Orland Park, IL

TL;DR: Orland Park Review Summary

Roofing installation in Orland Park: the homeowner had a new Interlock Roofing system installed after concerns about shingle loss from frequent high winds and ice dams experienced last winter. They report the roof looks clean and elegant and praise the interlocking design and features—resistance to wind, prevention of ice dams, non‑curling shingles, fireproofing, reflective properties, and a lifetime guarantee. Installer Eric was professional and skilled, though materials sat four weeks before work began and installation took four weeks and was delayed by wind and rain; the homeowner recommends the product for improving home appearance and value but cautions about lengthy installation and inaccurate scheduling.

Now that our new Interlock Roofing system has been installed, we find the look to be extraordinary! It boasts sophistication and looks clean and elegant. This product is impressive not only by its looks but also by its clever and unique interlocking design. Almost more important than the attractive look of our new roof is the peace of mind we have gained with its many features. It’s a relief not to have to be concerned about losing shingles as a result of the high winds we experience regularly in our area. Also, having experienced ice dams this past winter, it is reassuring to know that they cannot occur with the design of this product. We are impressed with its many features. In addition to the two already mentioned, the inability of the shingles to curl, being fireproof, and the reflective properties are features that caught our attention. Knowing the product is guaranteed to last a lifetime and never have to re-roof is an added bonus. The installation of our new roof began four weeks after the materials had been delivered, and then took another four full weeks to complete the actual installation process. Although hampered by a couple of days of strong winds and a couple more of rain, Eric, our installer did an awesome job of handling our installation. He was very professional and personable at all times and was willing to answer and explain our questions. Eric is obviously very skilled at his profession and pays attention to detail, which contributed greatly to the outcome of our new roof. We would recommend this roofing system to anyone wanting to improve the look and value of their home, but would also caution him about the lengthy installation process and the inaccurate scheduling information we received. We believe this to be an outstanding product despite these problems.

Top 10 Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Orland Park

Homeowners researching metal roofing in Orland Park often have several important questions before replacing their roof. Many people want to understand how metal roofing compares to traditional materials like asphalt shingles in terms of lifespan, durability, cost, and long-term value. Roofing decisions can also be influenced by local weather conditions. Homes in Orland Park may experience environmental factors such as rain, wind, snow, heat, fire, or seasonal storms that can impact roof performance over time. The following frequently asked questions help explain what homeowners should know when evaluating metal roofing and why many people choose durable roofing systems designed for long-term protection.

How long will a metal roof last in Orland Park, IL?

Metal roofs commonly last at least 50–75+ years, while asphalt shingles typically last 15–30 years depending on quality and installation. In Orland Park summers are warm, humid and wet and winters are cold, snowy and windy, producing regular freeze–thaw cycles and measurable snowfall and precipitation that stress roofing materials. Those local factors — winter snow loads and repeated freeze–thaw plus occasional hail and severe storms — make metal a strong choice because it sheds snow, resists splitting from freeze cycles, and tolerates hail and UV exposure better than asphalt. Homeowners choose durable systems to reduce maintenance, avoid premature replacement, and improve storm resilience and energy performance. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use heavy‑gauge aluminum and include a lifetime limited 50‑year transferable warranty designed for long‑term protection.

How much does it cost to install a metal roof in Orland Park, IL?

Metal roofs in Orland Park generally cost more upfront than asphalt shingles, often significantly so depending on the material and finish. Total price depends on roof size, slope and complexity, tear-off and disposal, flashing and trim, number of skylights/penetrations, and local labor rates. Local climate—cold, snowy winters with freeze–thaw cycles and humid, storm-prone summers—raises the value of a durable metal system that resists ice, snow loads, and storm damage, while annual precipitation and occasional hail can drive choice of gauge and finish for impact resistance and corrosion protection. Many homeowners compare options by lifetime value—durable metal can reduce future repair and replacement costs. Interlock Metal Roofing emphasizes long-term ownership value rather than competing as a low-cost option.

Should I choose metal roofing or asphalt shingles for my Orland Park home?

Metal roofing can be worth it in Orland Park if you value long-term durability over lower upfront cost. Orland Park has warm, humid summers and freezing, snowy, windy winters, with roughly 30 in. of snow some years—so freeze‑thaw cycles, snow load and occasional hail/wind storms matter for roof choice. - Lifespan: Metal typically lasts 40–70+ years; asphalt shingles ~15–30 years. - Maintenance: Metal is lower‑maintenance (less rot/ice‑dam damage); shingles need periodic replacement and more storm repairs. - Durability: Metal resists hail, wind and freeze‑thaw better; asphalt is more prone to granule loss and blow‑offs. - Long‑term value: Higher upfront cost for metal but lower lifecycle costs if you stay long term. Homeowners prioritizing durability and long‑term protection often choose metal. Interlock Metal Roofing systems appeal for their long service life, weather resistance and strong architectural curb appeal.

Are metal roofs noisy when it rains in Orland Park?

This is a common myth: modern residential metal roofs are not noisy barns. When installed over solid decking with proper underlayment, insulation and an attic space, metal roofing sounds very similar to asphalt or tile—rain noise is largely controlled by the roof assembly. Insulation, underlayment, roof deck, and ventilation affect sound transmission, and a high-quality installation with secure fastening and proper spacing is important. Poor installation or lightweight temporary panels can increase noise, but properly installed residential metal roofs typically produce sound levels comparable to other common roofing materials. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are installed as complete roofing systems specifically engineered for residential homes.

How energy-efficient are metal roofs in Orland Park?

Yes — in Orland Park, IL a metal roof can be energy efficient. Metal roofing can reflect sunlight, reducing heat gain during hot summer days. However, overall energy performance depends on the full roof assembly—underlayment, insulation levels and continuous air barriers—and on attic ventilation, which together control heat flow and moisture. In Orland Park’s climate, reflective coatings help cooling loads in summer while proper insulation and airtight details preserve heat in cold winters, so benefits vary by design. Homeowners researching roof replacement often weigh energy efficiency to lower utility bills, improve year‑round comfort, qualify for incentives, and increase resale value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are designed to support long-term home performance.

How does metal roofing in Orland Park, IL withstand wind, hail, and severe weather?

Orland Park, IL sees frequent severe‑storm activity — including repeated hail reports and hundreds of recorded wind events — so roof resilience matters for local homeowners. Metal roofing performs well in severe weather when the system is properly designed and installed: interlocking panels resist wind uplift, coated steel or aluminum shed driving rain, and thicker gauges or engineered profiles reduce hail damage (very large stones can dent but rarely cause structural failure). Performance depends on roofing system design, installation quality, and material durability — all affect wind ratings, impact resistance, and warranty outcomes. Homeowners weigh weather resilience to protect structure, limit repair costs, and reduce insurance risk. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered for durability, hail protection, and wind resistance, but final performance still depends on correct product selection and professional installation.

Will a metal roof rust or corrode in Orland Park's wet climate?

Corrosion and rust resistance are important for metal roofing in Orland Park, IL. Metal roofing performance depends on the type of metal—steel, copper, and aluminum age and resist corrosion differently. Some materials (e.g., aluminum and stainless steel) are inherently more corrosion-resistant, while untreated steel can rust without protective coatings. Aluminum performs particularly well in wet or coastal environments because it forms a stable oxide layer that slows corrosion. Homeowners should consider corrosion resistance to ensure long-term durability, lower maintenance, preserve appearance, and protect structural integrity and resale value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use aluminum construction designed for strong corrosion resistance and are protected by the Alunar Coating System for extra protection.

How often should I inspect and maintain my metal roof in Orland Park?

Metal roofing in Orland Park, Illinois is generally considered a low maintenance, durable option. No roof is completely maintenance‑free, so homeowners should inspect roofs periodically—especially after storms or during seasonal leaf drop. Check for debris on panels and in valleys, keep gutters clear, and inspect flashing, sealants, fasteners, and roof penetrations (vents, chimneys, skylights) for corrosion, gaps, or damage. Remove branches and accumulated leaves promptly. Weather events like high winds, hail, ice, and seasonal debris can increase wear or cause localized damage that needs repair. With proper periodic checks and minor upkeep, metal roofs offer long life and lower ongoing maintenance than many other materials.

How does curb appeal affect my home's resale value in Orland Park?

In Orland Park, IL, metal roofing can increase home value because buyers often prioritize durable, low‑maintenance roofs that lower future repair costs. Premium materials also boost curb appeal—especially on well-kept streets—helping homes stand out to local buyers. A long lifespan improves buyer confidence and can justify a higher asking price or quicker sale. Architectural style matters: metal that mimics regional styles or fits neighborhood character performs best. Interlock Metal Roofing systems offer multiple architectural profiles—slate, cedar shingle, Mediterranean tile, shake, and standing seam—available in heavy‑gauge aluminum and solid copper, so you can choose a look that complements your home and Orland Park’s neighborhoods while delivering lasting performance. Consider local resale trends and HOA guidelines when selecting styles.

Can I install solar panels on my Interlock Metal Roofing System in Orland Park?

Yes—Interlock Metal Roofing Systems are compatible with solar panels when fitted with custom solar brackets installed by Interlock Metal Roofing - Midwest. In Orland Park, cold snowy winters and frequent freeze–thaw cycles (about 30 in. annual snowfall) can stress attachments and flashing, so consider a long‑lasting roof before mounting arrays. Roof lifespan matters—durable materials reduce future panel removal/reinstallation costs. Ask your installer about sealed flashings and corrosion‑resistant fasteners. When comparing materials locally, favor long‑lasting systems: Interlock’s roofs are solar‑compatible and engineered to support mounting solutions, and you should plan for solar at roof replacement to avoid extra labor and expense.
