energy efficiency to lower utility bills, improve indoor comfort, extend roof life, and increase resale appeal. When evaluating options, look at reflectivity, thermal emittance, and the whole-roof construction rather than just the surface. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are designed to support long-term home performance.
Westfield, NC experiences frequent thunderstorms, seasonal heavy rain, occasional hail, and gusty straight-line winds; tropical systems can bring high winds and heavy rain during hurricane season. Metal roofing performs well in wind (interlocking panels resist uplift), heavy rain (sheds water efficiently), and many hail events (impact ratings and thicker gauges reduce damage), but outcomes depend on system design, installation quality, and material durability. Proper fastening, underlayment, panel profile and edge details—installed to local code and rated wind/impact standards—control uplift and leak risk. Thicker gauges and impact‑rated finishes improve hail resistance and reduce cosmetic damage. Homeowners consider weather resilience to limit leaks, repairs, insurance claims, and to protect property value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered for durability, hail protection, and wind resistance.
Corrosion and rust resistance in metal roofing depend largely on the metal type and protective finishes. Steel, zinc, copper and aluminum perform differently; some metals and coatings resist corrosion far better. Aluminum, for example, naturally forms a protective oxide layer and performs especially well in wet or coastal environments where salt and moisture accelerate corrosion. Homeowners should prioritize corrosion resistance because it affects roof longevity, maintenance costs, and the risk of leaks or structural damage. Choosing a corrosion-resistant system reduces long-term repair and replacement expenses. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use aluminum construction designed for strong corrosion resistance and are protected by the Alunar Coating System for extra protection, offering enhanced durability in challenging climates such as Westfield, NC.
Metal roofing in Westfield, North Carolina, is generally considered a durable, low-maintenance choice. However, no roof is completely maintenance-free. Homeowners should perform periodic inspections—after major storms and seasonally—to look for loose fasteners, damaged panels, worn sealant, and compromised flashing. Remove debris from the roof surface and valleys, and keep gutters clear to prevent standing water and corrosion. Check roof penetrations (vents, chimneys, skylights) and seals for leaks. Wind, hail, falling limbs, pine needles, and ice can affect performance and may require prompt attention. With routine checks and simple upkeep, metal roofs provide long service life and reliable protection in North Carolina’s climate.
In Westfield, NC, metal roofing often increases perceived home value because buyers prioritize durable, low‑maintenance roofs that reduce future repair costs. Premium roofing materials also boost curb appeal, helping a property stand out in local markets. The long lifespan of metal roofing improves buyer confidence in the roof’s remaining service life, which can translate to higher offers. Architectural style matters—matching the roof profile to neighborhood character and the home’s design is important. Interlock Metal Roofing systems offer multiple architectural profiles—slate, cedar shingle, Mediterranean tile, shake, and standing seam—available in heavy-gauge aluminum and solid copper, allowing homeowners to combine longevity with appropriate style for Westfield neighborhoods. Consult local appraisers or real estate agents for Westfield-specific impacts.
Westfield sits in inland Surry County with humid, warm summers and variable winters—moderate year‑round rain and occasional hail/wind events and freeze–thaw cycles that affect roofs. Yes—Interlock Metal Roofing Systems are compatible with solar when paired with custom solar brackets installed by Metal Roof NC. Because solar panels outlast many roof coverings, roof lifespan is critical before mounting panels; homeowners should plan for solar when reroofing to avoid panel removal later. Long‑lasting materials (like Interlock metal) are often preferred for solar because they reduce future work. Interlock systems are specifically solar‑compatible and engineered to support approved solar mounting solutions, making them a strong choice compared with shorter‑lived roofing in this local climate.

I’ve had my interlock roof for 14 yrs and have had no issues with it until this last winter. We had heavier than normal snow and a lot of freeze thaw conditions. Several of the snow deflectors were pushed forward and lifted some of the roof. I emailed Dave and Tyler and repairs were made quickly . You can’t tell there was any concerns at all.

Metal Shingle Roof Review in Sudbury, ON (Interlock - Installed 2017)

Review: April 25, 2026

Completion: June 7, 2018

We had our roof replaced in 2017 with an aluminum roof by Interlock Metal Roofing. We live on the lake, and prior to the replacement, we were spending thousands of dollars every year because shingles would fly off in the wind.

We haven’t had any issues in the past 7 years. Our experience with Interlock Metal Roofing was excellent — they were very professional and did a beautiful job, even though our roof is quite high and challenging.

Our roof still looks beautiful, and we haven’t had to worry about it at all in the past 9 years.

I love my Interlock roof! No more climbing up to clean it, and no more gritty debris falling into my garden after a few years. It looks fantastic and performs exactly as it should.

The installers were excellent—knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and personable. Ivan is a gem! He handled a small flashing addition efficiently and cleaned the entire roof with a blower in no time.

After almost ten years, it’s still the only roof I would choose.

Interlock Metal Roof Review - Ramara, ON (Installed 2019)

Completion: April 23, 2026

We are so happy with our interlock roof from Bruce. We had shopped around because we live on the lake with strong winds and we wanted a quality, long lasting product. Our roof has never changed colour and looks just as good now as the day it was installed. We also love the lifetime transferable warranty. We also love that it is made in Canada so there are no tariffs. Bruce was our sales person. He came right away, explained everything to us. We made the right decision not choosing shingles because of the environment and quality of the product. This was an affordable investment that was worth it. The crew was professional in every aspect. If I move, I will definitely be contacting Bruce again for another interlock roof.

Portland, OR Metal Shingles Review — Safety Anchors Installed 2019

Review: April 20, 2026

Completion: June 20, 2019

We’ve had our roof for about 7 years and have been very pleased with it. Recently, I scheduled gutter cleaning which was complicated by a run of wet weather which makes the roof very slippery. The gutter contractor asked if we had ever considered installing safety anchors. I didn’t know there was such a thing. I called Interlock and Ivan came by to take a look. He quickly determined appropriate locations for the anchors that the gutter cleaners could clip their safety harnesses to and showed me an example of the anchor itself. He also offered to paint them black to make them more inconspicuous on our dark roof. He returned about a week later for the install and afterwards showed us pictures of the anchors from the roof and pointed them out from the ground. Overall very professional, prompt, excellent service.

Interlock Metal Shingle Roof Review in Bay View, WI (Installed 2009)

Review: April 16, 2026

Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Interlock Metal Roofing Review in Saint Paul, AB — 50-Year Warranty (Installed 2025)

Review: April 15, 2026

Completion: August 31, 2025

We recently installed a new Interlock Roofing System, and we couldn’t be happier with the decision. Knowing it’s backed by a limited lifetime, non-prorated, fully transferable 50-year warranty gives us real peace of mind—it truly feels like a smart long-term investment. Mr. Yorman and his crew were outstanding from start to finish. Their commitment to customer service is second to none. They showed up exactly when they said they would and worked diligently until the job was completed. The finished product looks fantastic, and the cleanup was so thorough that our property actually looked better than before they arrived. A special mention to Tyler, who did an excellent job walking us through the benefits and helping us feel confident in choosing this system. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended!

I recently had my 25 year old asphalt roof replaced with an Interlock Metal roof. I'm so very happy with my decision. In fact, best decision ever to have Interlock Industries install. The metal roof is manufactured in Delta, BC and they have their own installers. It's not panels! It looks very much like a cedar roof! Colour is awesome as well! My home is located in Victoria on Vancouver Island and looks great with my new roof! Interlock is a very professional business from contract signing to installation. Amazing crew that gets the job done in a timely manner. My roof looks fabulous. It's a work of art!!

Aurora, ON Metal Roofing Review — Interlock Installation (2016)

Review: April 13, 2026

Completion: May 3, 2016

We moved into our new house in 1984. Our new house came with new 25 year shingles. In 2004, 20 years later we noticed that our roof shingles needed to be redone. Now, back in 1984 they used asbestos in the roof shingles and although at the time they said they were 25 year shingles, we were still happy to get 20 years out of them. So, in 2004 we got a quote and had the roof re-shingled. We paid extra for the 25 year shingles as we had such a good result with the original shingles. In 2016 (i.e. 12 years later) my neighbour told us that our shingles on the south side of the house were cracked with rolled up edges and needed to be replaced. (We can't see the south roof of our house unless we are visiting the neighbours.) The shingles on the north side were still ok, but since you can't really shingle half a roof we knew that we had to have the whole roof done...after just 12 years. We were a little upset about this and decided to go to the National Home Show in Toronto to look at alternatives. We met Tom Watson at the Interlock Metal Roofing booth and he took a lot of time and explained the complete roofing system to us. We liked what we saw and what was explained to us and we arranged to have a home visit from Interlock and to give us a quote. The metal roof was certainly a lot more expensive than a regular asphalt shingle roof, but we decided to get the metal roof anyways because we did not want the hassle of having to re-shingle every 10 or 11 years...and there are also some other unforeseen benefits detailed below that we did not know about at the time. The metal roof comes with a Lifetime Limited Warranty, 50 year transferable, not prorated so even though more expensive it adds value to lyour home because if in the future you are looking to sell, the buyer knows he won't have any roof problems for the 50 year life of the roof. Your roof becomes an asset instead of a liability. The installation happened over 4-5 days. I paid a lot of attention to what they were doing and how they were doing it. The roof vents were removed. These are the same roof vents that raccoons like to rip off for access to your attic, so that potential problem went away. A ridge vent (google it) was installed on the top of the roof and it is low profile and fits in so you would not know that it is there. Raccoons have been known to chew a hole in asphalt shingles and roofing plywood to get into your attic. With a metal roof, it isn't happening. That mode of access is eliminated. Now, with our previous asphalt shingles we had constant problems with raccoons pooping on our roof (sound familiar?) and for some reason, at least for the last 10 years that we have had the metal roof, that has not happened. I don't know why, but I can speculate that the raccoons find the metal roof very slippery and they are not comfortable being up there and doing their business while trying not to slide off the roof. Also, in the past we have had squirrels occasionally make their way through, under, beside our asphalt shingles and get into our attic. That will never happen with a metal roof because the whole roof is sealed and northing is getting that way. If you are concerned about high winds ripping off your shingles you don't have to worry with a metal roof. Each and every metal shingle is fastened to the roof with aluminum screws (note the metal roof shingles are painted and baked to a tough finish) and they are interlocked with each other, so you may lose your entire roof in a hurricane, but the metal shingles will still be attached to it. We moved into our new house in 1984. After about 2 years of sweating through humid summers, we installed an A/C system. Our new A/C system worked ok in that it removed the humidity and cooled the house, but with the high 37 deg C temperatures it was struggling. The A/C would run continuously and never stopped on those hot days, but once the metal roof was installed it cycled on and off as designed. We highly recommend Interlock Metal Roofing.

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!
