| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.
I am writing to share how pleased I am with my Interlock Roof. When the original presentation was made, I knew I was getting a premium roof, but I had no idea the finished product would be so beautiful. I was also quite impressed with the installers. They were pleasant, respectful, conscientious, and courteous. As you may recall, my ">roof was one that required the old roof be removed because the original roof was wood shakes which were covered by at least 3 layers of asphalt. Those men gave 110% each and every day of the 14 days it took them to remove the original roof, replace it with plywood, and then install the Interlock roof. Many of those days were very " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot and humid, but that didn't seem to have any effect on them. They would work from early in the morning until after 6 or 7 PM, always cleaning the yard before they left for the day. It amazed me that they were so thorough in their cleanup each day that I could have used my yard for entertaining in the evening. I would encourage anyone with questions about whether Interlock delivers what they promise to contact me directly. I would be more than happy to answer questions by phone or in person, if someone wants to schedule a time to come by the house. Interlock stood by their commitment to insure I was satisfied with the work and end product. Choosing Interlock was a decision I'm glad I made. Thanks again!
I just wanted to take a moment to commend Interlock on a great product and thank you personally for your follow through after installation. I am pleased with the roof overall because it's good looking and works well. I get compliments about the new roof frequently. The description you provided of what to expect from beginning to end and what was delivered was consistent. This is such a simple thing to do but a surprising number of companies simply don't execute on their promises so I was pleased with the end result Interlock provided. The crew that removed my old roof and installed the new one was courteous and professional. They did a good job of cleaning up the job site each day and obviously take pride in their work. The only thing I would say was a drawback is that I had filled out the customer satisfaction survey before the dumpster was removed from my front yard. After the dumpster was removed I discovered two long indentations on my front lawn over a foot deep caused by the weight of the fully loaded dumpster. When I called you about it, you said you would correct it and now it has been corrected. This sort of customer service is what really separates companies that are in it for the long haul. I appreciate your follow up and the fact that you were able to correct the only item where I was not completely satisfied. I recommend Interlock to anyone considering a roof replacement based on the merits of the product alone. I had done a good amount of research in Consumer Reports on the longevity of different roof types as you know so there was no question in my mind that I wanted a metal roof but I didn't know how nice the end result would turn out. Your product combined with outstanding customer service is an unmatched offering. Consider me a reference for other potential customers curious about the experience they had with Interlock

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in West Hartford
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in West Hartford, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in West Hartford.
Will a metal roof handle Connecticut's freeze-thaw cycles better than asphalt or wood?
Yes. Aluminum expands and contracts minimally compared to asphalt or wood shingles, which crack and curl after repeated freezing and thawing. West Hartford experiences about 92 freeze-thaw days annually, creating intense stress on brittle materials. Interlock's aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and four-way interlocking design accommodate thermal movement without damage. The roofing-grade aluminum resists the wood rot and granule loss that plague traditional materials in climates cycling between winter's 77 cm of snow and spring thaw.
How does an aluminum metal roof perform under West Hartford's snow load?
Metal roofs shed snow naturally and resist ice dam formation because aluminum conducts and reflects heat differently than asphalt, which absorbs and holds cold. At approximately 1117 mm of annual rainfall and 77 cm of snow, West Hartford's winter weight is significant, but Interlock's panels weigh only 0.41 lb/sq ft in Shingle profile—light enough to install over existing roofs without structural reinforcement. The smooth, hard surface prevents snow from bonding; paired with optional snow guards, it manages the region's seasonal load safely while protecting gutters and eaves from ice dam damage.
Can a metal roof withstand the wind gusts that hit Connecticut?
Absolutely. West Hartford's typical wind gusts reach 127 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The interlocking design distributes wind pressure across the entire panel assembly rather than stressing individual fasteners, which is why the system achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance—the highest available rating. For a region prone to nor'easters and seasonal storms, this mechanical connection method provides protection that nailed-down shingles simply cannot match.
Why is an aluminum metal roof better than steel in a rainy climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal underneath. Even if scratched during installation or by wind-blown debris, the oxide regenerates automatically—a chemical property that steel roofing cannot claim. Interlock applies Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish to both sides of every panel, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, adding a durable barrier to the material's natural corrosion resistance. In West Hartford's humid climate with 1117 mm annual rainfall, this dual protection means your roof will not rust, rot, or develop the leaks that plague metal roofs made from iron-based steel.
Will an aluminum metal roof help lower cooling costs in summer?
Yes, when you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock's reflective coatings achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, reflecting the heat that dark asphalt absorbs. West Hartford receives about 3077 sunshine hours annually; a reflective metal roof reduces the heat load transmitted into your attic and home, lowering air conditioning demand. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating means your summer energy use drops compared to traditional dark shingles. Over a 30+ year roof life, this efficiency advantage compounds significantly, offsetting the higher initial material cost.
Does a metal roof get damaged by hail, and will insurance companies notice?
No—Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many homeowners discover that insurers offer premium discounts for metal roofs because they rarely sustain hail damage, unlike asphalt shingles which bruise, crack, and leak after impacts. Class A fire classification (non-combustible aluminum) further reduces risk from your insurer's perspective. In regions where hail events are possible—and Connecticut's convective storms occasionally produce large hail—this durability and warranty coverage can meaningfully offset the roof's installed cost through lower premiums over time.
What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover, and is it truly transferable?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—the failures that shorten traditional roof life. If you sell your home, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for a 50-year term from installation completion, a significant resale advantage. Combined with Interlock's manufacturing heritage since 1998 and field installations ranging from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations, this coverage reflects genuine confidence in material longevity. For West Hartford homeowners, it means your roof cost is locked in: no surprise failures, no prorated repairs, and documented protection that transfers to the buyer.
Is a metal roof's higher upfront cost worth it over the life of the roof?
Yes, when you calculate total installed cost against roof life and maintenance. Interlock metal roofing lasts 50+ years with minimal maintenance, compared to asphalt shingles typically lasting 15-25 years and requiring frequent repairs. Over a 50-year period, you might replace asphalt twice and pay for ice dam repairs, algae treatment, and storm damage—costs a metal roof avoids. Interlock's lightweight aluminum also eliminates the structural reinforcement expenses that slate or concrete tile demand. Current regional promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. For a property owner planning to stay long-term, the total cost of ownership favors metal decisively.
Can my existing roof structure support a metal roof, or do I need expensive reinforcement?
Most homes need no structural reinforcement because Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs over existing roofs without additional framing or engineering. The Shingle profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft. Typical roof decks built to current Connecticut building code (ESR-1790 ICC-ES evaluation, reissued 2025) easily support this weight. Steel tile or genuine slate tiles would require expensive structural upgrades; aluminum achieves the appearance without the hidden cost. This lightweight advantage makes metal roofing economically feasible for homes where traditional high-end materials would demand tens of thousands in structural work.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in West Hartford, and how experienced are they?
Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served the region since 1999, bringing 25+ years of local expertise in Connecticut's climate and building practices. They understand West Hartford's freeze-thaw cycles, heavy snow load, and seasonal wind patterns—and how to install Interlock's four-way interlocking system to achieve its full 120 mph wind warranty and ice-shedding performance. Local installation means faster response time, familiarity with Hartford County building departments, and accountability within your community. The same installer who manages your project will be nearby for warranty service or future maintenance questions, a continuity advantage over national roofing chains.
