Critical: Professionalism, Responsiveness My husband and I purchased a home with an existing Interlock roof from his parents this past year. The roof has been fine, we have no issues. However, we are looking to add an addition to our home and because interlock requires their staff to perform all work on the roof because of the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty we contacted them regarding this. My husband has attempted to reach Interlock for the past 1-2 months with out any call back from anyone. He just keeps getting the front desk secretary that answers the phone and takes the message. He has even requested to speak with the supervisor of the Sharon branch, but again with no call back. I have never experienced such a terrible customer service experience from a company. I do not recommend pursuing a metal roof with Interlock for the fear that if you had a problem with your roof, you may not get in touch with anyone to repair it. If you do proceed with Interlock, prepare yourself to have to call them multiple times per day every day. Update: I received a call back from Interlock today after receiving my google review. Thankfully, they have begun to work on my outstanding issue. Service: Roof installation

Well, I stand corrected. First I want to apologize for the tone of my last email. I was anticipating a high pressure sales pitch, and dealing with some health issues at present, I was in no mood to deal with being pressured to buy something. Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised with Michael. Although he presented a good argument of why and how Interlock was a good roof product, at no time did my wife or I feel pressured into buying your product. Also, as I've been burned a couple of times in the past, I made it a personal rule that I NEVER sign a contract on first meeting. As you can see, apparently I broke my own rule in this case, as my wife and I had already researched other roof products and it appeared that Interlock was a reputable company with many favorable reviews. Also, much of our opinion was based in no small measure in the way Michael Baldassari presented himself, the company, and the product. Having said this, we look forward with anticipation to showing off our new roof and are hopeful that others in our neighborhood will appreciated the beauty and benefits of an Interlock all metal roof as well.

Review: November 15, 2016 Completion: August 30, 2016

I first found out about Interlock metal roofs when I visited one of our customer's homes and noticed the gorgeous roof...I asked her who installed it for her and she told me it was a metal roof by Interlock. The roof on my house was in very bad shape and I was shopping for a new roof and I put Interlock at the top of my list. Upon doing some research, I realized that an Interlock roof was going to cost me quite a bit more than a conventional shingled roof and I was bummed that it may be out of my budget, so I got several quotes on conventional shingles before I finally decided to contact Interlock and get an accurate quote. From the first contact with the Interlock sales rep, Jeff Smith, I could tell that Interlock was a company that operated at a far higher level than any other home improvement companies I have come in contact with...Jeff was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and prepared! He conducted himself in a professional manner and took the time to ask lots of questions about my goals for the house and roof, he took accurate measurements so he could provide me with an accurate quote and while he was preparing his quote (on the spot), he had me watch an informational video on his iPad that outlined all of the benefits of an Interlock roof (Lifetime Warranty, hail resistant, wind resistant, Energy efficient, snow slides off, etc., etc.). By the end of the video, I was 100% convinced that the product is amazing and I knew it was the roof I wanted...but, I was still nervous that it would be waaayyy out of my budget. I told Jeff of my concerns and he presented me with the quote....which, as I suspected, was almost 2.5 times more than a conventional shingle roof. Once I got over my initial sticker shock, I thought about all the value that I would be getting...Lifetime Warranty, hail resistant, wind resistant, Energy efficient, snow slides off, etc., etc. and the decision became much easier...then, to make it even easier, Interlock offered me great financing which fit my budget perfectly! How could I say no? The roof was installed about 2 months ago and it looks AWESOME!! I am very happy with the decision to spend the extra money for a high quality product and I've already recommended Interlock to multiple people...including my brother who is an architect for high-end homes and he was so impressed with the quality that he's been recommending Interlock roofs to his clients!

Review: May 16, 2016 Completion: August 18, 2021

It has been a year since I had my Interlock roof installed and I have meant to write this letter. I am glad I waited because I discovered additional advantages to the roof system by Interlock. I initially was impressed by the planning. Mr. Baldassari explained the roof, brought samples, how it would be installed on my house and interface with existing gutters. He also provided local addresses of Interlock roofs that I could view which was very helpful. During the planning process, he recommended changes I may not have thought of but would eliminate future costs and problems. In my case, he recommended the replacement of several failing skylights which I would purchase but be installed at no charge. The job went smoothly. The crew showed up early and stayed late, answered all my questions, leaving a clean, organized job site at the end of each day. The attention to detail was impressive. The house was a complex roof with several skylights, vents, and a masonry chimney. There was also a large barn and outbuilding, Demetri, one of the crew, reinstalled a large weathervane on the barn assuring me if he installed it, it would never come off. I was happy with the roof install. Since the installation, I have found additional benefits. Because my roof had not failed completely the Interlock roof was able to be installed over the existing roof eliminating the cost of strip off and keeping all the asphalt shingles out of the landfill. I also reduced my insurance risk; one of the considerations was the high wind rating. I live in a hurricane high wind zone for insurance coverage. The deductible was about equal to a new asphalt roof if I put a new conventional roof on replacement cost is not covered, and they prorate it and give you even less as the roof ages, so you basically have no roof insurance. I feel I do not have that problem now with the Interlock roof due to the high wind rating and " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty. I have just retired, and this gives me a great peace of mind, a lifetime durable roof. I also lowered my insurance cost as now all buildings have a class “A” fire rating on the roof. The roof qualified for federal energy credits and meets “Energy Star” ratings, so I saved money on taxes. My energy costs are lower; the roof reflects summer heat keeping the attic cooler reducing air conditioning costs. My attic is vented to outside and uninsulated, so there is no advantage to heating. This roof also eliminates " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams due to its design, and while many homes had ice dams and water damage to the interior of the house last winter, I had no formation of ice dams and no damage at all, an unexpected bonus. I do not notice any noise from rain or weather an initial concern I had. I live on a busy street and have people stop to compliment on the roof (aged " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">copper) and get information which I am happy to give. I have a more beautiful home, peace of mind, and will never have to re-roof.

Review: August 12, 2012 Completion: June 24, 2013

Dear Interlock: It has been a couple of months since the installation of my Interlock roof was completed, and two neighborhood endorsements have been forthcoming in that period. First, neighbors have commented about how good it looks, and second, they have commented on the daily cleanup done by the installation crew. I heartily endorse my neighbors’ comments. The cleanup factor really became evident shortly after when a conventional shingle roof was installed a few houses away by a local contractor. Materials were staged in front of the house rather than out of sight in the rear, and the place looked like a mess until the job was completed. As you are aware, the design of my house coupled with the prior construction of an addition across the length of the rear presented unusual challenges. While aluminum shingles could be used on the front, the slope of the back required an installation of Interlock’s membrane roof product. Further complicating the matter was a double roof in the rear with no ventilation of the void between the two roofs. Although you built a ventilation solution into the contract price, hidden construction issues once the work commenced on the rear necessitated redesigning the proposed ventilation solution. This could easily have been an opportunity for Interlock to take advantage of the situation, but the pricing of the change was handled by you and your office staff in a very fair manner. The extensive carpentry that became necessary did, I suspect, add the better part of a day to the job, yet the additional cost was nominal for the effort involved. As important as the pricing was to me, it was just as important and most gratifying to see the carpentry skills employed by the installation crew as they implemented the changes. The one concern my wife had in going with a metal roof was noise during a rainstorm, and some severe weather has shown that noise is not a problem. Also, as everyone is aware, July broke heat records, yet my home’s interior has been more comfortable thanks to the reflectivity of the roof. In conclusion, I am very pleased with the outcome.

Review: September 16, 2007 Completion: July 24, 2007

The Interlock Roofing System installed on our home has changed the entire look of the building. It has made the house stand out from the other homes on the street. I am happy to say that the new roof has met or surpassed all that we had hoped for. Not only has it improved the look of the house, but, as you mentioned, it has lowered the temperature of the second floor during the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot summer months. The snow catchers placed on the front porch look as decorative as well as functional. It is comforting to know as I approach retirement age, that I will never have the expense of replacing the roof again, nor will I have to worry about leaks in the future. I would also like to comment on the work team that did the installation. I have never had a contractor come in and work as hard as they did. They basically worked from dawn to dusk. I was amazed that they were able to complete the job in about two and a half days, especially considering that they had to redo all the sheathing on our roof. I thank you and your workers for a job well done.

I am writing to let you know how very pleased my husband and I are with our new Interlock roof. We can't believe how very classy our house looks now. It has gone from just another house on the street to "Wow!, look at that house". We can't tell you how many people have stopped on the side of the road to check out our new roof. We have received many complements. We were amazed at how quickly the installation was from start to finish. The yard was cleaned up each and every day at the end of the work day. You wouldn't even of known that we were in the middle of having our roof done. We couldn't be happier that we have decided to invest in the Interlock Roofing. It is something that will last us a lifetime and one less thing that we will have to worry about later on. We will and have recommended Interlock roofing to anyone in need of a replacement or a new roof.

We just had the completion of our new roof. We are happy at how professional the job looks, and how the Interlock material gives the house a different look. It's a very good looking rich roof, we love the way the aluminum pieces interlock each other and make the house look so different than the other roofs. Many of the neighbors have stopped to look at the roof all are impressed how good and nice it looks. The workers were professional, hard workers and fast, and they cleaned up every night. We are very happy and pleased with the decision we made. Finally we do not have to worry about the roof any more.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Peck Corner

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Peck Corner, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Peck Corner.

Will a metal roof hold up through Rhode Island's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes. Peck Corner experiences roughly 83 freeze-thaw days per year, and aluminum's non-porous oxide layer eliminates the water-absorption problem that cracks asphalt and wood shingles. Unlike materials that expand and contract unevenly as ice forms and melts, roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum maintains its dimensional stability across temperature swings. The 30-year Alunar coating (ASTM D4214 measured) stays flexible and protective through repeated seasonal cycling, preventing the chalking and brittleness that degrades conventional roofing within 15-20 years.

How does a metal roof handle the snow loads and ice dams common around here?

Four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed snow and ice efficiently because the smooth surface and proper pitch prevent water pooling that creates ice dams. Peck Corner averages about 76 cm of snow annually; metal roofing's light weight—the Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft—means no structural reinforcement is needed and the roof handles accumulated snow without strain. Snow guards can be added to control slide-off. The interlocking design prevents wind from lifting panels during freeze-thaw cycles and wet-snow events common in Bristol County.

With 1200 mm of rain per year in this area, how leak-proof is a metal roof?

Completely sealed. Peck Corner receives about 1,198 mm of rain annually, and the four-way interlocking aluminum panel design overlaps each edge so water is mechanically directed downslope and cannot penetrate seams. ICC-ES ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) certifies the system's water-tightness under building code rainfall tests. Installation over a solid deck with underlayment creates a secondary barrier; when properly installed to spec, metal roofing is among the most leak-resistant systems available. The Guardian warranty even covers perforation damage, giving homeowners unmatched peace of mind during heavy downpours.

Can a metal roof survive the coastal wind gusts that hit Rhode Island?

Yes. Peck Corner's typical wind gusts reach about 118 km/h; Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec. The four-way interlocking profile creates mechanical locking at every edge so panels cannot be lifted or separated during storms. UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating and ESR-1790 certification confirm structural integrity in high-wind zones. Local installer Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served this region since 1999 and understands Bristol County's seasonal wind patterns, ensuring installation meets or exceeds your area's wind requirements.

What's the hail rating, and could it lower my homeowner's insurance?

Interlock metal roofing holds UL 2218 Class 4, the highest available impact rating, and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible aluminum construction qualifies for Class A fire classification and meets ICC-ES ESR-1790 structural standards, both factors insurers recognize. Some carriers offer premium discounts for Class 4 roofing; contact your agent with the UL 2218 listing number (Intertek 33876) to ask. Given Peck Corner's ~3,050 sunshine hours annually and typical regional hail exposure, a durable Class 4 roof can pay back its premium difference through lower insurance costs over the roof's 50+ year lifespan.

Do I need to reinforce my house's frame for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so even older homes withstand metal roofing without additional framing. The Slate profile is lighter still. This weight advantage means installation typically occurs over your existing roof (asphalt, wood, or tile), eliminating costly tear-off labor and landfill fees. Peck Corner's building department recognizes ICC-ES ESR-1790 (reissued 2025), which certifies the system's suitability for residential structures. Fewer structural demands also mean faster installation and lower total project cost.

How much upkeep does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal requires minimal maintenance. Unlike asphalt shingles that degrade within 15-20 years and wood shakes that split and rot in Peck Corner's 83 annual freeze-thaw days and ~1,200 mm rainfall, aluminum panels resist splitting, cracking, and rot by design. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, so repainting is not required. Occasional debris removal and gutter cleaning (same as any roof) is all that's needed. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance requirements. The Guardian lifetime limited warranty covers these failure modes, ensuring you'll never pay to replace a rotted shake or repair stress cracks from weather cycling.

What's the lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and what does the warranty actually cover?

The Guardian lifetime limited warranty for the original owner is non-prorated and covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—the entire failure spectrum of conventional roofing. This warranty is one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. With aluminum's inherent non-corrosion, the Alunar 30-year coating, and four-way locking preventing wind damage, most Interlock roofs last 50+ years in residential service. Manufactured since 1998 and installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations, the product's track record matches the warranty's promise. In a region with 76 cm of annual snow and 118 km/h wind gusts, this durability translates to a genuine last-roof-you-buy investment.

Will an Interlock metal roof help lower cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, reducing cooling demand. Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms measurable energy savings. Peck Corner receives about 3,050 sunshine hours annually; on summer days, a reflective metal roof stays cooler than dark asphalt, lowering air-conditioning use. The lightweight aluminum also eliminates thermal mass penalties of heavy tile or slate. Savings vary by color choice, HVAC efficiency, and insulation, but energy-efficiency qualification means you're meeting strict federal efficiency standards. Over a 50-year lifespan, reflected heat and reduced cooling costs compound into meaningful utility savings, especially as regional temperatures trend upward.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?

Installation typically completes in days to a few weeks depending on roof size and weather; Peck Corner's ~1,198 mm annual rainfall may require scheduling around wet forecasts. Yes, Interlock panels install directly over most existing asphalt, wood, or tile roofs, eliminating tear-off labor and landfill costs. The extraordinary light weight—Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft—means no structural reinforcement and faster fastening. Local installer Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served Bristol County since 1999 and understands regional permitting and seasonal constraints. Current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. Contact the installer for a site assessment and timeline specific to your home.
