1. Be sure that crews communicate with the client when they will or will not be returning to the job site.2) Make certain any specific requirements that might be outside of the "typical" roof replacement are communicated to the installation crew (ie. the extra snow guards for solar panel tie-downs and the care required to locate them.3) Make certain the installation process leaves any adjustments to existing siding in the same state as original. This may mean specific provisions for extra care or automatically have on hand replacement siding. The sales representative emphasized that the interlock installation was carefully designed to provide a particularly weather proof interface in this area. If this is true, the installation should take extra care in this area. Interest has been expressed in our roof. We were asked how individual shingles could be permanent roofing. When we explained they were metal shingles, eyes light up. I am sure this will lead to further sales. The quiet young lad in charge of the installation crew the first couple of days was excellent. He seemed to know his work, had excellent leadership skills, and had the crew working well together. The rushed job to complete lead to dissatisfaction in some of the final work.

Installation Crew

★★★☆☆ Neutral
“During the beginning of the project, the installation sub contractor was OK. After two days, the crew failed to show up on the following Saturday when they had been expected and no courtesy call informed us of their intended absence. This happened a second time on the following Tuesday. We stayed home for two days specifically because the crew was expected to be working.”

Quality Of Workmanship

★★★☆☆ Neutral
“Work directly with the roofing material was satisfactory; however, there were a few other issues of concern:1) In two areas where siding removal and trimming was required, the crews did not seem to take the care and time required to remove, trim and reapply the siding. Considerable breakage occurred and a number of nail holes were placed in mid-panel of the siding for no apparent reason.2) Greg had advised that tie-downs for a summer pool solar panel would be replaced with snow guards to avoid holes in the roofing material. These would be placed in the same locations as existing tie-downs. This was discussed on site in more than one occasion but the final snow guard locations, while being usable, did not come very close to the original tie-downs. More direct written instructions from interlock roofing to the installation crew would have helped in this area. I have also found since the job was completed, that one of those specific snow guards is only attached with a single screw when three are usually used.”

Clean & Safe

★★☆☆☆ Disagree
“On the final day, the crew at the time seemed very rushed to get away. I lent them ratchet straps for their ladder (have not seen them since). They left a variety of small bits of debris around the yard. It only took us about 15 minutes to collect; however, they seemed sure they had everything.even though debris included an empty drink can that was very obvious!”

Professional Completion

★★★☆☆ Neutral
“The rushed cleanup and the damaged siding were not satisfactory. The installation manager from Maritime Permanent Roofing had to purchase siding and spend an entire day replacing damaged siding before the job was satisfactory to him and ourselves.”
