Puyallup, WA Lifetime Interlock Metal Roof Review (Installed 2004)

Puyallup, WA

TL;DR: Puyallup Review Summary

Roofing installation in Puyallup: the homeowner chose a lifetime Interlock Roof in 2004 to avoid future gutter and roof cleaning for their children after seeing it at the Western Washington Fair. Since installation the roof has had no problems, retains its original look without pressure washing or maintenance, is not intended to be walked on, and sheds snow in 1–3 inch slabs that slide off. They are very satisfied and glad they will never have to purchase another roof.
Matt P.

In 2004 my wife and I decided to purchase the lifetime Interlock Roof. I was fifty at the time and had been called over to my Father In Laws house several times to clean out his gutters and clean off his roof with a pressure washer. I told my wife I did not want our kids to have to do that for us in our later years. The situation with my in-laws provided the motivation to start the search for a permanent roof. We landed on the Interlock Roof at the Western Washington Fair in 2004. The roof was installed and have not had any problems afterwards. There are some idiosyncrasies with this type of roof:

  1. The roof is not made to be walked on
  2. When it snows the snow builds up for a 1 to 3-inch amount and then slides off the roof and onto the ground below
  3. The roof keeps its original look, never needs to be pressure washed off or any other maintenance.

We are very satisfied with the roof and very glad we will never have to purchase another roof again.

Top 10 Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Puyallup

Homeowners researching metal roofing in Puyallup often have several important questions before replacing their roof. Many people want to understand how metal roofing compares to traditional materials like asphalt shingles in terms of lifespan, durability, cost, and long-term value. Roofing decisions can also be influenced by local weather conditions. Homes in Puyallup may experience environmental factors such as rain, wind, snow, heat, fire, or seasonal storms that can impact roof performance over time. The following frequently asked questions help explain what homeowners should know when evaluating metal roofing and why many people choose durable roofing systems designed for long-term protection.

In Puyallup, a quality metal roof commonly lasts at least 50–75+ years, while asphalt shingles typically last 15–30 years depending on grade. Puyallup averages roughly 40–44 inches of rain annually with only light snow, and a maritime, humid climate that keeps roofs wet much of the October–March season. Heavy rainfall and coastal/moisture-driven humidity increase rot, moss growth, and corrosion risks for some materials, while occasional wind storms and limited snow loads make metal’s water-shedding and wind resistance valuable. That’s why homeowners choose durable systems—metal resists moss, sheds water and snow, and handles Puget Sound–area moisture better than asphalt. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use heavy-gauge aluminum and a lifetime limited 50-year transferable warranty designed for long-term protection.
In Puyallup, WA, metal roofing typically costs more upfront than asphalt shingles, reflecting material quality and installation complexity. Final price depends on roof size, slope, number of planes, penetrations (skylights, chimneys), tear-off needs, flashing details, and local labor rates. Regional construction factors—permitting, disposal fees, weather-related installation constraints, and proximity to suppliers—also affect cost. Many homeowners evaluate roofing choices by lifetime value rather than initial price; metal roofs often provide longer service life, lower maintenance, and fewer repairs, which can reduce total long-term replacement expense. Durable roofing systems may increase up-front costs but lower future repair and replacement outlays. Interlock Metal Roofing focuses on long-term ownership value and performance rather than competing as a low-cost roofing option.
Metal roofing typically lasts 40–70 years versus 15–25 years for asphalt shingles, so homeowners valuing longevity often choose metal. Metal needs less routine upkeep (periodic fastener/seal checks) while shingles require more frequent inspections, moss/algae cleaning, and replacement cycles. Metal is more durable against wind, heavy rain, and impact; asphalt is more prone to granule loss, blistering, and moss growth in damp conditions. Long-term value: metal has higher upfront cost but lower life‑cycle cost and better resale appeal for buyers seeking durability. Puyallup gets substantial annual rainfall (around 40–44 inches) and persistent humidity that encourage moss/algae on shaded roofs, while snowfall is usually light—these conditions favor low‑maintenance, moisture‑resistant roofing choices. Many homeowners who prioritize long‑term protection and curb appeal opt for Interlock Metal Roofing systems for their performance and architectural look.
This is a common myth in Puyallup, WA: metal roofs are noisy in rain. Modern residential metal roofs installed over solid decking, with proper underlayment, insulation and attic space, do not sound like barn roofs. Sound depends on the roof assembly—insulation, underlayment, ceiling material and an air gap or conditioned attic all reduce impact noise—and installation quality matters: fastener type, spacing and details affect noise and movement. Properly installed residential metal roofs are typically similar in sound to asphalt or tile roofs. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are installed as complete roofing systems designed for residential homes, incorporating underlayment and attachment details to minimize noise.
Yes — a metal roof can be energy efficient in Puyallup. Metal roofing often reflects sunlight, lowering heat gain in summer and reducing cooling loads. Overall energy performance also depends on the roof assembly: insulation levels, underlayment, and attic ventilation play a major role in heat transfer and moisture control. Puyallup’s mild, maritime climate with cool, wet winters and moderate summers means reflective coatings may offer modest summer benefits while proper insulation and ventilation are essential year‑round. Homeowners replacing a roof frequently consider energy efficiency to reduce utility bills, improve indoor comfort, avoid moisture issues, and increase resale value or qualify for incentives. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered to work with proper assemblies and ventilation to support long‑term home performance.
Puyallup, WA faces frequent heavy rain, seasonal wind‑storms with gusts often into the 20–30+ mph range, and occasional hail or convective storms that can stress roofs; the city also highlights local severe‑weather hazards and preparedness needs. Metal roofing performs well in wind and heavy rain when systems are properly designed and installed: standing‑seam and interlocking panels shed water and resist uplift. Hail performance depends on panel profile and alloy/thickness; heavy hail can dent, though higher‑grade, impact‑resistant metal resists damage. Correct underlayment, fasteners, and edge details matter—proper installation and inspections reduce leak and uplift risk. Overall performance depends on roofing system design, installation quality, and material durability. Homeowners consider weather resilience to reduce leaks, repair and insurance costs, and extend roof life. Interlock Metal Roofing systems are engineered for durability, hail protection, and wind resistance.
Corrosion and rust resistance in metal roofing depends largely on the metal selected. Different metals and alloys—steel, galvanized steel, copper, and aluminum—perform differently; coatings and treatments also affect longevity. Aluminum is naturally corrosion-resistant and performs especially well in wet or coastal environments because it forms a protective oxide layer that slows deterioration. Homeowners should consider corrosion resistance to extend roof lifespan, reduce maintenance and repair costs, preserve curb appeal, and avoid moisture-related leaks or structural damage in Puyallup’s damp climate. Interlock Metal Roofing systems use aluminum construction designed for strong corrosion resistance and are protected by the Alunar Coating System for extra protection against moisture and environmental exposure. Choosing corrosion-resistant materials helps ensure reliable long-term performance.
Metal roofs in Puyallup, Washington are generally low maintenance and well suited to the region’s rainy winters and occasional wind or snow. However, no roof is completely maintenance-free. Homeowners should inspect their metal roof periodically—after storms and seasonally—to check for accumulated debris (needles, leaves), clear gutters, and ensure flashing and roof penetrations (vents, skylights, chimneys) remain sealed and fasteners are tight. Remove debris that can trap moisture or scratch coatings, and trim overhanging branches. Promptly address loose panels, damaged flashing, or blocked gutters to prevent water infiltration. Overall, metal roofing is a durable, long-lasting, low‑maintenance option for Puyallup homes when combined with regular inspections and timely minor repairs.
In Puyallup, WA, metal roofing can increase home value. Buyers often prioritize durable, low-maintenance roofs that stand up to Pacific Northwest weather, and premium roofing materials boost curb appeal. A metal roof’s long lifespan and resistance to rot and decay can improve buyer confidence at sale time. That said, architectural style matters—metal that matches surrounding homes and neighborhood character will deliver the best value. Interlock Metal Roofing systems offer multiple architectural profiles (slate, cedar shingle, Mediterranean tile, shake, and standing seam) and are available in heavy gauge aluminum and solid copper, allowing homeowners to choose durable options that complement local styles. Low maintenance reduces perceived future expenses, which many Puyallup buyers appreciate. Proper installation and a style-appropriate color help maximize resale appeal.
Yes—Interlock Metal Roofing Systems are compatible with solar in Puyallup when custom solar brackets are used by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. Puyallup averages about 41 in of rain annually, increasing moisture exposure for roofs. Cool, humid winters encourage moss and surface moisture that can affect panel mounts and sealants. Roof lifespan matters when adding panels—long-lasting materials are preferred—and homeowners should plan for future solar when replacing a roof. Interlock’s metal panels are designed to support solar mounting solutions; ask about corrosion‑resistant fasteners, proper flashing, ventilation spacing, and routine cleaning to ensure durability and performance.

I’ve had my interlock roof for 14 yrs and have had no issues with it until this last winter. We had heavier than normal snow and a lot of freeze thaw conditions. Several of the snow deflectors were pushed forward and lifted some of the roof. I emailed Dave and Tyler and repairs were made quickly . You can’t tell there was any concerns at all.

Metal Shingle Roof Review in Sudbury, ON (Interlock - Installed 2017)

Review: April 25, 2026

Completion: June 7, 2018

We had our roof replaced in 2017 with an aluminum roof by Interlock Metal Roofing. We live on the lake, and prior to the replacement, we were spending thousands of dollars every year because shingles would fly off in the wind.

We haven’t had any issues in the past 7 years. Our experience with Interlock Metal Roofing was excellent — they were very professional and did a beautiful job, even though our roof is quite high and challenging.

Our roof still looks beautiful, and we haven’t had to worry about it at all in the past 9 years.

Corvallis, OR Metal Shingle Roof Review — Interlock (Installed 2017)

I love my Interlock roof! No more climbing up to clean it, and no more gritty debris falling into my garden after a few years. It looks fantastic and performs exactly as it should.

The installers were excellent—knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and personable. Ivan is a gem! He handled a small flashing addition efficiently and cleaned the entire roof with a blower in no time.

After almost ten years, it’s still the only roof I would choose.

Interlock Metal Roof Review - Ramara, ON (Installed 2019)

Completion: April 23, 2026

We are so happy with our interlock roof from Bruce. We had shopped around because we live on the lake with strong winds and we wanted a quality, long lasting product. Our roof has never changed colour and looks just as good now as the day it was installed. We also love the lifetime transferable warranty. We also love that it is made in Canada so there are no tariffs. Bruce was our sales person. He came right away, explained everything to us. We made the right decision not choosing shingles because of the environment and quality of the product. This was an affordable investment that was worth it. The crew was professional in every aspect. If I move, I will definitely be contacting Bruce again for another interlock roof.

Portland, OR Metal Shingles Review — Safety Anchors Installed 2019

Review: April 20, 2026

Completion: June 20, 2019

We’ve had our roof for about 7 years and have been very pleased with it. Recently, I scheduled gutter cleaning which was complicated by a run of wet weather which makes the roof very slippery. The gutter contractor asked if we had ever considered installing safety anchors. I didn’t know there was such a thing. I called Interlock and Ivan came by to take a look. He quickly determined appropriate locations for the anchors that the gutter cleaners could clip their safety harnesses to and showed me an example of the anchor itself. He also offered to paint them black to make them more inconspicuous on our dark roof. He returned about a week later for the install and afterwards showed us pictures of the anchors from the roof and pointed them out from the ground. Overall very professional, prompt, excellent service.

Interlock Metal Shingle Roof Review in Bay View, WI (Installed 2009)

Review: April 16, 2026

Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Interlock Metal Roofing Review in Saint Paul, AB — 50-Year Warranty (Installed 2025)

Review: April 15, 2026

Completion: August 31, 2025

We recently installed a new Interlock Roofing System, and we couldn’t be happier with the decision. Knowing it’s backed by a limited lifetime, non-prorated, fully transferable 50-year warranty gives us real peace of mind—it truly feels like a smart long-term investment. Mr. Yorman and his crew were outstanding from start to finish. Their commitment to customer service is second to none. They showed up exactly when they said they would and worked diligently until the job was completed. The finished product looks fantastic, and the cleanup was so thorough that our property actually looked better than before they arrived. A special mention to Tyler, who did an excellent job walking us through the benefits and helping us feel confident in choosing this system. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended!

I recently had my 25 year old asphalt roof replaced with an Interlock Metal roof. I'm so very happy with my decision. In fact, best decision ever to have Interlock Industries install. The metal roof is manufactured in Delta, BC and they have their own installers. It's not panels! It looks very much like a cedar roof! Colour is awesome as well! My home is located in Victoria on Vancouver Island and looks great with my new roof! Interlock is a very professional business from contract signing to installation. Amazing crew that gets the job done in a timely manner. My roof looks fabulous. It's a work of art!!

Aurora, ON Metal Roofing Review — Interlock Installation (2016)

Review: April 13, 2026

Completion: May 3, 2016

We moved into our new house in 1984. Our new house came with new 25 year shingles. In 2004, 20 years later we noticed that our roof shingles needed to be redone. Now, back in 1984 they used asbestos in the roof shingles and although at the time they said they were 25 year shingles, we were still happy to get 20 years out of them. So, in 2004 we got a quote and had the roof re-shingled. We paid extra for the 25 year shingles as we had such a good result with the original shingles. In 2016 (i.e. 12 years later) my neighbour told us that our shingles on the south side of the house were cracked with rolled up edges and needed to be replaced. (We can't see the south roof of our house unless we are visiting the neighbours.) The shingles on the north side were still ok, but since you can't really shingle half a roof we knew that we had to have the whole roof done...after just 12 years. We were a little upset about this and decided to go to the National Home Show in Toronto to look at alternatives. We met Tom Watson at the Interlock Metal Roofing booth and he took a lot of time and explained the complete roofing system to us. We liked what we saw and what was explained to us and we arranged to have a home visit from Interlock and to give us a quote. The metal roof was certainly a lot more expensive than a regular asphalt shingle roof, but we decided to get the metal roof anyways because we did not want the hassle of having to re-shingle every 10 or 11 years...and there are also some other unforeseen benefits detailed below that we did not know about at the time. The metal roof comes with a Lifetime Limited Warranty, 50 year transferable, not prorated so even though more expensive it adds value to lyour home because if in the future you are looking to sell, the buyer knows he won't have any roof problems for the 50 year life of the roof. Your roof becomes an asset instead of a liability. The installation happened over 4-5 days. I paid a lot of attention to what they were doing and how they were doing it. The roof vents were removed. These are the same roof vents that raccoons like to rip off for access to your attic, so that potential problem went away. A ridge vent (google it) was installed on the top of the roof and it is low profile and fits in so you would not know that it is there. Raccoons have been known to chew a hole in asphalt shingles and roofing plywood to get into your attic. With a metal roof, it isn't happening. That mode of access is eliminated. Now, with our previous asphalt shingles we had constant problems with raccoons pooping on our roof (sound familiar?) and for some reason, at least for the last 10 years that we have had the metal roof, that has not happened. I don't know why, but I can speculate that the raccoons find the metal roof very slippery and they are not comfortable being up there and doing their business while trying not to slide off the roof. Also, in the past we have had squirrels occasionally make their way through, under, beside our asphalt shingles and get into our attic. That will never happen with a metal roof because the whole roof is sealed and northing is getting that way. If you are concerned about high winds ripping off your shingles you don't have to worry with a metal roof. Each and every metal shingle is fastened to the roof with aluminum screws (note the metal roof shingles are painted and baked to a tough finish) and they are interlocked with each other, so you may lose your entire roof in a hurricane, but the metal shingles will still be attached to it. We moved into our new house in 1984. After about 2 years of sweating through humid summers, we installed an A/C system. Our new A/C system worked ok in that it removed the humidity and cooled the house, but with the high 37 deg C temperatures it was struggling. The A/C would run continuously and never stopped on those hot days, but once the metal roof was installed it cycled on and off as designed. We highly recommend Interlock Metal Roofing.

We had our roofed replaced by Interlock Roofing in 2016. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! Our roof looks like slate shingles but is entirely metal. We e received many compliments on it over the years Recently we had a lot of strong wind and hailstorms and our representative, John Mondeshean, checked in with us to see if we sustained any roof damage. He came out and inspected our roof for us within a day or two. Luckily we didn’t have any damage. I’ve been impressed by this company and their product from day one. John is the consummate professional. Our roof is now 10 years old and I still say it was the best investment! Highly recommend!
