Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Savage

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Savage, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Savage.

Will a metal roof hold up through Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's non-porous structure makes it inherently resistant to freeze-thaw damage that degrades asphalt and wood. Savage experiences about 79 freeze-thaw days per year, where water penetration and expansion crack conventional roofing. Aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without absorbing moisture, so it doesn't split, curl, or delaminate. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) maintains flexibility through temperature swings, protecting the panel beneath. This is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctica.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow loads in Savage?

Interlock's aluminum panels are engineered to shed snow efficiently while supporting full accumulation weight. Savage receives about 95 cm of snow annually, yet the Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—so light that no structural reinforcement is needed, even when snow sits on the roof. The four-way interlocking design prevents panel separation under load, and optional snow guards are available to control release on steep pitches. Aluminum's rigidity and light weight outperform heavier materials that sag under snow burden and require costly roof framing upgrades.

Can I install metal tile roofing without reinforcing my house structure?

Yes. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural upgrades are required. Most homes in Savage can support the load without additional framing. The panels also install directly over most existing asphalt roofs, eliminating tear-off costs and labor. Steel tile alternatives weigh 10–12 times more, forcing homeowners to pay thousands for roof reinforcement or complete structural assessment. Aluminum's feather weight makes upgrading to a high-end aesthetic material economically and structurally feasible.

Are metal roofs safe in Minnesota wind and storms?

Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph when installed per specification—well above Savage's typical gust speeds of 94 km/h (58 mph). The four-way interlocking panels create a unified system that prevents uplift and panel separation. Each panel locks to its neighbors at all four edges, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. The aluminum's inherent rigidity prevents flutter and movement that can loosen fasteners over time. UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating demonstrates this same structural integrity under extreme environmental stress.

Will hail damage my metal roof, and can I get insurance savings?

Interlock aluminum panels earn UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact rating available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This translates to durability most homeowners never see damage from in practice. Because the panels resist impact without denting noticeably or losing structural integrity, many insurers offer premium discounts for metal roofs in hail-prone regions. Scott County's thunderstorm season benefits from this protection. Unlike asphalt shingles (which crack and lose granules) or slate (which shatters), aluminum absorbs impact and maintains its surface integrity and water-shedding capability.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof need?

Minimal. Interlock metal roofing requires no annual treatment, replacement of failed sections, or preventive repairs—eliminating the ongoing costs of asphalt shingles (which crack, curl, and lose granules every 10–15 years) or wood shake (which splits and rots). Savage's ~3128 annual sunshine hours and frequent rain naturally rinse the roof. The Alunar coating resists chalking and fading for 30 years, so repainting is unnecessary. A simple periodic inspection for debris and gutter cleaning suffices. This low-maintenance profile is CALGreen-verified and saves thousands over the roof's life compared to materials that demand regular repair or replacement.

What's the warranty on Interlock metal roofing, and how long does it actually last?

The Guardian Warranty offers a lifetime limited, non-prorated material coverage for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. This structure reflects Interlock's confidence in durability: panels manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC continue performing in extreme climates worldwide. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty (measured to ASTM D2244) independently backs the finish. No other roofing material—asphalt, wood, or conventional metal—offers this combination of original-owner lifetime coverage and multi-generational transferability, making it the last roof most homes ever need.

Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt, reducing cooling demand on warm days. Thermal emissivity reaches 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), Cool Roof Rating Council rated. Savage's ~3128 annual sunshine hours and temperate 8°C mean favor reflective roofing, especially for homes with air conditioning. The cooling benefit compounds over decades: an energy-efficient profile pays dividends through every summer in Scott County. While savings vary by home size, HVAC efficiency, and orientation, energy-efficiency certification demonstrates measurable heat rejection compared to conventional dark asphalt.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Savage, Minnesota?

Interlock Metal Roofing, the manufacturer's authorized regional installer, has served Savage and Scott County since 2001. The team manages every phase—from site assessment and structural evaluation to panel fabrication, flashing customization, and final installation. Factory-trained installers ensure panels interlock correctly, fasteners hit roof framing, and drainage systems perform as engineered. Twenty-plus years of local experience means familiarity with Savage's ~796 mm annual rainfall patterns, freeze-thaw dynamics, and residential construction styles. Choosing the manufacturer's own regional installer eliminates intermediaries, simplifies warranty administration, and guarantees ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliant installation.

Is aluminum roofing environmentally responsible?

Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable and Interlock panels can be recycled indefinitely without losing properties. This contrasts sharply with asphalt shingles, which are tear-off waste that fills landfills for decades and requires complete removal every 15–20 years—generating significant disposal costs and environmental burden. Savage residents who choose aluminum eliminate the asphalt cycle entirely: one roof installation, no landfill contribution, end-of-life recycling when eventually replaced centuries from now. The lightweight material also reduces transportation emissions (lower fuel consumption per pound delivered). CALGreen verification acknowledges reduced maintenance as a sustainability benefit, since fewer repairs and no premature replacement mean fewer material shipments and service trips throughout the roof's life.
