I would have preferred a crew from Interlock supervising the subcontractors. That way I could have gone to them and asked them to stay on top of the subcontractor's cleanliness

Review: December 7, 2022Completion: November 14, 2022

I am unlikely to recommend Interlock to a friend. I found the sales representative, Jonathan Brown, highly deceptive when pricing the deal. That is simply unacceptable. I did find the installation crew hard working and organized. They did a good job and I appreciated that. I didn't get the idea that there was a lot of supervision, though and some of the installation problems that came up at the end reflected that. I still have some questions about the work. They should provide a port-potty for the crew.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Pinardville

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Pinardville, New Hampshire. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Pinardville.

How does a metal roof handle Pinardville's 117 cm of annual snowfall?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because aluminum's smooth, hard surface prevents ice dams from forming along the eaves. Pinardville receives about 117 cm of snow yearly, and the four-way interlocking panels of Interlock roofing create a unified structure that won't cup, crack, or split under freeze-thaw stress. You can add snow guards if you prefer to manage runoff differently. The lightweight construction — Interlock Slate installs at just 0.41 lb per square foot — means no structural reinforcement is needed, even in heavy snow years.

Will freeze-thaw cycles damage a metal roof in New Hampshire?

No; aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw climates because it expands and contracts uniformly without cracking or losing integrity. Pinardville experiences roughly 98 freeze-thaw days per year, a condition that weakens wood, concrete, and asphalt over time. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, and the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is warranted for 30 years against chalking and fading, remaining flexible through hundreds of thermal cycles. Interlock panels are rated to ICC-ES ESR-1790 standards, so your roof will perform consistently whether temperatures swing from -10°C to +15°C daily or hold steady.

Can aluminum roofing rust or corrode?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath and self-heals when scratched. This is why Interlock panels, manufactured in roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), have been installed successfully from coastal salt-air environments to an Antarctic research station. The Alunar coating is applied to both sides of every panel for extra protection. With annual rainfall around 1007 mm and no iron present, corrosion simply isn't a risk in Pinardville; you're left with a roof that won't degrade from moisture exposure.

How does metal roofing perform in Pinardville's wind gusts?

Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, well above Pinardville's typical gust speeds of 107 km/h. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together in all directions, creating a unified, aerodynamic assembly that won't lift or separate. Your roof moves as one unit rather than individual shingles catching the wind, which is critical during spring storms and winter nor'easters. The UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating also ensures the panels won't degrade from the pressure changes that come with severe wind events.

Does Interlock metal roofing qualify for hail damage coverage or insurance discounts?

Yes; Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this rating and may offer premium discounts because metal roofing is far less likely to require a claim than asphalt. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 specification to discuss your policy. In a region like Pinardville with about 3018 sunshine hours annually and typical spring weather volatility, a Class 4 roof gives you financial protection and peace of mind.

Is aluminum roofing lightweight enough to install over my existing roof?

Yes; Interlock Slate weighs just 0.41 lb per square foot, and even the Tile profile—which replicates the look of concrete or clay—is about 96% lighter than traditional tile material. This extraordinary lightness means most existing roof structures need no reinforcement whatsoever. Installation can proceed directly over your current roof, eliminating tearoff and disposal costs. In Pinardville, where 117 cm of snow adds temporary weight each winter, the panel's minimal base weight combined with its strength (ICC-ES ESR-1790 rated) ensures your home's structure carries both the roof and seasonal snow loads safely.

Will an aluminum roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorb it, with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 on aged finishes and thermal emissivity of 0.84. This means less heat enters your attic during Pinardville's 3018 annual sunshine hours, reducing air-conditioning demand. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms that reflective metal roofing keeps homes noticeably cooler than asphalt shingles, which absorb heat. Over a 50-year roof lifespan, these cooling savings compound, offsetting the initial investment. In a climate with active seasons and varied sun exposure, every degree matters to your energy bills.

Is a metal roof truly the last roof you'll buy, or just marketing talk?

It's both economically sound and realistic. While upfront cost is higher than asphalt, The Guardian lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner, transferable for 50 years to the next owner) means you avoid the tear-off-replace cycle every 15–20 years. Over 50 years, asphalt requires 2–3 replacements plus disposal costs; Interlock runs once. The 30-year coating warranty (ASTM D4214/D2244) and impact coverage to UL 2218 Class 4 standards keep repair costs minimal. Pinardville's 1007 mm annual rainfall and 117 cm snow won't degrade aluminum like they do asphalt. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, cuts initial burden.

How much maintenance does metal roofing really need compared to asphalt?

Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles, which curl, crack, and lose granules as they age—especially under Pinardville's 98 annual freeze-thaw cycles—Interlock aluminum panels don't require routine sealing, re-nailing, or repairs. No shingles blow off in your 107 km/h gusts. The solid aluminum construction and four-way interlocking mean debris doesn't lodge under overlaps, and the Alunar coating is warranted for 30 years against fading and chalking. Occasional gutter cleaning is all you'll do. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance compared to traditional roofing. Over a lifetime, this translates to time and money saved reinvested elsewhere.
