Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Delta, British Columbia
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
We recently had our cedar shake roof replaced with aluminum shakes by Interlock. We are the first house in our strata to go to this type of roof. Interlock did a great job, in a timely manner, and we have had many comments from neighbours saying we now have the best roof on the street.
I would suggest more proactive day-to-day communication and status updates be improved.
I recently had the pleasure of installing a new roof by Interlock Metal Roofing Systems, and I am thrilled with the results. The process was seamless, efficient, and professional from the initial consultation to the final installation. The Interlock Metal Roofing Systems team did an excellent job of minimizing any disruption to my household during the project, and my property was left spotless upon completion. One of the standout aspects of the installation process was the crew led by Oswaldo. His leadership, craftsmanship, and communication throughout the entire process were outstanding. In addition, he was always available to answer any questions and proactively informed me of the progress of the installation. While the finished product looks impressive and has increased my property's curb appeal, the quality of the installation is second to none. I have no doubts that my new roof will live up to the lifetime warranty of this premium product. Overall, I highly recommend Interlock Metal Roofing Systems for anyone needing a new roof. The entire process was a pleasure, and the finished product is exceptional. Thank you to the Interlock team, and a special shoutout to Oswaldo for his outstanding leadership and craftsmanship.
What can I say? A great quality product and with the great personnel to go with it. Mike, Tod, and one of the best Crew managers (Oswaldo) that I have ever met.. Can't get any better. The workmanship, and product is number one. Looking forward to many years of service. Probably outlast the home. The McKay's' More contact from the beginning. Wasn't sure if it was a scam and lost my large deposit. Communication is really important Looking forward to a great roof for years to come.
Just from a preference point of view, would have liked a better picture of how the facia would have turned up. It's a bit bulky with all the bolts needed. Also, downspouts could have needed an adapter to keep birds out
We were very disappointed with Interlock Roofing. Because we understood that the company measures, manufactures and installs their own product and is local, we expected the job to go smoothly. instead there were many problems. It took 3 1/2 weeks instead of approximately one as we were told. The number of workmen was inconsistent . It started with 3 but was often one (Dennis who seemed to do his best under the circumstances). There was no Mike Smith involved. We had to request that the manager (Todd Jones) be involved when we weren't happy with the very visible seam over the front door and holes cut in our siding that were obvious errors. Screws and pieces of aluminum were scattered on the membrane of our flat roof which was not being replaced. Some of the panels were too short and one was installed before Dennis realized it had to be replaced. Todd Jones said that he would install a cover for an area of screen under the eaves that was left open and would allow rodents access but he did not do this despite several reminders. We are satisfied with the finished product but found the installation process frustrating and stressful
They did a great job especially due to the weather. They dealt with the weather very well! I'm glad I did it!
None. Very successful installation.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Delta
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Delta, British Columbia. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Delta.
Does a metal roof handle Delta's snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes — aluminum's smooth surface sheds snow effectively, and the four-way interlocking panels prevent water infiltration even under Delta's average 57 cm annual snowfall and roughly 38 freeze-thaw days per year. Metal expands and contracts uniformly, so repeated freezing and thawing don't crack or split it the way asphalt or wood shingles do. The lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no snow load stress on your structure, and optional snow guards are available if you want to manage drift.
Will a metal roof leak with Delta's 1437 mm of annual rainfall?
No. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to channel water away; the overlap design is proven across coastal and high-rainfall regions worldwide. Delta's heavy rain combined with 16 km/h typical winds and gusts to 114 km/h means water must shed fast — the angled profiles and mechanical interlock do exactly that. Installation over a solid deck and underlayment (standard practice) provides the same leak protection asphalt offers, with the added benefit that aluminum cannot rot or absorb water like wood-based materials.
Why won't an aluminum metal roof rust in Delta's coastal climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; it forms a self-healing oxide layer when exposed to air. In Delta's coastal salt-air environment and with 1437 mm annual moisture, this distinction matters: steel roofs require paint maintenance and eventually corrode, but aluminum panels stay protected. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is paired with Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading — extra insurance for a region where humidity and salt air accelerate corrosion in ferrous metals.
Is a metal roof strong enough for hail in British Columbia?
Interlock's aluminum panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means the panel withstands 1.5-inch steel balls dropped from 20 feet without cracking. Many homeowners in hail-prone regions see insurance premium reductions for this rating. While Delta's climate data shows about 2927 sunshine hours annually rather than frequent hail, the Class 4 certification gives you peace of mind and potential savings regardless of where weather patterns shift.
Can metal roofing handle Delta's wind gusts and coastal storms?
Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, well above Delta's recorded gusts near 114 km/h. The four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors on all sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This mechanical interlock, combined with proper fastening to the deck, is why the system performs in coastal and mountainous regions worldwide. Your roof won't fail in Delta's typical 16 km/h winds or even severe gusts.
Do I need to reinforce my roof frame for a metal roof?
No. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light — the Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft and is roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means no structural reinforcement is needed, and the system installs directly over most existing roofs, saving thousands in framing work. In Delta, where 57 cm of snow can fall annually, the light weight is an advantage: your structure carries far less total load (roofing plus snow) than it would under asphalt or traditional tile, reducing strain during freeze-thaw cycles when ice and snow accumulate.
What's the real lifespan and warranty of a metal roof?
The Guardian Warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty to the original owner — covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding resale appeal. With the Alunar® coating warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured), and aluminum that self-heals its oxide layer when scratched, most installations last 50–70+ years. This single roof likely covers your entire ownership in Delta's 38 annual freeze-thaw days and 1437 mm rainfall — no tearoff-and-replace cycle.
Is metal roofing worth the cost compared to asphalt over time?
Metal roofing has a higher upfront cost, but the math favors it over 30–50 years. Asphalt roofs require replacement every 15–25 years, generating landfill waste and installation costs multiple times; Interlock is a one-time investment with no tear-off cycle. Factor in Delta's 1437 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw stress, which accelerates asphalt degradation, plus the transferable 50-year warranty for the next owner, and the cost per year of ownership drops sharply. Current promotion: interest-free payments for 3 months and savings of at least $2499 on installation reduce the barrier further. Choose metal when you want your last roof.
Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, cedar shake, or tile?
Yes. Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile — each replicates traditional materials while delivering aluminum's durability. The Slate profile mimics classic quarried stone; Cedar Shingle and Shake replicate hand-split wood; Mediterranean Tile echoes European clay or concrete. All use the same four-way interlocking aluminum core and Alunar® 70% PVDF coating. Whether your Delta home is heritage, contemporary, or coastal modern, one profile matches your aesthetic. You get the look you want plus non-rusting aluminum, Class A fire rating availability, and no maintenance of actual wood or tile.
