Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Review: November 4, 2016 Completion: September 30, 2015

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Louisville Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Louisville Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Louisville Township.

Does metal roofing handle Minnesota snow and ice buildup better than asphalt?

Yes. Louisville Township receives about 95 cm of snow annually, and metal's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice faster than asphalt's rougher texture, reducing ice dam risk. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together so tightly that water cannot penetrate during the freeze-thaw cycles—you'll experience roughly 77 of these each year here. Snow guards are available if you want to manage sliding. Unlike asphalt, which can crack and curl under repeated freeze-thaw stress, aluminum's oxide layer remains flexible and intact through Minnesota winters.

Why is an aluminum roof better than steel in a snowy climate like ours?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; steel does, and salt from winter roads or gutters accelerates rust on steel roofing. Aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that seals scratches automatically—critical during Minnesota's 77 annual freeze-thaw cycles when expansion and contraction can expose bare material. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides of every panel) adds a 30-year fade and chalk warranty. Over a 50-year roof life, aluminum in a climate with 861 mm of annual rain stays structurally sound; steel requires ongoing maintenance and eventual replacement.

How does metal roofing survive Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles?

Louisville Township experiences about 77 freeze-thaw days per year, and aluminum thrives in this cycle because it expands and contracts uniformly without cracking, splitting, or curling. The four-way interlocking panels move as one system, distributing stress across the entire roof rather than concentrating it on individual fasteners. Asphalt shingles and wood shake both fail prematurely under repeated freezing and thawing; aluminum's homogeneous 3105-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) maintains its impact resistance year after year. The Guardian warranty even covers cracking and splitting—conditions that asphalt owners pay for repeatedly.

Will a metal roof stay secure during Minnesota storms?

Yes, absolutely. Louisville Township experiences typical wind gusts up to 99 km/h, and Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together on all sides, creating a unified structural system that resists uplift far more effectively than individually fastened shingles. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms code compliance for wind resistance. During the heavy-gust events you'll face in Minnesota, a metal roof's continuous panel-to-panel connection means your home stays protected where asphalt shingles' individual fasteners gradually work loose.

Can my house support a metal roof, or do I need costly structural work?

You almost certainly won't need structural reinforcement. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it can go directly over most existing roofs. Even the heavier Shake profile weighs only 0.58 lb/sq ft. Your home's framing was designed to bear asphalt shingles (about 2.5 lb/sq ft), so aluminum metal roofing is a net reduction in load. This means no expensive temporary walls, no engineer consultations, and no delays. Louisville Township's 861 mm annual rainfall and 95 cm snow load are handled comfortably by aluminum's light weight and structural interlocking system.

What's the actual lifetime warranty on an Interlock metal roof?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. Transferable once to the next owner for a 50-year term from completion, it gives your home a genuine multi-generational roof. By contrast, asphalt warrants 20–30 years and deteriorates visibly by year 15 in Minnesota's 77 freeze-thaw cycles per year. A metal roof installed today becomes a permanent asset you'll likely never replace; the transferability adds real value if you sell, since the next owner inherits 50 years of coverage.

Does hail damage metal roofing, and will my insurance notice?

Interlock metal roofing carries UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers hail perforation from stones up to 1.5 inches. In Minnesota's strong-wind climate (gusts to 99 km/h), hail often accompanies storms, so this protection matters. Many insurance companies recognize metal roofing's durability and offer premium discounts; ask your agent. Aluminum's non-combustible, non-corrosive nature means hail won't trigger rust or structural weakness. Unlike asphalt shingles, which show visible granule loss and soft spots after hail, metal roofing surfaces remain intact and watertight.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?

Yes, installation typically occurs over your existing roof—no costly tear-off and no landfill waste. This approach shortens your project timeline and keeps costs down. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels snap together quickly once underlayment and fastening strips are in place. Installation timeline depends on roof size and weather; your local Interlock installer has served the region since 2001 and can give you a specific estimate. Because aluminum weighs roughly 96% less than traditional tile and installation avoids a full tear-off, most residential roofs complete within one to two weeks, weather permitting in Minnesota's variable spring and fall conditions.

Do metal roofs save money on cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect heat rather than absorb it like asphalt. Louisville Township averages about 3163 sunshine hours per year—enough that reflective coatings reduce attic temperatures measurably. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating quantifies this: lighter-colored metal roofing bounces away solar radiation that dark asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. Over a 25-year roof life, cumulative HVAC savings can offset installation costs. This advantage compounds in any climate; Minnesota's summer sun, though seasonal, makes reflectivity valuable during peak cooling months.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need?

Virtually none beyond occasional debris clearing. Unlike asphalt shingles (which need granule-loss inspection and periodic replacement), wood shake (which splits, curls, and requires regular sealing), or tile (which cracks and needs mortar repointing), aluminum doesn't degrade. Rain here—about 861 mm per year—rinses your roof clean naturally. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is verified CALGreen-compliant for reduced maintenance. Snow shedding during Minnesota's 95 cm annual snowfall and 77 freeze-thaw cycles means no dangerous ice dams to clear manually. You'll spend less time and money on roof maintenance than any other material over the roof's life, freeing your budget for other home priorities.
