Good Morning Mr. Thomas: I just wanted to send a quick note to give a sincere thank you to yourself, Janer, German, Kevin and the two other gentlemen who joined in on Saturday (sorry, I did not get their names) for seeing this issue through to the end. I am extremely happy and overwhelmed with the honourability and integrity of Interlock Roofing… something that’s tough to say these days when most companies just take your money and run and do not stand behind anything they sell or work on. To stand behind your product and get the issue resolved like everyone did… I can’t say thank you enough. Janer, German, Kevin, and the two other gentlemen were a complete pleasure to work with… a great bunch of hard working, polite, and happy guys. Working on a roof is bad enough… but to do it at the start of winter when the mornings are cold, frosty and dark.... doesn’t make life any easier. I hope they get some well deserved down time with family and friends. Finally, a huge thank you to you for making all this happen… especially this late in the year. You are a man of your word…and to me that means the world. Thank you. I wish everyone on your end a happy, safe, and relaxing holiday season.

They should have sent a crew that knew what they were doing. It was very apparent that they didn't know what they were doing. They also extended the schedule by 5 weeks, until they sent in this one guy. The first crew was late everyday, and some days they didn't show up at all. Then, they brought in just one guy, and he knew what he was doing and finished the project in 4 days. The communication could have been a lot better. I sent numerous emails and phone calls to Interlock, just wanting answers or better communication.

Dear Neil, Just a few short thoughts about our new roof and experience with Interlock. We really liked the look of the wood shakes that we had on our home, so it was important to maintain that. The Cedar Shingle profile was beautiful when we looked at the sample, but the final appearance exceeded our expectation. We think our new roof is even more attractive now then with the old wood shakes. That it is made froman aluminum alloy and recycled, was an added feature and makes it a better choice for theenvironment. We believe that Interlock has a system that considers all the important areas, like thetrims and skylights. We’ve noticed that other roof products seem to fail quickly in both life expectancy and appearance, particularly on the south facing side. Interlock is a premium roof and more expensive than many choices out there, but lasts a lifetime, so will not really cost us anymore than one of the lower price roofs that need maintenance and replacement. It is a lifetime roof that looks amazing now, and we’re looking forward many years of not having to worry. A few of our neighbors have this roof and they look as good today as the day they were put on, one maybe 10 years ago. Another thing that we like is that it will not burn. We are surrounded by many large trees so having a product that protects our home gives us a nice piece of mind. Overall a great value and worth the additional cost. The installation process was wonderful and professional. The installers did a fantastic job working all day and cleaning up each time they went home for the evening. They didn’t start too early or keep us up too late and work very hard to get it done. They were concerned with safety, so we were relieved to see that they had on safety equipment and were careful on the roof. We’re extremely happy with the entire experience and result so would recommend Interlock to our friends, family, and anyone who is looking for a great roof. Thanks again.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sturgeon County

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sturgeon County, Alberta. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sturgeon County.

Will a metal roof hold up through Alberta's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes — aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so it won't corrode even after Sturgeon County's typical 88 freeze-thaw days per year. Unlike asphalt shingles that crack and curl as water penetrates and expands, aluminum panels expand and contract uniformly without absorbing moisture. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) used since 1998 has proven itself in thousands of Canadian installations. Your roof survives the thaw season intact, year after year.

How does a metal roof handle snow load and ice dams in Sturgeon County winters?

Metal roofs shed snow faster than asphalt because their smooth surface offers less friction — reducing ice-dam risk when you receive about 96 cm of snow annually. Four-way interlocking panels lock together so snow and ice cannot work their way under seams. The panels are manufactured to ICC-ES ESR-1790 standards for roof loading. Optional snow guards can be installed if you prefer controlled shedding. This design prevents the water pooling that causes ice dams and interior leaks common with traditional roofing.

Can an Interlock metal roof withstand Alberta wind gusts?

The warranty covers wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Sturgeon County experiences typical gusts around 105 km/h, well within that safety margin. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together mechanically, distributing wind pressure across the entire roof rather than relying on adhesive like asphalt shingles do. This is why metal roofing is specified for high-wind regions and why the panels have achieved UL 2218 Class 4 hail impact resistance — the engineering that protects against impact also protects against uplift.

Is a metal roof worth the cost compared to asphalt shingles over 30+ years?

Yes, because asphalt needs replacement every 15–20 years, while Interlock delivers a lifetime limited material warranty (non-prorated for the original owner) and one-time transfer to the next owner for 50 years. Over four decades, you'll replace asphalt twice and repair ice dams and wind damage; metal roofing needs neither. Add the current promotion — interest-free payments for 3 months and savings of at least $2499 — and the cost advantage widens. This is genuinely your last roof.

Will my home need structural reinforcement for a metal roof?

No. Interlock's Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft and the Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft — about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Your existing roof structure already supports far heavier loads. This featherweight design also means you can install over existing asphalt without tear-off, saving labor costs and eliminating landfill waste in one step. In Sturgeon County's climate, this lightweight advantage keeps your home's envelope intact and reduces installation disruption.

Do metal roofs help lower cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient colors achieve thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs. While Sturgeon County averages 3153 sunshine hours per year and cooling isn't the primary concern, reflective coatings do reduce attic temperatures and lower air-conditioning demand on hot days. The Alunar® 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against fading (ASTM D4214/D2244), so reflectance doesn't degrade. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms the energy benefit persists.

Why can't an aluminum roof rust like steel roofing?

Aluminum contains no iron — iron is what rusts. When exposed to air, aluminum immediately forms an aluminum oxide layer that seals the surface and self-heals if scratched. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), proven since 1998 across climates from coastal salt air to Antarctic research stations. In Sturgeon County's 431 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw environment, this oxide protection is permanent and requires no maintenance — unlike steel, which needs touch-up paint and eventually fails.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Minimal — rinse debris after storms and check fasteners annually. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides of every panel) resists weathering, chalking, and fading for 30 years, so you won't repaint or refinish. Compare this to wood shingles (which split and require replacement), clay tile (which cracks in freeze-thaw and costs thousands to repair), or asphalt (which deteriorates steadily). CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance demand. In a climate with 88 freeze-thaw days yearly, choosing a material that doesn't absorb water or degrade saves money and headaches.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Sturgeon County?

Interlock Metal Roofing (Alberta) Ltd. has served the region since 1999 — longer than most roofing contractors. They know Edmonton-area weather, code requirements (ICC-ES ESR-1790), and the specifics of installing over existing roofs in freeze-thaw climates. Current promotion includes interest-free payments for 3 months and minimum savings of $2499 on installation. Local service means faster response, warranty support you can reach, and craftspeople familiar with your home's challenges — snow load, wind gusts to 105 km/h, and the daily temperature swings that come with about 3153 sunshine hours per year.

Are metal roofs better for the environment than asphalt?

Dramatically yes — aluminum is about 95% recyclable, and Interlock panels can be recycled indefinitely without degradation. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, end up in landfills by the millions of tons each year because they cannot be recycled. In Sturgeon County, choosing metal breaks the tear-off-to-landfill cycle and represents a genuine reduction in your home's environmental footprint. The roof lasts your lifetime and the next owner's 50-year transfer term, then recycles into new products rather than waste. This is responsible stewardship that aligns with your home's long-term value.
