Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Lynnfield, Massachusetts
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Thank you so much for meeting with us to arrange the purchase of a new roof by Interlock. It’s Beautiful! It is so beautiful that our neighbors are always looking and complimented us for the decision we made to install our Interlock roof. The crew, Mr. Molin Temofey the most professional, intelligent worker, I ever had working on my house, he was polite – he did the work, and he cleaned up beautifully (even better than how he found it – to our pleasure). The roof was delivered three weeks earlier, as well the installation! The crew worked long hours to get the job completed. I WILL RECOMMEND not only the Interlock sales as well the installation personnel. Thank you – Interlock is a great company with a product that is sure to give us many years of security knowing that our roof will surely outlast us and that we don’t have to worry about any future roofing jobs. You were very accommodating and a pleasure to work with!
Roof installed in late October of 2015. Start to finish a good experience. We knew going it what to expect for costing and everyone looking at a metal roof should expect high costs, but still gave it a small ding on overall costs :). The lead time to do the work was long but that expectation was clearly set during the contract negotiations and they were within 2 weeks of that date. Jennifer was a big help keeping me informed of scheduling and always responded within a day of any message left, if I didn't get her live on the phone. The crew was really good (Sergi, Dimitry and the guys) and worked 9-5 without missing a beat after a long daily commute to get to our house.. Considering all the nails, shingles and small metal pieces associated with this installation my yard was spotless. Even after they completed my walk around yielded about a dozen small pieces buried under leaves and to be expected.. Very pleased with that.. So far we're very happy with the experience. The roof looks amazing and we cannot wait for the snow to arrive. Description of work: removed 2 layers of shingles, replaced some damaged plywood after removal, complete roof coverage with ice & water barrier along with a 2nd protective layer then the metal roofing. We had a good sized roof, about 2800 sq. feet with alot of angles and dormers.
The roof came out absolutely gorgeous, the color and pattern I choose matches our brick so beautifully, I got a lot of compliments from my neighbors and visitors. The foreman Franklin amazed me with his workmanship, organization skills and leadership although he is the only English speaking person among the whole team. I am glade that I choose Interlock Metal Roofing for my house. Services: Roof installation

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lynnfield
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lynnfield.
Will a metal roof hold up to Massachusetts freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes — aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it expands and contracts uniformly without cracking or splitting. Lynnfield experiences about 76 freeze-thaw days per year, which can devastate asphalt and wood roofs over time. Aluminum's crystalline structure (3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy per ASTM B209) absorbs thermal cycling without degradation. The four-way interlocking panels accommodate movement while staying watertight, and the Alunar coating (warranted 30 years) won't crack from repeated freezing. You're looking at a roof that actually improves with age here, not one counting down to failure.
How does an Interlock metal roof handle heavy snow and ice in New England?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice more reliably than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface and steep panel contours won't trap moisture like porous shingles do. Lynnfield receives about 84 cm of snow annually — aluminum won't degrade under that load because it weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft (Shingle profile), compared to traditional tile at 15–20 lb/sq ft. You can add snow guards if desired to control shedding. The interlocking seams prevent water from backing up into ice dams, and the Guardian Warranty covers ice-dam-related leaks. Many homeowners here find they need less roof maintenance during spring thaw.
Can an aluminum roof rust, or will salt air from coastal areas damage it?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — instead, it forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal underneath. Even if that layer is scratched, it reforms automatically within hours. Interlock has installed roofs from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations since 1998, proving durability in the harshest corrosive environments. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides) adds extra protection, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214. Essex County's mix of inland and near-coastal properties both benefit equally — you're not choosing between rust risk and cost.
Will my metal roof stay put in nor'easters and wind gusts?
Yes. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Lynnfield's typical gusts reach about 130 km/h (roughly 81 mph), well within the roof's rated capacity, and the interlocking geometry distributes wind load across the entire panel assembly rather than forcing it through fasteners. The ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) documents this wind performance to IBC/IRC standards. Unlike overlapping shingles that can lift at the edges, Interlock's mechanical lock means wind has nowhere to grab hold — your roof stays where it's fastened.
Does heavy rainfall cause leaks in a metal roof, or does water run through the seams?
Heavy rainfall does not cause leaks when the roof is installed properly over a solid deck and underlayment. Lynnfield averages about 1065 mm of rain per year — the interlocking seams are engineered to channel water downward and outward, not sideways into the home. Water runs along the profile's contours (whether Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, or Standing Seam) and sheds off the edge before it can pool or backtrack. The Guardian Warranty covers leak-related failures for life on the original owner. Hundreds of installations across New England confirm that when the deck and flashing are sound, metal roofs outperform asphalt in heavy rain.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof, or is it really that light?
No reinforcement is needed — the aluminum is extraordinarily light. The Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, so most existing roof structures handle the weight with ease. Even a large home carries only a fraction of the load of traditional roofing, eliminating costly structural upgrades. Interlock's ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms installation over existing roofs for the Tile profile and others. This weight advantage means faster installation, fewer building permits, and lower labor costs — and it works whether your home was built in 1970 or yesterday.
Is a metal roof really the last roof I'll buy, or is it just expensive marketing?
It's the last roof you'll buy — the math is straightforward. Asphalt shingles last 15–25 years and require tear-offs, disposal, and reinstalls costing thousands. An Interlock aluminum roof comes with a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner and transfers once (50 years from completion) to the next owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact resistance. Over 50 years, you avoid 2–3 complete replacements and the landfill waste. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, making the entry cost manageable. The value only compounds if you're selling — resale appeal is strong.
Will hail damage a metal roof, and could I save money on homeowner's insurance?
Hail does not damage an Interlock roof — it carries UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This robustness often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because the risk of claim-triggering damage drops dramatically. Many insurers reduce premiums for Class 4-rated roofs compared to asphalt shingles, which chip, dent, and lose granules in hail. Lynnfield's climate includes occasional severe storms; having a roof that laughs at hail removes a major anxiety point and can offset the installation cost through lower premiums over time.
What maintenance does an aluminum metal roof actually need in Massachusetts weather?
Virtually none beyond occasional inspection and gutter cleaning. Aluminum doesn't crack, split, curl, or rot — the Alunar fluorocarbon coating resists fading and chalking for 30 years (ASTM D4214 / D2244 standards), so no repainting or seal-coating cycles. Unlike asphalt, which requires regular inspection for granule loss and blown-off shingles after nor'easters, or wood shake, which needs fungicide treatments, Interlock stays visually consistent through freeze-thaw, rain (1065 mm/year), and snow (84 cm/year) without degradation. You'll never pressure-wash algae, replace individual shingles, or budget for preventive maintenance. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden — it's the roofing equivalent of maintenance-free decking.
Who installs Interlock roofs in Lynnfield, and how experienced are they?
Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served the region since 1999 — they understand Lynnfield's freeze-thaw cycles, snow loads, wind patterns, and local permit processes inside out. A quarter-century of installations means they've seen how roofs perform through multiple nor'easters, ice dams, and seasonal extremes specific to Essex County. They install to Interlock's specifications (documented in ICC-ES ESR-1790), ensure proper interlocking panel fit, and handle flashing and underlayment correctly so your roof performs as warranted. Choosing the manufacturer's local expert eliminates guesswork and protects your investment — warranty claims are easier when the installer stands behind the work in your community.
