Review: September 15, 2023 Completion: June 22, 2023

Review: May 11, 2015

I enjoyed talking with Mr Smith and he did have all the answers for my questions.

Review: June 19, 2014 Completion: May 20, 2014

Waiting till the last minute to apply for a permit resulted in a 2 week delay. I stripped the roof on time and the communication/coordination from Interlock installation co-coordinator (Paul McIntyre) was very disappointing. The installation crew should not be getting the permits in my opinion. On a future addition project, I would like to be able to buy the product and install in myself. Overall happy with the completed job. Minor workmanship issues. Dissapointed with the way Interlock dealt with my issues during the job although they did come through with $700 off the bill to help with the fact that my boom lift had to be rented for a month as apposed to the week I had planned.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Bridgewater

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Bridgewater.

Will a metal roof handle Bridgewater's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or failing?

Aluminum's crystalline structure and non-porous oxide layer make it inherently resistant to freeze-thaw damage that degrades asphalt and wood. With about 84 freeze-thaw days per year in Bridgewater, your roof encounters repeated expansion and contraction; aluminum flexes without cracking or splitting because it has no grain structure like cedar or absorptive surface like asphalt. The four-way interlocking panels (ESR-1790 code-compliant) allow micro-movement while staying watertight, and the dual-sided Alunar 70% PVDF coating—warranted 30 years—protects the surface through decades of seasonal stress.

How does an Interlock metal roof handle Bridgewater's 75 centimeters of annual snow?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice faster than asphalt or wood, reducing ice dam buildup when Bridgewater receives roughly 75 cm of snow yearly. The lightweight design—the Shingle profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete tile—means no structural reinforcement is needed even in heavy snow zones, and the roof can be installed over your existing roof without added stress. Snow guards are available if you want controlled shedding; the four-way interlocking panels maintain their integrity under snow load and won't cup or warp as temperatures cycle through the area's 84 annual freeze-thaw days.

Can a metal roof rust in Bridgewater's wet climate with 1200 mm of rain per year?

Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust—the primary failure mode that cuts asphalt and steel roofs short. When the roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum surface scratches, an oxide layer forms naturally within hours, healing itself and blocking further corrosion even in salt-air environments. Bridgewater's average 1194 mm of annual rainfall is well-managed by aluminum's passivation chemistry; coastal research stations and salt-air homes worldwide have used Interlock panels since 1998 with zero rust reports. The dual-sided Alunar 70% PVDF coating adds 30-year protection against environmental degradation, giving you two layers of corrosion defense that wood shake and asphalt simply cannot match.

Will my metal roof blow off in Bridgewater's coastal-strength wind gusts?

The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph and are warranted for that rating when installed to specification—more than enough for Bridgewater's typical gusts of about 135 km/h (84 mph). The mechanical interlock system, verified under ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790, locks panels together so they function as a unified membrane rather than individual shingles that lift. UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating provides additional assurance that high-wind events won't compromise your roof's integrity; the interlocking design distributes pressure across the entire roof plane, preventing the localized failures asphalt or wood roofs experience in sustained gusts.

Does an Interlock metal roof qualify for homeowner insurance discounts in Massachusetts?

Many insurers offer discounts for Class 4 hail-rated roofs; Interlock panels carry the UL 2218 Class 4 certification—the highest impact rating available—and are even warranted against perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible aluminum roof may also lower your fire insurance premium, particularly if your area has wildfire risk or if you're replacing combustible shake or asphalt. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 documentation and ICC-ES ESR-1790 code report; many underwriters recognize these certifications as material defects that reduce claim frequency, so you may see immediate premium reductions that offset part of your installation cost.

Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer around Bridgewater?

energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84, reflecting the heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. With about 3062 annual sunshine hours in the Bridgewater area, that reflective advantage compounds over months and years, reducing air-conditioning load during warm periods. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms measurable heat reduction compared to standard dark asphalt; while Bridgewater's mean temperature is a moderate 11.1°C, peak summer cooling demand still benefits from aluminum's reflective properties, lowering your energy bill and extending HVAC system life without requiring any additional upgrades.

What warranty comes with an Interlock metal roof, and does it transfer if I sell?

The Guardian warranty provides lifetime limited, non-prorated coverage for the original owner against rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, and curling—a guarantee no asphalt or wood roof can match. The original owner receives full protection for material defects; when you sell, the warranty transfers once to the next owner, providing 50 years of coverage from roof completion. This one-time transferability adds real resale appeal, signaling durability and reduced future buyer risk. Installed over your existing roof with no removal required, Interlock avoids the tear-off cycle asphalt demands every 15–25 years, making this genuinely your last roof purchase and a major financial advantage over a lifespan spanning decades.

How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof need versus asphalt or cedar shake?

Aluminum requires virtually no maintenance—no algae treatment, no moss removal, no wood staining or sealing like cedar shake demands, and no tar-patch repairs asphalt needs. The smooth, non-porous surface sheds debris naturally, especially in Bridgewater's 75 cm annual snowfall and 1194 mm rain, which clean the roof without effort. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden compared to conventional roofing; the dual-sided Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty) doesn't degrade or require reapplication. Occasional gutter cleaning is all most homeowners do; compare that to asphalt's need for professional inspections every few years or cedar shake's annual treatments to prevent rot and splitting.

Can Interlock metal roofing be installed over my existing roof without removal?

Yes—the extraordinary light weight of aluminum panels (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Cedar Shingle at similar weights) means most existing roofs don't require structural reinforcement, allowing installation directly over asphalt, wood, or even old tile. No tear-off means faster installation, lower labor cost, and immediate weather protection without a vulnerable interim period. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., has served the region since 1999 and handles both new construction and retrofit projects; they'll assess your existing deck and confirm suitability, then install the four-way interlocking panels using standard metal roofing fasteners and techniques. The process typically takes days instead of weeks, minimizing disruption and reducing the construction waste that traditional re-roofing sends to landfills.

Is Interlock metal roofing more environmentally responsible than asphalt shingles?

Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, versus asphalt shingles that are removed, torn off, and sent to landfills every 15–25 years—a cycle that repeats forever. Interlock panels, manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998, use roofing-grade aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with no toxic binders or tar; the coating is Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon, warranted 30 years and applied to both sides for durability. Your single Interlock roof installation avoids multiple tear-offs over your lifetime, eliminating thousands of pounds of waste for one household. When eventually recycled, aluminum is fully recovered as high-grade material, whereas asphalt degrades and contaminates recycling streams; choosing Interlock closes the loop and breaks the landfill cycle.
