Review: September 7, 2022Completion: July 25, 2022

They take the nails, and they throw them over their shoulder, and they go into the gutters, bushes, etc. It ended up flattening my tires. I did talk to them about it. It was partially my fault because I haven't kept up with communicating to them because I am busy. They did come back and tried to pick the rest of the nails up. However, when it rained, they came out of the gutters and ended up in my driveway. One time I counted 26 nails came down the drain pipe. The magnet doesn't work for the nails in the gutters. They could have improved their handling of the waste products. I still have to get in touch with them. The people in the office are nice and cooperative. The foreman was good as well.

The cleaning up at the end of the day could improve. This is the second roofing job done by Interlock. The first one was done on a smaller house, and it was the best one done in the neighborhood from what I heard from friends and family. I am happy with the results, and with the next roofing done, I do think I have the best one in the neighborhood.

Review: March 10, 2022Completion: March 3, 2022

After I contacted Interlock the impression I was left with, was they wanted to educate me about the product. John the salesman that came to my home explained clearly the whole process and even took me to another house in my neighborhood to show me exactly what was involved and the end result. That was when I decided to go with them. Although it didn't get installed until the middle of winter everything held tight as they worked around snow and rain. I love the new roof and highly recommend Interlock Roofing.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in South Carver

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in South Carver, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in South Carver.

Will a metal roof handle South Carver's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes — aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but its non-corrosive oxide layer remains intact through roughly 69 annual freeze-thaw days here. Unlike asphalt shingles, which crack and curl as they absorb and release moisture, or wood shakes, which split when frozen water expands inside the grain, aluminum's solid 3105-H24 alloy has no pores to trap water. The four-way interlocking seams shed water before it pools, so the metal itself never stays wet enough to form ice damage.

How does Interlock metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice dams?

South Carver receives about 71 cm of snow annually, and metal roofs shed it faster than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface doesn't let snow bond — it slides off once the sun warms it. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind gusts up to 120 mph, so they hold solid under snow weight. Optional snow guards let you control the slide. The sealed panel design prevents water from pooling and backing under shingles — a common cause of ice dams — because melting snow runs straight down the seams and off the eave.

Does a metal roof leak in heavy rain, given South Carver gets about 1180 mm annually?

No. The four-way interlocking seams overlap continuously, and water that hits the roof runs down the panel profile and out through the seams, not into them. South Carver's average annual rainfall of about 1180 mm has been handled by this system since 1998 — Interlock panels are installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station. Proper installation over solid decking and underlayment (the same foundation as asphalt roofs) ensures every drop sheds. The interlocking design is so tight that ISO 12944 salt-spray corrosion testing is the durability benchmark, not leak risk.

Why won't my aluminum metal roof rust like a steel roof can?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — the metal that oxidizes and degrades. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects it. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both panel sides adds 30-year color and fade resistance (ASTM D4214/D2244). In South Carver's climate — with coastal-range humidity and roughly 69 freeze-thaw days per year — this dual protection stops the corrosion cycle that steel roofing cannot escape. Salt spray, industrial air, and extreme moisture environments worldwide prove aluminum's reliability.

Can a metal roof survive South Carver's wind gusts without flying off?

Yes. Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification — well above South Carver's recorded gust extremes of about 139 km/h (about 86 mph). The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the whole roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. UL 2218 Class 4 impact testing confirms the panels' structural integrity under extreme stress. Combined with proper fastening to the deck, this design keeps the roof secure through nor'easters and seasonal squalls typical of Plymouth County.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?

Almost never. The Slate profile weighs about 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the Mediterranean Tile — which replicates heavy masonry — weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most South Carver homes can support this load without reinforcement, and you can often install Interlock panels directly over an existing asphalt roof, saving tearoff costs. This is why Interlock roofing works on everything from modern homes to historic structures. A local structural engineer can confirm your home's specific capacity in minutes — but in the vast majority of cases, the framing is more than adequate.

Will my homeowners insurance cover hail damage to a metal roof?

Many insurers offer discounts for metal roofs rated UL 2218 Class 4 — the highest impact rating available — because the risk of perforation is extremely low. Interlock panels achieve this standard, and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Before installation, contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification and ask about premium reductions. Hail events are rare in South Carver's 10-year climate record, but when severe weather does strike, this impact resistance means fewer claims and often lower premiums than asphalt shingles, which dent, crack, and fail under the same hail.

Will an Interlock metal roof lower my cooling costs?

energy-efficient colors with solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84 reflect more of the sun's heat away from your home than asphalt absorbs. South Carver receives roughly 3072 sunshine hours per year — enough to make reflectance meaningful in summer. Cool Roof Rating Council verified, the coating works year-round: in winter, high emissivity helps nighttime radiation escape (reducing radiant barriers), and in summer, reflectance keeps attic temperatures lower. The exact savings depend on your HVAC system and home orientation, but metal roofing homeowners typically see 5–15% cooling-cost reductions compared to dark asphalt — recouping part of the roof's cost over its 50+ year life.

What makes the Guardian Warranty better than an asphalt roof's warranty?

The Guardian is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner — covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact-resistance loss for as long as you own the home. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. Asphalt shingles carry 20–25 year prorated warranties that decline year-over-year; by year 10, coverage drops to 50%. South Carver's 69 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 71 cm of snow accelerate asphalt degradation, so real-world coverage often expires before the warranty does. Aluminum's oxide layer and PVDF coating don't degrade — the roof lasts the home, not just the decade before replacement.

Is an Interlock metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?

Over 50 years, aluminum typically costs less. A quality asphalt roof lasts 15–25 years in South Carver's climate before freeze-thaw damage and UV degradation force replacement. At three to four replacements, labor and tearoff fees multiply fast. Interlock panels install once, never tear off (they're ~95% recyclable), and come with the non-prorated lifetime warranty. Right now, financing is available with no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. When you factor the avoided tearoff fees, zero maintenance (vs. asphalt inspection and repair), and a transferable 50-year warranty that adds resale value, the metal roof is typically the last roof you buy — a one-time cost, not a cycle.

Is a metal roof a good choice for South Carver’s climate?

Yes. South Carver averages about 71 cm of snow, 1179 mm of rain, roughly 69 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 139 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
