Review: April 3, 2004 Completion: March 31, 2004

Our Interlock roof installation was completed this past week. Several days after the installation was completed we endured a period of rainy days that dumped over 5 inches of rain on our new roof. Under this extraordinary onslaught we have seen no leaks or other problems. The installer was Alex, his work ethics were beyond reproach and we were impressed that one man could do a large job like this in such a timely fashion. Alex cleaned up the job site thoroughly at the end of each day, which we greatly appreciated. Your sales representative, Gerald Matta was through and professional. He gave us the information we felt we needed to make this important decision without undue sales pressure. Please feel free to bring any potential customers by to see the excellent job your company did. We will be pleased to talk with them.

Our roof is finished and it looks beautiful! We are very pleased with the outcome. The "Aged Copper' was absolutely the right choice for our house and carriage shed. We want to thank you for your assistance and professionalism is presenting your product to us and explaining the specifics of the installation, and for your follow-up calls to see how the job was going. We especially would like to commend the installer. He was meticulous about his work, with great attention to detail, and it was evident that he takes a lot of pride in his work. We know you said that all the installers are very good/ but we feel very fortunate to have had Nazar on this job. Everyone with whom we had contact at Interlock was friendly and helpful and we certainly appreciated that in making this investment in our home. The job was finished yesterday and this morning we awoke to snow! So we actually did get to witness the snow guards doing their job. We took a photo and if it comes out well, we'll send you a copy. Don't make a special trip, but if you are in the area do stop by to see how great the roof looks. If the dog is out in the yard, just call his name, "Bonzo", and talk to him. (He would he very happy if you have any dog treats to toss his way). Again, thanks to everyone.

Review: January 9, 2004 Completion: May 1, 2003

To whom it may concern; Several months ago we decided to have a new roof installed on our home. After comparing many different types of roofing materials, the decision was made to use the aluminum roofing system that Interlock presented to us. After several months I can say that the right decision was made. The new roof looks as great today as when it was installed. We have noticed our cooling costs in the summer as well as our heating costs in the winter have been greatly lowered. From the first day the roof was installed, numerous individuals have stopped to compliment and inquire of the roof. The one main concerns seems to be that of most that stop by to inquire of the roof - the noise level when it rains, with aluminum it must be terribly loud in the house, right? I tell them all the same thing. There can be a down pour going on outside and the only way I would know is if someone opened the door. Putting the Interlock Roofing System on our home was one of the smartest investments that we could have ever made. We not only have a roof that will look great for many years to come, we are also saving money each month on everything from gas and electric to homeowners insurance, and our home is now classified as energy efficient which means that there are more discounts to come for many years. But to me, just knowing that in twelve years I will not find myself looking up at the roof and cringing thinking that it is time for a new roof already, because I know it will look as great then as it does today.

Review: June 15, 2019 Completion: September 17, 2017

Couldn’t have chosen a better product, it’s been 2 years since installation and have absolutely no issues. The house is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Speaking of winter it’s only a matter of hours after a snow storm that all the snow slides right off, no more ice dams and ice filled gutters. The installers were awesome had the entire roof done in a day and a half and cleaned up prior to leaving. We love our Interlock roof.

Review: April 21, 2008 Completion: February 12, 2008

Sorry I didn’t get this to you sooner, but I just wanted to drop you a line on the excellent installation of my roof by Nazar and Sergei. They installed our roof in February and never let the harsh weather affect their attention to detail and their determination to do quality work. I was very fortunate to get these two Ukrainian gentlemen as my installers.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lisbon

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lisbon, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lisbon.

Will a metal roof handle Connecticut's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes — Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered for exactly these conditions. Lisbon receives about 75 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 87 freeze-thaw days per year, which can crack and curl asphalt shingles. Aluminum doesn't absorb moisture, so it won't rot or split when water refreezes in the panels. The lightweight design (Shingle profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means snow won't overload your structure, and the interlocking seams prevent water from migrating sideways during thaw cycles — a critical advantage in your climate.

Can an aluminum metal roof rust in Connecticut's humid coastal climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — the element that corrodes. Instead, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that actually protects against moisture and salt air. Lisbon's annual rainfall of about 1208 mm means constant exposure to moisture, making rust-proof material invaluable. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides, warranted 30 years against corrosion. This dual-sided coating is essential in humid climates where salt air and rain attack from above and below.

How does aluminum roofing hold up to freeze-thaw damage that ruins other materials?

Freeze-thaw damage occurs when water enters a material, freezes, expands, and cracks it — a real risk in Lisbon with 87 freeze-thaw days annually. Aluminum panels don't absorb water, so expansion damage is eliminated at the source. The four-way interlocking seams create a tight mechanical lock that sheds water outward before it can seep inward, unlike asphalt shingles that separate and crack under repeated freeze-thaw stress. The non-porous aluminum alloy (3105-H24) simply cycles through freezing without degradation, while wood shakes and concrete tile become brittle and split.

Can an old house support a metal roof without expensive structural work?

Almost certainly yes. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft — roughly 96% lighter than actual clay or concrete tile — so no roof reinforcement is needed. Your home's structure was already engineered to carry asphalt shingles (about 2–3 lb/sq ft), making Interlock lighter than what's already there. This is especially valuable in Lisbon, where 75 cm of seasonal snow adds real weight; installing over your existing roof eliminates tear-off labor and waste. The light weight also reduces structural stress during Lisbon's typical wind gusts up to 127 km/h, lowering movement and fatigue.

How does a metal roof perform in Connecticut wind storms?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), well above Lisbon's typical gust speeds of about 127 km/h. The interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors on all four sides — top, bottom, left, right — preventing panels from lifting even when wind tries to peel them up from the edges. This engineering is particularly effective because Lisbon's wind typically arrives in gusts rather than sustained force, and the interlocking system absorbs gust loads by distributing stress across multiple panels rather than concentrating it on fasteners.

Does metal roofing hold up to hail, and can it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest classification available — and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because metal roofs don't sustain the hidden impact damage that asphalt shingles do. Many insurers recognize that you won't file claims for weather damage, reducing your risk profile. Given Lisbon's 1208 mm of annual rainfall and the variability of spring storms, a non-denting, warrantied roof can lower your long-term insurance burden compared to shingles that show visible hail damage after a single event.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually require?

Far less than traditional materials. Aluminum panels require no sealing, no re-coating, no shingle replacement, and they don't rot, split, or curl — eliminating the major maintenance tasks that asphalt, wood, and tile demand. Lisbon's 1208 mm annual rainfall means gutters and valleys see heavy water flow, but Interlock's smooth, interlocking surface sheds debris and water without pooling. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured), so no repainting. You may rinse leaves from gutters seasonally, but the roof itself needs virtually no attention — a major advantage over tile that requires crack inspection or wood shake that needs fungicide treatment.

Will a metal roof reduce my heating and cooling costs?

energy-efficient Interlock colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt, reducing summer cooling load. Lisbon averages about 3066 sunshine hours yearly, making reflectance meaningful in warm months. The Aged Copper Penny finish reaches initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 — a substantial advantage over dark asphalt that absorbs 85–95% of solar radiation. During winter, the smooth metal surface conducts heat differently than asphalt, though the primary benefit is summer energy savings and reduced HVAC strain during Lisbon's warmer months, which extends air conditioner life and lowers monthly bills.

What warranty comes with Interlock roofing, and how long will it actually last?

The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance — the failure modes that plague asphalt, wood, and tile in Lisbon's climate. If you sell your home, the warranty transfers once and extends 50 years from completion to the next owner, making it a strong selling point. Because aluminum doesn't rust or rot, and the 30-year Alunar coating is also warranted, the panel itself outlasts virtually all competing materials. In practice, homeowners install Interlock once and never replace it — ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that repeats every 15–20 years.

Who installs Interlock roofing in Lisbon, Connecticut, and how experienced are they?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served your region since 1999, giving them over 25 years of experience with New England's specific climate demands — freeze-thaw cycles, salt air, heavy snow, and wind gusts to 127 km/h. They understand how to install panels so water sheds correctly during Lisbon's 1208 mm annual rainfall and how to set snow guards for 75 cm seasonal accumulation. The company is authorized by Interlock's manufacturer and understands the ICC-ES ESR-1790 code approval and four-way interlocking installation requirements. Currently, they're offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, making this an ideal time to contact them for a site visit and quote.
