What our customers are saying:
We love our new roof. We get tons of compliments. the slate style really matches the style of our house (built in 1690). Carefree for life. Overall, they did an exceptional job and were organized and professional. There was some slight mis-communication initially and I'm not sure where the link in the chain was broken, but it appeared someone was mis-instructed on which skylight to take out, either that, or he couldn't read the plans, but I'm not sure. In the end they remedied the problem. Sales person was very knowledgeable and friendly, but be prepared for him to overwhelm you with info (not a bad thing). We couldn't be happier with the product quality and look. Highly recommend this. They also offer financing which was helpful for us. see comments above questions 3 & 4 Best roof ever for quality and look
From our first meeting with Jonathan, who was professional, authentic and knowledgeable about roofing, we've had a wonderful experience with Interlock Roofing. The installation team was clean, courteous and skilled at their job. The best part is snow slides off the roof and no more leaks in the house. Nothing. it was all great. It was great, easy to set up and we love the look of the roof
Located in Dorchester, I chose Interlock Metal Roofing - New England; their Metal Roofing exceeded expectations with clear communication, professional installation, respectful crews, daily cleanup, and a gorgeous, durable roof that’s the talk of the neighborhood—highly recommended.
I've had an Interlock metal roof on my house and garden shed for two years now. It's absolutely gorgeous. Everyone thinks it's a slate roof! I've had no problems with it. The installation was amazing! A crew of 11 showed up early in the morning and were almost completely done in one day on both buildings. They were so professional. I highly recommend Interlock for both their high quality product and their great people.
I just had a brand new Dark Grey Metal Roof by INTERLOCK installed. I found everyone that I dealt with from Jonathan Brown in sales and Jennifer Simons in the office and to the crew that did an excellent job ( they were very hard workers)! I am pleased with the outcome of the roof. It looks wonderful, I would highly recommend interlock to anyone who Is looking for a quality roof and excellent and professional installation.
The work was both of excellent quality and done on time. The worksite was left exceptionally clean. I would recommend Interlock Roofing to anyone looking for a great product and great service.
The work was both of excellent quality and done on time. The worksite was left exceptionally clean. I would recommend Interlock Roofing to anyone looking for a great product and great service.
Just a note about the roof we installed in March of 2003. The first thing that we have to say is that the roof looks wonderful; it’s the best one on the street. A neighbor two houses down the street had a new asphalt roof installed shortly after we had our Interlock Roof installed. The neighbor across the street remarked that our roof looked a lot better than the neighbor's. We have had quite a few neighbors stop and ask about the roof and remark how good it looks. Having the chimney flashed with a solid flashing (instead of step flashing) and the ducts matching the roof really makes the roof look finished off. Also, having them put vents on the back which match the roof looks finished off, so they are not noticeable. As far as the workmen and the quality of workmanship, we feel that it was done very professionally. We asked that they not start working until 8:00 am, and they waited until 8:30 am to start. They kept the grounds very clean even when they were stripping the roof. They hung tarps so nothing could or would damage either the house or any plants which are around the house. They were very friendly and courteous. In closing, we are very pleased with the roof and the professionalism of the workers.
Communication after the job was a bit lacking, when we had a couple of questions about signage left out front. Everything leading up to the project was perfect! We love the look and quality of our new roof. Your process was exceptional, and your staff great to deal with. The job was completed a month ahead of schedule and took half the time that we were expecting. We hope to never have to use the warranty, but should we have to, I’m confident that we will be taken care of. Great job!
My experience with this company was so easy. First I met with my salesman Johnathan Brown. He was so wonderful explaining everything, very friendly . Loved working with him. The workers were very professional ,did a great job and left no mess. Customer service was very easy to ask any questions. Love my new roof and the company I chose to do it
They have a wonderful product and are incredibly knowledgeable. I have nothing to suggest. They are an amazing company. They did an excellent job and my house feels great with the roof and what it has done for the temperatures.
I would recommend the Interlock Roofing System to anybody, my friends and neighbors were impressed by how nice my roof looks. The men that installed the roof were very respectful and courteous. I was shocked by how quickly they were able to install the Interlock Roofing System. Not only do I have a beautiful roof now, I have the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty and you can transfer it to a new owner if I ever sell the house.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Harwich
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Harwich, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Harwich.
Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice like Harwich gets?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind gusts up to 120 mph, which anchors snow and ice securely even during Harwich's typical winter gusts to 160 km/h. The panels shed meltwater efficiently—about 120 cm of snow falls annually here—and the lightweight construction (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, unlike slate or concrete tile. Snow guards can be added if aesthetic preference calls for it. The material's durability through roughly 44 freeze-thaw cycles per year is guaranteed under the Guardian Warranty.
Will a metal roof crack or fail from freeze-thaw cycling?
Aluminum cannot crack from freeze-thaw stress because it expands and contracts as a unified alloy without brittleness. Harwich experiences about 44 freeze-thaw days annually, and Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 roofing-grade aluminum (ASTM B209) is engineered to flex and recover. The Guardian Warranty explicitly covers cracking, curling, and splitting—none of which occur in aluminum. The material's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so micro-stress points from temperature swings do not propagate into failure like they do in asphalt, wood, or tile.
Can aluminum roofing rust in coastal areas like Harwich?
No. Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust—period. Harwich receives approximately 1157 mm of rain annually and sits in a salt-air environment, but the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244). Interlock has installed metal roofs from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station since 1998. The aluminum's natural oxide layer self-heals when scratched, providing permanent protection even in corrosive maritime conditions where steel roofing would deteriorate.
Is metal roofing worth the cost in Harwich?
A metal roof is typically a higher upfront cost than asphalt, but the total cost of ownership over 50+ years is lower. Asphalt roofs last 15–25 years and require replacement every generation; Interlock's aluminum carries a transferable 50-year warranty term (lifetime limited material for you, 50 years for the next owner). In Harwich, with 1157 mm annual rainfall and 62 cm of snow, the durability means no emergency repairs from wind damage, hail (UL 2218 Class 4 rated), or UV degradation. Current financing offers zero interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off the installation cost. Over 50 years, one metal roof replaces 2–3 asphalt roofs and outlasts repair bills.
Does a metal roof perform in hail, and can it lower insurance costs?
Interlock metal roofing earns the highest impact rating available: UL 2218 Class 4, tested with 2-inch steel balls. The Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this non-catastrophic failure rate and offer premium discounts on Class 4 roofs. While Harwich's 62 cm annual snow falls as precipitation rather than hail, severe coastal weather can bring damaging ice and wind-driven debris. ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms the material's structural integrity under impact. Homeowners should contact their insurer about Class 4 discounts—the durability rating often reduces long-term insurance costs.
Will a metal roof help with cooling costs in summer?
Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), which reflects heat that asphalt absorbs. Harwich averages about 3081 sunshine hours per year, and on summer days, reflective coatings keep the underlying structure cooler, reducing air-conditioning load. Cool Roof Rating Council verified finishes lower roof surface temperatures compared to dark asphalt. The lightweight aluminum panels also conduct heat away efficiently. This is particularly valuable in the shoulder seasons when moderate cooling is needed; the energy savings compound annually over the roof's 50-year lifespan.
How does metal roofing hold up to nor'easters and coastal wind?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Harwich experiences typical daily-max winds around 29 km/h with gusts reaching 160 km/h during severe coastal storms. The interlocking design distributes wind loads across all four edges of each panel, preventing uplift and panel separation. The Guardian Warranty covers wind performance, and the ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms structural compliance with IBC/IRC standards for high-wind regions. Coastal homeowners choose metal roofing specifically for its proven resistance to nor'easters and tropical-system gusts.
Can my house support a metal roof, or do I need structural work?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum profiles are extraordinarily light: the Slate installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft, the Mediterranean Tile at about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most existing framing easily supports this load, and the lightweight design allows installation over existing roofs without costly structural upgrades. Harwich receives about 120 cm of snow annually, but the minimal weight of aluminum means your rafters and joists experience far less stress than with slate, wood shake, or tile. The Guardian Warranty and ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirm structural safety across the product range.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?
Very little. Interlock metal roofing requires no re-sealing, no painting, and no seasonal repairs like asphalt or wood shake demand. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading; routine gutter cleaning and occasional leaf removal are all typical maintenance in a climate with 1157 mm annual rainfall and 62 cm of snow. The Guardian Warranty covers rust, rot, splitting, and cracking—issues that plague asphalt and wood over time. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden compared to traditional materials. After 50 years, your metal roof will still require less upkeep than a 15-year asphalt roof requires by year five.
Is metal roofing environmentally better than asphalt shingles?
Yes, substantially. Interlock aluminum panels are approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, with no landfill burden. The asphalt tear-off cycle—replacing a roof every 15–25 years and sending millions of tons to landfills annually—stops with a metal roof that lasts 50+ years. Harwich's 1157 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycling accelerates asphalt degradation; metal avoids repeated replacement cycles. The 50-year transferable warranty term means one installation serves two or three generations of homeowners. Aluminum's lightweight properties also reduce installation energy demand and transportation fuel compared to slate or tile. Over a half-century, choosing metal over asphalt eliminates two roof replacements and their associated waste.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Harwich’s climate?
Yes. Harwich averages about 62 cm of snow, 1157 mm of rain, roughly 44 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 160 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
