| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
I cannot think of anything as everything from presentation to completion of the roofing project went smoothly! I do get compliments on my new roof from Interlock- the red color and the slate look get rave reviews! I do recommend Interlock to anyone I meet that gives a compliment or says they are considering a new roof.
In 2004 my wife and I decided to purchase the lifetime Interlock Roof. I was fifty at the time and had been called over to my Father In Laws house several times to clean out his gutters and clean off his roof with a pressure washer. I told my wife I did not want our kids to have to do that for us in our later years. The situation with my in-laws provided the motivation to start the search for a permanent roof. We landed on the Interlock Roof at the Western Washington Fair in 2004. The roof was installed and have not had any problems afterwards. There are some idiosyncrasies with this type of roof: The roof is not made to be walked on When it snows the snow builds up for a 1 to 3-inch amount and then slides off the roof and onto the ground below The roof keeps its original look, never needs to be pressure washed off or any other maintenance. We are very satisfied with the roof and very glad we will never have to purchase another roof again.
When we are ready to do our roof we will be calling. We needed a quote
They could have improved their communication.
They were stellar! There is nothing I would change!
I liked the quality of the product and it looked good just too expensive.
We just wanted to let you know how thoroughly-pleased we are with our new Interlock Roof. It is absolutely beautiful and we have had a lot of people stopping as they walk or drive by to admire how nice it looks. Everything progressed on the job exactly as you had shared with us when we signed the contract. There were no surprises. From the beginning when we got the call to set up a start date, to the final clean up and retrieval of the waste bin everything was handled so professionally. Viktor and Alex were a dream to work with-so-pleasant and each day everything was left so tidy that it would have been hard for guests to tell that we were in the middle of a re-roofing job. We will highly recommend your product and doing business with such a professional and obviously well run company.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Puyallup
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Puyallup, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Puyallup.
Will a metal roof handle Puyallup's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions. Puyallup experiences roughly 46 freeze-thaw days per year, where traditional asphalt becomes brittle and concrete tile can crack. Aluminum expands and contracts smoothly without fracturing because it has no porosity to trap water. The 3105-H24 alloy used in Interlock panels is designed for exactly this stress. The oxide layer that prevents corrosion also resists the mechanical wear of repeated temperature swings, so your roof maintains integrity through decades of Puget Sound winters.
How does metal roofing handle Puyallup snow and ice dams?
Metal roofing sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt. Puyallup averages about 30 cm of snow annually, and the smooth, interlocked panel surface prevents snow from binding. The four-way interlocking design means no water can pool at seams, which is the primary cause of ice dams. Because aluminum conducts heat efficiently and the roof surface can warm slightly on sunny days—Puyallup gets roughly 2,943 sunshine hours per year—ice is less likely to refreeze at the eaves. Optional snow guards can be installed if you want to retain snow for insulation or aesthetics.
Can metal roofing handle Puyallup's heavy rainfall without leaking?
Puyallup receives approximately 1,195 mm of rain annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are engineered to shed that volume without pooling. The panels overlap in all directions, meaning water cannot migrate upslope or sideways into seams. Installation over solid decking with premium underlayment—standard practice by regional installer Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc.—creates a three-layer barrier. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms compliance with IBC/IRC water-shedding standards. When installed to specification, the system has a proven track record in salt-air coastal climates and wet regions worldwide.
Why does aluminum metal roofing not rust in wet climates like Puyallup?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes in steel. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, invisible oxide layer that protects the metal beneath. When that layer is scratched, it self-heals through a natural chemical process. Puyallup's wet maritime climate is actually where aluminum excels: the extra layer of Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel, giving 30-year coating protection measured to ASTM D4214 standards. This dual-sided coating is especially valuable in salt-air regions and high-moisture environments like the Pacific Northwest, where steel would corrode aggressively.
Is metal roofing light enough to install over my existing roof in Puyallup?
Yes. The Interlock Shingle installs at just 0.41 pounds per square foot, and even the Mediterranean Tile—which replicates the look of heavy clay—weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than actual tile. This extreme lightness means no structural reinforcement is required in most cases, and the system can be installed directly over your existing asphalt roof. Contrast that with concrete or clay tile, which demand costly framing upgrades. For Puyallup homeowners, this translates to lower installation costs and the option to avoid a full tear-off, reducing disruption and landfill impact while preserving the dry-in during construction.
Will metal roofing stay secure in Puyallup's windstorms?
Puyallup's typical wind gusts reach about 98 km/h, and the Interlock system is warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking design—panels lock north, south, east, and west—prevents any single panel from lifting or separating. Each panel is mechanically fastened to the deck in a pattern that distributes load. The system achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact classification, the highest available, and carries wind-resistance warranty coverage across all five profiles. Regional installer Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. follows fastening protocols that have proven resilient through Pacific Northwest windstorms since 1997.
How much roof maintenance does a metal roof need in Puyallup?
Metal roofing requires significantly less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade and shed granules in Puyallup's ~1,195 mm annual rainfall, aluminum does not deteriorate. Unlike cedar shake, it does not split or rot. Periodic inspection is recommended—typically annual, especially after high wind events—to verify fastener integrity and clear debris from valleys. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced-maintenance design. Most Puyallup homeowners find that occasional gutter cleaning and debris removal after storms is sufficient. The 30-year coating warranty against chalking and fading means the finish maintains its appearance without re-coating or re-sealing cycles that other materials demand.
Is a metal roof more affordable than asphalt when you factor in the full lifespan?
Over a 50-year span, metal roofing typically costs less because you buy it once. An asphalt roof in Puyallup—with its 1,195 mm annual rainfall and 46 freeze-thaw cycles—often needs replacement every 15 to 20 years, meaning 2 or 3 tear-offs, plus labor and disposal fees accumulating. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is non-prorated for the original owner and covers the full material lifespan, then transfers to the next owner for 50 years from completion. Current regional promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, lowering your entry cost. When you calculate total cost of ownership including removal, reinstallation, and maintenance, metal roofing delivers better value across decades.
What warranty covers a metal roof, and how long will it actually last?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner, extending coverage 50 years from completion. This is possible because aluminum does not degrade the way asphalt or wood does; the 3105-H24 alloy and dual-sided Alunar® 70% PVDF finish are designed for 50+ years of service. Real-world Interlock installations include homes in salt-air coastal regions and an Antarctic research station—extremes that prove durability. In Puyallup's moderate maritime climate with 2,943 sunshine hours and roughly 30 cm annual snow, your roof will outlast conventional materials by decades, making it the last roof you'll likely install.
Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Metal roofing breaks the landfill cycle. Asphalt shingles—torn off every 15–20 years in high-moisture climates like Puyallup—end up as non-recoverable waste. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, with no toxic binders or petroleum products. It requires no chemical re-coating or re-sealing treatments over decades. The light weight (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) means lower manufacturing carbon and easier transportation. Because installation often occurs over existing roof layers—no tear-off required—you avoid the immediate disposal impact. Interlock has manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998, supporting regional supply chains. Choosing metal means you're making one purchasing decision that lasts 50+ years, eliminating the cumulative environmental cost of multiple roof replacements.
