Review: April 5, 2006 Completion: April 4, 2006

Our roof is finished and it looks beautiful! We are very pleased with the outcome. The "Aged Copper' was absolutely the right choice for our house and carriage shed. We want to thank you for your assistance and professionalism is presenting your product to us and explaining the specifics of the installation, and for your follow-up calls to see how the job was going. We especially would like to commend the installer. He was meticulous about his work, with great attention to detail, and it was evident that he takes a lot of pride in his work. We know you said that all the installers are very good/ but we feel very fortunate to have had Nazar on this job. Everyone with whom we had contact at Interlock was friendly and helpful and we certainly appreciated that in making this investment in our home. The job was finished yesterday and this morning we awoke to snow! So we actually did get to witness the snow guards doing their job. We took a photo and if it comes out well, we'll send you a copy. Don't make a special trip, but if you are in the area do stop by to see how great the roof looks. If the dog is out in the yard, just call his name, "Bonzo", and talk to him. (He would he very happy if you have any dog treats to toss his way). Again, thanks to everyone.

Review: April 3, 2004 Completion: March 31, 2004

Our Interlock roof installation was completed this past week. Several days after the installation was completed we endured a period of rainy days that dumped over 5 inches of rain on our new roof. Under this extraordinary onslaught we have seen no leaks or other problems. The installer was Alex, his work ethics were beyond reproach and we were impressed that one man could do a large job like this in such a timely fashion. Alex cleaned up the job site thoroughly at the end of each day, which we greatly appreciated. Your sales representative, Gerald Matta was through and professional. He gave us the information we felt we needed to make this important decision without undue sales pressure. Please feel free to bring any potential customers by to see the excellent job your company did. We will be pleased to talk with them.

Review: January 9, 2004 Completion: May 1, 2003

To whom it may concern; Several months ago we decided to have a new roof installed on our home. After comparing many different types of roofing materials, the decision was made to use the aluminum roofing system that Interlock presented to us. After several months I can say that the right decision was made. The new roof looks as great today as when it was installed. We have noticed our cooling costs in the summer as well as our heating costs in the winter have been greatly lowered. From the first day the roof was installed, numerous individuals have stopped to compliment and inquire of the roof. The one main concerns seems to be that of most that stop by to inquire of the roof - the noise level when it rains, with aluminum it must be terribly loud in the house, right? I tell them all the same thing. There can be a down pour going on outside and the only way I would know is if someone opened the door. Putting the Interlock Roofing System on our home was one of the smartest investments that we could have ever made. We not only have a roof that will look great for many years to come, we are also saving money each month on everything from gas and electric to homeowners insurance, and our home is now classified as energy efficient which means that there are more discounts to come for many years. But to me, just knowing that in twelve years I will not find myself looking up at the roof and cringing thinking that it is time for a new roof already, because I know it will look as great then as it does today.

Review: June 15, 2019 Completion: September 17, 2017

Couldn’t have chosen a better product, it’s been 2 years since installation and have absolutely no issues. The house is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Speaking of winter it’s only a matter of hours after a snow storm that all the snow slides right off, no more ice dams and ice filled gutters. The installers were awesome had the entire roof done in a day and a half and cleaned up prior to leaving. We love our Interlock roof.

Review: April 21, 2008 Completion: February 12, 2008

Sorry I didn’t get this to you sooner, but I just wanted to drop you a line on the excellent installation of my roof by Nazar and Sergei. They installed our roof in February and never let the harsh weather affect their attention to detail and their determination to do quality work. I was very fortunate to get these two Ukrainian gentlemen as my installers.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sprague

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sprague, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sprague.

How does a metal roof handle Connecticut's heavy snow and ice buildup?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice effectively because its smooth, hard surface prevents moisture from adhering the way asphalt does. Sprague receives about 75 cm of snow annually plus roughly 87 freeze-thaw cycles per year, which means ice dams form readily on conventional roofs. Aluminum's low friction and strength allow snow to slide safely when installed at proper pitch. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to 120 mph wind—critical when snow-loaded gutters face coastal nor'easters. Snow guards are available if you need to control runoff timing.

Will freeze-thaw cycling damage an aluminum metal roof over time?

No; aluminum actually improves in freeze-thaw conditions because it has no moisture-absorbing substrate. With 87 freeze-thaw days typical in Sprague, asphalt shingles absorb water, expand, contract, and crack within 15-20 years. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched and resists dimensional change regardless of temperature swings. Interlock's 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) has been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations since 1998, proving its durability in extreme cycling climates.

Can a metal roof rust in a New England climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. When exposed to moisture or salt air, aluminum forms a transparent oxide layer that self-heals if scratched—this is metallurgically different from steel's rust cycle. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy and applies Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating to both sides of every panel, a 30-year warranted finish. This two-sided protection ensures performance even as New England's 75 cm annual snowfall and coastal air expose the roof to moisture year-round.

Does a metal roof stand up to hail, and could it lower my insurance?

Interlock holds UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this non-combustible, Class A fire-rated aluminum as lower-risk and offer discounts. Check with your agent; some carriers reduce premiums 10-15% for metal roofs in hail-prone regions. Sprague's typical wind gusts reach 127 km/h, but severe hail is rarer here than on the Great Plains—still, the Class 4 rating gives you absolute confidence.

Is a metal roof light enough to install over my existing shingles without reinforcing the frame?

Yes. Interlock's Slate installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58, and Tile at 0.59—the Tile profile is roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most homes' existing framing can support these weights without reinforcement. Installing over your current roof eliminates the $3,000–$5,000 tear-off cost and reduces landfill impact. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms that Interlock installs safely over most existing asphalt roofs, making a retrofit fast and affordable.

How does a metal roof hold up in Sprague's winter storms and coastal winds?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to withstand wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Sprague's typical gusts reach 127 km/h, well within that range. The interlocking design—each panel secured to its neighbors on all four sides—distributes wind load across the entire roof plane rather than relying on fasteners alone. This redundancy is why Interlock has performed in coastal salt-air homes and Antarctic stations since 1998 without wind-related failures.

Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. Sprague receives about 3066 sunshine hours per year—plenty of opportunity for that reflectance to cut cooling demand. The Cool Roof Rating Council rates these finishes, confirming measurable energy savings. Lighter finishes (such as Aged Copper Penny) outperform dark asphalt shingles by 15-20°F in attic temperature on clear days.

How long does a metal roof last, and what does the warranty really cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no depreciation over time. The Alunar coating carries a separate 30-year protection against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214 and D2244). The warranty is one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. With 87 freeze-thaw cycles and 1208 mm rain annually, that coverage is meaningful; you're buying a roof that outlasts conventional materials by decades.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Sprague, Connecticut, and what's the current offer?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. serves the Sprague area and the broader New England region, with experience dating to 1999. They're factory-trained on installation method and product specifications (ICC-ES ESR-1790 and UL 2218 Class 4 protocols). Currently, the region is running a promotional offer: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Contact them for a site inspection and quote; local installers know New London County's climate and drainage patterns and can tailor pitch, snow guards, and underlayment to your specific roof structure.

Is aluminum roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Interlock panels are approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, and aluminum retains value in the scrap market. By contrast, asphalt shingle tear-offs—common after 15-20 years—send tons of waste to landfills annually. Interlock's durability (40+ years vs. 15-20 for asphalt in freeze-thaw climates like Sprague's with 87 cycles per year) means fewer replacements and less waste. The CALGreen-verified low-maintenance design reduces the chemical runoff from periodic cleaning. Choosing aluminum breaks the replace-and-discard cycle that defines asphalt roofing.
