What our customers are saying:
Clean up. I spent several hours this last weekend cleaning roofing nails and staples from between my deck boards and from my yard. I also spent significant time cleaning my gutters of roofing material.
I am very happy with the roof and crew. Everyone did a fine job, and the roof looks great! We are very happy with the product we received from Interlock. The roof looks Great!
When the product was supposed to be delivered, we had problems. We had a message from the company saying Monday would be the date. No one appeared. A week later, we were out shopping and they called to tell us they delivered it. The supervisor of the installation waited in the truck for us to get back and open the garage. He had to put it in the garage because the big truck couldn't wait. Overall, we are very satisfied. We had a lot of bushes around the house. I would have thought they would have cleaned a bit better. They cleaned the big things, but they didn't pick up the little things. I'm sure it is hard to do, though.
I think Interlock Roofing could have improved on the final clean up and sweeping up the nails.
I told them I was not interested in buying that day. I was just doing my research on what building materials were available so that I would know when I am ready in the future.
Last summer I realized I was in the need of a new roof on my old home which was built in 1876. I was hoping I could find a roof that accentuated the uniqueness and beauty of my old farm-style house. I always dreamed of owning a home with a metal roof, so I thought, well, let’s give this a look and see if it is an option. After searching for roofers and making some calls I found no one in my area offering metal roofs, needless to say, I became discouraged. Then, one day, on Facebook, I happened to see an ad with Midwest Roofing/Interlock Roofing showing the exact type of roof I was looking for!! I was so excited and called the number and was able to have an appointment arranged that very weekend. John came out, did some measuring, got up in my attic, then we sat and had a long, very informative discussion. John was extremely patient with my numerous questions and was able to explain things to me in layman’s terms, as I am not adept in the construction business, at all. So, the nitty gritty…I was originally thinking standing seam going into this whole project but then out came the slate look and oh my, that was it…The roof I had been looking for. It was exactly what needed to be on top of my house!!! And the black color just spoke to me…. John agreed!! Nowhere else had I ever seen a roof like the one I was about to have put on my beloved home. So, the price, while I knew a metal roof was going to cost more, I was looking more for security and peace of mind. I am a single parent of a child on the autism spectrum. I knew that I did not want to deal with roof issues in the future, the struggle to get a roofer to come to fix their problem, and the thought of having to replace it all over again just a few years down the road. Nope, the extra cost of this one-and-done roof was well worth it to me…after all, how do you put a price tag on peace of mind? And there aren’t many things in this world nowadays that can give you that. So, I signed the contract… The delivery…. how exciting…all these boxes lined up in my driveway…it was getting real!! Installation begins. Never in my lifetime have I met such an amazing installation crew, headed by Jesse. These guys worked tirelessly on transforming my average-looking home into the WOW home on the block. They took great care in working around my cupola and rock chimney, making sure everything was sealed where it needed to be, even reinforcing the cupola as it had been up there for so many years. These guys are not just installers, they are truly artists, and the pride in what they do shines in their workmanship. Even the care in the cleanup was amazing…very impressed. Any company can put out an amazing product, but for that product to remain amazing, that company has to have professional team members working with the customers…that is what you will get if you go with Interlock. Not just a stand-out product but a stand-out crew from sales, scheduling, and installation…it’s the whole package.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Fox River Grove
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Fox River Grove, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Fox River Grove.
Does a metal roof handle Fox River Grove's heavy snow and ice buildup?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels and smooth aluminum surface shed snow and ice far better than asphalt shingles, preventing dangerous ice dams. With about 73 cm of snow per year and 82 freeze-thaw cycles in McHenry County, your roof experiences repeated wet-snow adhesion risk; aluminum's non-porous finish defeats that. Panels lock together so tightly that wind-driven snow cannot penetrate seams. Optional snow guards keep accumulation from sliding unpredictably onto walkways or vehicles while maintaining shed performance.
Will freeze-thaw cycling crack or damage a metal roof in Illinois?
Aluminum is immune to freeze-thaw damage because it contains no water-absorbing materials. Unlike wood or asphalt, which expand and contract with moisture absorption, roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy simply expands and contracts uniformly with temperature. Fox River Grove experiences approximately 82 freeze-thaw days annually with 993 mm of rainfall; traditional materials literally absorb that water, then crack when it freezes. Aluminum panels stay stable across these cycles—no splitting, no weakening, no seasonal stress.
Does aluminum roofing rust or corrode in a wet Midwestern climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Steel ruofing oxidizes (rust) in wet climates; aluminum develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath and self-heals when scratched. With about 993 mm of annual rainfall and frequent humidity in McHenry County, corrosion resistance is critical. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides—extra protection in damp conditions. Result: no rust, no iron staining, no corrosion warranty limits.
Can a metal roof withstand McHenry County wind and storm gusts?
Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist 120 mph winds when installed to specification, and Fox River Grove experiences typical gusts around 97 km/h (about 60 mph)—well below that threshold. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. This design means no uplift failure, no panel separation, and no water infiltration during severe weather. Your roof performs above the code requirement for Illinois (ESR-1790 evaluation).
What's the hail resistance rating for a metal roof, and could I save on insurance?
Interlock panels carry UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many homeowners have qualified for insurance discounts after installing Class 4 metal roofing; contact your carrier for details. Because aluminum doesn't dent as easily as steel and won't crack like asphalt or tile, claims frequency is lower, making insurers view metal roofs favorably. Ask your agent about a Class 4 impact credit when you schedule your Interlock installation.
What warranty does Interlock offer, and how long will the roof actually last?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next homeowner 50 years of coverage from installation date. Combined with roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum that doesn't degrade and a Alunar 30-year coating warranty against chalking and fading, Interlock panels outlast asphalt by decades. This is truly your last roof, backed in writing.
Do I need to reinforce my house structure for metal tile roofing?
No. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural reinforcement is needed. You can install it directly over most existing roofs, avoiding costly removal and disposal. This matters in older homes common to McHenry County, where adding a 4- or 5-ton traditional tile roof would require expensive framing upgrades. Aluminum delivers the architectural look of heavy tile without the structural cost or the 93 cm of annual snowload stress on your foundation.
How long does Interlock installation take, and can it go over my current roof?
Installation timelines depend on roof size and complexity, but because Interlock panels are so lightweight—roughly 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile—crews work quickly and safely without expensive staging or structural supports. Most residential roofs complete in 2–5 days. Yes, Interlock installs over existing asphalt or wood shingles in most cases, eliminating tear-off labor and landfill waste. Your local Interlock installer, serving the region since 2001, will inspect your deck and explain the best approach during your free estimate.
Do reflective metal roofs really reduce cooling costs in summer?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat that asphalt absorbs, lowering cooling demand on hot days. Aged Copper Penny achieves initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, both rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. With about 3,051 sunshine hours per year in Fox River Grove, that reflection adds up across the season. You won't eliminate AC costs entirely, but measurable cooling savings occur—especially in spring and fall when nights cool but days remain warm. Combined with the roof's stability across 82 freeze-thaw cycles, energy efficiency is a real bonus.
Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Interlock aluminum panels are approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that repeats every 15–20 years. Over 50 years, you avoid multiple tear-off jobs and tons of landfill waste. The panels are manufactured in Delta, BC, using established industrial processes, and their durability means far fewer replacements. With 993 mm of annual rainfall in McHenry County, asphalt degrades faster; switching to aluminum eliminates that recurring disposal burden. CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, Interlock roofing is the sustainable choice.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Fox River Grove’s climate?
Yes. Fox River Grove averages about 73 cm of snow, 993 mm of rain, roughly 82 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 97 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
