Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Cash Corner, Maine
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Back in early May 2007, we contracted to have our old asphalt roof replaced with your Interlock roof. We are very happy that we did. It's a beautiful system and we recommend it to all our friends. I am writing you this letter to inform you that you have an outstanding individual installing your metal roof systems. I'm talking about Mr. Nikolay (Nick) N. Shalnev. Nick was prompt, courteous and a dedicated worker. We were very impressed with his skills and work ethics. He is a one man construction crew. He had our roof replaced in less than a week and that includes a couple of rain days in there as well. Nick is a true professional in his craft. We would personally request Nick for any other future jobs if they were to pop up.
Being more aware of where they are throwing things while installing. We had three window screens with small tears. We feel that the final inspection should have been done within a week at the latest of final day of install. Still waiting! Two weeks is too long to us.
Our installation manager, Paul McLaughlin, was terrible. Interlock roofing is not the cheapest option for roofing. My wife & I decided to spend considerably more to have it placed because we care about our home and were impressed by the product. When we decided to pay extra for a premium product we expected good if not great customer service. That wasn't the case. We had issues with damage to our hardy board siding during installation where it met the roof (I would be happy to send pictures if needed) Multiple areas of the house siding had fractured. When I called to discuss the siding Paul was nonresponsive, dismissive of the issue, rude to my wife and refused to look at the property or even listen to our concerns. He accused me of not wanting to pay my bill even though we paid in cash & on time. Interestingly, he had no problem coming to the house unannounced when I wasn't home to take pictures of the roof which gave me the impression he was more interested in advancing his own interests then listening & working with his customers. For this reason and this reason alone I would not and have not recommended friends to work with the company. Let Paul McLaughlin and get someone who will represent your company well. Mistakes and damages happen in the course of a project. Telling your customers you don't have time for them isn't going to help you build customer referrals or gain market share. I'd like a response or someone in management to contact me to discuss my experience. I've held off on leaving a negative google/bbb review with the hopes I could share my experience with you and have someone discuss with my wife and I the horrible customer service we received.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Cash Corner
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Cash Corner, Maine. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Cash Corner.
Does metal roofing handle Maine's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum's non-porous surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt. Cash Corner receives about 121 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 83 freeze-thaw cycles per year, the exact conditions where asphalt deteriorates fastest. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels warranty wind speeds to 120 mph, and the aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) resists the stress cycling that cracks and curls asphalt. Snow guards are available if you want controlled shedding. The solid deck underneath prevents ice dams by eliminating the warm air gaps that create them.
Why won't an aluminum roof rust in Maine's wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum forms a microscopic oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched. Cash Corner averages nearly 1000 mm of rain yearly, yet aluminum weathers this indefinitely while steel roofing rusts and fails. Interlock applies Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating to both panel sides for extra protection, and this coating carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. The result is a roof that remains structurally sound through decades of moisture exposure.
How does metal roofing survive Maine's repeated freeze-thaw stress?
Aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without cracking or splitting—properties that matter tremendously in Cash Corner, where roughly 83 freeze-thaw days per year cycle temperatures across 0°C. Asphalt becomes brittle and fractures; wood shakes split; concrete tile cracks. Aluminum's elasticity means no permanent damage from thermal cycling. The four-way interlocking seams also prevent water from penetrating during freeze events when water in gaps would otherwise ice and force panels apart. The Guardian warranty explicitly covers cracking and splitting—conditions that frequently end traditional roofs here.
Can a metal roof withstand Cash Corner's winter wind gusts?
Absolutely. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h). Cash Corner's typical gusts reach about 121 km/h, well within that margin. The mechanical interlock—where each panel engages its neighbor on all four sides—distributes wind load across the entire roof system rather than stressing individual fasteners. The ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirms compliance with IBC/IRC wind standards. You receive a warranty that covers actual wind performance, not just theoretical ratings.
Does a metal roof get damaged by hail, and will insurance cover it?
Interlock's aluminum panels carry UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance premium reductions on comprehensive coverage because metal roofs rarely file hail claims. The aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) distributes impact energy without denting permanently or cracking. This durability record, combined with the explicit warranty, gives you documentation that appeals to insurers. Over a 50-year lifespan in a region with hail risk, the savings compound significantly.
Will my house need structural reinforcement for a metal roof?
No reinforcement is required. Interlock's Slate and Cedar Shingle profiles install at approximately 0.41 lb/sq ft—roughly 1/240th the weight of slate tile and 1/96th the weight of concrete or clay tile. Most existing roofs can support this load, and Interlock installs directly over your current shingles, eliminating expensive tear-off and structural work. The ICC-ES report (ESR-1790) confirms installation compliance without framing upgrades for typical residential structures. This is particularly valuable in Cash Corner, where older homes have modest framing. The weight advantage also reduces stress on your foundation over the roof's 50-year lifespan.
Can you install metal roofing over my existing asphalt roof?
Yes. Interlock installs over most existing roofs without removal, saving you thousands in labor and disposal costs. The installer adds a solid deck and underlayment, which also eliminates attic noise (metal is asphalt-quiet when properly installed). The process typically takes days rather than weeks because no tear-off delays work. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served this region since 1999 and manages Cash Corner installations with minimal disruption. A current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, making the upfront investment manageable. Your existing roof becomes an insulating and protective base layer.
How much maintenance does a metal roof actually require?
Virtually none compared to asphalt or wood. Aluminum doesn't need sealing, recoating, or periodic replacement of damaged individual shakes—upkeep that costs hundreds of dollars every 10–15 years with traditional roofs. In Cash Corner's ~3076 annual sunshine hours and 121 cm snow load, debris collects minimally on the smooth, sloped Slate and Shake profiles. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty (ASTM D4214 / D2244) means the surface resists the fading and chalking that degrades asphalt. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance demands. Your expense becomes simple snow guard inspection and occasional gutter cleaning—the same tasks any roof requires.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over a 50-year life?
Yes—the economics strongly favor metal over repeated asphalt replacement. Asphalt roofs last 15–20 years in Cash Corner's harsh climate (1000 mm rain, 121 cm snow, 83 freeze-thaw cycles). Over 50 years, you replace asphalt 2–3 times at $8,000–$12,000 each plus removal costs. Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime non-prorated for the original owner and transferable for 50 years to the next owner, making this your last roof purchase. The current promotion (10% off installation or zero interest until Spring 2027) cuts initial cost. Material and labor savings over the roof's life typically exceed the upfront premium by $20,000–$30,000, before accounting for energy savings.
Can a metal roof actually reduce cooling costs in Maine?
Yes—energy-efficient Interlock colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 reflect heat that asphalt absorbs. In Cash Corner, where about 3076 sunshine hours occur annually, summer attic temperatures run 15–25°F cooler under metal than asphalt, reducing air conditioning demand and load. The cool roof effect cuts peak cooling costs 10–15% in summer while the lightweight aluminum eliminates the conductive heating penalty of heavy tile. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms these values measured by independent lab testing. Over 50 years, the energy savings compound into thousands of dollars, particularly as utility rates rise.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Cash Corner’s climate?
Yes. Cash Corner averages about 121 cm of snow, 995 mm of rain, roughly 83 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 121 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
