1.) Our sales rep told us he was going to give us a deal, even though it would cut into his commission. That rubbed us wrong.2.) He seemed to have come to the appointment with the impression that we were going to sign right away, and seemed angry when we told him we were going to have 3 quotes no matter what.3.) He showed us all his contracts and said that if he had to come back, he'd be losing a slot that another prospective customer could take.4.) He took pictures of our property (that didn't have anything to do with our roof) and surrounding properties, which felt weird. One of the pictures was obviously through the bushes.5.) His presentation wasn't polished. He showed us pictures of papers from what appeared to be a training or flier instead of having put together something in a PowerPoint.6.) When we asked questions regarding holding the proper licensing to pull permits and the proper insurance, he acted as if that went without saying. It made us feel as if our question was a stupid one.7.) He spent a lot of time telling us about why we didn't want an asphalt roof when we stated explicitly that we weren't interested in an asphalt roof. It's as if he wasn't really listening to us.8.) He told us he doesn't like evening appointments (which ours was) because families with small children (which we are) tend to be too sidetracked by their children to have a good discussion.9.) He spent an inordinate amount of time browsing through his pictures instead of having a few quality pictures to show from the beginning.10.) He showed us a price, which he then knocked down continuously throughout the time he was there. Finally saying that if Classic (another company that we were getting a quote from) provided us with a lower quote, to call him and he'd see what he could do about dropping the price more. Seriously, we know his job is to make his company money, but this just felt slimy.

Review: January 15, 2021Completion: December 14, 2020

The quality of the work was beautiful. The process of getting the roof up there, was a nightmare. We had a really hard time during the process. It's not truly a straight answer. I think if there was a way to contact the same person throughout the process so they are familiar with the situation, that alone would help out quite a bit. There was a lot of good and bad.

Review: September 4, 2020Completion: August 18, 2020

We are happy with the product but concerned about the installation. We have a current issues with how the product was installed which resulted in water damage. At this time although we like the product, we have an issue that prevents us from recommending it to friends. Having a project manager on site the whole time would have made this better. There were communication issues. Part of the sales pitch as that they were diligent in cleaning and they were not. It would have been nice to have the project manager come review upon completion. Some of these issues could have been prevented if they would have came back. The bathroom vent is prime example of this. We are still waiting for a call back on when they will come back out and fix our issues and the vent.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Petersham

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Petersham, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Petersham.

How does a metal roof handle Petersham's 141 cm of annual snowfall and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, which absorbs moisture and creates ice dams. Petersham experiences about 94 freeze-thaw days per year, and the non-porous aluminum oxide coating never degrades from this cycling—unlike asphalt, which cracks and curls under repeated freeze-thaw stress. The panels' four-way interlocking design and engineered slope management prevent water pooling. Optional snow guards are available if you want to control snow release patterns.

Why choose aluminum roofing instead of steel in a climate with 1033 mm of annual rainfall?

Aluminum contains no iron and therefore cannot rust—period. Steel, by contrast, corrodes and weakens when exposed to moisture over decades. Petersham's 1033 mm annual rainfall means prolonged wetness is inevitable. Interlock aluminum uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 alloys with an Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both panel sides, protecting against corrosion even in heavy rain. The oxide layer that forms on aluminum is self-healing; scratches do not propagate into rust spots.

What's the warranty on an Interlock metal roof, and does it transfer if I sell?

Interlock offers a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, and curling—conditions that plague asphalt roofs within 15–20 years. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for a 50-year term from completion, a significant selling advantage in Petersham's active real-estate market. The 30-year coating warranty specifically covers fading and chalking under the UV stress of Petersham's 3026 annual sunshine hours.

Can my existing roof structure support a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the Mediterranean Tile profile—which replicates heavy clay or concrete—weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than the material it mimics. Most Petersham homes can support a metal roof directly over the existing structure. The lightweight advantage becomes clear when you consider that traditional tile roofs demand expensive framing upgrades. Interlock installs over existing asphalt, wood, or other materials without added cost.

How long does a metal roof installation take, and do I have to tear off my old roof first?

Most installations complete within 3–5 working days depending on roof complexity. You do not have to tear off your existing roof; Interlock panels install directly over it, saving you $1500–$3000 in disposal costs and avoiding the asphalt-to-landfill waste cycle. The installer removes gutters, flashing, and any roof penetrations, then installs underlayment and the new panels. This 'overlay' approach keeps your home weathertight throughout the process and eliminates the debris and labor expense of traditional tear-off work.

Will a metal roof blow off in Petersham's winter wind gusts?

No. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Petersham's typical peak gusts reach about 113 km/h (70 mph), well within this range. The interlocking design creates a unified system that resists uplift from gusts and sustained wind pressure. ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms this performance under IBC/IRC standards. Insurance underwriters often recognize this durability, and some offer premium reductions.

Does Interlock metal roofing hold up to hail, and could it lower my homeowner's insurance?

Interlock holds UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and is even warranted against perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this non-combustible aluminum construction and Class A fire rating as lower-risk than asphalt, sometimes offering 10–15% discounts on homeowner's premiums. Contact your agent with the ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report and UL rating to inquire about savings. In a region like Petersham, where severe weather is factored into rate models, this can pay dividends over the roof's 50+ year life.

Can a metal roof actually lower my cooling costs in central Massachusetts?

energy-efficient color options reflect up to 0.55 of the sun's energy (initial solar reflectance) with thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning less heat enters your home during Petersham's 3026 annual sunshine hours. Asphalt absorbs this same solar load, raising attic temperatures 30–40°F higher than a reflective metal roof on identical homes. Over a cooling season, lower attic temperatures reduce HVAC runtime and energy bills. Cool Roof Rating Council certification verifies these gains independently. The lifetime roof life means these energy savings compound for decades.

Is an aluminum metal roof more environmentally sound than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that delivers millions of tons annually to waste sites. When an asphalt roof fails around year 15–20, all of it becomes landfill; Interlock's lifetime durability and transferable warranty mean it outlasts 2–3 asphalt roofs. At end-of-life, the aluminum retains scrap value and enters the recycling stream. Petersham's sustainability-conscious residents can install a roof that performs through multiple generations while eliminating decades of waste.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Petersham, and how long have they served the area?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served Worcester County and surrounding regions since 1999, offering both expertise and accountability. They understand local codes, seasonal weather patterns, and the specific needs of central Massachusetts homes. Currently, the company offers either no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—terms that reduce upfront cost barriers for Petersham homeowners. Local service ensures warranty support, inspections, and repairs stay prompt and accessible.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Petersham’s climate?

Yes. Petersham averages about 141 cm of snow, 1033 mm of rain, roughly 94 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 113 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
