The roofing installers did not initially integrate the ice & water shield membrane correctly with the drip edge. I had another roofer prepare the roof deck and put high temp ice & water shield over my whole roof deck ahead of time - a requirement because of my solar panels. So, if it's worth it to have ice & water shield, it's worth doing it right.
