The installers were not Interlock employees. I assumed they would be and was surprised to learn that they were "piece mealed". They were independent roofing contractors who install many different roof materials and as a result, there were some mistakes made that needed to be corrected after I brought them to the Installer Manager's attention. They also did not speak English well or at all. At times, I was having conversations with the Supervisor through an iPhone translation app. The cost for the job was outrageous in my opinion but then I did sign the contract agreeing to this as I knew much of the cost was to support the warranty and future trips to the house for repairs if needed. In other words, I was paying for a warranty not the cost and reasonable markup for the job. Having paid that, my expectations were high yet I had to get pro actively involved to make sure the job turned out as expected. So in a nutshell, I would be somewhat hesitant recommending Interlock Roofing because of the price and non-English speaking installers. Get your own English speaking roofing employees. Had no idea at the time we signed the contract that you were merely a materials supplier. Attention to details. Got to demand it to get the job done right.

Sales Punctuality

★★★★★ Strongly agree
“I did not deal with Damon after the initial sales meeting but during that meeting, he did insure me that there would be some kind of bug barrier placed at the bottom of the new vented roof to repel insects such as wasps from building nests. This did not happen and when I brought this to the attention of the Installation Manager and other sales agent after the fact, they were surprised. To their credit, they did honor the promised work and had the installer go back and install the bug shields.”

Sales Knowledge

★★★☆☆ Neutral
“I was told at the sales meeting, and it was included in the quote, to include a "cricket" at the base of the chimney. It's a complicated roof in that area as two different pitched roofs ( 6/12 & 12/12 pitch) come together there and the chimney itself is covered in cultured stone. The sales staff never got on a ladder to look for themselves at what was needed. This lead to some later struggles with the installers where I had to supervise how the job needed to be done to insure fire protection in that location (as fire protection was one of the attributes advertised for the metal roof).”

Employees Professionalism

★★★★★ Strongly agree

Communication

★★★★ Agree
“The property has a gate and a code box to enter. We gave the sales agent the code so that workers could enter the property if we were not home to let them in. We did however request to be notified prior to them coming out. This did not always happen.”

Installation Crew

★★★★★ Strongly agree
“Very friendly and courteous.”

Quality Of Materials

★★★★ Agree
“The slate look shingles we choose were a good match for our home. I wish they would have been a thicker gauged metal. In some areas where there was heavy traffic on the roof by the installers, some of the shingles have pancaked (bent in the middle) out from being stepped on often. In hind sight, I probably should have gone with the shake shingles which were a thicker gauge.”

Quality Of Workmanship

★★★★ Agree
“The area at the base of the chimney was initially left with an exposed large, rubber membrane. The installer supervisor told me this is how it's done. Unfortunately, we live in a wildfire prone area and with blowing embers, they would end up sliding off the metal roof and collect directly on top of that rubber membrane. In other words, this would be a spot for a campfire. The main reason we wanted a metal roof was to enhance fire protection and Interlock's advertising materials stated their roofs were "naturally resistant to fire". Leaving a large exposed piece of rubber on top of the roof negated that claim. After a bit of a struggle, this was corrected and custom made metal sections were made and installed on top of the membrane. Again, requiring my intervention to correct.”

Clean & Safe

★★★★★ Strongly agree
“Cleaned up at the end of each work day. Much appreciated.”

Professional Completion

★★★★ Agree
“With the price paid for this roof, I should not have had to get involved for a second to get where we are now with the roof. To the Installation Manger's credit, he did more than once say everything will be perfect. Minus some bent, stepped on shingles, we got there but only because of my involvement in holding Interlock and the installers accountable.”

Problem Resolution

★★★★★ Strongly agree
“Once I identified issues, the installer supervisor and Installation Manager were good about correcting things to my satisfaction in some cases with some mild arm twisting (holding back final payment).”

Schedule

★★★★ Agree
“Close enough although the completion of the job seemed to be dependent upon the availability of one man, a supervisor who traveled back and forth between my job and Alaska. If Interlock had their own roofing employees, this could have been alleviated.”
