Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Center Barnstead, New Hampshire
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
You have a good product and everything but the pay back wouldn't be there because I'm to old. If I was 20-30 it would be a good pay back but I am 71 years old.
my only concern was that a new skylight was placed as known previously by all. Previous roofing was removed and left a bit of a gully. Interlock just showed up and put on the roof with no discussion with me that it would leave a gully around the window. It would seem to me that the professional thing to do would be to contact me, inform me and discuss possible resolution rather than just put the roof down and see what happens.
They could have improved in having the salesperson and foreman have a sit down so they are not disconnected and have the same information. Also, they should have workers that understand and comprehend English.
Took the installers three times to get it right. Obvious they were inexperienced. The manager should have been on-site while they were working and he was not. It is still not perfect. Dings in the metal. Some areas are crooked. The Installation was terrible. The crew claimed they were finished but there were nails sticking out and boards hanging down. We were appalled that the installers thought that was a competent job.
None - well done All good.
They were very nice and I would like to get back to them. I am going to contact you so I can talk to you some more. I would recommend Interlock Roofing, they were nice and thorough.
Throughout the project we could not ask questions or communicate with the workers due to a language barrier. We are still waiting to have issues resolved. No one is getting back to us.
Mike was awesome. Very pleasant to deal with.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Center Barnstead
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Center Barnstead, New Hampshire. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Center Barnstead.
Does metal roofing handle heavy snow better than asphalt in New Hampshire winters?
Metal roofing sheds snow more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface doesn't trap moisture the way porous shingles do. Center Barnstead averages about 148 cm of snow annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels—warranted for 120 mph winds—stay locked tight through freeze-thaw cycles, which happen roughly 100 times per year here. The lightweight aluminum (the Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 96% less than concrete or clay tile) won't load your structure, while the standing-seam profile naturally sheds ice and snow buildup. Add snow guards if you want; the roof handles whatever accumulates.
Why does freeze-thaw cycling matter for metal roofs in Center Barnstead?
With about 100 freeze-thaw days yearly, your roof endures constant expansion and contraction. Asphalt shingles crack and curl under that stress; aluminum alloy (ASTM B209 3105-H24 / 3003-H24) expands and contracts uniformly without splitting or curling. Interlock's Alunar fluorocarbon finish—warranted 30 years against cracking and fading—protects the substrate through those wet-freeze-dry cycles. The four-way interlocking system accommodates movement without opening seams. After 100+ freeze-thaw swings each year, you're still looking at a roof that performs like day one, backed by a lifetime limited warranty.
Can a metal roof stand up to hail, and will my insurance company care?
Interlock aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That's proven durability, not marketing. Many insurers recognize this and offer discounts on premiums or waive the hail deductible entirely; bring your ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report and UL rating to your agent. Center Barnstead's wind gusts average up to 110 km/h, and hail often travels alongside them. A Class 4 roof doesn't just survive that; it documents its survival in writing.
How does a metal roof keep water out during New Hampshire's heavy rain?
Center Barnstead averages about 941 mm of annual rainfall. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create overlapping barriers so water sheds away before it can pool or seep into seams. Each panel locks to its neighbors from all four sides, eliminating the fastener penetrations that cause leaks in other metal roofs. When installed over solid decking with felt underlayment—standard procedure—the system mimics asphalt's flat-plane protection but with superior shedding and zero asphalt's granule-shedding or deterioration. Proper pitch and interlocking geometry do the heavy lifting.
Do I need to reinforce my house frame for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is required. Interlock's Slate installs at about 0.41 lb per square foot, the Mediterranean Tile at 0.59—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. A traditional slate roof weighs ten to fifteen times more and often demands costly structural upgrades. Interlock aluminum roofing installs directly over most existing roofs, which means you avoid tear-off labor, landfill fees, and frame reinforcement. Your home's structure was built to carry asphalt shingles; aluminum roofing is a fraction of that weight, so the upgrade is straightforward and economical.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost when I can buy asphalt shingles cheaper?
Asphalt is cheaper day one; metal roofing is cheaper over the roof's lifetime. Asphalt shingles last 15 to 20 years and then you tear them off, pay labor and disposal, and start over. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, then transferable 50 years to the next owner. That's one roof purchase in your lifetime instead of three or four. The Alunar coating holds color 30 years (ASTM D4214 / D2244 tested), and you never reroof. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Calculate the total cost over 50 years, not the first invoice.
How much maintenance does a metal roof actually require?
Virtually none. Aluminum doesn't rot, rust, or split; the Alunar fluorocarbon finish doesn't peel or require repainting (30-year warranty against chalking and fading). Asphalt shingles demand moss removal, algae treatment, and regular inspections for deterioration. Wood shakes require preventive fungicide. Interlock metal roofing is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Twice a decade, rinse debris from valleys if you're in a heavy leaf zone; that's it. With 3017 hours of sunshine annually in Center Barnstead, the roof self-cleans through UV exposure and rain. You're trading routine upkeep for genuine set-it-and-forget-it durability.
Does a metal roof help cool my house in summer?
energy-efficient Interlock colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 reflect heat that asphalt absorbs. Center Barnstead gets about 3017 sunshine hours yearly, so summer cooling load matters. Metal roofing bounces that solar energy away rather than storing it in your attic, reducing air-conditioning runtime and cost. Cool Roof Rating Council testing confirms the effect. You won't see a 50% reduction—landscape and building orientation matter—but a reflective metal roof on a modest home typically saves 10 to 15% on cooling costs. Combined with the 100+ freeze-thaw days here, you're also reducing the stress that repeated thermal cycling puts on shingles.
How does a metal roof handle wind in New Hampshire?
Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Center Barnstead's typical gusts reach about 110 km/h, so you're within safe operating margins. The interlocking design—each panel locked on all four sides—prevents the panel flutter and lift that causes fastener failures and leaks in other metal roofs. Proper fastening into solid deck and adherence to ICC-ES ESR-1790 installation guidelines ensure the system performs as rated. When a nor'easter or microburst hits, your roof stays tied down.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing near Center Barnstead?
Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served this region since 1999 and specializes in Interlock systems. They understand New England weather—heavy snow, freeze-thaw cycling, coastal salt air that reaches inland—and the exact installation protocols required to meet ICC-ES ESR-1790 standards. They can advise on profile selection (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, or Standing Seam), coordinate with local contractors, and ensure the roof performs as warranted. Right now, financing is available: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Call them for a site visit and quote.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Center Barnstead’s climate?
Yes. Center Barnstead averages about 148 cm of snow, 941 mm of rain, roughly 100 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 110 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
