We are very happy with the look of the roof. The workers were good and cleaned up well. The showed up on time. They could have been better at trying to make their customers happy. We were very excited about the expensive roof. We are sad that someone from upper management did not contact us to fix the issue about the materials.

Not sure if it was the crew, but a nail was found in my tire. It looked as if they had cleaned up nicely after the job was done, but I had to change my tire due to the stray nail. I would recommend doing a quick sweep of the road; considering our house is on a main street with no front yard. The crew was very respectful and hard-working! I'm not even sure if the nail was from the roofing, just wanted to include that as a tip.

They need to improve on their internal process of communications. I contacted, Mark, the CEO in Vancouver, and told him about these problems. It took 10 weeks to get a quote from this company and finally by my own efforts I got it. Jenn, couldn't do anything. I finally got in touch with Dena, in sales and she did a good job. Interlock Roofing has a great product but they need to get this issue corrected. Interlock Roofing has a great product but you need to get your staff together and get this communication thing straightened out.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Riverside

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Riverside, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Riverside.

Will a metal roof handle the freeze-thaw cycles in Riverside?

Yes. Aluminum expands and contracts slightly with temperature swings, but unlike asphalt or wood shingles, it does not absorb moisture, crack, or curl during Riverside's approximately 76 freeze-thaw days per year. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is designed for exactly this cycling. The self-healing oxide layer protects the material through repeated expansion without material degradation, so your roof remains watertight year after year without the brittleness that claims asphalt shingles in cold climates.

Does an aluminum metal roof handle heavy snow like Riverside gets?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice effectively due to their smooth, sloped surface—especially profiles like Slate and Cedar Shingle. Riverside receives about 84 cm of snow annually. A metal roof's light weight (the Shingle installs at approximately 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no snow load reinforcement is needed; it can install over most existing roofs. Optional snow guards are available if you want to control snow discharge. The tight four-way interlocking seams prevent meltwater from pooling, reducing ice dam formation common in this region.

Can a metal roof withstand Riverside's wind gusts?

Riverside's typical gusts reach about 130 km/h; Interlock metal roofs are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together on all edges, distributing wind load across the entire system rather than relying on fasteners alone. This approach, validated in ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790, has proven reliable in coastal and high-wind regions globally since the product's manufacture began in 1998.

Will my roof leak in Riverside's rainy climate?

Riverside receives approximately 1065 mm of rain annually. Metal roofs with tight interlocking seams are inherently leak-resistant because water runs downslope and cannot pool at joints. Installation over solid deck with underlayment creates a dual-barrier system. The four-way interlocking design means water is shed before it ever reaches a fastener or seam. Thousands of installations over 25+ years—from coastal salt-air regions to high-precipitation zones—confirm that this system keeps homes dry through heavy, sustained rainfall.

Why is an aluminum roof better than steel in a rainy climate like Riverside's?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; rusting is an iron-specific process. Aluminum develops a thin oxide layer that protects the underlying metal and self-heals when scratched, so exposure to Riverside's 1065 mm of annual rain does not degrade the material. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish—applied to both sides and warranted 30 years against fading—provides additional protection. Even in salt-air environments, aluminum roofs maintain their integrity. This is why The Guardian Warranty covers rusting as a zero-exclusion issue: it does not occur.

Could hail damage my metal roof, and will insurance care?

Interlock metal roofs carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability often translates to lower insurance premiums or discounts. Riverside's climate data does not flag hail as a primary hazard, but Class 4 rating means you are protected at the top tier of impact resistance. Many insurers recognize this certification and reward it. Confirm your policy; some carriers already offer credits for metal roofs with this rating.

Does a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat that asphalt absorbs, reducing cooling demand. Interlock's reflective finishes achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84, rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. Riverside receives approximately 3109 sunshine hours yearly. On clear days, reflective metal roofs stay measurably cooler than asphalt, reducing air-conditioning load. Over a 50-year roof life, this energy savings compounds, offsetting installation cost and reducing both your carbon footprint and utility bills.

What is the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof?

The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The transferable, one-time warranty gives the next owner 50 years from completion, a significant resale advantage. The Alunar coating is separately warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214 / D2244). In practice, installations from 1998 onward show no material degradation; aluminum does not have a fixed lifespan in the way asphalt or wood do. This is your last roof.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?

Metal roofs require far less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. Asphalt shingles need regular inspection and replacement of curled or missing pieces; wood requires treatment for moss and rot; tile cracks and leaks. Interlock metal panels do not curl, rot, split, or invite moss growth due to their non-porous surface and smooth profile. Riverside's 1065 mm annual rain and 84 cm snow keep the surface clean naturally. Periodic visual inspection is all that is needed. The system is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, saving you time and repair costs over decades.

Can you install a metal roof over my existing shingles in Riverside?

Yes. Interlock metal roofs install directly over most existing asphalt or wood shingles because aluminum is extraordinarily light—the Slate profile weighs approximately 0.41 lb/sq ft and the Tile approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. No structural reinforcement is required. Installation can typically be completed in days rather than weeks. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served this region since 1999 and routinely performs over-existing installations. The current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, making now an ideal time to schedule a local assessment.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Riverside’s climate?

Yes. Riverside averages about 84 cm of snow, 1065 mm of rain, roughly 76 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 130 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
