Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Review: May 17, 2017

Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

Review: May 17, 2017

We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.

Review: May 16, 2017

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!

Review: May 16, 2017

First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, The installation was terrific. Jessie and his crew were very nice, polite, and clean and worked together like a well-oiled machine. If I was to have work done on my home for any type of project, this is the team I would recommend and would want to work on my house. Greg Weber, my sales representative, answered all my questions, set the proper expectations, and over delivered in every aspect. We had a major rainstorm shortly after the installation, and we noticed no difference in sound at all. Our Interlock roof is the talk of the neighborhood.

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.

Review: May 16, 2017

We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.

In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!

Review: April 25, 2017

We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sylvan Mounds

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sylvan Mounds, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sylvan Mounds.

How does a metal roof handle Sylvan Mounds' heavy snow and freeze-thaw winters?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow efficiently and resist the damage that freeze-thaw cycling causes to asphalt and wood. With about 86 cm of snow and roughly 87 freeze-thaw days per year in Jefferson County, your roof endures constant expansion and contraction; aluminum's non-corrosive oxide layer and uniform thermal properties prevent the cracking, curling, and splitting that plague traditional materials over time. The panels' smooth profiles (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, and Tile) create natural slide paths, reducing ice-dam buildup, and the four-way lock system prevents panel separation in freeze cycles.

Why won't an aluminum metal roof rust in Wisconsin winters?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and degrades. Instead, aluminum forms a protective oxide layer that heals itself when scratched, meaning winter salt spray and moisture cause no corrosion. The 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 roofing-grade alloy (ASTM B209) used in Interlock panels, combined with the 30-year Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both sides, provides dual defense against the 788 mm of annual rainfall and freeze-thaw stress your roof absorbs. After 27 years of installations from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations, zero rust failures have been documented.

Can a metal roof withstand Sylvan Mounds wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), far exceeding typical Jefferson County gusts that peak around 95 km/h. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This engineering, combined with ICC-ES ESR-1790 code compliance, means your roof won't lift, separate, or flutter even in the strongest seasonal storms. The lock system also prevents wind-driven rain from entering panel seams.

Does metal roofing hold up to hail, and can it lower my insurance?

Interlock aluminum roofing achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible, Class A fire-rated material (when specified) often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because claims for impact, fire, and wind damage drop dramatically. The lightweight panels (Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft) install without structural reinforcement, further reducing liability costs for insurers. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and ESR-1790 code report to explore available premium reductions.

What's the warranty on Interlock metal roofing, and how long will it last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's one-time transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion—a rare advantage if you sell your home. Combined with the 30-year Alunar coating warranty against chalking and fading, Interlock roofs routinely outlast 3–4 asphalt cycles over 50+ years. No other roofing material offers this transferability, making it a permanent asset that adds confidence to your property's resale timeline.

Is metal roofing worth the cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over 50 years, metal roofing is the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years, meaning two to three tearoffs and reinstalls before a metal roof reaches mid-life. The direct costs—labor, disposal, new materials—add $15,000–$25,000 per cycle; aluminum avoids this entirely. The Guardian Warranty's non-prorated coverage and 50-year transfer term mean you're investing in a permanent structure, not a consumable. Energy savings from energy-efficient colors (solar reflectance up to 0.55) also reduce cooling costs in Wisconsin's roughly 3,093 annual sunshine hours, compounding the financial advantage.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need in Wisconsin?

Interlock aluminum roofs require virtually no maintenance beyond clearing gutters after fall leaf drop and removing heavy snow if desired for safety. Unlike asphalt (which degrades from UV and thermal cycling), wood shakes (which rot, split, and invite moss in 788 mm of annual rain), or clay tile (which cracks in freeze cycles), aluminum's non-corrosive, non-combustible nature and sealed interlocking panels eliminate the need for resealing, repainting, or periodic inspections. The CALGreen-verified design delivers reduced-maintenance performance. Most owners report zero service calls over decades, making this a set-and-forget investment in 87 freeze-thaw days per year.

Can you install metal roofing over my existing asphalt roof?

Yes. Interlock's ultralight profiles—Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft and Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—install directly over most existing roofs without structural reinforcement. The local installer, serving the region since 2001, can assess your framing in a site visit; in nearly all residential cases, the existing decking and trusses handle the negligible added load. Installation typically takes 3–7 days depending on roof size and complexity. Installing over your current roof eliminates tear-off costs and landfill waste while speeding your project timeline.

Is aluminum roofing environmentally responsible?

Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end-of-life and requires zero tear-off waste on new installations when applied over existing roofs. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, generate over 11 million tons of landfill waste annually in North America. Aluminum's durability—lasting 50+ years versus 15–20 for asphalt—means one Interlock roof replaces 2–3 petroleum-based alternatives. The 30-year coating warranty and permanent transferable warranty eliminate premature disposal cycles. For homeowners in Jefferson County facing 788 mm of rain and 86 cm of snow annually, choosing a 50-year roof ends the install-replace-landfill treadmill and measurably reduces your material footprint.

What profile options does Interlock offer for Sylvan Mounds homes?

Interlock manufactures five distinct profiles: Slate (clean, geometric lines), Cedar Shingle (traditional staggered look), Shake (rustic dimensional texture), Standing Seam (modern, crisp vertical ribs), and Mediterranean Tile (curved barrel-tile aesthetic). Each replicates its namesake material in appearance while delivering aluminum's non-corrosive, lightweight, impact-resistant performance. All five profiles achieve four-way interlocking and the same ICC-ESR-1790 code compliance, UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating, and 120 mph wind warranty. Your choice is pure aesthetics—select the profile that matches your home's character while enjoying identical durability across 50+ years and 87 freeze-thaw cycles per year in Wisconsin.
