Why we chose Interlock Roofing for our new roof

Edmonton, Alberta

We had purchased our home in the autumn of 1984 and in 2005 had a new asphalt roof installed.  From day one our deck was always covered with particles from those shingles. These were so called 25 year guaranteed shingles which didn’t last 10 years but we waited a couple of extra years.  We delved into the world of re-roofing and were surprised at the cost of what a new roof would cost (whether it was a tar shingled roof or a metal roof), and their warranties.

My wife was playing Mah-jongg on her iPad and an advertisement for AlbertasBestRoof.com showed up on her screen and she asked for an estimate to do our roofs (house and 2 car garage).  We were approached by Derek Bryer, a consultant for this company and he explained the differences in various roof products that were available in and outside of the company.

After the tar shingles fiasco, my wife and I already determined to go the way of a metal roof.

The night before the crew was to show up they called and said what time they would arrive in the morning.  They showed up on time at 0730 hrs (730 AM) and were finished by 1815 hrs (615 PM).  The crew was very professional and gave us an idea of what they were doing and went to work.  There were 4 in the crew and they worked as a very efficient team and the job flowed smoothly.  They also ensured that we had proper venting in the garage as there never was any venting.  They did a great clean up job and didn’t disturb any plants around the house.  They were exceedingly professional.

On July 20 the night they finished a storm rolled through and low and behold in the morning no grit on our deck or patio furniture and our water barrel had clear clean water in it (yeah!!  for the flowers and garden).  We are very pleased with the product as our house looks great and what a great future investment.

2 years later and our roof still looks brand new, and we love it

Whitecourt, Alberta

For anyone considering purchasing an Interlock Roof:

Please know Dave and I purchased a roof for our home from Interlock in July 2014.

The roof was installed April 2015. The roof is absolutely beautiful, the installers were amazing (our home is an arch rib so is almost all roof) with their agility and ability as they worked and walked on our roof like monkeys.

Everyone from our salesman Derek the office gal Shauna to Janar and his crew was very professional and experienced in their field. Please feel free to show our roof to anyone interested in same. We would highly recommend this product and your installers to anyone we are so very happy we went with Interlock.

This is 2 years later and our roof still looks brand new, and we love it.

We had a small issue of rusty nails in the flashing and an issue with moisture in Feb 2017 with the unusual weather of warmth and cold. Within a day of contacting Interlock Janer was sent to assess and address the matter promptly.

Anyone who visits and sees our roof is impressed with the absolutely beautiful look of it.
We previously had a cedar shingle roof and thought this metal roof might be noisy when it rained but it is quieter than the shingles were.

Thank you Interlock, Derek, Shauna, and Janer and crew for the wonderful Quality and beautiful product; we are proud and grateful to be covered by Interlock.

No more debris from asphalt shingles accumulating in the gutters

North Battleford, Saskatchewan

We would like to share our experience with the Interlock Roofing System we purchased in the summer of 2016.

My wife and I live in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Our shingles needed replacing, and we looked at all options, but a metal roof was what we agreed on the most. We saw Interlock shingles on the internet and really liked how they looked.

We really want to emphasize the timeline that was involved in getting our new roof. As I we mentioned, we live in North Battleford. I knew the Interlock office was located in Calgary and the shingles made in British Columbia. Our first concern was the logistics of getting the work done when we were dealing with a company from another province. In the end, this did not matter at all.

Neil Wetherell came to our house on April 15 where more samples were shown, and we agreed on the style of the shingle. An estimate was given, more questions answered and the contract was signed. We found Neil to be knowledgeable, polite and not overly aggressive in selling the Interlock shingles. This was appreciated.

One week later we got a phone call from Shauna Cooper in Calgary. She was our main contact with the whole installation, and we can’t say enough about her. The communication was excellent and timely. The initial call with Shauna was her follow up with our meeting with Neil and letting us know the estimated date for starting the work. There were a few emails back and forth with Shauna, and they were always answered promptly.

We have an older character home which had an old brick chimney. We thought this would be a good time to get it removed. Neil didn’t want to commit that this could be done by Interlock, but Shauna made sure that it could. This was not in the initial estimate, but the price to have this removed was very reasonable.

The Interlock Shingles arrived on site May 15.

The installers gave us one day notice that they would be starting the work and on the morning of May 23rd, they arrived with a crew of four. The installers were nothing but professional. They were all there to work. All safety precautions were observed. They maintained a clean work site. They made time to answer questions I had. On May 24, through no fault of their own, they ran out of materials. They said they would be back in 6 or 7 days and sure enough, they arrived seven days later, and after 3 hours, all work was completed on June 3.

It’s been one year now, and these are some observations so far. The noise from rain is NOT a problem. There is no difference between asphalt or interlock shingles. One really nice surprise is we have the cleanest eavestroughs on the block! No more debris from asphalt shingles accumulating in the gutters. One thing to be aware of is where to place the snow guards. It is a metal roof, and the snow will fall down. Make sure they are placed properly where you want them.

We have no regrets and are very happy with our decision to go with Interlock Shingles. The cost of Interlock Shingles might be a shock to some people, but you have to realize that this is the last roof that you will ever get. The Interlock shingles really complement our home, and we are always getting compliments. I think that says a lot about Interlock Shingles.

Its totally changed the way people view my home. I’m getting all kinds of compliments.

Rosemont, Ontario

I saw a home on my street that looked so striking; I knocked on the door to ask where they got their roof. The homeowner, Sebastian said that he had researched for years to pick a roof that was a good fit for his family. He chose Interlock.
I called Interlock and was contacted by a salesperson – John. We had a wonderful experience with John’s visit. He was very knowledgeable about the product and was very thorough in his explanation of how the roofing system would be installed.
The installers were very good. They were polite, courteous, and respectful of our property. They kept it very clean. They answered all my questions about what they were doing throughout the installation process. We are so happy that they were able to fix the sag in the roof.
I will install another Interlock roof in a heartbeat on any home I own. Interlock is a great organization – the people are wonderful.
I only wish I had done it earlier. My house looks so nice now. It’s totally changed the way people view my home. I’m getting all kinds of compliments.

We have invested in an excellent product that is guaranteed for life

Campbell River, British Columbia

In May of this year, my husband and I purchased an Interlock Roofing System. We had met the Interlock representative, Randal at the local Home Show and made an appointment to learn more about the product.

We knew nothing about roofing prior to this experience – few people do. During his visit to our home, Randal walked us through the features and benefits of the complete range of roofing options—facts, statistics, cost comparisons, photographs. He answered our questions thoroughly and provided us with everything we needed to make an informed purchasing decision. We found Randal to be friendly, honest and trustworthy; listening to him was almost like receiving advice from a respected friend.

We have had our new roof for six months now and have often commented on the wisdom of our decision – most importantly, the comfort and security we feel knowing that we have invested in an excellent product that is guaranteed for life. The storms here can be wicked – as can be seen by the resulting damage trees, fences, and roofs.

Listening to the wind howl outside, I thought I would write this letter of support for your product, and for Randal. My husband and I are pleased to recommend Randal to anyone who is considering installing a new roof!

Sincerely,

Very professional salesman and we did not feel pressured at anytime

Victoria, British Columbia

Dear Sirs:

Just dropping you a letter to let you know how satisfied we are with the complete procedure of our dealing with your company. It started by reading your brochures and meeting with your salesman Randal at the Home Show at the Save On Centre in March. Upon speaking with Randal at the home show we set up an appointment with him to come to our home to speak to us and give us a quote for our roof. Having worked with salespeople all our lives in work and pleasure we found Randal to be a very professional salesman and we did not feel pressured at anytime. The roofing material was delivered and the installers notified us when they would be ready to start work on our roof. The installation took place as agreed upon. We have had great remarks from our neighbours stating that they were very impressed with the way the roofers worked… no loud music and no loud talking going on with the roofers while they worked. We agreed with them and had spoken between ourselves about the roofers quality of work ethics. Their clean-up was also excellent.

We are very happy with this Company and we will not hesitate to recommend them to anyone in the future. The roof we choose was Brown Slate and we love it and it looks great.

Yours Sincerely,
Very Happy People

We were constantly replacing blown off shingles

Parkland County, Alberta

Hi Neil,

Our home is not very old, and we were constantly replacing blown off shingles and in some sections, they were even starting to curl.  We decided to look into replacing it with a maintenance free shingle, which had an actual life expectancy of more than 13 years. We contacted a few metal roof companies, and Neil from Interlock was the first company to get back to us.  Even though it was already November, they were able to put us on their winter program, and by February our roof was replaced.  It only took them two days to do, and the roofers were very meticulous about collecting fallen material and nails, during their cleanup.  Our roof looks amazing!!! Every time we pull into our driveway, it looks like a brand new home.   Interlock is a Canadian company that installs their own product, so there is no risk that warranty work would be denied because it was not installed correctly.  This was one of the reasons we decided that they were the best option for us.  The only thing we wish we had done differently, was getting our shed done too.

Environmentally conscious new shingles

Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta

Dear Neil,

We are very pleased with our choice of environmentally conscious new shingles and they look great!  It was amazing to think that this was accomplished in just a little more than 24 hours from start to finish.

The installers were courteous and respectful of our belongings, letting us know to move one of our cars to ensure that there was no risk of debris falling into it. I would certainly recommend Interlock to any of my friends and neighbours, and I look forward to enjoying knowing that our roof is gorgeous and ready to handle any weather!

I did a lot of investigating and found that metal roofing is clearly the way to go

Sherwood Park, Alberta

Thank you Interlock.

We decided to go with Interlock Aluminum Shingles this year.  I did a lot of investigating and found that metal roofing is clearly the way to go.  I ended up choosing Interlock Roofing and I’m glad I did because it was such a positive experience.  They gave me a timeline and stuck to it. The crew arrived on time and they were polite and worked very hard to complete the job in just two days.  The foreman came out on day one to check on everything.  As the process was coming to completion I had many neighbors stop by and ask about the product and were very impressed.  Our goal was to get a great quality product that will last a long time and the fact that it looks incredible simply adds to the value of the house.  We were very pleased with the entire experience and would recommend this company and this product to anyone who asks.

Roof makes our home look brand new

Calgary, Alberta

Hi Neil

I just wanted to drop you a quick note about my experiences with our new roof installation.

The first thing is I believe the roof makes our home look brand new. It has really improved the look of our house.
The second thing is I can’t say enough about the fellows that installed it. Unfortunately, they had to work through some weather issues which caused some delays however they certainly did their best and the installation was still done on time.
The last thing is we had project supervisors come by on a regular basis to check on the progress.

All in all, I would recommend your company to anyone.

Thank you for everything!

Our roof looks beautiful and it’s a good investment for our home

Edmonton, Alberta

To Whom It May Concern:

We wanted a new roof put on our home before the winter season really sets in. We did a lot of research and it took time but wanted a good roof that would last a long time on our home. We saw an advertisement for Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems and gave them a call.

Edmonton Alberta Colonial Brown Interlock Slate RoofAfter contacting a very professional representative on the phone from Interlock Roofing and explained our roofing wants they sent out their sales representatives to our home. We were very impressed with the sales staff and they explained to us their roofing product in detail and their Lifetime Limited Warranty, and that was impressive. Along with an up to date computer tablet showing a video of their company and their roofing products.

They would put a lifetime roof on even in the winter conditions and to which they did. The roofing installers were very professional and well trained for their product installation and they had our roof on in one day. WOW! That was very impressive too and the roof looks fantastic and the installer crew did a great clean-up before they left.

The telephone communication with us also was very informative when the material was to be delivered and when the job was to be started and completed. Also, Interlock Roofing called back to us after the job was completed and asked how we like our new roof. We answered back a beautiful roof.

We would recommend Interlock Lifetime Roofing System to anyone in our neighbourhood that is looking for a new roof. Also, we have had many, people walking and driving by our home this winter looking and admiring our new roof.

Interlock Roofing System you met our roofing needs and our roof looks beautiful and it’s a good investment for our home. Thank you from us both to all of your professional associates and a great job well done.

We had some very high winds and rain…

Calgary, Alberta

I’m sending you this letter to let you know how pleased we are with our new roof.

Eswaldo and his crew arrived in a very timely fashion and proceeded to install the roof in a very professional manner. All our questions and concerns were answered and they worked long hours to do the installation before the weather deteriorated.

We were impressed that all of the boots around vents and pipes coming out of the roof were replaced with new ones and any sites of possible leaks were dealt with prior to installing the roof.

The roof itself looks very good and has made our home look much more appealing than the previous roof. We had some very high winds and rain a couple of nights ago and there were no problems with the roof. It was nice to listen to the wind and rain and not have to worry about leaks or asphalt shingles that might have been thinking about taking an unexpected trip to Saskatchewan.

Thanks again for a great job and a great product.

Kindest regards,

Noise of the rain on the aluminum roof is not much different from that of the asphalt shingles

Ottawa, Ontario

Dear Interlock,

My asphalt shingle roof was starting to curl and disintegrate after just ten years. Although I had considered metal the last time around, the cost seemed too high. This experience suddenly made it seem like the better choice.

Barry arrived on June 16 and delivered a wonderful presentation on the merits of Interlock aluminum products, reaffirming much of the information available on the internet. The price quoted was more or less as expected, although he did talk me out of the more expensive shake profile which featured in my plans. The one surprise was that my preferred colour, the aged copper, came at an added cost. It would have been helpful had the website indicated that it commanded a premium price.

The timeline was for installation anywhere from 2 to 7 weeks from signing. Provincial Foreman Tony advised me that the boxes of metal shingles and other materials would be delivered on June 27, but they actually arrived early the following morning.

Kelly headed up the crew who did the actual installation. He kept me advised about timing and let me know when illness delayed their arrival by a few days. They showed up as promised on July 7 and had about half the house done before noon, working very smoothly together as a team, with the underlayment completed. Note that the underlayment comes with its own 50-year warranty and claims that it can cover a roof for up to six months without protection. This may be standard but seems like good quality to me.

Cleanup was very good. The roof was completed on their second day of work, July 11, with a weekend of rain intervening. They also managed to do the entire garage roof (a separate building) the same day. The house roof is 17 squares, with the garage being another 7. Both are hip roof style.

Cleanup was again quite good – I followed around for the final look and didn’t spot anything. However, the next day a closer look around found several strips of the cut asphalt shingles on top of a hedge and in a flower bed (well hidden, in all fairness), along with a few small pieces of cut aluminum which might pose a hazard for some of the younger children who routinely pass through my yard. Yesterday I found two aluminum nails which came to light only after a decent rainfall. Disappointingly, some cut shingles were also left in the gutters which is a much greater problem for an older person, meaning me, to resolve.

Note that the noise of the rain on the aluminum roof is not much different from that of the asphalt shingles. Perhaps a slightly higher pitch, but the insulation in the attic and the fact that the old shingles were left on the roof under the aluminum perhaps helped to make it almost unnoticeable.

Two days was quite a bit less than the estimated five for the installation. No complaints on this front. From signing the contract to completion was less than four weeks, which ranks as excellent service.

Neighbours have been very complimentary about the appearance, with one opining that it’s the best-looking roof in the area.

At the end of the day, my house and garage have great looking roofs which should add value when the house is sold (not anytime soon) and will not require replacement for the remainder of my ownership. Interlock personnel all performed admirably, and I am pleased with the final result.

Thank you.

The biggest selling feature for us was the longevity of the roof

Kemptville Roof

Hi Barry,

Our roof has been completed for about a month now and we’re starting to feel settled in our new house. We are very happy with the results and the process taken to get there.

First of all, the crew was great. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these guys to anyone. They were really friendly and very hard working. The temperatures were in the low 30s for the entire week, but these guys were troopers and were very committed to the job. I was very impressed with their focus while enduring extreme heat, on a black roof with no escape from the sun. They did a great job and the work site was kept clean and tidy. Boxes and trash were removed daily and our home functioned as normal when work was completed for the day.

Most importantly, we are very impressed with the roof itself. We got exactly what we wanted, which was a sharp looking profile that would blend in with the architecture of the house. We didn’t want something flashy that would be the focal point of our property; however, since we started the process of educating ourselves on roofs, we’ve come to better appreciate this feature of a home. The Interlock slate shingles we chose are quite subtle and look much like a traditional roof, but a closer inspection reveals a sleek and attractive finish with well integrated flashing’s and vents. The ridge vents are essentially invisible.

The biggest selling feature for us was the longevity of the roof. We hope this investment will truly mean that this is our “last roof”. So far, Interlock has delivered on all its promises and we are very pleased with the choice we made. Thanks to you and your colleagues for the work you have done. The roof is a great addition to our home and we’re looking forward to many years of living under it.
