Roselle, IL Metal Roofing Review — Interlock Installation 2018

Roselle, IL

TL;DR: Roselle Review Summary

Roofing installation in Roselle: homeowners chose Interlock after admiring a neighbor’s roof and worked with John, who provided knowledgeable options. Initially hesitant about the higher cost and potential metal-roof noise, they found the installation easy, crews courteous, and after one year report zero issues, saying the roof looks beautiful, noise is no different, and the higher price was worth it for a long-lasting, quality roof.
Thanks S.

Dear John,

Thanks for doing such a great job on our roof! We initially found out about Interlock from looking at a neighbors roof and seeing how nice it looked. We were in the market for a roof, so we asked for a referral and then contacted Interlock. John was very knowledgeable and offered some great options.

We were a bit hesitant at first for two main reasons. First, we got a little sticker shock because the price was so much higher than an average roof, and Second, because we were scared the roof would be noisy when it was raining since it was metal. For one, the price value is worth it in the end. You know you received a quality roof that will be the last roof you’ll buy on that property. Comparing it to others that you’ll almost always replace in 7-10 years, this one is worth it. It also looks much more beautiful, and as far as the noise, there really is no difference. We’re happy with how the roof looks, the installation was easy, all crew members were courteous, and there have been zero issues with the roof. We already had it for a year when writing this testimonial, and we are still happy with our decision.

Top 10 Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Roselle

Homeowners researching metal roofing in Roselle often have several important questions before replacing their roof. Many people want to understand how metal roofing compares to traditional materials like asphalt shingles in terms of lifespan, durability, cost, and long-term value. Roofing decisions can also be influenced by local weather conditions. Homes in Roselle may experience environmental factors such as rain, wind, snow, heat, fire, or seasonal storms that can impact roof performance over time. The following frequently asked questions help explain what homeowners should know when evaluating metal roofing and why many people choose durable roofing systems designed for long-term protection.

Metal roofs in Roselle typically last at least 50–75+ years, while asphalt shingles generally need replacement every 15–30 years depending on quality. Roselle’s climate—about 33 in. of snow annually—creates notable snow loads and repeated freeze–thaw cycles that stress roofing materials. Spring and summer severe storms with large hail and damaging winds are also common, increasing the risk of impact damage to shingles and roof coverings. Metal roofs resist snow weight, freeze–thaw splitting, and hail impact better than asphalt and shed water more effectively, which is why many Roselle homeowners choose durable metal systems for long-term performance and reduced maintenance. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use heavy-gauge aluminum and a lifetime limited 50-year transferable warranty designed for long-term protection.
In Roselle, IL, winters are cold, snowy and prone to freeze–thaw cycles—conditions that raise snow‑load and ice‑dam risk—and the area can also see hail and strong spring storms that affect roof longevity. Metal roofs typically cost more upfront than asphalt shingles, but total price depends on roof size, slope, complexity, tear‑off needs, flashing, skylights, and labor. Local factors (higher snow loads, freeze‑thaw cycles, and hail exposure) can increase material and installation requirements — and therefore cost. Many homeowners compare options by lifetime value rather than initial price; durable metal systems often lower future repair and replacement expenses. Interlock Metal Roofing emphasizes long‑term ownership value and robust performance in Roselle’s climate rather than competing solely as a low‑cost roofing option.
Roselle has warm, wet summers and freezing, snowy winters with regular freeze–thaw cycles—annual precipitation ~39 in.—which stresses roofing materials over time. The area also sees periodic severe storms and hail, increasing impact risk for roof surfaces. Lifespan: metal roofs typically last 40–70+ years; asphalt shingles 15–25 years. Maintenance: metal needs little upkeep; shingles require periodic inspections, replacement of damaged shingles, and re‑coating/tear-off sooner. Durability: metal resists hail, freeze–thaw cracking and wind uplift better; asphalt loses granules, can split in freeze cycles. Long‑term value: higher upfront cost for metal but lower lifecycle replacement/repair costs—often better ROI for homeowners planning to stay long term. Homeowners who prioritize durability and long‑term protection in Roselle often choose metal roofing. Interlock Metal Roofing systems add appeal by locking panels for leak resistance, strong wind performance, long warranties, and architectural curb appeal.
Are metal roofs noisy in Roselle, IL? This is a common myth. Modern residential metal roofs installed over solid decking and proper underlayment do not sound like barn roofs. Rain noise is influenced by the roof assembly—insulation, attic airspace, underlayment, and decking all reduce sound—so a well-insulated home with an air gap will be quieter. Installation quality matters: correct fastening, flashing, and trim prevent vibration and rattling. Properly installed residential metal roofing is typically similar in sound to asphalt shingle or tile. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are installed as complete roofing systems designed for residential homes, combining decking, underlayment, and attachment methods to minimize noise and improve long-term performance.
Yes—In Roselle, IL, a metal roof can be energy efficient because metal roofing can reflect sunlight, reducing heat gain in summer. Actual performance depends on the full roof assembly: underlayment, insulation levels, and ventilation influence energy performance as much as the outer material. Roselle’s hot, humid summers and cold winters mean benefits vary by season; reflective coatings help cooling, while proper insulation and ventilation limit heat loss in winter. Homeowners researching roof replacement often consider energy efficiency to lower utility bills, improve year‑round comfort, reduce HVAC wear, qualify for incentives, and increase resale value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are designed to support long‑term home performance, combining durable materials with installation features that promote efficient roofs.
Roselle, IL faces frequent severe thunderstorms with hail and strong winds—hail reports and repeated severe‑weather warnings are common in the area. Wind and tornado risk is present though moderate; winter snow and ice also stress roofs. Metal roofing can perform well in these conditions: properly engineered interlocking panels resist wind uplift, shed snow and rain, and often withstand hail better than many shingles. Performance depends on roofing system design (profile, underlayment, fastening), installation quality (fastening patterns and installer certification), and material durability/impact rating and coating. Proper choices affect warranty coverage and insurance outcomes. Homeowners prioritize weather resilience to reduce leaks, curb damage, maintenance and insurance claims, and to extend roof life. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered for durability, hail protection, and high wind resistance.
Metal roofing corrosion and rust resistance depend largely on the metal type and coatings used. Steel, copper, and aluminum perform differently: some steels can rust without protective coatings, while aluminum and copper are inherently more corrosion-resistant. Aluminum performs especially well in wet or coastal environments because it forms a protective oxide layer that prevents further deterioration. Homeowners in Roselle, IL should weigh corrosion resistance when selecting roofing to ensure longevity, lower maintenance, sustained appearance, and to protect their investment against moisture, road salt, and seasonal freeze–thaw cycles. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use aluminum construction engineered for strong corrosion resistance and are finished with the Alunar Coating System for extra protection, providing added durability and long-term aesthetic performance.
Metal roofing in Roselle, Illinois is generally low-maintenance and highly durable. However, no roof is completely maintenance-free—periodic inspections are recommended, especially after storms or heavy seasonal leaf drop. Homeowners should check for debris accumulation, clear and inspect gutters, and examine flashing, seams, and roof penetrations (vents, chimneys, skylights) for loose fasteners, sealant gaps, or corrosion. Ice, wind-driven rain, and winter salt can affect fasteners and finishes over time. Promptly remove branches and organic material to prevent moisture retention and scratching. With routine checks and minor upkeep, metal roofs provide long service life and strong protection in Roselle’s climate, making them a practical, low-maintenance choice for local homes.
In Roselle, IL, a metal roof can boost home value. Buyers in the area often prioritize durable, low‑maintenance roofs that reduce long‑term costs. Premium roofing materials improve curb appeal, helping a property stand out in local markets, and a long lifespan—often decades for metal—raises buyer confidence in fewer repairs or replacements. Architectural style still matters: roof profile should suit the neighborhood and home design, and in Roselle’s established neighborhoods matching historic or contemporary styles often influences resale and streetscape harmony. Interlock Metal Roofing systems offer multiple architectural profiles—including slate, cedar shingle, Mediterranean tile, shake, and standing seam—available in heavy‑gauge aluminum and solid copper, letting you match aesthetics while delivering durability and low maintenance. Consult local appraisers or real estate agents for specific value estimates in your neighborhood.
Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing Systems in Roselle are compatible with solar panels when fitted with custom solar brackets installed by Interlock Metal Roofing – Midwest. Roselle averages about 33 inches of snow and regular freeze–thaw cycles that can stress roof assemblies, so roof lifespan is especially important before adding panels. Choose long‑lasting roofing materials so you won’t have to remove panels for a near‑term re‑roof; homeowners should factor future solar plans when replacing a roof. Interlock systems are designed to support solar mounting solutions—discuss bracket engineering, load capacity, and maintenance access with your contractor when comparing roof types.

I’ve had my interlock roof for 14 yrs and have had no issues with it until this last winter. We had heavier than normal snow and a lot of freeze thaw conditions. Several of the snow deflectors were pushed forward and lifted some of the roof. I emailed Dave and Tyler and repairs were made quickly . You can’t tell there was any concerns at all.

Metal Shingle Roof Review in Sudbury, ON (Interlock - Installed 2017)

Review: April 25, 2026

Completion: June 7, 2018

We had our roof replaced in 2017 with an aluminum roof by Interlock Metal Roofing. We live on the lake, and prior to the replacement, we were spending thousands of dollars every year because shingles would fly off in the wind.

We haven’t had any issues in the past 7 years. Our experience with Interlock Metal Roofing was excellent — they were very professional and did a beautiful job, even though our roof is quite high and challenging.

Our roof still looks beautiful, and we haven’t had to worry about it at all in the past 9 years.

I love my Interlock roof! No more climbing up to clean it, and no more gritty debris falling into my garden after a few years. It looks fantastic and performs exactly as it should.

The installers were excellent—knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and personable. Ivan is a gem! He handled a small flashing addition efficiently and cleaned the entire roof with a blower in no time.

After almost ten years, it’s still the only roof I would choose.

Interlock Metal Roof Review - Ramara, ON (Installed 2019)

Completion: April 23, 2026

We are so happy with our interlock roof from Bruce. We had shopped around because we live on the lake with strong winds and we wanted a quality, long lasting product. Our roof has never changed colour and looks just as good now as the day it was installed. We also love the lifetime transferable warranty. We also love that it is made in Canada so there are no tariffs. Bruce was our sales person. He came right away, explained everything to us. We made the right decision not choosing shingles because of the environment and quality of the product. This was an affordable investment that was worth it. The crew was professional in every aspect. If I move, I will definitely be contacting Bruce again for another interlock roof.

Portland, OR Metal Shingles Review — Safety Anchors Installed 2019

Review: April 20, 2026

Completion: June 20, 2019

We’ve had our roof for about 7 years and have been very pleased with it. Recently, I scheduled gutter cleaning which was complicated by a run of wet weather which makes the roof very slippery. The gutter contractor asked if we had ever considered installing safety anchors. I didn’t know there was such a thing. I called Interlock and Ivan came by to take a look. He quickly determined appropriate locations for the anchors that the gutter cleaners could clip their safety harnesses to and showed me an example of the anchor itself. He also offered to paint them black to make them more inconspicuous on our dark roof. He returned about a week later for the install and afterwards showed us pictures of the anchors from the roof and pointed them out from the ground. Overall very professional, prompt, excellent service.

Interlock Metal Shingle Roof Review in Bay View, WI (Installed 2009)

Review: April 16, 2026

Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Interlock Metal Roofing Review in Saint Paul, AB — 50-Year Warranty (Installed 2025)

Review: April 15, 2026

Completion: August 31, 2025

We recently installed a new Interlock Roofing System, and we couldn’t be happier with the decision. Knowing it’s backed by a limited lifetime, non-prorated, fully transferable 50-year warranty gives us real peace of mind—it truly feels like a smart long-term investment. Mr. Yorman and his crew were outstanding from start to finish. Their commitment to customer service is second to none. They showed up exactly when they said they would and worked diligently until the job was completed. The finished product looks fantastic, and the cleanup was so thorough that our property actually looked better than before they arrived. A special mention to Tyler, who did an excellent job walking us through the benefits and helping us feel confident in choosing this system. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended!

I recently had my 25 year old asphalt roof replaced with an Interlock Metal roof. I'm so very happy with my decision. In fact, best decision ever to have Interlock Industries install. The metal roof is manufactured in Delta, BC and they have their own installers. It's not panels! It looks very much like a cedar roof! Colour is awesome as well! My home is located in Victoria on Vancouver Island and looks great with my new roof! Interlock is a very professional business from contract signing to installation. Amazing crew that gets the job done in a timely manner. My roof looks fabulous. It's a work of art!!

Aurora, ON Metal Roofing Review — Interlock Installation (2016)

Review: April 13, 2026

Completion: May 3, 2016

We moved into our new house in 1984. Our new house came with new 25 year shingles. In 2004, 20 years later we noticed that our roof shingles needed to be redone. Now, back in 1984 they used asbestos in the roof shingles and although at the time they said they were 25 year shingles, we were still happy to get 20 years out of them. So, in 2004 we got a quote and had the roof re-shingled. We paid extra for the 25 year shingles as we had such a good result with the original shingles. In 2016 (i.e. 12 years later) my neighbour told us that our shingles on the south side of the house were cracked with rolled up edges and needed to be replaced. (We can't see the south roof of our house unless we are visiting the neighbours.) The shingles on the north side were still ok, but since you can't really shingle half a roof we knew that we had to have the whole roof done...after just 12 years. We were a little upset about this and decided to go to the National Home Show in Toronto to look at alternatives. We met Tom Watson at the Interlock Metal Roofing booth and he took a lot of time and explained the complete roofing system to us. We liked what we saw and what was explained to us and we arranged to have a home visit from Interlock and to give us a quote. The metal roof was certainly a lot more expensive than a regular asphalt shingle roof, but we decided to get the metal roof anyways because we did not want the hassle of having to re-shingle every 10 or 11 years...and there are also some other unforeseen benefits detailed below that we did not know about at the time. The metal roof comes with a Lifetime Limited Warranty, 50 year transferable, not prorated so even though more expensive it adds value to lyour home because if in the future you are looking to sell, the buyer knows he won't have any roof problems for the 50 year life of the roof. Your roof becomes an asset instead of a liability. The installation happened over 4-5 days. I paid a lot of attention to what they were doing and how they were doing it. The roof vents were removed. These are the same roof vents that raccoons like to rip off for access to your attic, so that potential problem went away. A ridge vent (google it) was installed on the top of the roof and it is low profile and fits in so you would not know that it is there. Raccoons have been known to chew a hole in asphalt shingles and roofing plywood to get into your attic. With a metal roof, it isn't happening. That mode of access is eliminated. Now, with our previous asphalt shingles we had constant problems with raccoons pooping on our roof (sound familiar?) and for some reason, at least for the last 10 years that we have had the metal roof, that has not happened. I don't know why, but I can speculate that the raccoons find the metal roof very slippery and they are not comfortable being up there and doing their business while trying not to slide off the roof. Also, in the past we have had squirrels occasionally make their way through, under, beside our asphalt shingles and get into our attic. That will never happen with a metal roof because the whole roof is sealed and northing is getting that way. If you are concerned about high winds ripping off your shingles you don't have to worry with a metal roof. Each and every metal shingle is fastened to the roof with aluminum screws (note the metal roof shingles are painted and baked to a tough finish) and they are interlocked with each other, so you may lose your entire roof in a hurricane, but the metal shingles will still be attached to it. We moved into our new house in 1984. After about 2 years of sweating through humid summers, we installed an A/C system. Our new A/C system worked ok in that it removed the humidity and cooled the house, but with the high 37 deg C temperatures it was struggling. The A/C would run continuously and never stopped on those hot days, but once the metal roof was installed it cycled on and off as designed. We highly recommend Interlock Metal Roofing.

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!
