So far, great the way it is. My Neighbors do not appreciate your sign. They think it is way too big for the area. One fellow walking by asked if I was getting paid for having the sign, I said yes, it was part on the deal.

Review: September 7, 2018Completion: August 20, 2018

The crew wasted a whole day waiting for the dumpster to be delivered. The workers came from R.I. every morning --with morning traffic through Boston they did not arrive until 10 A.M.--which is not their fault. Since the materials were here on sight the company should have their workers closer to the job. I don't know how that could be handled, but it would speed things up. Many people have mentioned how great the roof looks and I am happy also. Thanks for a great job. I am still waiting for the sign that I gave them permission to put in the yard. The dumpster was many hours late in coming which meant the crew lost a whole day .

Definite language barrier with workers. Also The worker should not be the one to receive the check. He had the wrong price and I had to correct him as I owed more than his form stated. A beautiful product!

The total experience i had with interlock was 100% satisfaction and I would to recommend anyone who would like a lifetime guarantee on their roof. I can now pass that on to my children. The communication barrier was there, but that was beyond both our controls. I'm totally, totally satisfied and I don't know what I could say that they could improve on. I'm very very happy with the job.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Wakefield

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Wakefield.

Does a metal roof handle snow load in Wakefield winters?

Yes. Wakefield receives about 84 cm of snow annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow efficiently without the ice-dam risk that plagues asphalt. The metal surface allows snow to slide cleanly. At roughly 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile, the panels are so light that no structural reinforcement is needed—a critical advantage over slate or concrete tile. Your home's existing framing supports the roof without upgrades.

How does aluminum stand up to freeze-thaw cycles?

Wakefield experiences about 76 freeze-thaw days per year, where temperature swings stress conventional roofing materials. Aluminum doesn't crack, curl, or split under this cycling because it's a single homogeneous alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24 to ASTM B209 spec). The material's naturally self-healing oxide layer actually strengthens under repeated thermal stress rather than weakening. Wood and asphalt degrade predictably in these conditions; aluminum ages without structural compromise.

With 1065 mm of rain yearly, how leak-proof is metal roofing?

Completely leak-proof when installed to spec. Wakefield's 1065 mm annual rainfall is handled by the four-way interlocking seams—water cannot work horizontally through the panels. Add solid deck underlayment and proper fastening, and you have a rain barrier superior to asphalt, which relies on tar adhesion that degrades over time. The warranty covers leaks and water intrusion, reflecting manufacturer confidence in the design.

Why can't aluminum roofing rust like steel?

Aluminum contains zero iron, and iron is what rusts. The 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloys used in Interlock panels form a thin, invisible oxide layer that self-heals when scratched—meaning the roof gets tougher, not weaker, over time. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides for extra salt-air protection, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured). In Wakefield's damp northeast climate, this is a permanent advantage over steel.

Can a metal roof survive Wakefield's winter wind gusts?

Yes, without question. Wakefield sees typical wind gusts around 130 km/h, and Interlock's panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed per spec. The four-way interlocking system prevents edge lift and panel separation—the primary failure mode in high winds. Steel fasteners and the mechanical lock design distribute wind loads across the entire roof plane rather than stressing individual seams.

Does hail damage to a metal roof affect my insurance rates?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating may qualify homeowners for insurance premium discounts; contact your agent with the UL rating number. Aluminum's malleability means it absorbs impact energy rather than shattering like slate or clay tile, then springs back without permanent deformation in most events.

Do I need to reinforce my house structure for a metal roof?

No. The Interlock Tile profile weighs roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so your existing roof frame already has more than enough capacity. The Slate and Cedar Shingle profiles are even lighter. This eliminates expensive structural upgrades that would be mandatory with traditional tile. You can install Interlock over most existing asphalt roofs, recovering your old roofing cost immediately and avoiding a costly tear-off-to-landfill cycle.

What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once to the next homeowner, who receives 50 years of coverage from completion. For a Wakefield home with 76 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 84 cm snow, this means decades of zero material failure. Few roofing products offer non-prorated lifetime coverage; this reflects the product's proven durability since 1998.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?

Metal outlasts asphalt by 40+ years, eliminating replacement cycles. Asphalt typically fails within 15–20 years in Wakefield's climate—especially under 76 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 1065 mm rain. Interlock is the last roof you buy. The Guardian Warranty (lifetime, non-prorated) plus 30-year coating protection means your total cost per year falls dramatically over the roof's lifespan. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, reducing the upfront barrier.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock panels are approximately 95% recyclable aluminum at end of life, entering the recycling stream indefinitely. Asphalt shingles torn off during replacement go to landfills—Wakefield alone processes tons annually. By choosing metal, you avoid the tear-off cycle entirely. The panels last 50+ years, eliminating repeated extraction, manufacturing, and disposal of asphalt products. Aluminum's light weight also reduces transportation emissions and installation carbon footprint compared to slate or tile.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Wakefield’s climate?

Yes. Wakefield averages about 84 cm of snow, 1065 mm of rain, roughly 76 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 130 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
