Better communication overall, especially by email (so many phone calls these days are crooks and scammers that I tend to ignore the phone). And it would be good to have one person on the job at all times who can communicate clearly in English. That last day nobody could remember where they had left the bird feeder that had been hanging in front, and I wasn't sure I was getting though to them what was missing. We just got lucky that as I was watching them scroll through the photos on their digital camera to look for it, I noticed where it was hanging with my mermaid windsock on the big oak in the front yard.

“I did have some followup questions, which would have been much easier to ask if he had given me an email address.”

Employees Professionalism

Communication

★★★☆☆ Neutral
“Like Jonathan, Jennifer seemed to dislike email communication in favor of the telephone, but my preferences are reverse from that. I didn't even hear one of the voice mails she left until just before the crew was supposed to arrive. The work crew was not as skilled in communicating in English as I was led to believe (mostly "yes" and nodding); only one of the four was able to carry on a full conversation, and he was only here on one of the three days.”

Installation Crew

★★★★★ Strongly agree
“Those guys worked non-stop .... I never saw them take a break for lunch or coffee or a smoke. And they worked later in the day than I would have considered safe for myself (on a roof in the almost-dark). I thought about giving them tips, but a Google search told me that wasn't generally done (and there were only two of them that last day).”

Quality Of Materials

★★★★★ Strongly agree
“So far so good. The illusion of actual slate tiles sort of fades from really close up, but I really like the look from the street. Now I'm getting used to new sounds when the snow and ice slide down the slick shingles.”

Quality Of Workmanship

★★★★★ Strongly agree

Clean & Safe

★★★★ Agree
“It wasn't easy to clean up each day given how dark it was when they finished and how there were leaves everywhere to begin with. Then there was a long gap between the second and third days of work, so the final clean-up waited a while. I did pick up a few bits during that gap, including two nails, with one in the driveway (I just found another a day or two ago, also in the driveway).”

Professional Completion

★★★★★ Strongly agree

Schedule

★★★☆☆ Neutral
“The completion schedule (2-3 days) sort of fell apart when something was needed to complete the last bit (one box of shingles as far as I could tell). That's when the communication got a bit sketchy. I was led to believe that it was coming overnight, but it took a week. Then I got a voice-mail saying they would be here on a Wednesday morning to finish up. I waited around as long as I could, then had to leave for a couple hours. They never showed at all that day. The next day was bad weather. They didn't show again on Friday, but did show up unannounced and unexpected on Saturday morning to finish.”
