What our customers are saying:
It's a very beautiful roof. Working during daylight hours. They didn't have much light when they worked after dusk. Apparently they forgot their brighter headlights in another vehicle. My roof looks very nice. I wish your company did eavestroughs, soffits, and fascia too.
From our initial consultation at our home with Carter and Brian (VP) to the installation we couldn’t be happier. When Brian gave us his personal cell phone number that did it for me. If the VP of a company gives you his personal cell phone number, that speaks volumes to the confidence he has in his products. Carter came back a second time to put our minds at ease with our colour selection. Our installation crew was amazing! Maurice and Brian are top-notch gentlemen who did an amazing job. Having a pool, I was concerned about nails and other debris ending up in it. Well, there was absolutely nothing in my pool. You could tell they took pride in the work they did because they took pictures of themselves in front of our home when it was complete. They seemed proud of the job they did. Maurice kept saying it has to be done right the first time because they don’t want to come back (although they are always welcome to stop by for a visit if they are in the area). We were initially concerned that the roof might be louder when it rains, but it’s actually quieter. Our daughter used to wake up through the night when it rained but now she sleeps right through. It could be because they were able to go right over the existing asphalt shingles which also reduces landfill waste. I never thought I would get compliments on a roof. People " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and say it looks great. When I pull up to my home I say wow that roof looks good! It’s a premium roof at a premium price, but one shot and you are done.
Everything was great!
My next door neighbour had his installed prior to us and we decided to research metal roofing far and wide. We had to do it since our asphalt roofing was terrible and we were part of a class action lawsuit that was going very slowly. We decided on Interlock and are totally pleased with the quality, timing, workmanship, and attention to details of the company and its friendly installers. Although we had a few minor issues deciding on the installation preparation and with the post-installation within the first 6 months, the Interlock staff member was most responsive and remedied the issues. Being a real estate Broker, I know this has given us an ROI much higher than with a standard roof shingle installation - and gives us a lifetime of no worries. We decided to add a larger eaves and drainage system as well as eaves screens b/c of the nature of the roof. Even our mail delivery person cited that the roof "popped" when he came down the street. I have also recommended Interlock to others. Thanks go to the team approach on this renovation. Positive: Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism Services: Roof installation, Skylight installation
More supervisors visits while the job was being done. There where no visitors from the company. None. I had to climb on my roof and instruct the installer. It’s been nearly a year and still no one has come by. This is what u call good business. Product is good but the experience not so good
The entire experience was great. I'm very impressed with your people and products. You seem to have a fine business running!
So far so good. The product is as described during the sales demonstration and is living up to what was promised. Two years into its life and it looks like brand new. We did however have to install more snow blockers to slow down the snow sliding off the roof. Be sure to have sufficient snow stoppers when you have your roof installed. The roof looks great.
They were good. I have no suggestions for them.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Guelph
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Guelph, Ontario. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Guelph.
How does a metal roof handle Guelph's 107 cm of annual snow?
Aluminum's smooth surface sheds snow efficiently, reducing ice dam formation and the weight stress that damages asphalt roofs. Guelph receives about 107 cm of snow yearly across roughly 88 freeze-thaw cycles, creating conditions where water pools and refreezes at the eave—a leading cause of interior leaks. Interlock panels four-way interlock, and the light profile design (the Shingle weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft) means the structural load from accumulated snow remains minimal. The aluminum oxide layer resists the salt-laden melt runoff typical of your region without degradation, unlike steel roofing, which requires constant vigilance against rust.
Why do freeze-thaw cycles in Guelph damage some roofs but not metal?
Asphalt shingles absorb moisture and expand and contract with temperature swings; after 88 annual freeze-thaw cycles, this causes cracking, curling, and granule loss. Aluminum does not absorb water and maintains structural integrity across unlimited thermal cycling. With mean annual temperatures around 8.9°C and freeze-thaw events numbering roughly 88 per year, traditional materials face relentless stress. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, remains flexible across temperature extremes. Guelph homeowners choosing aluminum eliminate the annual ritual of inspecting and patching freeze-thaw damage.
Can a metal roof rust in Guelph's wet, freeze-thaw climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the material that oxidizes and corrodes in steel roofing. When aluminum's surface is scratched, the oxide layer self-heals within hours, forming a protective barrier automatically. This distinction matters in Guelph's climate: annual rainfall of 717 mm plus snowmelt and freeze-thaw cycles create constant moisture exposure. Steel roofing requires coatings and sealants to prevent rust; when those coatings chip or wear, rust accelerates. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209 certified) will outlast any steel alternative in your region without progressive corrosion or hidden water damage beneath the surface.
Do metal roofs blow off in Guelph's wind and storms?
No—Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec. Guelph experiences typical daily-max winds around 19 km/h with gusts reaching 118 km/h, well within this rating. The interlocking edges grip each panel mechanically; a single panel cannot uplift without displacing its neighbors, creating a unified system rather than individually fastened shingles vulnerable to edge failure. The lightweight design (Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft) also reduces the aerodynamic forces that catch and lift heavier roofing materials. Your roof will remain secure through the seasonal wind events common to Central-West Ontario.
Can my Guelph home's roof structure support a metal roof, or will I need reinforcement?
Most Guelph homes will require no structural reinforcement. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates heavy traditional tile, installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Even a full-size roof covered in Tile adds less than 3 lb/sq ft of dead load, far below the structural capacity of typical residential framing designed for asphalt shingles plus snow (Guelph averages 107 cm annually). The engineer's advantage: aluminum's low weight allows installation over most existing roofs without tear-off costs. This also reduces seasonal stress during your region's roughly 88 freeze-thaw cycles, where heavy materials endure greater dimensional stress.
What hail impact rating does Interlock metal roofing carry?
Interlock achieves the highest available rating: UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Guelph's specific hail frequency is not documented in regional normals, the Class 4 rating provides certainty: if hail strikes, the roof's impact resistance is verified by an independent third party (Underwriters Laboratories), and you are protected. Many insurers recognize UL 2218 Class 4 roofs and offer premium reductions because claims risk is demonstrably lower. Homeowners in regions prone to hail-producing storms commonly see savings that offset a portion of the roof's cost.
What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover in Guelph?
The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—the exact failure modes that plague asphalt and wood in Guelph's 88 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 717 mm rainfall. Non-prorated means if a defect appears in year 20 or year 50, you receive a full replacement, not a depreciated credit. The warranty also transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, protecting your investment through a resale. Because aluminum does not rust and the Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, the roof's protective function is guaranteed for your entire ownership and beyond.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt in Guelph?
Aluminum metal roofing requires significantly less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile in Guelph's wet climate. Asphalt shingles deteriorate under 717 mm annual rainfall and 88 freeze-thaw cycles, requiring annual inspections for curling, granule loss, and leak entry points. Wood shakes rot and split as freeze-thaw moisture penetrates. Concrete tile cracks in freeze-thaw cycles. Interlock aluminum needs no sealant reapplication, no algae treatment, and no seasonal leak-checking—the material's non-porous surface and oxide layer self-healing property eliminate these costs. Your maintenance routine is limited to occasional gutter cleaning and visual inspection, reducing the labor and expense that define the asphalt ownership experience.
Will a metal roof lower my cooling costs in Guelph?
Yes—energy-efficient Interlock colors are Cool Roof Rating Council rated with thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect heat that darker asphalt absorbs. Although Guelph's climate averages 3007 sunshine hours annually (not a desert climate), summer cooling loads are reduced when roof surface temperature stays lower. The reflective finish works year-round: in winter, it prevents unwanted heat gain on clear days, reducing heating cycling. Over a 50-year roof life, the cumulative energy savings from avoided solar heat absorption offset a meaningful portion of the material cost, particularly if you pair the roof with proper attic ventilation.
Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?
Yes—Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable; at the end of its service life (often 50+ years), the material returns to aluminum mills as feedstock. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are tear-off waste destined for landfills: Guelph generates an estimated 150,000+ tonnes of construction waste annually, and roofing shingles are a significant fraction. A single tear-off produces 7–10 tonnes of landfill. Choosing a 50-year aluminum roof eliminates multiple tear-off cycles and their associated waste. The product is also CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, avoiding the water and chemical runoff from periodic algae treatments, fungicide applications, and sealant reapplication typical of asphalt maintenance regimens.
