| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |

What our customers are saying:
I recently had my 25 year old asphalt roof replaced with an Interlock Metal roof. I'm so very happy with my decision. In fact, best decision ever to have Interlock Industries install. The metal roof is manufactured in Delta, BC and they have their own installers. It's not panels! It looks very much like a cedar roof! Colour is awesome as well! My home is located in Victoria on Vancouver Island and looks great with my new roof! Interlock is a very professional business from contract signing to installation. Amazing crew that gets the job done in a timely manner. My roof looks fabulous. It's a work of art!!
Best decision I ever made. Moses exemplified what the company stands for. He worked hard and got the job done. I now have a roof I can be proud of 🙂
Many years ago, we had our roof installed by Interlock Roofing Company, which came with a lifetime warranty. The roof served us well, but over the last couple of years the paint began to peel and it became quite unsightly. We contacted Interlock to request a replacement. I have to admit, it took some time and a few follow-up emails and phone calls, but eventually our case was passed to Todd — and thanks to him, our problem was fully resolved.Todd arranged for the best installer, Danny, to handle our roof, and I don’t have enough words to describe how exceptional he is. Not only is Danny extremely knowledgeable and professional, but he is also a true perfectionist who pays attention to every detail. Our roof looks beautiful again thanks to both Todd and Danny. We truly appreciate their dedication and the quality of their work.
Extremely satisfied with the whole process. The initial visit by the sale representative shows they have done their research on my roof and what will be required. They started work exactly when they said they would. The installation crew that worked on the roof always kept the site clean and free of nails and other trash. Highly recommended.
Professional work and a high quality product!

From the time I made the decision, to select Interlock as the successful roofing company, I have been extremely satisfied. The customer service has need excellent, regardless of whether it was administration, schedulers or the sale representative. The 4-5 man crew worked hard and long hours, under very hot conditions. Under the supervision of Antonio, a man with extensive experience and thoroughness, the project advanced quickly. One thing that demonstrated this was the focus on keeping the site clean and free of materials and nails and fasteners. Upon completion, my neighbours were echoing my own observation; if a roof could be beautiful, this one met that standard. People walking the public trail, have stopped to take pictures, and ask questions. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
When I decided I was gonna get a new roof, I knew it was going to be a metal roof. Meeting Randal at an outdoor show made it easier to start the process. He is both friendly and professional. The quote was straightforward. I got to see pictures of other houses and colors, and samples were brought. So that I could look at everything. Todd let me know when the people were going start. Vlad contacted me to ask if they could start Saturday and he answered all my questions. They worked fast and cleaned up everyday. Very nice people. Britt in administration was great. She was very helpful. Oh and my roof is beautiful. I had to take a picture of the snow guard. It nice to know I don't have to think about doing my roof again. I would highly recommend Interlock.
Interlock Metal Roofing (BC) Ltd. was challenged by the roof on our home but managed to replace the whole roof system and repair some rot that was discovered under the roof they removed because of a faulty installation from another roofing contractor 15 years ago. The team working on the job worked very hard and efficiently and had the job done in just over two weeks. The new roof looks so much better and we feel confident we will not have any more issues. Thank you to the whole Interlock team from the sales, installation manager and the crew who did the work. Job well done! Glen and Brenda Sanders, Shawnigan Lake, BC
My husband and I debated for some time as whether or not to replace our aging roof with a metal roof or go with the standard asphalt shingles. We’re so happy we decided to go with the metal roof as it turned out better than our expectations and doesn’t take away from the contemporary house style. We appreciated that the original meet and greet started with the estimate right up front and then led into the details of the roof color choices., etc. The roofers were hard working and professional and did a great job of cleaning up the yard daily. We highly recommend this company!
Replaced my roof on a few days, looks awesome. Great crew from vlad and his team.
The install team were great and were able to work around my schedule so that I didn't have to take any extra time off work.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sechelt
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sechelt, British Columbia. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sechelt.
How does a metal roof handle Sechelt's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Metal roofs shed snow more reliably than asphalt because aluminum's smooth surface and thermal conductivity work together to prevent ice-dam formation. Sechelt averages about 121 cm of snow annually and around 28 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels remain dimensionally stable through these cycles because aluminum doesn't absorb moisture the way organic roofing does. The panels expand and contract uniformly without splitting. Snow guards are available if you want to manage runoff strategically.
With 1680 mm of annual rainfall, will an aluminum metal roof leak?
No. Sechelt's 1680 mm annual rainfall is handled by the four-way interlocking panel design, which sheds water faster than gravity alone—water is forced downward and sideways through the lock mechanism into the next panel. The aluminum itself is non-porous and cannot absorb water. When installed to spec over a solid deck and ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliant underlayment, the system exceeds code requirements for drainage and has zero reported permeation leaks in coastal regions. The real test: Interlock panels have protected homes from coastal salt-air environments to Antarctic research stations.
Why is aluminum better than steel for a coastal Sechelt roof?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes in steel roofing. Instead, aluminum forms a microscopically thin oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, meaning exposure doesn't trigger corrosion. Sechelt's coastal location and salt-air environment is exactly where this matters most. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel—a dual-sided protection strategy that extends the 30-year coating warranty against chalking and fading. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires constant vigilance in salt air and will pit and rust within years if the coating is breached.
Can a metal roof withstand Sechelt's coastal wind gusts?
Yes. Sechelt experiences typical daily-max winds around 13 km/h with gusts recorded to 119 km/h. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking system means each panel locks to its neighbors on all four edges—a redundant mechanical fastening that distributes wind load across the entire roof plane rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners. This design has held in high-wind coastal and mountain regions for over 25 years. Asphalt shingles begin to lift and separate at much lower wind speeds.
Do I need to reinforce my house to install a metal tile roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means you can install it directly over most existing roofs, asphalt included, without engineering or reinforcement. The lightweight design reduces dead load strain on walls and foundations and simplifies installation logistics. A traditional clay tile roof would require expensive structural upgrades; Interlock Tile does not. This efficiency is one reason the product was chosen for Antarctic research stations and remote coastal locations where heavy construction is impractical.
Will my insurance company offer a discount for a metal roof after hail?
Many do. Interlock metal roofing earns a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Contact your insurer to ask about hail-impact discounts; many offer 15–25% reductions for Class 4 roofing because claims are dramatically lower than asphalt. The non-combustible aluminum (Class A fire rating available) may also qualify for fire-safety discounts. Document your UL 2218 rating when you apply. Sechelt's climate and distance from extreme hail zones mean your primary protection is durability—and metal's track record speaks for itself.
Will a metal roof reduce my heating and cooling costs?
Reflective Interlock colors reduce cooling loads in warm months. energy-efficient colors have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they bounce heat back into the atmosphere rather than absorbing it like asphalt. Sechelt receives about 2922 annual sunshine hours—enough to make this advantage measurable over a roof's lifetime, especially on south-facing slopes. In winter, aluminum conducts heat differently than asphalt, which can slightly increase heating demand, but the net annual energy benefit in a mild coastal climate favors the reflective advantage. The energy-efficiency certification quantifies this in Cool Roof Rating Council testing.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to replacing asphalt shingles?
Yes, when you calculate the full lifecycle. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years and require frequent maintenance; you'll buy three roofs in 60 years at roughly $8,000–12,000 each (plus labor, tear-off, and landfill costs). Interlock's Guardian lifetime limited warranty for the original owner, transferable 50 years to the next owner, means one installation typically covers your ownership and adds resale value. The aluminum never rusts, splits, or curls. Current promotion: interest-free payments for 3 months and minimum $2,499 savings on installation. Over 50 years, the elimination of re-roofing, maintenance, and tear-off disposal costs makes metal the rational choice.
How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof need?
Minimal. Unlike asphalt (which deteriorates, sheds granules, and requires periodic repair), wood shake (which rots and splits, especially in Sechelt's 1680 mm of rain and freeze-thaw climate), or clay tile (which cracks), aluminum requires only occasional gutter cleaning and inspection. The Alunar finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading and doesn't degrade visibly in coastal salt air. No sealant reapplication, no moss treatment, no shingle replacement. Sechelt's damp climate and 28 annual freeze-thaw days create ideal conditions for traditional roofing problems—expansion, contraction, moisture infiltration, rot. Aluminum eliminates these vectors entirely. This low-maintenance profile contributes to CALGreen verification for reduced long-term property maintenance.
Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, shake, or tile?
Yes. Interlock offers five authentic profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates the visual texture and shadow of the original material while delivering aluminum's durability. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are manufactured to crisp dimensional detail—the Cedar Shingle profile mimics hand-split grain, the Shake captures the random width and shadow-line of weathered wood, Mediterranean Tile echoes curved barrel shingles. All are available in multiple colors, including weather-softened tones suited to Sechelt's coastal palette. Choose the aesthetic you want; the material does the work. Manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998, so profiles are locally produced and understood by regional installers.
