Metal Shingles Lowry, MN Review 🇺🇸 — May 7, 2019 | Interlock®
Lowry, MN
Listen to the homeowner more carefully. We are not all idiots. Example - we said the semi would not be able to navigate our driveway. It came any way. He got stuck, ran over some of our ash trees, left deep ruts, and had to be pulled out. Some things were not explained in advance. The pimply roof vents that suddenly appeared look awful and are not color matched since they were purchased at Menards.. On site we were told they had to be there (although they were never mentioned previously) and if we wanted them taken off to preserve the period look of our century home, the warranty would be void. We are also disappointed with the dark drip edge. It undesirably changes the look of the fascia. We chose materials carefully to restore the original look of the house. It didn't turn out that way. We wonder if the excessive materials delivered to our site were part of the original contract. Ten extra boxes of shingles were delivered to our site and immediately taken somewhere else. At the end of the project, all remaining drip edge, a box of flashing, several full length strips of valley, five boxes of shingles, and two rolls of underlay were taken back. In the scrap pile, they threw a box of shingles, three quarters of a box of roof cap, and two new roof vents. He also took the the expensive snow and ice breakers with fancy screws and a case of nails claiming the extra materials were not part of the bid when we did not want them put on. On the first day, the project manager was on the property and told the foreman to put on the roof vents and left. He did not discuss it with me. We could have shown him the open attic that will be used as living space so the roof vents are an impediment and will not vent the room. They left two boxes of shingles, one box of valley, one ten foot valley, three flashing strips, and two drip edges in case repairs are needed in the future. Was all the material that was taken to another job part of our $32,000 bill? When we do a project on our own, (like building the carriage house ourselves) we returned extra materials for a refund. However, the roof has efficiently kept out the recent rainstorms.
