Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Yamhill, Oregon
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Regarding areas Interlock Roofing could have improved on during the project, I would say to have more crew to get the job done faster. That is what I can think of right at the moment. Overall, it is probably the best-looking roof I've ever seen, and it sticks out in the whole neighborhood. I get a lot of compliments.
It was a good experience, we got the information we needed. The team that worked on the roof were professional and worked quickly to complete the job. They also cleaned up after the installation, we were very pleased. We are so pleased that we found out about Interlock Roofing online. We have noticed that it seems like it is cooler in our home when it is hot outside than it was before we got the metal roofing. We highly recommend an Interlock Metal Roofing Roof above any other kind of roof.
It's the best looking roof that I've ever seen. Who would have thought one could be really happy about a roof.
They could have improved with the addition of an onsite port a potty so they don't have to come in the house.. It was great, great job!
The warehouse could have gotten the right supplies and the correct amount to us to finish the job. As it was, the installers had to return later than they expected. They still did a great job though with the supplies on hand.
We already have. They were really good and had it done in 3 or 4 days. They came back asap to take care of the leak. They were excellent all the way around. They were all three excellent. Michael setting things up and the perks he was able to offer us. He spent a lot of time with us. The guys that came did a great job. Other people were here lonely 5 minutes and the price comparison was better to go with Interlock and my father-in-law used them as well. Interlock was very thorough and very prompt. Once they started they were great, I cannot recommend them enough!
They could have improved the pricing.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Yamhill
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Yamhill, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Yamhill.
How does metal roofing handle Yamhill's heavy rainfall and wet winters?
Four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed water immediately, and the overlapping seams prevent leaks even in Yamhill's average 1208 mm of annual rainfall. Unlike asphalt, which absorbs water and degrades, aluminum's non-porous surface and self-healing oxide layer remain impervious. When installed to spec over a solid deck with underlayment, the system functions identically to asphalt in sound and performance—no water intrusion, no saturation risk during the region's wet months.
Why doesn't aluminum roofing rust like steel, and does that matter in Oregon?
Aluminum contains no iron, so rusting is physically impossible. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopically thin oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, protecting the metal underneath permanently. In wet climates, this matters enormously: steel corrodes progressively, requiring maintenance or replacement; aluminum simply doesn't. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both panel sides adds 30-year protection against chalking and fading, giving Yamhill homeowners a roof immune to the oxidation that degrades other metals over decades of rain and freeze-thaw cycling.
Can my house support a metal roof, or do I need structural work?
No structural reinforcement is needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it adds negligible load to your framing. The Shingle profile weighs only 0.41 lb/sq ft. Because aluminum panels are so light, they install directly over most existing asphalt roofs without tearoff or additional bracing, saving thousands in labor and disposal costs while meeting ICC-ES ESR-1790 building code requirements for Yamhill County.
Will metal roofing stay on during Yamhill's winter windstorms?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Yamhill experiences typical gusts around 120 km/h (75 mph), well below that threshold, so winter storms pose no risk. The mechanical interlock at all four edges of each panel creates a unified system that distributes wind load across the entire roof, preventing individual panel lift-off that can occur with fastened or single-lock designs.
What's the hail rating on metal roofing, and could it lower my insurance?
Interlock aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium reductions for impact-rated metal roofs. Given Yamhill's freeze-thaw cycle (about 37 days per year) that can weaken asphalt shingles over time, a non-degrading, Class 4-rated metal roof often qualifies for measurable insurance savings worth discussing with your carrier.
Do reflective metal roofs actually save money on cooling in Oregon?
Yes, measurably. energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55, reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into the attic. Over Yamhill's 3033 annual sunshine hours, this reflection reduces cooling load during warm months and summer peaks. The savings compound year after year; over a 40-year lifespan (with the Guardian's one-time 50-year transfer), the cumulative energy benefit can justify the upfront cost difference versus asphalt, especially as energy costs rise.
How long does a metal roof actually last, and what does the warranty cover?
The Guardian Warranty provides a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—and transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion. Most Interlock roofs outlast 50 years in service. Combined with the 30-year Alunar coating warranty against chalking and fading, a metal roof installed in your home today becomes the last roof you'll buy, and the next owner receives decades of protection too.
How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?
Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade under UV and Yamhill's 37 annual freeze-thaw cycles, or wood shake, which rots and splits, aluminum doesn't curl, crack, rot, or require sealing. Asphalt roofs demand regular inspections, moss removal, and eventual full replacement; tile roofs need broken-piece replacement and repointing. Interlock aluminum sheds debris naturally, never absorbs moisture, and is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, allowing you to budget for other home priorities instead.
What does metal roofing actually look like—and can it match my home's style?
Interlock manufactures five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile, each available in multiple colors to replicate traditional materials authentically. The Slate profile suits contemporary or farmhouse designs; Cedar Shingle and Shake suit historic or cottage aesthetics; Mediterranean Tile suits Spanish or European homes; Standing Seam suits modern or industrial styles. Each profile installs identically, using four-way interlocking panels and the same non-rusting aluminum alloy, so your choice is purely aesthetic. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has been serving the region since 1997 and can show local installations matching your architectural style.
Is a metal roof worth the higher upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Over the roof's full lifespan, yes. An asphalt roof lasts 15–25 years and requires replacement, disposal costs, and labor repeated two to three times in 50 years; a metal roof lasts 50+ years with zero replacement cycles. Factoring in the Guardian's lifetime coverage, the Alunar 30-year coating warranty, energy savings from reflective coatings, potential insurance discounts, and the avoided tearoff-to-landfill cycle, a metal roof's total cost of ownership is lower. Right now, Interlock Metal Roofing is offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, making the upfront investment even more manageable for Yamhill homeowners.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Yamhill’s climate?
Yes. Yamhill averages about 29 cm of snow, 1208 mm of rain, roughly 37 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 120 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
