Review: June 10, 2016

Everything was great. I would've gone with them, but if you want people to buy your roof, your interest rate is ridiculous. The salesman was a great guy and the company gave me a discount, but I couldn't see paying a 12.9% interest rate for 15 years. That's something you should work on or you would have had me.

Review: April 7, 2016Completion: February 29, 2016

During installation there are a lot of small metal shards littering the yard. They were in the bushes, flowers, on our deck, and in the grass. I even found some on the driveway and could of easily punctured a tire. The only time they were cleaned up was at the end instead of every day. We have dogs and they were at rick of cutting their paws during the entire installation. They should have covered bushes and should have tried harder to ensure a safer environment during installation. This would have been a bigger issue with young children. They cleaned up at the end and after making them walk around multiple times we signed off. Though even a month later I can still find one.

Review: March 28, 2016

The interesting thing, and it still irritates me, is the estimate form looked like something I would've expected out of a company that started 3-4 weeks ago.

Review: December 11, 2015Completion: November 21, 2015

There could have been more communication regarding the changes that we wanted to make mid-way through the project. My roofing crew was great.

Review: October 9, 2015Completion: September 12, 2015

There was a slight miscommunication regarding location of the roof vents. We sort of had to guess how to get it fixed. Fortunately your customer service was very responsive and got the issue straightened out same day.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Coventry

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Coventry, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Coventry.

Will a metal roof hold up through Rhode Island's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes. Aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but it won't crack, curl, or split the way asphalt and wood do. Coventry experiences about 80 freeze-thaw days per year—exactly the condition that degrades conventional roofing. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and four-way interlocking panels accommodate seasonal movement without structural stress. The Guardian lifetime warranty explicitly covers cracking and splitting, giving you protection through decades of Rhode Island winters.

How does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice in Coventry?

The smooth, hard aluminum surface naturally sheds snow and prevents ice dam buildup. Coventry averages about 75 cm of snow annually, and the interlocking panel system—engineered to resist wind gusts up to 125 km/h—maintains structural integrity under snow load. Metal's light weight (the Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) won't strain your framing. Optional snow guards can be installed if you prefer controlled shedding. The solid deck and underlayment prevent ice melt from penetrating seams, unlike asphalt where thaw cycles cause leaks.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing?

Aluminum contains no iron, so rusting is chemically impossible. When exposed, a microscopic oxide layer forms instantly and self-heals when scratched. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides of every panel) provides a second barrier against salt air and acidic rain. Coventry receives about 1264 mm of rain annually—plenty of exposure—yet aluminum's dual protection system means no rust stains, no deterioration, and no structural weakness. The 30-year coating warranty confirms durability across wet New England climates.

Can my roof structure handle metal roofing, or do I need reinforcement?

No reinforcement needed. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most homes' existing framing was designed to handle traditional tile, so aluminum installs directly over your current roof without added support costs. The four-way interlocking system distributes loads evenly across the deck. Installing over an existing roof also saves tear-off labor and eliminates one asphalt-shingle dumpster trip to the landfill. This efficiency makes retrofit projects faster and cleaner.

Does metal roofing leak in Coventry's heavy rain?

No. The four-way interlocking panels, solid deck, and premium underlayment create a sealed system. Coventry's annual rainfall of 1264 mm drains across overlapped seams before water reaches the deck. The Guardian warranty covers leakage—the only proof you need that this design works. Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade with each wet freeze-thaw cycle (Coventry averages 80 per year), metal panels remain watertight because they don't absorb moisture or develop cracks. Gutters and flashing installed to the ICC-ES ESR-1790 standard eliminate edge vulnerabilities.

Will metal roofing stay attached during New England windstorms?

Yes. The warranty covers wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), and Coventry's typical peak gusts reach 125 km/h—well within design limits. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors on all four edges, creating a unified membrane that resists uplift. When installed to the ICC-ES ESR-1790 specification, fasteners are engineered to distribute wind load across the entire roof. Hurricanes and nor'easters with sustained gusts in this range regularly pass over aluminum roofs without failure—a track record since 1998.

What happens if hail hits my metal roof?

Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 testing exceeds insurance-industry hail standards, often qualifying homeowners for premium discounts. Rhode Island insurance agents recognize this rating because aluminum's hardness and elasticity absorb impact without denting permanently or cracking. The impact resistance doesn't fade over time (it's covered for the material's lifetime under The Guardian), so your home remains insurable at favorable rates for decades. Contact your insurer about discounts when you upgrade.

Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

Yes. energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they bounce heat away rather than absorb it the way asphalt does. Coventry receives about 3075 sunshine hours annually—substantial exposure to solar gain. Cool Roof Rating Council data shows metal reflects more infrared than dark shingles, lowering peak attic temperatures and reducing air-conditioning load. While New England summers are mild, this efficiency compounds year after year. Combined with the 30-year coating warranty, the reflective finish pays for itself through lower utility bills.

How long will a metal roof last, and what's the warranty?

The Guardian lifetime limited warranty covers the original owner for life and transfers to the next owner for 50 years from installation—nearly two generations of protection. Most asphalt roofs need replacement every 15–20 years; Interlock has been manufactured since 1998 and installed from coastal homes to Antarctica, proving durability across extreme climates. Coventry's 80 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 1264 mm rain are standard wear, not accelerated aging. The warranty is non-prorated, meaning material defects cost nothing to repair or replace. This is genuinely the last roof you'll buy for your home.

Who installs Interlock Metal Roofing in Coventry?

Is a metal roof a good choice for Coventry’s climate?

Yes. Coventry averages about 75 cm of snow, 1264 mm of rain, roughly 80 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 125 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
